Guest Reviews
- Ongaj (10/5): Ideal stop over night get train to the North. - Very clean. Affordable price. Very close to train station by walking there. The host cute woman well come with Thai smile. Thanks a lot.
- nicole (10/5): MALGRE FACADE AUSTERE, INTERIEUR EXCEPTIONNEL - Cet Hotel a le label international rare de QUALITE ISO 2001
ce qui est assez exceptionnel
- Nagy (2/5): - We booked a stamdar room, which was below every normal expectation. We entered the “hotel”
- Verified traveler (8/5): - De ligging t.o. Hua Lamphung (treinstation) en een redelijke prijs.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place to stay in close enough proximity to the airport. Great price. Nice staff.
- Ivan Joshua (10/5): Excellent stay! - We stayed there for 3 nights and the hotel was nice and clean. It has also an accommodating staffs.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - First of all, I can't find the correct address on google map, I sent the message to confirm the address but no response before I arrived,
the room is totally different from the picture, the smaller one with public shower room
- Verified traveler (4/5): - room is a bit different from photos, was expecting for a private toilet but wasn't
- NIK NOR AZMAN (6/5): Hotel.com charged us for unavailable services - I’ve booked for three people and paid the premium for it. But apparently the hotel did not provide the extra bed. We were expected to share a bed with 3 people! After some appeal we were given “bedsheet like” apparel as the extra bed. Definitely not what we expected! It seems that Hotels.com has charged us for services that Art Hotel do not provided.
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Anthony (6/5): Great budget hotel - Nice boutique hotel close to train station. Very clean and comfy. I booked cheapest room but on arrival found it had only shared bathroom. I paid 300 baht extra for private facilities. This is a great budget hotel for overnight stay when catching an early train - 5 mins ealk to station.
- Verified traveler (6/5): -
- AFiiz (10/5): - It's good compared to the price. The place is near MRT and train station, it's very convenient.
Finalement, on me trouve une chambre correcte.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Perfect for the station and great price - Hard to review as this hotel seems to be under going refurbishment. It's perfect for for the train station as it has a entrance bang opposite the hotel.
The room was ok, aircon worked well, double bed, cupboard and tv
The bathrooms were a big let down had to go downstairs to use it and they were not the cleanest and very old. Hopefully they will be getting refurbished also they are in great of it.
Gilbert
- cesar (6/5): - The toilets were super dirty, but the price is to low then you have what you pay. Rooms are ok just for sleep
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Price is right, clean, has what you need for the price you pay
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Far to the town
- Verified traveler (4/5): - APART FROM THE LOCATION,WHICH IS VERY CONVENIENT; CLOSE TO TRAIN,MRT AND BUS., THE GUEST HOUSE IS NOT SO CLEAN AND OLD. THERE IS NO HOUSEKEEPING AT ALL THROUGHOUT OUR 8 DAYS STAY. CERTAIN STAFF ARE NOT FRIENDLY, ESPECIALLY THE ONE MALE STAFF WHO CHECKED US OUT, HE WAS EXTREMELY RUDE. DON'T THINK I WILL BOOK THIS GUEST HOUSE AGAIN.
- Philip (8/5): - Perfect quick stay to catch train. 5 mins walking distance from Bangkok train station.
- Mark (8/5): - As handy as you will find if you are taking a train to Chiang Mai..step outside and cross directly across the street into platform enterance..Awesum
- Asha (8/5): - The place was worth the price, very close to the Hua Lamphong train station and to Chinatown.
However, while we were there certain rooms were under renovation and we had to wake up to the sound of the drills and hammering. The bathroom facilities could be upgraded as well.
Overall, it was a bearable experience. Not too bad.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Only stay for the location - Basic room and shared toilets were clean enough. Not a welcoming or relaxing place.
- Patrick (6/5): Ok but very basic. Very close to train station - Short. Miminum stuff
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- Vegansupply (6/5): - Laundry was quick, cheap and not loaded with too much soap, other wise rooms were dirty and bathroom/shower was disgusting (broken and filthy!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Basic provision in room. Shared toilet is abit old and musty but the location was excellent to catch an early train departure.
- Tobias (8/5): - It's ok If you need a train in connection to your stay.
- Chan (6/5): CCTV Recording Not In Operation In Feb 2018 - I lost my wallet inside my room. The room has no attached bathroom. I suspect some guest booked a room and spying other guest who used the common bathroom and sprang into action to enter your room once we use the common bathroom. The suspected thief would comes out to spy whenever other guest opens their room door. The hotel CCTV was not in operation during my stay and could not provide CCTV playback on that lost incidence.
- Tung (8/5): Value for money hotel - Just behind the Hualamphong station, very handy for public transport and also not far from China town. Ideal for solo travellers
- Suchitra (8/5): - Stay was ok as it is a budget stay. The hotel person demanded a deposit of 200 THB but forgot to give back, as we were starting early morning we too forgot.
I felt its bad from their side that they should have a check list to hand over the deposit during check out time
- Cece (8/5): Very close to the Train Station - It was 7 am and I had just gotten off a 13 hour train ride from Chiang Mai so I didn’t have a hotel booked anywhere for the day. Was very exhausted. Found this place closest to the train station. Their policy says check in at 2 pm but the owner was very understanding and let me make a booking online in front of him. i checked in at about 8 am and slept for a bit and was out by 2 pm. It’s nice for a quick stop.
The room isn’t your average fancy hotel but for a quick stop when there are no other options, this was like luxury to me
- Verified traveler (6/5): - quite near to train station
mattress uncomfortable
- Izham (10/5): - Nice and clean room
- Diane (8/5): - The Hostel was basic but at the price you can't really expect more. It was great in terms of getting the train to Siem Reap, which is why I had booked it, a bit more time in bed always helps!
The man who was on at night was particularly nice, letting me use his phone to mak some local calls without charge.
- cww (2/5): Its just bad - I stayed in the eco room and it was horrible. Sheets had black stains, floor had stains and room was as good as a sauna. Toilet choked, sink in room also chokes. Never going to visit there again
- Revshen (10/5): Convenient place for this area and good price. - - good location
- simple to find
- so friendly and helpfully staff :-)
- quickly check-in
- room not new, but pretty clean (for this price))
- shared bathroom not new too, but so acceptably.
- comfort higher then price.
- SF (6/5): Convenient guesthouse near train station. Quite cl - Check-in efficient; friendly staff. Convenient location.
Reasonable rates
- vincent (8/5): Location very near to hua lam pong railway - good hotel with free coffee
- Gluaymai (8/5): Has everything you need! - Place was exactly as described. Nothing special, but for $15 a night you can't ask for much more. The owner of the guest house was really friendly and helpful!
- Ngung Chia (8/5): Great location if taking a morning train - Excellent location. Opposite side entrance of train station. Good for early flight at DM airport because the earliest train starts 4.20 am and you can reach airport by 5 am. MRT station is 3 mins away and from there you can go anywhere. Chinatown is 10 mins walk away. Bus service no. 73 round the corner brings you to Central world and shopping areas.
Room is old and small. Ours is fan and therefore hot after afternoon sun - ask for room NOT facing the road to avoid afternoon sun. Common toilet is inadequate - total 5 WC and 4 showers (2 each for male on 2nd floor; remaining for female on 3rd floor) but very clean. No towels provided but shampoo, bath foam and toilet paper available. Double bed room is not a double bed size - more a super single size. WiFi in room is fast.
Owner and staffs very helpful. Provide tour information and help with packing. Even allow extreme early check in at 7 am.
- DJS (10/5): Convenient, clean and friendly hotel. - We always enjoy staying at the Train. It's literally right next to Hua Lamphong Station, the main rail terminal in Bangkok. The staff are friendly and you can arrive at any time, day or night. There's drinking water available, and free tea/coffee. It's affordable and generally just right for us.
Thanks Train!
- Urszula (8/5): good for this price - Ok, great location
- Alan (8/5): - Nice place with friendly staff, though it is clear that whilst some rooms have been updated, others haven't. No real complaints, good place and very close to the main station in Bangkok.
- Emily (8/5): Great little guesthouse in convenient location - We stayed two nights before getting a sleeper train down the coast. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The shared bathrooms were also clean and tidy and weren't even an inconvenience :). The guesthouse has a locking keycard system on the door so you felt really safe and a little kitchen area where you could help yourself to tea and coffee. Amazing little guest house for a great price in a great location. Literally a two minute walk away from both metro and train station. Really easy to get around and see the whole of Bangkok from this location. Would return :)
- Keith (6/5): Good location, Basic Room - Extremely basic hotel. Felt like a jail cell but worked great for what we were looking for...a basic accommodation for a cheap price in a good location of Bangkok. Train stations are a minute away, good food stands a minute away, you're getting what you pay for with $9.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Basic but close to train station - Budget accommodation that suited us for a short stay. Good value for money.
- ANA MARIA (8/5): - I am satisfief with my stay at this guesthouse. The employees were very polite and accomadating
- Verified traveler (8/5): Okay - Rocked up late weren't bad about anything, English isn't the best. Bathroom needs a bit of a makeover, males were much worse. Could be a bit cheaper, no taxi drivers know where the place is so have a map or on your phone. Good place near the railway and short drive to major shopping centres. Would reccomend if not spending much time in place instead exploring. But if you don't like hard beds I wouldn't recommend. Close to 7/11 AND nice restaraunts opposite train station.
- Samantha (4/5): - Beds were very uncomfortable
- Verified traveler (4/5): Cheap hotel to stay near hua lumphung - For people to stay a night or two to catch the train. For me, it is a good place to explore hua lumping, chinatown and also silom. It is a hostel, with shared bathroom, the cubicle are small. Nevertheless, for the price, it is very value for money, the owner also has a small restaurant downstairs selling western food for only 49baht
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was good for its purpose, to sleep. It was not as nice as the pictures, not as tidy as it should be for its price. If it were cheaper i would not say anything but since it wasnt, here i am. Good location though!
- Pj (4/5): - No ac, bed was horrible. TV was blurry didn't even have a light for my room
- Racael (4/5): Very basic, overpriced but did the job - Very basic and did the job. A little rough around the edges. Not a horrible place to stay but definitely over priced. I also stayed in another cheap hotel nearby this one in Bangkok which was actually cheaper!
- Sulianto (2/5): Deception - Poor, bad, very dirty, your room will not be cleaned, the staff deceived us. He accused us litter the room and he didn't refund our key deposit about THB 100. Not recommended hotel. Don't stay here.
- Dominic (10/5): Train guesthose is great! - Fantastic
- Verified traveler (4/5): Close to the train station - It was close to the train.
- Sherri (8/5): Great service - Conveniently close to station, we had a 10pm out to Chiang Mai and could leave our belongings at the GH while we explored Chinatown. Rooms were very basic and toilet not very clean, but all this was redeemed for us when we arrived in BK and our bags were lost, the owner contacted the airline courier for us to track them and let us stay in our room hours after check out for free. Made a bad situation a lot better!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Its cheap, comfy, cool, near the train station and near the chinatown.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Well. It was an experience - Stayed 2 nights. It was quite run down. only stay here of you are catching the train. Not very comfortable and in a rough area of town.
- Lucy (6/5): Good hostel for a one night stop - Perfect for a one night stay over as we had a train the next morning and it is right next to the station - but i wouldnt want to spend much more time here - personal preference though. Its clean, cheap & friendly - wouldnt expect anything more for the price.
- Siew Fang (6/5): Convenience - Hotel is convenient to go to train station.
TV was not working well.
Quite ok for stay for 1 or 2 nights.
- richard (6/5): Ideal for train station. - 1 Night stop for an early morning train. Ideally placed for the station (directly opposite the station's side door), cheap and a good bed... not a place to stay long term however.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room was advertised with air con but it didn't work which made our stay quite uncomfortable. And the bed was harder than rock we have both left with bad backs it was not very nice. The staff we absolutely amazing though and friendly!
- KELVIN (6/5): - Hotel was good though mattress was not comfortable
- Verified traveler (6/5): - One plug in the room which had a fan plugged in it. No electric supply checked in and checked out after 10 minutes. Bed rock solid. Is cheap so what did I expect if you want somewhere cheap then go for it but wouldn't be comfortable night sleep
- donald (6/5): nice quiet hotel close to the train station. - the hotel was situated close to the train station. room was a good size with good air con and a fridge
- Lisa (4/5): Never again! - Deluxe room, stained linen, wet smelly bathroom with NO ventilation, rock hard mattress, fridge turns food and drink to ice, staff hardly speak English and were unhelpful. No housekeeping and have to pay and wash the linen yourself for your stay.
- Verified traveler (4/5): I'd stay elsewhere - Staff was not exactly super friendly and helpful, though not rude. Our room (private with double bed) was very small - pretty much only wide enough for the bed. There was a sink in the room so that was good. The toilets were always very messy and the showers weren't very clean either. Certainly wasn't expecting anything fancy considering the price, but there is definitely still room for improvement. The location was great for hopping on the MRT to get to pretty much anywhere in the city.
- Verified traveler (8/5): close to railways station - I've been stayed in this hotel several times in the last 5 years
- Moti (4/5): Will not return - Only good for an overnight, cheap stay if you NEED to be by the train. Not worth anything else, and they seem to know this. Purely operating for the one night stay. Wi-fi barely works- if at all. TV in room is an old box TV with no remote and has about 5 Thai stations only. Water provided is a dispenser in the reception area- so bring your own bottle if you want to fill up for your room. For the money, I would rather stay a bit more off the beaten path and get A LOT more.
- Michael (6/5): Nice location - Everything is good, just dont stay eco room. Dont.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Brutal - I would never book again with expedia, the pillows had sweat stains and it was just a dive....... .
- Michael (6/5): Basic budget rooms ( shared bathroom) - Good central location nearby train and metro stations, two metro trains from international airport ( 40 minutes) very good value would stay again. Plenty hot water in shared shower / toilet facilities. There is a lady only bathroom on the 2nd (?) floor
- kate (10/5): Close to public transport:) - It's basic but it's clean. Sure the beds are firm but we had a really great stay. We're travelling really light so I appreciate the free shampoo and soap in the bathroom. There's also free water in the foyer which is always cold. That water dispenser will become your best friend. The only complaint is that the bed was hard, but other than that. Great!!
- Simon (8/5): Clean room in central location - A minute walk from hua lamphong train station as well as a 7/11 and a handful of eateries and cafés. A good central location to taxi to and from the backpacker district as well as around bangkok.
We stayed in a deluxe room which was very clean and comfortable enough to rest in after a day out.
They also have a laundry service which came in very handy for us however the wifi was very patchy
- Verified traveler (4/5): ghetto room, good location - No towels, no fan, questionable bathrooms, but the location and staff were lovely. Also bonus free cookies and tea out front.
- Lee (6/5): Overall cheap and satisfied with the stay - Hotel was clean but rather small for three people to stay. Washroom are outside the room and was rather clean too. Hotel is near to Hua Lamphong MRT station and bangkok train station. Expected it to be noisy as it is near the train station but turns out to be quiet! Overall it's the best budget hotel that I had stayed so far!
- Kate (8/5): Nice hotel, friendly staff. - We had booked to stay initially for 2 nights and extended for a further 2. The hotel from the outside doesn't look great but don't let that put you off. We stayed in an 'Eco Room' which is the cheapest but it's was ok apart from not having air-con! (You have a fan)
Location of the hotel is close to China town and centra station. It's a 50minute walk to koh San Road, so best to take a tuk tuk. (You can get the tuk tuk a lot cheaper if you allow them to take you to a silk shop, you stay for 10min approx and you are charged less then half of the original price- worth doing if you have the time)
Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
- Michelle (10/5): 3 Good restaurants 2 minutes away. - Very comfortable. Friendly staff who can speak English. Near a train station. I suggest you have a zoomed in map of the place to assist the driver. Only stayed one night, but I would have stayed more. My friend and I both liked our rooms. No washroom in the room though.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Central - Staff very good but room for three people very small and uncomfortable. Floors of room very dirty and weren't mopped before we arrived as dirt ingrained. Communal showers but separate bathroom for ladies only. Bathroom facilities basic but free shower wash and shampoo. Downstairs is a lounge with free coffee, water and biscuits and wi fi and television, although TV channels all in Thai but still a nice place to go to get out of the room. Handy for travel as near train station and MRT transport links. Limited places to eat or shop however nearby. For price however, it's good value but probably best for less than three in one room.
- richard (2/5): stay away - It was a dump
- Rose (8/5): Budget no frills accommodation - Initially had issues with A/C but the staff worked with us to have it resolved. Overall, I am satisfied with my stay.
- James (4/5): Close to the station. - Stayed here for one night before moving on. 2 minute walk to the train station. Manager was pleasant. The room was clean and basic, exactky what you would expect for a budget hotel.
