- Jtexplorered (10/5): Best hotel along 1-80 - My favorite stop on 1-80!!! I plan my travels to make sure that I stay at the Cottonwood Inn. They have an awesome pool, superb breakfast, “decent” gym, and nice beds. Today I was surprised to find out that they have added a restaurant on site! Wow!!!
- stephaniee935 (2/5): Threatened Arrest - Shady Management - Management is shady and very unpredictable. We were accused of trying to skip out on our bill of $2,500. We were there for work and my employer was to cover the expenses. I assured him that we were not those kind of people and we're working professional adults and should be treated as such. He proceeded to involve law enforcement and attempted to have us arrested and charged with a felony. He blackmailed us into paying the outstanding balance ourselves, or he would press charges. There was no reasoning with him. He would not listen, just kept threatening law enforcement. The local police department did infact call us and we had to explain things to them. As a result, we paid the balance, were banned from the hotel property, including the restaurant and lounge, even though we now reside in this town. This town is full of nice, kind, and helpful people, except for Casey, the manager at Best Western, Cottontree. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere.

- nancycQ103NY (10/5): Everything We Hoped For - From start to finish, our stay was everything we hoped for. Akia checked us in and made sure we had a room that would accommodate my lung issues. She took the time to explain the benefits and challenges of our choices and helped us make an informed decision. The room was clean, the towels were fresh and plentiful, and the beds were comfortable. We were exhausted and were able to sleep soundly and awake refreshed. The breakfast had plenty of options, and we found food that would work for us. Thank you! We’ll be back!
- Jtexplorered (10/5): Top customer service/ clean/ friendly - I always try to stay at the BW in Casper Wyo because they are the BEST when it comes to how they treat their guests! This morning I interrupted Shirley (Shelly?) who was working in the in the cafeteria, and she dropped everything to find an answer for me. The breakfasts at this location are top notch! They always have a variety of meats, eggs, bread, cereal, and juice… and their espresso machine is top notch I swam laps in the pool this morning and the temperature was “just right”… and the water was sparkling clean!
- soudersjennifer (10/5): Love love this place! - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Stay So Good I Might Reroute My Entire Cross-Country Trip Just to Return I walked into the Best Western Cottontree after a long stretch on I-80, exhausted, dog in tow, and fully expecting “just another hotel stop.” Instead, I got the kind of hospitality that reminds you people still know how to show up for strangers. From the moment I walked through the doors, the front desk team set the tone — warm, welcoming, and genuinely helpful, not that fake corporate-script energy. They treated me like a human being who’d been driving for days, not a transaction. And then… the lounge and restaurant. Yes — an on-site lounge and restaurant at a Best Western. Someone give their GM a medal. The bartender made phenomenal drinks and went out of their way to help me carry my dinners back to my room. The lounge staff had an easy warmth you can’t fake. And a special shout-out to Ty, who kept me company with great conversation while I waited for my food. After hundreds of miles, that kind of human connection hits different. The food? Shockingly good. I had the grilled chicken strawberry salad — bright, fresh, perfectly balanced. My son had the Caprese salad, and even he was impressed. And the presentation? In to-go boxes? Absolute chef’s kiss. Whoever is in that kitchen clearly takes pride in what they do. My room was clean, quiet, and genuinely comfortable, and the hotel itself — though an older property — has clearly been updated with care. Everything felt well-maintained, intentional, and peaceful. Even the dog area out back was thoughtfully done, which any traveler with a pup will deeply appreciate. And I have to mention the holiday decorations. When you’re moving across the country during the season, you lose a little bit of the magic on the road. Seeing the lobby lit up and festive made me feel unexpectedly grounded — almost like stepping into a friend’s home instead of a hotel. All in all? This place didn’t just meet expectations — it met the moment. Clean, kind, comfortable, and run by people who clearly care. I don’t say this lightly: I’d go out of my way to stay here again. - Blokken01 (10/5): An experience worth having and not to be missed! - Had a wonderful experience at this hotel. Hotel beds were comfortable, room was a good size and clean, staff was great! And the restaurant, the restaurant was the best I have been in for a long time. The chef is wonderful, the waiter very hospitable and the homemade soup the best I have ever had, anywhere! I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone. The restaurant is worth checking out even if you don’t stay at the hotel, but the hotel was great too!

Breakfast was the only thing I could pick on but then it’s included so I won’t complain. Eggs ugh well like some round thing, come on scramble some from scratch Ham is ok but would rather have sausage or bacon. Also some potatoes and whole milk.

The hot breakfast included was wonderful and all the common areas, dining hall, entire facility was clean and very well kept. In addition to the external door, there was an inner door that led down the hall to the pool and breakfast area. We enjoyed the hot breakfast! Would definitely recommend if traveling with a dog and need a quiet, clean, comfortable place to stay.

The sink was extremelyslow to drain; it was taken care of promptly and efficiently. The shower was amazing, with hotvwater, pressure, and not 7 feet high for a 5' tall person! Staff were friendly, kind, and efficient. The room was clean. Thank you for a pleasant visit.
- stevemF8023UC (10/5): Don't stay here - Don't stay here if you don't have to. The staff is not friendly, the hot tube and pool was not working and no apology or discount for that. The room was mediocre, below the standard I would expect from Best Western and for the price. The room was dated and there is much of the exterior that is in disrepair. It looks and felt shoddy, and like the owner did not care about the property.

Nothing special, but we were able to get a ground floor room with easy access to the parking lot which helps on a cross country trip. The in-house restaurant was the star of the hotel, nice to have a good place to eat without having to get back in the car after drivng all day.

Thankfully this facility was able to accommodate our needs. The room was spotless and very roomy. We enjoyed great water pressure with the shower. We were very thankful that there is a restaurant on premises. Our dinners were delicious. Breakfast the next morning was ample with several hot and cold selections. All the staff we came in contact with were very kind.

- DS5691 (2/5): DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL! GO ELSEWHERE! - We arrive at this hotel at 5:30 pm, after a long day of travel. Checked in and were told our room was not available, as it had not been cleaned yet. Staff was not able to tell us an appropriate time our room would be ready and could have cared less! We asked if we came back after going to get something to eat if our room would be ready - same rude response- “don’t know”. Coming back at 10 pm - “Don’t know!” The lobby had several guests that could not check in for the same reason. After an hour wait and still getting the same response, we moved down the road 2-hrs to another hotel making it a long day of travel. Fortunately, Trip Advisor was helpful in allowing our cancellation and rebooking another hotel. We understand a staff shortage, however the staff at this hotel was inconsiderate and rude about what was “their” problem. We would never go back to this hotel due to the way we were treated by their staff in a situation that was their problem in not being able to clean the rooms and have them ready at the check-in time. At a $180 room rate, management needs to do better! Unacceptable. Book elsewhere!
- Kandis and Jeff (4/5): They just don’t care - Booked the room for our anniversary specifically for the pool and hot tub. When booked we didn’t know if we were going to have to bring our dog so booked a pet friendly room. When we arrived I asked if we could stay in a non pet friendly room since we didn’t bring our dog - I was told that’s what you booked. Ok I guess we get it. I mentioned we were excited to use the pool and hot tub and asked the hours was told 8am-10pm I believe. We get to our room, towels were messed up, it looked like the floor hadn’t seeped and went to turn on a light and find the plug was cut. So far all minor things. What put us over the edge- was when we went to use the hot tub at 8:05 AM the signs were closed. We just thought it was because they hadn’t turned the sign over so we went in and got into the hot tub. About 10 minutes later if even gentlemen came by and insinuated can’t you read the sign says closed. I asked why is it closed and we were told it was closed all day for maintenance. There is an opportunity here one just be nice but also when I asked about the hot tub you could have shared tomorrow it is fully closed, you could also put up a sign stating closed for maintenance- I’m not sure I believe that it really was closed for maintenance. After checking out, I didn’t get a text to do a survey which I did. They asked for feedback. I told her it was gonna be raised and they were gonna get back to me. It’s been a week with no response back.

I even had a housekeeper ask me in passing if i needed anything before i left and she brought towels to my room. Breakfast was good, but i would suggest doing away with the pre made omelet, they are just not good. Otherwise a good breakfast. Pool was great and clean. All the facilities were really nice. Our room was very nice and i just noticed some small maintenance stuff that needs to be delt with like chipped paint, swelled door, shower slow draining. But otherwise good condition and clean room. - Seaside64370012400 (10/5): College Bound Trip Stop - We had a fabulous stay here in Rawlins and can absolutely recommend this hotel. It was Labor Day and very quiet but we were warmly welcomed and advised on what restaurants would be open for dinner. The room was terrific. The hotel is one block from a very nifty park great for kids and dog walking. The breakfast room is one of the nicest ones I have seen and the food was terrific. Really enjoyed our stay here and would come back again.

- Sharilyn (2/5): Don’t stay here - What can’t I say? Bed bugs or fleas, dirty with urine on toilet, and yellow spots on thw beds and pillows in all three rooms. One room was changed but it was just as bad. Requested refund. Drive the extra hour and half to Rock Springs.
- candydawn (6/5): Dark room but quiet stay both times. - When the sheers in the window are ripped in two places it might be time for a facelift. I did ask tho for a room close up front to breakfast due to walking issues and they gave us 103 which was perfect. The room, however, was dark as are most hotels, not an actual reading light available. Bathroom was dark. Sofa was nice to have but needed a new one. We stop here as they do have the nicest breakfast set up, plenty of choices, plenty of seating as well. The gentleman working the breakfast area was quite nice. We stayed in room 138 as well and that's too far from the breakfast area for bad walkers. But we managed. Ask for close up if you have walking issues and then chose king or queen. They are all in different areas of a very long, long hotel.

- Eric (8/5): Ok but not worth the price - It was a pleasant enough stay. One night on our way through town. I’ve paid a lot less for better places, but it was clean, tidy and staff were very pleasant. In hotel restaurant is the only place to eat close by, and pricy but good food. Breakfast was plentiful and the usual hotel fare. Newer hotels by food are on the other, newer side of town. This was a prime place maybe 40 years ago when this part of town was good…but now mostly shuttered businesses. Didn’t feel unsafe though, just a bit inconvenient. Hotel clerk told me I overpaid on hotels,com and could’ve got the place cheaper in their website, but when I checked it was the same price….so, dunno.

Our room was clean and comfortable and the pool and hot tub was very inviting after a long day of driving. The breakfast was delicious with many choices of hot and cold items. We had a low tire when we checked out and the young man who checked us out was very helpful giving us the name of a local place to get it fixed. We would definitely stay here again!

- jennasC4419YL (10/5): Great stay on the way to Tetons! - We had a quick overnight stay and it was great. The outdoor access to our room made loading and unloading super easy. It is a fairly spread out hotel and our room was at the end of the hall so we walked a bit more than usual but it was needed after a long day in the car. The hot tub and pool area was clean, breakfast was great... waffles, fruit, cereal, biscuits and gravy, ham, scrambled eggs, juices, coffee, toast and pastries, even almond milk! I would love to have seen gluten free options but there were Cheerios there at least! Check in and check out was a breeze with friendly staff. The room was clean with some minor cosmetic areas that could be updated but nothing urgent. It was overall a great stay!
- T8577EHjohnk (10/5): Full Stop - a great choice. - We stopped here for our vacation to Yellowstone from Indiana. Made our reservation the same day as we were traveling. Reviewed the other higher rated hotels as well. Chose this Best Western due to the reviews and breakfast comments. Full stop - if you want a nice hotel and a great breakfast, you should not go wrong with this choice. Would definitely stop here again without a question.

- Thomas (2/5): - Terrible hotel. Old and not renovated. The couch in our room looked like it was from 1990 with stains and all. I wish I took a photo of it to post here! The bed box spring looked like it was 20 years old and sounded like it too. Worst hotel we have stayed in. Don’t charge $200 a night for a hotel where you are afraid to take your shoes off. I did not want a room that had an outside door in the room. The front desk told me it did not and of course it did have an outside door which did not feel safe. If you want a hotel room that is dirty and looks like no renovations have been done stay at this hotel if not continue driving and don’t stop here. I was entitled to a refund for this room!
- Judith (4/5): - The staff with whom we interacted were all pleasant, polite and anxious to be helpful. However, this was, hands down, the dirtiest hotel in which we have ever stayed! It appeared that the first room to which we were assigned had only been partially cleaned. The wastebaskets had been emptied and the beds were made, however, there was a half-eaten loaf of bread on top of a chest of drawers and uneaten- and partially-eaten food in the fridge. BUT the worse thing was two pairs of men's underwear (which had been worn) on the counter in the bathroom! The second room was sort of OK. The beds had been made and the sheets were clean but the upholstered chair and carpet were filthy! MY husband never bothers to wear slippers when traveling and staying in hotels. He kept his sandals on here. The carpets in the public areas were, perhaps, the dirtiest I have ever seen anywhere. They were so grimy all you could see was the dirt -- you couldn't see the pattern. I understand they were having problems finding and keeping housekeeping staff. I'm sure both guest numbers and staffing are problems in such a small and isolated location but the level of neglect to upkeep in both public and private areas along with basic cleanliness was shocking! We have traveled to all 50 states and 34 countries and never seen anything like this before.

From the atmosphere to the wonderful staff, everyone had a smile and was ready to assist with any needs, the pool was clean and the hot tub felt great! We really enjoyed the lounge, where you could not only grab a drink but shoot a game of pool while you waited to have dinner. The food there was beyond superb, and with a chef who had been cooking for 30+ years, everything was scratch made and showed in both flavor and presentation. Jay who is the manager over the lounge was an amazing kind hearted person! The room was very inviting, well laid out and one of the BEST beds I’ve slept on in a hotel during my travels! Breakfast was great with many choices and the setting was beautiful! Joe the general manager of the hotel was also very kind and told us all about the area and things to do! 1-10 this place was a 12+

- PCDoctorUSA (10/5): Great hotel and restaurant - Rawlins, WY was one of our chosen stops on our way to Sacramento, CA from Kearney, NE. It's a standard Best Western, but I honestly don't see why it couldn't be a part of the BW Plus line. Our room was well-equipped; the room was clean and quiet; the bed was comfortable; and the AC worked great. At check-in, we were informed that the hot water heater for the first building was in the process of being replaced, and if we had no objections, we could take a handicapped King room in the adjacent building which had both an interior hallway entrance and exterior door to the parking lot. We had no issues with that, and in fact I liked being able to park in front of our room and open my room door and easily unload the car. We dined in the hotel's Turnbuckle Lounge, which I highly recommend. Small restaurant and bar with friendly service and great food offerings. Jay was our server and made some great menu recommendations. I went with their half-order of ribs, which looked more like a full rack when it came out. Needless to say, I did not leave hungry. While we had a great stay, there's not much in the area surrounding the hotel besides a pair of gas stations. It looks like an area you'd find on Route 66 that has become a ghost town. Not sure what happened here, but it's sad to see so many things shuttered. Perhaps one needs to drive further away from I-80 to see the real heart of the city. If you just need a comfortable, clean overnight stop that also has the benefit of a great restaurant, I highly recommend the BW Cottontree.

- rbthodge (4/5): DISAPPOINTED - Stayed twice - once at beginning of road trip and once at end of trip on the way home. Disappointed. On both visits - this hotel is in need of a major physical renovation - carpets are worn, furniture is worn out (chairs in breakfast area are worn through the material in seats and backs), access pads at outside doors often don't work, stucco molding and plywood backing on the outside is often being held in place by metal strapping or rotted out completely. On first visit at breakfast, scrambled eggs were white, yellow and black and smelled putrid. On second visit eggs were good, but yogurt machine and waffle machine were 'out of order', while many of the items for breakfast were empty or not there at all and this was at 8:30 while breakfast was supposed to run until 10:30 - one danish left, asked attendant if there was more, he brought out 2 - seemed more concerned with going out the back door for his smoke. On first visit our room was at the very end (no problem) - someone had spilled chips or cereal on the carpeting and stairs and it had been walked on alot (no problem, there were two people cleaning the rooms and vacuuming in the area) - problem, a day later the mess was still there and so were the cleaning carts and vacuums - staff needs initiative training. On second visit, didn't arrive until 4:15, rooms were supposed to be ready by 3:00. Was told our room wasn't cleaned yet, they would call us in 30 or 45 minutes. This is a big hotel with many rooms and from our observation few people staying there - they couldn't switch our room to one that was already cleaned??? Finally desk clerk took the initiative to do just that - thank you. This Best Western hotel is not up to Best Western standards. Management and Best Western need to step up.
- nancylE2109KL (6/5): Disappointed -no hot shower - Unreal to pay $200 for no hot water to shower at 7:00 am - so so accommodations, no elevator. Coffee needs improvement, breakfast powdered eggs, smoked ham slices, biscuits and gravy just ok in flavor. It was ranked #1 on tripadvisor traveler ratings - hmmm- not sure how.
