- optionalextras2 (10/5): Quirky and Unique - Quirky hotel but very nice. It was away from any town so you either need to BYO food or eat in the hotel. The room was nice but it was all about the other things, the deer and monkeys you may see during your stay, the nightly entertainment plus hot springs. It made for a unique stay which we enjoyed. Breakfast too was very nice.

The dinner buffet was underwhelming, but the breakfast buffet was excellent. I was a little concerned about the formosan sika deer pen; it was a muddy mess and I felt badly for the two deer kept in it. Some grass or enrichment for those beautiful animals would be beneficial.

- rotterdamerik (10/5): Great and very happy stay at this hotel! - We stayed here two nights during our Taiwan trip. The scenery is stunning. Checking in was very friendly and attentive. The staff really took their time to explain everything. The hotel is quite big. The gym is a bit small. But it was ok for two nights. The room was very nice. Only the toilet was a bit small. The hot spring is absolutely amazing. Especially the outdoor onsen is so beautiful and really a relaxing and pleasurable experience. Everything is very well taken care of. It’s really a very professional hotel, but with a very pleasant and personal touch. Breakfast is a feast. So many options. We ate vegetarian, but still so much to try. The breakfast is also very well taken care of. It’s all going like clockwork. Again the staff is so nice. Highly recommended!!! I would love to spend here again some nights in the future.

However, if you visit this place you will want to enjoy all the amenities within the property. By the way, all the amenities can still be enjoyed for free after you check out of your room

- Yu-Chen (10/5): 悠閒舒適的住宿體驗 - 雖然已經是老飯店了但入住體驗還是很棒～ 環境整潔、在山裡也很清幽，飯店內設施也不錯，後面有魚池跟梅花鹿可以觀賞，還有健身房及遊戲室可以消耗體力，晚餐的自助餐品相多小組都在水準之上，久久來台東在知本老爺住上一晚真的體會到台東的悠閒氛圍！
- Ann Marie (8/5): - 知本最著名的溫泉酒店，房間乾淨舒適，溫泉水棒棒的，整體環境和服務都不錯，唯獨是飲食方面真的有點一言難盡。如果是喜歡吃自助餐的朋友，其實他們自助餐真的不錯，但是如果續住兩三天，每天都是吃那些東西就真的有點膩。雖然說有鐵板燒和火鍋兩個選擇，但是已經多次回來這邊公幹然後過來休息的我們，試過兩次鐵板燒之後都決定不會再回去吃鐵板燒了。食物質素非常普通，又不能另外單點其他食物，只能以套餐來吃，然後鐵板燒師傅的態度是快點煮完快點收工，兩次都是吃得最難受的鐵板燒。反過來說火鍋吃得開開心心，食物質素以火鍋來說都不錯，但是選擇只有火鍋和自助餐的話想多住幾天都沒有可能。所以這個真的是美中不足。如果酒店能夠將飲食方面提高一下，提供更多不同選擇給願意付錢upgrade的人，相信會更加多人來。

- Tien Tsung (8/5): - Our recent stay was almost perfect. They provided shuttle service to the airport and two train stations (for a fee). The all-you-can-eat restaurant (breakfast and dinner) was outstanding. So was the hot springs on the second floor. Staff was very nice and helpful. The only problem was the fact that their AC system has no heat. Called the front desk and they ran out of heaters. The room was freezing at night.

- CMENG FENG (10/5): - 環境很好，泡湯解壓的好地方，房間我們訂購4人房，有多一位小朋友有收加床費用，但沒給我們床，有點比較不合理，畢竟一晚13000千多，5個人擠2張雙人床，真的不是很好睡覺

- Shao Chi (8/5): - 以五星級飯店來說，房間坪數太小，所以床也很小，睡起來很侷促，家庭房裡只放的下一張有靠背的椅子，都沒一個舒適的位置好坐
- CHAO HSIANG (10/5): 從年輕泡到自己都變成老爺了 - 台灣溫泉酒店CP值最高的酒店，溫泉品質應該也是數一數二，房間內就可以泡湯，唯獨餐點一直是我很嫌棄的地方，可是畢竟我去泡湯的就不挑剔了，陽台會有油煙味也是我這次覺得很糟的，其他都不錯給它85分，油煙扣10分餐點扣5分
- Minoru (8/5): - 露天風呂まで坂道を3分程度は、登らなくてはならない。しかし、風呂の温度が高くゆっくり入っていられなかった。2つの湯船のうち一つは、水であった。2階の大浴場は、設備が老朽化していて、また日本の日帰り温泉より残念な感じがした。部屋は広くて、風呂場も広くて部屋で温泉に入れるのは良いところであった。

- IanWriter (6/5): A good hotel but, but some flaws -- not a 5 star. - This is a large, luxurious, but slightly dated spa-type hotel, in a hot-spring area. It is set in a lovely natural environment and offers many facilities to take advantage of the location. My room was quite handsome with a good bed, two night tables, a desk, a low chair with coffee table, TV, and a room safe. There was no separate chair for the desk so I had to use the coffee table chair which was uncomfortably low. Unusually for a hotel in this class, there were no USB charger outlets. The room was very cold but only a light duvet was provided for the bed, so I and others in my group had an uncomfortably cold night. The breakfast buffet was extensive but uninspired. I arrived as soon as the buffet opened but found the scrambled eggs completely cold. There were two flasks of filter coffee sitting on a hot plate, but both were luke warm because the hot plate temperature was set too low. At the omelette preparation station, several fried eggs had been prepared and then left on individual plates for anyone who wanted them, which again ensured that the eggs would be at best luke warm. A supposedly 5 star hotel should not offer guests unheated rooms in uncomfortably cold weather, and it should not serve carelessly prepared breakfast fare.
- MINGYEN (10/5): 美好的知本溫泉 - 放鬆ㄧ切就從入住時刻開始，體驗一切的活動設施，晚上還有原住民歌舞表演，用心打造的氛圍。還有禮貌親切的服務人員，也辛苦耐心的服務大家。 唯一有一個小注意事項，若晚餐選擇自助式晚餐，當人多時用餐顯得較為侷促。不過，這不影響我美好的知本溫泉旅。

- WEI EN (10/5): Only hot sprint and hotel option in ChiBen - This is one of my favorite hotel in Taiwan, and they offer excellent service and facilities to enrich your traveling experience in ChiBen. I visit this hotel many times, and they always keep polishing all details in hotel. I do suggest to spend all your time with hot spring or activities which arranged by hotel. Please always remember to pre-register some activities, and Sun-rise or hot air balloon will be very popular in specific period.

You can also take in-room hot springs with large pools in each bathroom. Hotel is big but well organized. Buffet dinner -- typical fare.
- AndyF430 (10/5): Excellent Facilities - This is a large full service hotel with large outdoor pool and various hot springs facilities on offer. The lobby is large, the dining room large and uncrowded (there are several 1F restaurant options), and WiFi everywhere. The lounge bar serves (bottled) craft beer. My room was large and very well appointed. Large comfy bed & lots of toiletries. Enjoyed my stay here.
- ITing (8/5): 溫泉品質非常好 - 遇到的工作人員都非常好，不過因為颱風，戶外設施全都無法使用。颱風走了的隔天，因為還在環境清理，戶外設施還是無法使用。原本此趟最期待的就是戶外溫泉，沒想到卻一次都沒有體驗到，相當可惜。天氣因素雖然不是飯店造成的，但一樣的費用卻只剩室內浴場可以使用，如果飯店能給予下次入住優惠，可能會更加完美。
- CHUAN SHENG (6/5): 打掃人力不足,下午3:30房間都還沒準備好. - 清潔打掃人手不足, 入住房間到下午 3:30 都還沒準備好. 商務中心也很小, 設備簡陋像網咖. 房間浴室只有溫泉水沒有自來水. 唯一值得稱讚的, 是半夜三點我們要checkout, 飯店人員幫忙準備早餐盒帶走.

- James (10/5): - Very nice hotel. It may be 30 years old, the room was very nice and does not feel old. The hot spring soak tub in the room was wonderful. The buffet for dinner was ok. Enough choices of decent food. All staff were friendly and helpful. The property is on a steep hill so it isn’t as easy to walk down and up. But the hotel has shuttle to local attractions as well as the train station.

- aukahkay62 (10/5): Japanese style onsen resort hotel - This spa hotel is located in Taitung county. Basically it is a Japanese onsen style hotel with indoor and outdoor onsen. The room is spacious with your own private onsen tub in the bathroom. There is a sumptuous buffet spread comprising Western and Taiwanese dishes in the morning. At 2030, there is an aboriginal cultural show in the Amphitheatre of the hotel featuring performers from the Amei tribe. In inclement weather, the performance is held indoors in the hotel lobby which was what happened during my stay. A great hotel with a wonderful hot spring experience.

- Hsu Chang (10/5): 服務滿分的溫泉飯店 - 飯店本身比較舊，但房間經過重新整修，房間本身內部設施很好，飯店的露天溫泉非常棒，早晚餐的樣式選擇多但品質還好，沒有很好吃。我們續住了一晚，因為房間隔音較差，第二天對面房間入住了幾位年輕人喧嘩聲較大，我請櫃檯幫忙反映，櫃檯主動提出要幫我們換到其他樓層的同樣房型，雖然櫃檯也表示無法保證新房間一定會比較安靜，但換房後我們非常滿意。在週末假日入住客人非常多的情況下，飯店人員依然盡力協助我們，非常感謝老爺的服務人員。
- Yuehting (8/5): 要加快腳步跟上時代的5星級老爺 - 整體：7.5 服務：8（大致上都不錯，會打招呼，會主動詢問，扣2分是收盤子有點慢，退房被插隊看到了都沒有反應） 裝潢：6（以5星級飯店來說太隨便，動線很不流暢，完全感覺不到專業的氛圍，嚴格來講有點像普通的渡假村） 餐廳：6（自助晚餐菜色選擇多樣性正常，但質量低的有點過分，給面子都試過一遍，所以第2天吃外面的） 設施：7.5（玩的東西挺多，不過有點舊） 房間：7（裝潢挺漂亮，隔音差，床偏小，枕頭一般，馬桶間很小，浴室尚可，陽台可有可無，電視不同頻道聲音大小有差，還差很 遠） 環境：9（山景圍繞著，一出大門口就很舒服，下午12點01到3點就例外啦當然） 溫泉：9（是溫泉，很喜歡）

- Hsin-Yu (4/5): - This is a family-oriented hotel. In other words, expecting plenty of kids running around and yelling everywhere (lobby, aisles, facilities, restaurants etc.) in the hotel. You can hear them even if you stay in your room. If you're looking for a quiet and relaxing vacation, avoid this place. If you're bringing kids, it's perfect.

- CHING-WEN (8/5): Great resort style hotel located in Zhiben - Great resort style hotel located in Zhiben, Taitung, stayed 3 nights with buffet breakfast and dinner, overall great experience. Hotel property is old, suggest Management to consider renovating rooms in the near future. Parking is not great either, limited spots since there was no underground parking. Regarding food, overall buffet was alright. Dinner was mostly the same menu and breakfast changed more frequently. One night we decided to try the teppanyaki (had to pay cost difference of buffet) was much tastier than the buffet.

- Verified traveler (8/5): 可以泡湯渡假的好地方！ - 房間寬敞舒適，服務人員有禮親切，服務周到，是渡假泡湯的好地方。可惜餐廳雖有特色但菜色內容有些不如預期，又限時90分鐘，想要輕鬆地喝杯餐後飲料就有些緊湊，若限時120分鐘就好多了。自助式早餐還不錯，自助式晚餐內容就僅略高於普通，但還算可以舒適地飽餐一頓。酒店內設施齊全，也有原住民歌舞表演與射箭等活動，使悠閒的渡假除了泡湯又增添點綴，但酒店地點略為偏僻，周圍步行距離內沒什麼地方可去，也沒什麼商店，自行開車可能較適合。整體而言，在酒店內活動就可以愉快地度假，且透過網路訂房價格合理，會期待再去渡假。值得推薦！

- HSINYU (8/5): 戶外溫泉裸湯環境舒適 - 1. 前台接待人員非常專業且不失親切 2. 客房寬敞舒適、床很舒服、Wi-Fi收訊佳 3. 晚餐buffet雖不是豪華路線，但算應有盡有，口味不錯也吃飽，推薦飲料區可以自行搭配口味的草本茶 4. 園區寬敞，有室外大眾池與裸湯，還有許多植物與動物（梅花鹿！） 5. 夜晚安靜，令人放鬆
- Verified traveler (6/5): - 第一天入住房內有很多果蠅，反應後換房處理方式可以接受，換房的房間也算滿意，但如果沒有房間可供換房時，很難想像住在這間房會多令人不適，重點為貴飯店是高級飯店，根本不應該出現這樣的房間供客人入住。自助餐管制要求客人戴口罩做的很好，但自助餐吃的時候也有很多果蠅飛來，這點需要多加改善。客房清掃時建議不要使用噴灑空氣芳香劑，我想有一些房客對這味道會感到不適，如果想維護房內空氣清香，建議使用擴香瓶的方式，但務必慎選，如果沒有把握，建議維持房內空氣清新即可。基本上行前看到google評價，面對大眾負面評論，不要使用官方用語回應，看久了會令人失去入住的意願。

- Mukjjj (2/5): 號稱4星級， 實際0 星級的服務 Self proclaimed 4.5* hotel with verified 0* Customer Service - Worse customer service ! 長那麼大從來沒有去過台東， 趁這次長假加上我們的anniversary 決定去台東玩！ 一路上一切都是那麼美好， 決定在最後一天到知本老爺來個happy ending - 泡湯！ 司機在2:00把我們放下後就離開了。 誰知惡夢開始！ 5:30 吃完自助晚餐, 我老公衝去房間急著上廁所。 整晚就在小小的廁所度過長長的夜晚！ 而我在隔天早上吃完早餐後也開始上吐下瀉. 我請櫃檯看有沒有止瀉藥可以給我們應急， 但飯店不能給。我們必須坐5個小時的火車回家， 所以決定去醫院ER 檢查。 做完抽血檢驗報告， 證實食品中毒， 腸胃炎。 回到飯店， 我們找經理卻說在開會不方便， 整個處理方式就表現 “we don’t care”. 也沒有人問我們好不好。 真的很心汗。 前臺先生看到醫生証明腸胃炎， 就說你們自己的問題， 我什麼也不想多說， 指了上面「食物中毒」給他看。 我們早上9:00吃完早餐到5:30晚餐除了飯店的麻糬， 我們也沒任何東西。 我們不是奧客， 我們不上報也沒找記者，也不是要求hotel 要做什麼補償。 但基本的關懷慰問什麼都沒有。 其中一位工作人員問我為什麼我們二人要訂四人房？ 我老公身高194公分， 網上只有二小床，他不能睡， 我們只能多付錢睡舒服一點， 這樣也錯嗎? 難道我一定是總統才能睡總統房嗎? 我們在lobby 等了20分最後只說我們付你們的醫療費用加上晚餐錢。 言語下真的是對我們已經仁慈了。 當我們要離開的時候， 有人才敲窗告知我們的火車票要改時間會被扣錢， 這筆錢我要自己付。 經過這件事想起我在日本遇到相似的情況, Ritz hotel 飯店經理馬上帶我們去看醫生， 去幫我們買藥， 折紙鶴祝我們早日康復。 上次在香港香格里拉飯店蓋羽絨被整個大過敏， 反應給飯店， 三位經理加二位assistant managers 全部來房間道歉， 了解情況，送上禮盒。 真的很心寒。 台灣的服務業， 四星級飯店都不到一個水準。 但收費比國外五星級的飯店高。 想起那晚在房間內看的那本書 「 我與老爺酒店」by 林清波-「創新是追求進步的原動力，在旅館業中，創新的意義在於尋找新方法去滿足客人的需求，尤其要想辦法去察覺客人尚未提出的需要，」我想他的員工從沒有讀過他的書。 how ironic. 希望他的老闆可以看到這一篇也希望可以讓他們的員工好好反省。 房間的角落真的，都沒有清乾淨， 都是灰塵還有蜘蛛絲， 浴缸牆都是霉， 號召四星的飯店😞0星級的服務品質。

- Larry-Calif (10/5): RELAX AT SPA RESORT - As we arrived on the bus, the hotel looked inviting after a long day of sightseeing. Our Room #203 a triple with a double bed and a twin bed overlooked the spacious enclosed interior lobby. The room was decorated in light beige color walls with accent matching carpet. The desk, chair, nightstands furniture were light color natural wood creating close relationship with nature. The room was spacious and very comfortable. Too bad we are only stayed one night. The bathroom was modern with marble walls and floor. Walk-in shower and in-room hot tub. Spa Paradise: It was a family place enjoying the exciting atmosphere. It has hot spring slide, hot whirlpool, and ultrasonic bath for everyone in the family. I can still hear the sound of children screaming and laughter from the hot spring slide. Open Air Spa: The hotel mineral springs comes directly below ground source bicarbonate spring. Since the perfect spring quality is both colorless and odorless, after bathing the skin is smooth and soft. Outdoor Evening Show: The evening show was a song and dance show performance by the local aboriginals. They were very talented. After they show the audience was invited to take pictures with them. Naruwan Buffet Restaurant We had both dinner and breakfast buffet at the hotel restaurant. Naruwan offered American, Chinese, Japanese, European, and Taiwanese cuisine - taking the best or favorite dishes of each cuisine and presents as a buffet. The multitude of entrees and side dishes were both vegetarian friendly and vegan options. With the great service and wonderful food, I felt RELAX AT SPA RESORT ... at Hotel Royal Chihpen.

- Twyed (2/5): Poor service, extremely dated - Man at front desk extremely rude, hotel did not respond to my review on google, so I wanted to make sure it is also here, as this was such a terrible experience. Horribly expensive and extremely dated, food was terrible and the service is just nasty. really not worth the money.
