Guest Reviews
- Sarah-Jane (8/5): Good - Location excellent. Large bathroom. All clean. Swimming pools were rather out of date and I would recommend as a B&B - not if you are looking for a hotel with more services.
- Susan (8/5): Great hotel in the best location. - I was warmly greeted by Miriam who always remembered my name and answered all my questions.
The breakfast was very good and view amazing.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel Everything: location, hospitality, breakfast, staff, cleanliness
- Thierry (10/5): Bien - Emplacement Ras
- Brenda (10/5): Friendly staff, 2 mins from docks and 5 mins from airport - Tatiana and her staff run a wonderful lodging stay. We were greeted by Miriam who ensured our room was to our liking and quiet/cool/comfortable. The location was perfect. My only suggestion is to have fresh coffee ready by 6a to accommodate those on early tours.
- Jose (10/5): Todo estuvo excelente!
- Isabella (10/5): -
- Tanya (9/5): Nice spot great views good breakfast - Great location clean comfortable room. Mix up with transfers on arrival, had to make our own way to the hotel.
- Ana (8/5): - Si
- Dale (9/5): A wonderful hotel in a great location. - Casa Opuntia is a great option. The rooms are clean, comfortable and peaceful, the staff are friendly and accommodating, and the location is great! You are treated to a wonderful breakfast each morning, along with complementary coffee, tea and water throughout the day. On our first day there, we asked someone at the front desk where we could book a 360 tour. She offered to find us a tour and said that there was only one agency that offered it, and we had to rush there to pay if we wanted the last spot. She had an "in" with the owner. She walked us there directly, and when we arrived, it didn't feel right so we walked away. After taking more time exploring and checking reviews, we discovered that this particular tour agency didn't have great reviews and that there were many more options. We booked through another tour agency and were very happy with our experience. Outside of this one experience, the hotel was great.
- aijiang (3/5): - The location is great, sea views The room is too small, the bed is small too
- Sebastian (7/5): Location & room great. Everything else just okay. - Great, central location. Everything is in short walking distance. Room quite big. Pool area old and not well kept. Breakfast very basic. Poor value for money.
- Vicky (7/5): Great location. Nice staff - The location was great. The staff was nice and helpful. We had problems with the hot water. The staff did address and fix it but it did happen again.
- loretto (10/5): Maravilloso! - Todo
- John (9/5): -
- Fabio (3/5): No sleep - Great location. Free water and tea. First and foremost, it's not possible to sleep past 6 AM. The curtains are basically see through. Be prepared to wake with the sun. Walls are as thin as paper - you'll hear everything. We had a construction site next door also starting at 6 AM. The bed was very uncomfortable. The breakfast was disappointing. There's no elevator and a big staircase to reach the hotel + a big one to our room. The shower is electric and a bit clunky. No hot water on the tap.
- Jewgenia (10/5): - perfekte Lage, sehr gutes Früchstück, sehr sauberes Zimmer, alle sind sehr freundlich
- J (10/5): - Amazing lovely staff
Fab breakfast
Great location
10 out of 10 in all aspects
I can highly recommend
- Barry (8/5): - Some front desk staff are friendly and helpful, some are indifferent.
Wi-Fi works in the lobby, but only sometimes in the room :(
Breakfast is good with fresh eggs cooked as you wish.
Drinking water provided in the room and in the lobby, along with tea and coffee.
Huge bathroom in room 5.
- Carla (10/5): Overall good value for money - Beautiful, clean and comfortable room. Delicious breakfast and nice facilities. Great location.
- Inmaculada (9/5): -
- Christine (10/5): Wonderful place in all aspects - Room #1 & 2 - AMAZING views - Great location to town, beautiful pool, room very clean, beds soft, breakfast delicious and front desk extremely helpful with all actions: taxi service, tours, food suggestions
Dommage.
Le prix pour la prestation proposée
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice enough property just poor service - Hotel is ok, a bit tired but not dirty or a problem. Service is not good. Some of our group booked a 3 bed room and the hotel made a mistake and gave it to someone else... There first responce was 'oh well" the eventually after a lot of complaining gave them a 2nd room.
They have no elevators and small staircases and offer no help getting bags up or down.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great view from the room. The hostess was very friendly and helpful.
The location was wonderful, near a few nice beach with plenty of sea lions. Also many restaurants and bars nearby. Yet, at night time, it was very quiet. All you hear is the ocean.
Good breakfast included.
Wish the wifi in the room is stronger.
- Joan Claudi (9/5): - La ubicación y la comodidad. La piscina.
- Carlos (10/5): -
- cecile (4/5): Okay - Not their fault but once again Hotels.com didnt send them my booking. Luckily they had space. Hotel is basic and for the price you can get better in San Cristobal. Location is very good and very close to everything.
- Alejandro (9/5): -
- Wieslaw (10/5): - The hotel is perfectly located in the center of town. The room had a balcony and hammock, overlooking the harbor and ocean. Daily housekeeping and fresh drinking water were provided. Breakfast was basic but adequate, as is typical of South American hotels. We had an afternoon ferry, so we had access to the pool, towels, and coffee and tea. There were two pools, and a pleasant garden.
- Janis (8/5): It was nice, not amazing. - Location. Room. Staff. Neither of the hot tubs by the pools got hot. The breakfast was ok, but not great.
- Heather (10/5): Exceptional - Comfortable, clean room. Delicious breakfast. Amazing location.
- Viviana (9/5): Superb -
- Mercedes (10/5): - This beautiful property is in the main path and waterfront, 50 yards away lay over a dozen sea lions each day ...an incredible sight. Great restaurants also yards away...The Pier Restaurant is amazing btw. Tatiana, the hotel's manager and her assistant are wonderful. They patiently explained everything to us, looked for excursions, and even walked us to the agency. The breakfasts are delicious and abundant, set outside with a water view, while finches come tableside. They also have water, coffee, cocoa, and tea avail all day and a refrigerator if you want to keep food. The only down side the bathrooms need upkeep...lighting and hot/cold water faucets.
- Christian (9/5): Superb -
- Jose (10/5): - The hotel staff provided great information about the island and activities. Close to almost everything that is walkable on the island. Only issue the toilet
Does not accept tissue paper and the toilet tissue bin was small. Overall great experience
- Benjamin (6/5): - Awesome breakfast & walkable to everywhere in town — found a cockroach in one of the beds & wish the pool bar would’ve been open, they have an area for it, but no one in there on the Sun/Mon we were there
- Dana (10/5): Loveiy stay - Lovely staff, very helpful and accommodating. Pool and grounds lovely, excellent views. Room was comfortable, bathroom could use a few hooks for towels. Noise from kids
- Alisa (10/5): - Amazing mid-market Inn. This little Boutique hotel was fantastic, right on harbor (disregard whiny reviews about the sea lion noise, close your bloody door if you don’t like it!).
The IHG Indigo hotel next door a great counter point. Same view impersonal service corporate vibe and three times the price. We highly recomend this more authentic, classic experience.
Breakfast thoughtful and plentiful (custom eggs, fruit, granola, fresh juice & breads) rooms bright and spacious (no tv and small baths, think European Inn). Very nice pools, attentive staff
- Donna (10/5): Sea lions and Sunshine - Right from our first moment we loved Casa Opuntia. The team is super friendly and really cares. They provided insight on day trips and even arranged in room massages for us. Loved our room which had front and back balconies and a view of the harbour. The sea lions were pretty noisy, but how could you not love that!
- Yvonne (10/5): - Excellent location, friendly staff
- Maria (10/5): - Amazing
- Alison (10/5): - It was a wounderful experience and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting San Cristobal. The view from my room was amazing, overlooking the ocean, hammock and enjoy the breeze.
- Melissa (8/5): Great location for a step off into the galapagos - The location of this hotel is fantastic. It is right on the harbor & easy to walk to the port, to restaurants, to beaches right from the hotel. Breakfast was included with our stay & was very nice to have. The breeze off the water was very nice as the breakfast area is a covered open air section overlooking the harbor. The kids enjoyed the pool on 2 of the days however the third day is was closed for maintenance but this was a nice added feature. We had a family room which is on the bottom floor of the main building. The beds were 2 twins & a double. The shower was nice & strong but leaked rainwater in the rainstorms (we only had one rainstorm while there). The hotel has a fridge for you to put food in so that no ants gets into the rooms. The purified water available to fill up water bottles and to have tea/coffee at all times was nice. The fact that purified water was in the taps was also nice. The manager at check in met us with a welcome drink of blackberry juice & was very informative about how to do things which were walking distance (like visit the darwin interpretative center, walk to the tijeretas, and then on to punta carola. She was also helpful with food choices as well. The room was a bit dated & would've been nice to have more than one pillow per bed (one extra pillow in the room). Some of the rooms have fabulous ocean views. Others do not. It didn't bother us as the views were steps away. Room was very clean. The kids had fun watching all the sea lions and pelicans on the harbor while viewing all the boats coming in & out of the harbor. Only thing we would've liked better would've been to have black out shades. The light flooding through the curtains made the room brighter than we would've liked at night, but not a deal breaker.
- melisa (10/5): - Great location and safe.
- Linda (10/5): - Great help on questions and getting information
- Bradley (10/5): Exceptional -
- Orna (8/5): Do not miss a room with a sea vieuw - Great location with a sea vieuw the first night we got a room on the ground floor facing the pool. I had the feeling that it does not worth the money.
Only when the room has a see vieuw it worth the money.
- Swanger (10/5): Loved location on front street, very cute and casual style. Staff very friendly and helpful. - Location, casual, friendly staff, pool, breakfast/patio area. Room did not have roller shade to block out lighting (Rm#3), thicker window panes to block out kitchen noise (was not too noisy).
- Lori (8/5): Nice but a bit overpriced - I didnt realize we weren't getting an ocean view. Kinda pricey for not having one. But the staff, breakfast, pool and help getting guides and taxis were outstanding!
- Shanna (10/5): Great location and staff - The hotel was on the water, steps from the pier. Great location. Our room and property were clean. A nice touch: the property allows guests to use a refrigerator (although, locked overnight), and they have a refillable water station. I thought the staff were extremely nice during breakfast and when asking questions about the area.
- Simon (9/5): Superb - Great location, very friendly and helpful staff, very clean and peaceful
- Ivy (8/5): Fabulous location but few frills - Seafront, central location; 2 pools; early check-in, large room No bedside table or bedside light on one side of the double bed - no electrical powerpoints on that side either or extension cord available to overcome this limitation.
No tea or coffee making facility in room.
Wifi sometimes a bit unstable.
- Anne (8/5): Great - Great Location Stairs
- Urmi (10/5): - They made me feel at home I loved my time there I hope to visit in the future!
- Kyeong-Sook (8/5): - A great location! Overall pleasant stay with friendly staff.
Has a great view. I’d stay again.
- Faidutti (10/5): Exceptional - Windows had no lock
- Alexandra (8/5): Very good -
- srinath (8/5): - Everything was good except no WiFi anywhere but the lobby
- Elizardo (8/5): - Place was good great location near the docks
- Maha (10/5): - Wow this place is amazing. Oceon front with 2 pools depending on where the sun is. Our room was very comfortable and quiet. The personnel is very very helpful. We had a great time talking with Tatiana about the possibilities san Cristobal offers. I would come back in a heartbeat
- Miriam (6/5): Pleasant - Spacious room
Beds are comfortable
Sea view is stunning
Good location
Breakfast was Ok
Receptionist advised us to choose a very good, expensive restaurant (Paho's) I chose this hotel based on very enthusiastic reviews, but really don't understand where people who recommended (staff availability for example) were staying.
Receptionist goes home at 20:00, and they have only one key per room, which is not very convenient if we go for a walk separately.
Hot water tea and coffee are available, but milk is locked after 20:00.
Wifi is poor in public areas, and does not work in the room
Room (no2) needs refurbishing
No desk, one chair, old smelly closet
Bathroom with rusty shampoo containers and broken tiles. No hangers in the bathroom.
Many steep stairs to room 2, and no help from the staff, not suitable for people with special needs
We paid a lot (791$ per 3 nights).
Too much
There are better places with the same view
- Mary (8/5): - We loved the location, the view, and the staff. The kids loved the pool. The only negatives are that it is an older property, could use an update, beds are very hard and Wi-Fi is weak.
- Grant (7/5): Good -
- Grant (8/5): Very good -
- Carmen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Darlene (8/5): - Property needs upgrading. No telephone in room. Overall opinion; adequate/satisfactory - needs improvement
- Aarti (9/5): Super location, value for money stay in San Cristobal - Excellent location, very clean, very helpful staff The breakfast options were limited.
- Tannya (10/5): I highly recommend this hotel. -
- Nicola (10/5): - Fabulous helpful staff. Delicious breakfasts and the best location on sea front. Thank you x
- Jaelle (10/5): - Great location and beautiful view. Walking distance to restaurants and beaches.
- Biron (10/5): - Great service, clean rooms
- DAVID (8/5): Great location, friendly staff, no hot water. - Located in an amazing location towards the north end of town, waterfront views and within walking distance of most attractions. Staff was super friendly and met all our requests. Breakfast was simple but fresh. Yogurt, fresh fruit, eggs to order, coffee, etc. Two pools on the smaller side but my kids loved them. Rooms were simple but comfortable and clean. They offer laundry service which was a big plus for us. They kept our bags at the lobby since our ferry was scheduled 5 hrs after checkout. Like I said, every member of the staff was very attentive.
The only downside is that there was no hot water in the shower. Is really eco friendly, but a little discomforting during chilly evenings. The temperature cannot be adjusted, is pre-set. I do recommend this property, but next time we might look into other options in town simply due to the shower issue.
- Paul (10/5): Very nice place, good breakfast and very handy. We loved it and will definitely come back. - Nice location and very clean Some people can smile more and be slightly more communicative , but overall fine.
- Candle (10/5): - It is on the main road with a beautiful view of the water. There are 2 pools.
- Kerri (6/5): - Great location just off the dock. We were warmly greeted with a glass of juice and a truly lovely hostess. The breakfast area was overlooking the beach and the ambiance outside was terrific. Our room could use an update The bathrooms were original to the 1970's but most importantly, they were clean. We had a queen bed and two twins which worked for us but was a tad tight. The biggest frustration was that we could only get wifi from sitting in the outside hall or by the eating area. I understand the Galapagos just got wifi within the last year and this is definitely minor in terms of where we were at but it takes little to get an extender to have the signal reach the rooms. I had all my itinerary digitally so the lack of WIFI service made it tough.
The location and the staff made this a good place. (BTW, not only was the staff great to us, but we met a fellow traveler, not staying here, who ran into a problem and this hotel staff took the time to help this person in need. Well done!!)
- Mike (5/5): Stay was ok but property needs to make some updates. - Location The hotels need renovation. We had room 3 &4. Some light could be added by mirror in the room. The towels provided in bathroom were old. The hot water was insufficient and had a malfunction so had to take cold shower. Breakfast was very basic could use more variety as well as coffee. The pool area and grounds need updates. Some hooks in bathroom could be added. Room 4 had no counter space in the bathroom and limited closet space. A mirror in the room could be added. Towels for beach were out while 4 girls standing and talking. Housekeeping needs to improve.
- Hoe (7/5): Good -
- Ashley (9/5): Superb -
- Corbin D (10/5): - Super friendly
- Lance (10/5): Excellent choice - Location on the waterfront, super front desk help. - Facilities, location and front desk - fantastic
- Jenna (10/5): - This hotel is pretty close to perfect! The staff was so friendly! Very eager to help. The location, view and amenities were great! Right on the water, cozy, simple, covered outdoor seating for breakfast, hanging out or watching the harbor. Two pools! Hammocks on every balcony! I loved this place and I’m already scheming to come back asap.
- Chelsea (10/5): Nothing but smiles for the entire stay. - Beautiful views, friendly and accompanied staff, great location. The SUP rental was great
- Eliana (10/5): - Amazing place to disconnect and relax! I would recommend to stay here the staff are wonderful, the pool could have a bit more maintenance.
- Catrin (8/5): Very good - Close to everything, clean rooms, nice pool Rooms a bit dated and rubbish view
- Julio (10/5): - It was an excellent stay with excellent service and amenities. Would definitely stay here again
- Julie (8/5): - An ideal location with a beautiful view of the waterfront. The staff were excellent and went over and above when helping us book tours.
- Jose (10/5): - Amazing staff and rooms
- Joseph (10/5): Exceptional - breakfast was excellent. room clean and they upgraded us to room with a view that was available
