- Robert (10/5): - I had a really great stay at the Red Roof Inn in Herkimer, NY and wanted to share the experience.
From the moment we walked in, everything felt clean, welcoming, and well taken care of. The main lobby and check-in area were spotless, and the dining room was just as nice and organized. When we entered our room, the first thing we noticed was how good it smelled — fresh and very clean. The room itself was comfortable, the bed was great to sleep on, and I’m happy to say there were absolutely no bugs.
The staff were friendly, attentive, and clearly cared about the guests. A special thank you to Laura, who took the time to guide us about future stays and recommended the Red Roof membership and the mobile app, which we’ll definitely be using.
The coffee in the morning was surprisingly excellent. My girlfriend usually drinks just one cup of coffee in the morning, but at Red Roof Inn she had three — that says a lot! Breakfast had a really nice selection: bagels, English muffins, fruit, cereal, jams, cream cheese, butter, hard-boiled eggs, orange juice, apple juice, milk, and a variety of coffee creamers including French vanilla, hazelnut, and regular. There were also granola bars and both chocolate and blueberry muffins. The toasters even had very clear instructions, which was a nice touch.
The breakfast staff were constantly restocking items, wiping down tables, greeting everyone with a friendly “good morning,” and asking if there was anything they could do to make the experience better. It really made the atmosphere feel welcoming.
Parking was easy with plenty of spaces available, which made things very convenient. The room price was also very affordable, especially considering how clean and comfortable everything was.
Another big plus was the TV selection. They use Spectrum, so there were tons of channels to choose from along with movies, which made relaxing in the room even better.
Overall, this was a very pleasant stay and we would definitely return. Noting was amazing

Would recommend to anyone.

- I7747SVannemarieb (10/5): Customer Service Wowza!!! - My husband and I stayed here on February 8,2026 on our way back to Cape MA from Canada! We had a great experience there and I especially want to note the exceptional customer service of Laura at the front desk! I left my sleep apnea pillow behind in the room and realized too late to go back! So i called Red Roof and spike to Laura and she and her boss right away arranged to ship it back to me on the cape! They expedited shipping and I will get it in 3 days! The cost to me was only $20 for shipping which was a lot less than it would cost for a new sleep apnea pillow! My husband and I will definitely be back to Red Roof Herkimer NY in June this year on our way to Canada!

- Jackie (6/5): - Convenient Train noise all night
- rich (5/5): Pleasant staff hotel is what you would expect from a Thruway chain Motel - Location My room smelled a little bit like wet dog and the spray they used to cover, wet dog smell. They shouldn’t have dogs in all of the rooms only some for dog people specifically I don’t even own a dog so why am I staying in a room that dog stay in?
- Sirena (5/5): i felt comfortable - it was okay

- brianmU5456ZF (10/5): My time at Herkimer Red Roof Inn - I have been going to this hotel since 2012 and have always found everything and everyone pleasant and accommodating. I stayed here for almost 4 months this spring and about 2 months this fall/ winter. Chris D.( milk guy) and Theresa W. are two of the best examples of quality service with a smile. I would and do recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great place with superior service.
- Toneakqua (5/5): Decent stay for a good proce - Price & location Walls could be cleaned, shower head should be replaced.
- jodym127 (10/5): Help with messed-up booking and great coffee too! - I had inadvertently booked a room online using a third-party app (I thought I was using the Red Roof Inn app, I swear!) and was significantly upcharged. Upon arrival the desk clerk, Todd, very patiently sorted the mess out and helped me rebook the room I actually wanted at the normal reasonable price. It took him a while but he remained unfailingly cheerful. We were very grateful. The free coffee is also excellent, and that is extremely rare at motel chains. Thanks, Todd!
- Go20493529758 (10/5): Amazing front desk support - I don’t normally write reviews, but tonight deserves one. My friend and I arrived at the hotel cold, overwhelmed, and going through a very difficult situation. Lynn at the front desk went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and happy with our stay. We spent today dealing with constant road blocks and her empathy was exactly what we both needed tonight. Lynne’s compassion for others is exactly why we will be staying at red roof inn whenever we need a hotel moving forward, and we will be recommending this hotel to all of our friends.
My friend is struggling with mental health challenges, and Lynne treated us with such empathy, dignity, and humanity when we really needed it most. Her kindness turned an extremely stressful night into something bearable. People like her make all the difference in the world.
The hotel is so lucky to have her, and I hope management sees how valuable she is. If you’re thinking of staying here, know that you’ll be welcomed by someone who genuinely cares.
Thank you, Lynn. We will never forget what you did for us. Red Roof Inn has officially gained two new loyal customers for life. I am truly impressed with Lynn’s impeccable work ethic, and the grace she showed us while we were struggling.
We can not even put into words how grateful we are to have dealt with such a wonderful worker like Lynn.

- Annette (8/5): All in all the stay was nice. I didn't get my room clean but I had enough towels. - The location was very near my daughter's school and close to the thruway. There was a loud sound when I flushed the toilet and the iron didn't work.
- Erin (10/5): - Comfy, quiet, property outside was well lit NA
- Alane (10/5): Comfortable and secure - Clean and easily assessable to highway Nothing
- Verena (7/5): Solid, no frills motel stay - This is your run of the mill, no frills motel. I had three quiet, good nights' sleeps. Some decent food options were walkable from the place, and everything felt safe and fine. If you're looking for a place to crash, this place will definitely do. As someone who sadly needs to eat gluten free, the breakfast had not much to offer - but I did expect it and brought my own things. I mean, there were a few imperfections, but from a motel for this price, nothing worse than you'd expect.
- Natalie (10/5): Clean, comfy beds and pillows, good staff and a great continental breakfast to get us on our way in the morning! All in - Arrived late just using this as a half way stop on the way to Cape Cod from Canada. Quick check in, good coffee, warm drink on arrival in the foyer.
- ITRT (8/5): Greatly Improved - I was pleasantly surprised to see the Red Roof Inn had been improved since the last time we were here a few years ago. It is a budge-friendly hotel close to the exit off the New York State Thruway. The room was clean, ship-shape and affordable. We were greeted by a friendly and pleasant staff. The continental breakfast offered choices including oatmeal, yogurt, muffins, hard boiled eggs, cereals, coffee and juices and included in the price. There is a Denny’s across the parking lot if you would prefer a hot breakfast. WiFi is free and fast. It is the best budget hotel I have stayed in and highly recommend it if your travels bring you to Herkimer.
- Sharon (8/5): - All good A little dated
- Joyce (8/5): 3 Nights in Herkimer - The inn was close to where we wanted to be and clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good choice of items continental. Coffee was good. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The bed frame sounds getting on or off beds. Felt like it was going to pop a spring and very annoying. Would prefer those changed.
- Karen (9/5): -
- Alejandro (8/5): -
- Ori (8/5): - nice breakfast with some fresh ingredients. metal beds were a little creaky.
- Etkin (8/5): -
- Prasad (10/5): - Efficient check in, clean room, close to highway, multiple dinners close by.
- Amelia (10/5): - Every employee I interacted with was lovely, they wanted to make my stay as comfortable as possible. This is a nice budget option.
- Andrew (10/5): - Friendly staff clean rooms
- Jennifer (8/5): - Great
- Fay (10/5): - Everything was great except the people in the room above us. The noise coming from the room woke us up throught the night till about 2 am. Every step was extremely loud including the moving of furniture periodically. It sounded like people were wrestling. It was a terrible nights sleep.
- RYAN (8/5): - Wonderful staff at check in.
Clean room.
Met expectations
- Rockne (8/5): - Priced ok
- Trisha (6/5): - Although the room was clean the air conditioning didn’t keep the room very cool and the room had a definite unpleasant odor.
- William (10/5): - This was a surprising find. First and foremost was the great check in staff, I think her name was Stephanie. Very cheerful and welcoming. Housekeeping was great. So was breakfast and staff. The lobby was warm and homey.
- Mary (10/5): - This was a 1 night stay as we were passing through. The staff was very friendly and the property is older but well care for. Room was very roomy and clean. Would recommend this hotel. It's near Coopertown as well, baseball hall of fame.
- Rolf (9/5): Alles bestens. - Das Personal war sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Wenn überhaupt das kleine Badezimmer. Für eine Nacht reicht es aber.
- Yvonne (10/5): - Room was clean, beds comfortable. Good breakfast with choices!
- MARK (7/5): Met my needs - Breakfast ok. Location great- right off highway. N.a.
- Jordyn (10/5): - Let areas were very accommodating and clean
- Tricia (10/5): - Charming, updated vintage looking motel. Beautiful fall mums around property were nice touch! We liked being on ground floor and able to park our motorcycle trike in front of our room.
- Martin (8/5): - The rooms and service was clean and the hospitality workers were friendly and accommodating. The only issue I have is the construction worker that stay there during the week. park there oversized pickup trucks and vehicles that should be parked away from the car sized spots. One such pickup backed into a spot till tires touched the chock. His truck bed was like 3 ft. from the rooms door opening. Its not exactly safe. You cant depend on common sense because ppl today dont give a hoot about anyone but themselves. So I would instruct them to park in the rear of hotel instead of outside floor level rooms. Now that would be 1. Courteous 2. Common sense. common sense.
- Jennifer (6/5): - Train and highway noise made sleep impossible.
- Kirk (8/5): - Old, but clean.
- Alton (5/5): - Good location The beds are awful. The bath tub has a bad shower head
- patricia (2/5): - The room was next to the expressway and very noisy. The bed mattress was on a sheet of metal and every time you moved the bed would sound like thunder or someone closing a door.
- Jackson (10/5): Enjoyable stay - Quiet rooms and friendly staff. Clean and comfortable, and a nice breakfast.
- John (10/5): - Right off I90 in Herkimer, it was a relatively inexpensive place to stay for our trip to Turning Stone Resort Casino. Clean and convenient. Would stay there again if we go to another show at the Resort…
- James (8/5): - Staff was friendly and quick to help resolve minor issues with our room. Room was comfortable, but you did have to deal with active railroad sounds. But. That’s what this stretch of highway has to offer tired drivers.
- Doug (10/5): - Great place to stay
- Tina (10/5): - Clean room, friendly staff, good simple breakfast, comfy room and bed
- madison (10/5): - Stayed 1 night with my 2 friends, room was very clean and cozy. Beds were comfy, bathrooms clean! Front desk were super kind and free breakfast wasn’t bad!! We felt very comfortable and safe!
- Stacia (8/5): - Quick and easy check in. Very friendly staff. Great continental breakfast. Very inconvenient to have the sink outside bathroom, not enough room in bathroom to change comfortably. Other than that, clean and comfortable room.
- Pam (8/5): - Great value!
- Irene (6/5): - The place was neat and clean. Next door there is a Denny's, outside of that you need to travel to get to a restaurant. The hotel is right next to railway tracks that is used for long freight trains. This is noisy.
- erica493 (10/5): A pleasant surprise - We were pleasantly surprised by this outstanding budget hotel. We picked it for the price and because it was close to the highway (NY Thruway) as we passed through eastern NY on our way home. It turned out to be a great choice. Our room was exceptionally clean without smelling of disinfectant, quiet, and comfortable. The "continental" breakfast had everything we could want... Okay--no waffle machine, but who really needs that? Desk clerks, both at check in and check out were friendly, polite, and knowledgeable. What more could you want? If traveling back through this area, we would likely stay here again.
- Paradise242456 (10/5): Fantastic Stay! Friendly & Clean - Excellent place to stay! EVERY staff member personable and went out of their way to welcome us and make us comfortable! Rachel was killing it during the continental breakfast to ensure everything was full and perfect throughout the time! Great experience!
- Julie M (6/5): - The bed Was Not very comfortable. Something was wrong with the Matress /box spring!! Everytime you moved /turned over it squeaked. Did not make for a good night sleep. No elevator.
- Diane (10/5): - Nothing fancy, but very clean and comfortable beds! No elevator so we asked for a first floor room.
- A7982VZchristopherp (10/5): Simply the best! - If I could give this place 10 stars I would! The staff at the red roof in HERKIMER is some of the best I’ve dealt with and I travel for work all year round. From Theresa at the front desk managing sometimes 30 to 40 of us coming in all at once staying week to week to Paul the manager is always friendly and accommodating. Chris on overnight we would open up the breakfast a little early for us when we had early starts so we could get something to eat before we start our day and of course Todd, who would print out again sometimes 30+ receipts for all the guys to take on day of checkout so we could enter our per diem With our company. It’s a small modest place, but it’s always immaculate and the people are outstanding.
- Holmes (9/5): -
- Neal (8/5): - Close to Cooperstowns
- Celso (8/5): After a long and hard work day, a great place to relax and refill the energy - Clean and safe Nothing to complain

- teresadR8482JY (10/5): Girls Trip September 2025 - The hotel was clean and the rooms were nice and roomy. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. I wish I had gotten all of their names because everyone from check-in to check-out and in between were great. I would like to thank Todd, Teresa, Laurie, Paul, Betty, and Jessica for helping to make our girls trip memorable.
