• Ezra (8/5): - Great location with many food and beverage outlets surrounding the hotel. For everything else it was a short walk or cheap grab fare. The staff are friendly and helpful and hotel is in average condition but comfortable, especially the beds. I stayed in room 115 which I don’t recommend only because the wifi was very poor, elsewhere in the hotel it worked excellently. As an English speaker to tv channels are limited. The rooftop is relaxing, great pool and awesome views... Overall I enjoyed my stay, just in a different room!

Welkomsdrankje, zeer vriendelijk personeel wat behulpzaam was mer verstrekken van info en regelen van taxi etc. Zwembad op het dak heerlijk om even bij te komen, wel wat weinig ligbedjes. Ontbijt uitgebreid, kamer ruim en sfeervol. Enige minpunt is dat het warme water in de douche lang op zich liet wachten.

There were so many light switches in the room, the first night we couldn’t figure out how to turn on the TV or turn off one of the lights. ( the maid helped us next day) We picked this location for the pool and the proximity to what looked like a down town, but after staying at hotel apex, we preferred the quality of the rooms there better. The pool was nice, but bitter cold.

• LeeAnne (2/5): - I am a very positive reviewer of properties but did not have a good experience here. We had arranged for airport pickup but no one came, so we took a taxi to the hotel. Not a big deal but the first of several issues with the hotel and its service. After checking in, I asked if I could change some USD at the desk (common practice at every other hotel we stayed at in Myanmar). I was told they hadn't gone to the bank that day and could not offer that service. We were sent to find an ATM at a nearby plaza (not easy to find!). Our room was right next to the elevator on the 1st floor and there was no noise protection from the hall. We could hear everything happening in the hallway and were woken up many times through the night and early morning. The biggest issue, though, is that when we were waiting for a driver to pick us up to go to the airport (arranged by the hotel, and the driver was late), I sat in an upholstered chair in the lobby and almost immediately began getting bites on my arms. I thought it was mosquitoes and after about 15 minutes, got up and walked around the lobby until the driver arrived. It quickly became apparent that the numerous bites were not mosquito bites at all, but bed bug bites. I got 54 bites in the 15 minutes I sat in that chair. I emailed the hotel immediately upon getting home and have yet to hear back from them (two days later). I would NOT recommend staying here.

The room was very spacious but didn’t have any windows on the outside : we missed a bit some external natural sunlight. We staied 2 nights so we didn’t mind that much. • Wilfredo (6/5): So...so hotel! - I was in Mandalay for a total of 9 days -of course too many- and at this hotel for 5 days. They gave me a room with 2 twins beds. I protested and asked for a double bed which I was granted. One of the receptionist advised me that I was upgraded 2 times. I thanked her. However, the hotel in general, was a disappointment: Old, too much furniture for the size of the room, the bed was hard, the bathroom shows its use over the years. The breakfast was free but once was enough for me: I never returned for another one. The staff in general was friendly, the WIFI connection was good, the view from the 8th floor was very good, it has a swimming pool and it is 5 blocks away from the shopping center. They charge for the services (food, laundry, etc) in dollars, which it seems is standard for Myanmar. You also can pay in local currency, but it creates a problem with the fairness of the conversion of the currency. After my 5 days I moved to another hotel, from where I am writing this opinion.
• Ruth (8/5): Nice stay for one night - It was nice, functional, nothing super special. The price was good, the bathroom a little worn and stinky. I think I had requested a queen bed on hotels.com, but instead had 2 singles pushed together. Water from the fridge is just a little more than outside prices. Breakfast was nothing special, but reasonable. There is a lovely pool area on top of the hotel and the Chinese food street market nearby is delicious

• Verified traveler (10/5): Friendly Hotel Staff, Great Rooftop - The staff delivers great service like free early check-in (thanks to Aung Kharng Soe), making calls and reservations for you, explaining main sight seeing spots and even helped with some medicaments when I caught a cold. The hotel offers free dance and puppet shows in the evening. The restaurant and rooftop pool/bar are nicely decorated and have a great view. Rooms look a bit old but perfectly clean.

• Stephen (8/5): Nice hotel - but please no smoking in restaurant - Very nice hotel - clean, friendly service, spacious room, comfortable bed, adequate breakfast buffet, nice restaurant for evening meals. Two negative parts to the hotel/dining room - they allowed smoking guests to smoke cigarettes (although in one corner, the smoke still drifts and can be smelt across the dining room), and pigeons occasionally flew in through the wide open windows. The 'hot' water in our room was never really hot. After letting the taps run for a few minutes, the water was warm enough for a shower - but never really got hot. Apart from those three negatives, everything else was positive. The phone in our room didn't work - they tried hard to fix it, but it wasn't a problem to us, and in the end we asked them to just leave it. They tried hard and wanted to help, but we wanted to go to bed! Would happily stay here again, but I would hope the management could stop the policy of allowing smokers to selfishly ruin it for everyone else.
• Jacki (8/5): Excellent Staff, Good Facilities - The good: - Staff were exceptional. Couldn't be more helpful. - Rooms were comfortable and clean and beds were also comfortable - location good, very convenient - breakfast delicious and varied - restaurant was great. Good food, amazing view, free cocktail, nightly traditional puppet show - Sightseeing tour. Seemed expensive by South East Asian standards ($USD30) but I shopped around and this was comparatively cheap. Covered a private car, driver/guide and around 8 different sights. The bad: - opened the curtains in my room to find scaffolding and a construction worker drilling directly outside my 5th floor window. Couldn't open curtains at all during the stay and a daytime nap would have been out of the question. Hoping this is temporary (June 2017) - Wifi was spotty and dropped out regularly. Also wifi required a voucher code to log in, and a different code for each device. Painful and not explained at check-in.

• chris b (6/5): Fine for a 1-night stay - It is not a hotel that I would choose for a lengthy stay, but it is fine for 1 or 2 nights. The area (like much of the city) is not very salubrious. The road is in bad condition and there are no pavements.
• Douglas (8/5): Good Value Hotel - Very nice hotel with really nice and welcoming staff. They helped book a few day tours which we excellent. The room was comfy and clean. For some people the location might be a bit odd but from what we've seen with other hotels in the price range, they all had similar location. We would definitely stay there again. A note to management: the staff are very professional and seem to be very well trained. They should be sent out to the sister hotel in Bagan to assist them in improving the quality of their hospitality.
• P (10/5): A hotel with class - The hotel staff are very attentive and reception has lots of good information about what to do in and around town. The cultural show on the rooftop during dinner is nice (if a little repetitive at times) and the rooms are comfortable and clean. Try the local BBQ restaurant downstairs on the corner, it's brand new and pretty delicious.
• Verified traveler (10/5): Oasis in the center of Mandalay - It is a clean hotel in the middle of a typical street in Mandalay. The room was good, the breakfast was enough for me, fresh croissants were appreciated. I had no problems with wifi during my stay. The hotel is centrally located. The best part was hiring a car with a through hotel driver for a day to explore Sagaing, Inwa and Amarapura. The driver (he head a hotel badge, I wish I remember his name!) was knowledgeable, the car (Toyota Crown) was well-maintained and the whole trip was perfect. Hotel also has bicycle for rent. Overall, highly recommended.

• Sophie (8/5): Great couple of hotels in Mandalay - I stayed in both Yadanarbon hotels due to maintainence at the City Centre one. Despite the better reviews for the Hotel Yadanarbon, I actually preferred its sister hotel, Yadanarbon dynasty. Much prettier setting due to being a mile or so out of town and having space for lovely gardens and bigger rooms. If only they could do something about the one yapping dog next door, it would be the most peaceful ambience of any hotel I stayed at in Myanmar. From Dynasty, the most and religious quarter area (pagodas, teak monastery, Mandalay hill and the palace moat) are closer (about 20- 30 minute walk) but you're not in the bustle of Mandalay. The rooms are beautifully done with mahogany furniture and balconies. Aye aye Mon, the duty manager was wonderfully friendly and made me feel like a VIP, but all the staff at both places were friendly. The hotel Yadanarbon by the railway is in an excellent location right in the heart of downtown, near the markets and tea shops and restaurants. Not as plush but still lovely rooms. Sadly the restuarant served me some old Papaya which made me very ill but special mention to the night bellboy who sat with me to make sure I didn't pass out and went to get me medicine at 4am. Indicative of the general level of attentiveness and care at these hotels. Would recommend.
• Allan (8/5): Good hotel in Mandalay - The hotel is near the national palace but the high temperature prevented much walking. We did two days of trips - inside Mandalay and out. The Pagodas in the area are spectacular.

Comfortable and clean rooms and great service from staff who helped to arrange our boat to Bagan and sorted out taxis etc. No hot water on the morning of departure which was a bit annoying as was desperate for a shower. Would stay here again.
• Robert (6/5): Mandalay Hotel - Stayed at the Yadanarbon Hotel for 2 nights. Room was somewhat on the spartan side but clean and quite. Air con worked fine, as did the tv. Bathroom was clean. WiFi in room was iffy but this seems to be normal for many of the hotels in Mandalay. The Hotel has a nice rooftop restaurant with a good menu selection and a dinner hour cultural show. I found the food to be quite good and the beer cold. The big plus for me was the friendly staff who were very attentive to all the guests. One in particular, a young lady named Nuay Nuay (phonetic), was especially effective in dealing with the guests. She has very good English language skills and assisted me in printing out some e-mails and arranging a driver/guide for a full day tour of Mandalay. All things considered I enjoyed my stay at the Yadanarbon.
• Marie (8/5): Good value hotel - The hotel is good value. The staff are friendly and efficient. The rooms are clean, but the beds are extremely hard. The street it is in is very difficult to walk in as there are large holes in the road, vehicles parked on the pavement etc and no street lighting. There is also a problem with noise as some nights the local people shout their devotions all night.
• Coco (6/5): Nice convenient hotel - 2nd time I have stayed here - hotel is fine, but rooms are noisy because of the neighbourhood - loudspeakers blaring prayers until 10pm and starting up again at 5... not much more to stay in the best deluxe room and it is quieter.
• Spencer (10/5): Beautiful room in a very convenient area. - Very popular hotel in a popular area. Taxi drivers will know it. No problems with the room. Staff was helpful and had good English. No complaints.
• Christian (10/5): Great stay! - Great place. Awesome view from rooftop restaurant. Really fast WiFi, not common in Myanmar. Short distance to most city sites.
• Queenie/Phoebe (8/5): Helpful staff, clean room and good restaurant - We stayed at this hotel for two nights. The room was clean and the sky bar (restaurant) serves decent european and burmese food. The hotel is located at the city centre, which makes it convenient for sight-seeing. It also provides hot water bath (with steady water pressure) and free wifi. However, what truly impressed us is the soft-ware of the hotel, e.g. the staff and especially Mr Si Thu (an extremely helpful and fluent English-speaking night shift receptionist). When asked about the day trip to Sagaing, Inwa and Amarapura, Si Thu offered candid advice, as he also works as a part-time tour guide (with official license!). Ultimately, we couldn't help but to invite him to be our tour guide for the day trip. The day trip was truly enjoyable, we liked his sharing of the local legends and information of the ruins. It was fun to travel with him, as he also has a good sense of humour. If you stays at this hotel, do consider asking him to be your tour guide for the day trips in/around Mandalay!
• Verified traveler (8/5): Great Staff! Nice Hotel! - The positives: Hotel lobby, gift shop, & room was nice. Good Price! The breakfast buffet & dinner was very well done. I wasn't really intrigued with the idea of the puppet show at a small hotel. Plus, I'm not one to like tourist shows. However, not only was the puppet show, the traditional harpist & singer, but also the dancer were outstanding! Lastly, the location is fairly close to the Royal Palace. I walked there, about 2-3 miles, but a taxi ride is close. Negatives: The market,next to the hotel,can get loud at night,whether it be scooters, and dogs running wild in the market, or loudspeakers. However,it's the price you pay for being in the hub of activity. Also, we did have bed bugs that could be a concern. We noticed a bug in bed, but didn't know what it was until we left the hotel. A couple hours later, both our legs had several bites that weren't there the night before. However, that could be rectified. Lastly, my wife brushed her teeth with the water, and was ill all the next day. Not the hotel's fault, because we didn't take enough precaution in a city with poor water quality. The Mgr. Aung Thu was extremely helpful by being not only concerned, but he gave my wife medicine that hydrated her. He was extremely helpful, and competent. His whole staff were very attentive throughout our stay. I would defintitely recommend the hotel. The bed bugs could have been an anamoly.

• Verified traveler (8/5): Fine for a night - It was good for a night. Room was comfortable. Left before breakfast was open, so can't comment on that. The puppet show at the rooftop restaurant was entertaining. Not much in the neighborhood worth mentioning, but they can arrange a taxi anywhere you want to go.
• T (8/5): Worth your money - The room was satisfyingly clean and spacious, and I did enjoy the frills that this hotel offered, such as complimentary breakfast in the morning as well was tour / transportation services. I arrived in the early morning and as soon as i checked in, i was able to conveniently book a full day tour plus a trip to U Bein's Bridge on the spot. This was a huge plus for me, especially as a first timer to Mandalay who would benefit enormously from having a private car and driver who can quickly take me around Mandalay's attractions. They also offer a free nightly Burmese cultural show at night, which comes with dinner (note: dinner is not complimentary). I was especially pleasantly surprised when the front desk called my room the night before i was due to check out to ask me if I needed a cab to the airport the next day. All in all, i can say that the staff and service at this hotel were superb.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Good value - Everything went well except the last ride back to the airport. Front desk promised a taxi for 12000 local money. Instead An old falling apart share a ride van came. I am the only one riding the van. The ride was literally painful to the Body. I refused to pay 12000 but the guy was arguing so I ended up paying 10000. The overall hotel stay is excellent except the games being played in arranging the transportation.
• Rene (6/5): Cllean hotel with friendly staff - Nice, clean and cheap place to stay. Friendly and helpful staff. Laundry service very expensive, it cost less than 1/4 of the hotel price in laundry just a block away. Hotel provides nightly cultural show on the upper floor, great idea, just need some fans, very hot there. We did not have breakfast as we got sick after having one. There are nearby places selling fresh Myanmar food, like pamcakes, yumm. Noise from nearby monastery, gongs, chanting and preaching can disturbing. Otherwise a great deal.ì

• Aaron (10/5): Great hotel with exceptional guest service - We loved this place! The staff is super helpful - they assisted us in booking numerous taxis, a boat trip to Bagan, and flights. They even got us a refund for the boat trip when we decided to change our travel plans at the last minutes so we could attend the Nat Pwe festival. There is always a full staff at the front desk as well as a doorman and security. The food is quite good for hotel food - it is not cheap, but that is to be expected. The breakfast was solid (omelette station was huge for us westerners) and they always were quick to bring out a glass of juice or some other treat when we arrived in the lobby. We stayed in the low season (Aug) and were given a much appreciated upgrade to a deluxe room. The TV has some decent selection for a little late night movie watching. The location also turned out to be very central to lots of places and there is an AMAZING local guide/driver father/son combo that hang out across the street. The Dad's name is Mr. Sweet (Ko Cho) and his son's name is Sweet Smile. They will approach most guests that walk out of the hotel (in a very nice manner) and ask if you want a guide. If you do not speak Burmese, and want to get a great tour in very good english from someone that has been doing it for 30 years, USE THEM. It made our time in Mandalay infinitely better. All in all this is a fantastic hotel for the price.
• Verified traveler (6/5): Utilitarian, in-town, mid-range hotel - Our triple room was generous in size, the bathroom had a comfortable modern tub and good shower (often not found in Myanmar). Decor and furniture were utilitarian. The reception desk was well-informed and helpful, though communication in English could be strained. Good hotel taxi service. The "free wifi" and lobby ATM machine never worked in the three days we were there. The rooftop open air restaurant had a good view of the city and delightful evening performances of Burmese live music and marionettes. The food was below average for dinner and the buffet breakfast was lackluster and rather limited. Hotel offers reasonable value for mid-range pricing.

• Verified traveler (6/5): Not bad, nothing special - we stayed here for 2 nights in July. The hotel is located on a side street that can only be described as chaotic. Walking along the sidewalks are impossible because stores, food stalls, scooters, and parked vehicles have taken them over. The road itself was muddy, fully of potholes, and generally filthy. It is like this all over Mandalay, so it's not really the hotel's fault. But a hotel on a main road would be more accessible on foot. the hotel itself was fine. The room was comfortable. The wifi was weak, but this seems to be the case all over Myanmar. The breakfast was okay. The free puppet show was underwhelming and really just a way to get you to spend money in the restaurant. The food in the restaurant was average, but expensive compared to other restaurants in the area (if you don't mind walking to them).

Lobby / reception staff were lovely. One of the ladies had great English and good recommendations for sightseeing. Rooftop / breakfast / bar staff could have been friendlier. Weren't overly nice for the Myanmar standard I'm now used to. Bed was fairly comfortable although received 2 singles instead of a queen. The cost of the mini bar and rooftop restaurant was way too high especially when you can eat and drink out across the street for a quarter of the price

The staff, including the taxi drivers employed by the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful. They could not have done more to make our stay more pleasant. • JustineMeiErn (10/5): Loved it! - The rooms were clean and checking in was a seamless process. Hot towels and welcome drinks were served right as we stepped towards reception. The hotel has a spacious rooftop, where breakfast is served and where a puppet show is performed at 7pm every evening. Staff were very friendly and helpful. One of them even helped with tying my longyi (Burmese wrap skirt)! They also connected us with an amazing taxi driver who spoke English and Cantonese, and who doubled as a tour guide on our visits to various landmarks. Location is excellent, with markets right outside selling fresh fruit and vegetables, dotted with several stalls serving local hawker fare. Nearby is Yadanarbon Market and Ocean shopping center, where you can find Myanmar crafted goods and a supermarket. Round the corner from the hotel, we discovered a well-stocked convenience store and Thai massage place. Street numbers are very organised and each block is typically shaped like a square, so places are easy to find.

Great place to stay with family. Would like to visit just to stay here. I have no words to compliment the staff and management for their great service and hospitality

• Wendy (10/5): Great hotel in Mandalay - As others have said, this is a gem of an hotel right in the heart of Mandalay. It's not on the best neighbourhood but it felt safe as the staff go out of their way to look after you. NOTHING was too much trouble either when at the hotel or answering requests by emai. I left here to go to Bagan where I stayed in a hugely more expensive hotel and the latter was sooooo disappointing in its value for money! I rate hotel Yadanabon as a GREAT PLACE to stay and RECOMMEND it HUGHLY.

• Verified traveler (6/5): Big and roomy but could serve better food - Hotel was fairly clean and our room was spacious although the furnishings were a bit old. Staff was very nice and accommodating. My only somewhat negative comments perhaps were that Internet connection wasn't very fast (although this seems to be a problem overall in the country so the hotel may not be to blame) and the cable TV was shut off around midnight (but was turned back on a few minutes later, possibly because of some guest calling in to request for it). We also made the mistake of ordering Western food in the dining restaurant (as we had eaten Burmese food for the past couple of days and wanted a change), which was not good at all. So avoid the pasta and sandwiches when you go to this place.
• Yan (8/5): A Very Good Stay - Friendly reception. Easy to arrange day tours. Great start of the day with breakfast on the rooftop terrace. Comfortable room, good a/c, surprisingly good WiFi. Located on a gritty street, but then most Mandalay streets are gritty. Surrounded by lots of street food, and easy walk to the local market, the Palace Wall, and even a shopping mall. (BTW, highlight of my Mandalay stay was sunset at U Bein Bridge, about 20 min taxi ride outside of town.)
• Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel, friendly staff but watch the noise - We have 2 children (ages 10 & 6 years) and had a very confortable stay, but might have been lucky with the noise. The rooftop (6th floor) puppet show (which was lovely) went until ~9 pm and was pretty noisy from our rooms on the 5th floor. It was OK for us but could have been disturbing for people with very young children trying to get them to sleep earlier. I don't think it would have caused problems on lower floors. Similarly, the loudspeakers from the local temples and mosques started up in the early morning. It didn't disturb us and just felt like part of the travel experience, but some lighter sleepers might have found it disturbed them.
• Nicholas (8/5): Nice roof top breakfast, ATM in lobby - A nice place to stay, almost no street noise on the top floor where we stayed. Breakfast was good and hotel staff was very nice. Also close to the Chinese night Is close with lots of steer food. ATM in the lobby.
• Martin (8/5): Brilliant service at a very reasonable hotel - Quite outstanding service above and beyond what we could have expected from particularly Mrs Khaing Soe, the manageress of this hotel, on the day we were due to leave. I was not well at check out and we had 7 hours to wait for an evening coach. We were shown to a vacant room, free of charge, for me to rest in. When we later went to leave to go for the bus, the manageress insisted on taking us to the coach station in a hotel car and sought out the bus staff to explain where we needed to get off. We've never had better service in any hotel anywhere! It isn't in the best of locations, but there are helpful staff and a good taxi service across the road to offer tours. Evening dinner and breakfast were both reasonable rather than very good, but overall this hotel was excellent value for money and we'd recommend it to anyone else because of the positive attitude of the staff.
