• Jacob (6/5): Affordable, but no AC is bad for hot days - It’s nicely remodeled and spacious. There’s no AC (I didn’t notice this before booking), it feels run down in areas, and it’s pretty noisy. You can hear snoring from the room next to you. The room gets super hot without AC and the fan doesn’t cool it off for sleep.

Staff very friendly and efficient. Specific room requests filled 95% of the time. Very satisfied overall with the location & experience. I would like to see better temp control options. I would like to see a healthy beverage vending machine. I would like to have more options in toiletries available. I would like to see an alcoholic beverage vending machine.

• Michelle (5/5): It is OK, but not great. - I like the location and the proximity to a lovely park with great walking trails. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The location seems very safe. It is reasonably priced. When I arrived, it wasn't clear where to park initially to just to check in without having a valet park your car. I didn't like being charged $45/night to park my car. There are other hotels in nearby that don't charge at all for parking. I didn't like not having a breakfast option that wasn't a sit down in a restaurant choice. There are a few things to purchase in the hotel store, but I would prefer a quick and easy buffet style breakfast. The place seems a bit shabby and in need of being painted - maybe newer carpet.

Office wasn't always staffed. Had to go to the office for ice (wasn't available otherwise). There was a sign in the office "due to regulations, we cannot leave toiletries in rooms" or something to that effect so I was handed a couple hotel sized bars of soap and foil packets of shampoo. I went to the store and bought my own.

Everything worked, from the shower to the wifi. No complaints! This is not a deluxe or fancy place, but it was clean and provided all the necessities.

We were disappointed in the $40 per night (plus tax) parking fee, which we didn't remember being disclosed until our check-in. Since booking through Booking.com, we assumed our room was the last and least desirable. The fan in the bathroom didn't work. The room is directly over where the housekeeping staff take their breaks and assemble, so there was noise throughout most of the day. Our sleep both nights was disturbed by loud noises (barking dogs) and fights.

Ice bucket was given but no ice machine or water dispenser was available on site. Had to walk to the nearest smoke shop for bottled water. A little outside of downtown Berkeley if you’re looking for things to eat or do.

• Bess (2/5): - The desk clerk was incredibly gracious and tried to do what she could to make the stay a good one. That being said, the room itself was not even furnished with a small bar of soap, it had one half box of cheap tissue, the bedroom floor was filthy, the bedside desk handle was tacky, the shower ran burning hot or cold without warning, there's no air conditioning just a circulating fan and I was there for two nights and didn't have any maid service provided. When I spoke with the clerk at the main desk she told me that they have made service every 3 days and then offered me towels and asked if there was anything she could do for me. As I stated in the beginning of this review the desk clerk was amazing and as helpful as she could be but the condition of that Motel I'll never be back
