Guest Reviews
- Ken (2/5): Overall bad experience - Our experience with room 8239 was all around not good. The photos on the web site are either very old or doctored. The carpet is very stained. The clock on the wall doesn’t work. There are a few pictures hanging, but there are now screws on the wall where the mirror and a few pictures once hung. Do not rent this room if you have small kids – many dangling extension cords in the bedroom = choking hazard. The kitchen is fine. There is no front desk assistance and no maid service. Maid service is $50 extra. Furniture is beat up. The place looks like it has not been maintained or deep cleaned in years. Front desk staff are for the apartment building, not for short term rentals. They offer no assistance. Overall I felt I was ripped off as this room was not accurately represented. I regret not taking photos as I am disputing my credit card charges. Lastly, when you arrive, you have to call the number on your reservation and wait about 30 minutes for someone to bring the key to the room, a long time when you have been travelling for 12+ hours. We will no longer use Hotels.com as this room has not been vetted and they are no help.
- Karen (8/5): Close to Smithsonian Craft Show - Great location near the National Building Museum, lots of amenities, had a slight delay checking in. Front desk not always staffed, so the time you tell them you are checking in is the time they will have someone there to meet you.
- Valerie (6/5): Service leaves something to be desired. - Main bed was comfortable. Sofa bed and another fold down bed were impossible to sleep on due to comfort. We asked to extend our stay by 1 day and she said she would get back to us. She didn’t let us know until the morning of at 9:30 am that we had to be out by 11:30 am. Follow up/follow through leave much to be desired. The hallways smelled of rotten garbage one day but once inside the apartment the smell went away. Ideal location for walking to all the different museums and monuments around town. Lots of food around. Overall I would give this a 3.5/5.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - PCtable. ouu;;ll pull out couch not comfortable. nice big bed in bedroom. flushing of toilets heard all night long or running water from another source. kept waking me up. spacious. good location near china town. neighbor complained knocking on my door saying I was talking on the phone too loudly. walls must be extremely thin because I was not speaking loudly. neighborhood appeared to be safe.
- Carps (8/5): Good location. - We enjoyed staying at Suite Home America. It was close to public transportation and were able to walk to the mall from there. There were several things that needed repair in the suite and we left a list. The bed was comfortable, but the pull out sofa was not. It was convenient to have a washer and dryer. The hot tub on the roof was great.
- Zahir (10/5): Nice long stay - I would say the most interesting thing about this property is the location. It is near to everything, Union Station, Walmart, Capital One Arena, metro stations, Safeway and lots of good cafes.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Got there early so no one was there to meet us. - Frustrating arrival and departure since no staff is available.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Overall a solid place if you need an apartment style place instead of a hotel. When there was an issue with the wifi, the staff was very responsive. The bed was amazingly comfortable though we would have preferred the tv to be in the living room instead of the bedroom. It was clean when we arrived except for the coffee pot which the cleaning crew might have just missed since it was back in the stand. The gym was decent and better then a standard hotel gym. The location was excellent, at least for our purposes. The apt itself isn't in the most exciting or nicest area but it's a 10-15 minute walk from everything you could want including the train station, the convention center, museums, good restaurants, etc. The only thing I would suggest editing is that the website listing on hotels.com said there was no option to request a crib but the welcome booklet said that they are available. So one of those is presumably incorrect, and if there had been the option to request a crib it would have saved us hauling a portable crib with us.
- Lennart (8/5): - Bra läge i stan.
Fick ej den lägenheten som var beskriven när jag beställde.
Bäddsoffan var som en hängmatta och gick ej att ligga i.
Vi fick lägga madrassen på golvet.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Apartment could use some updating and paint. But great location and building
- Gretchen (10/5): Great spot! - Easy check-in and check-out with the concierge. This is an apartment in an apartment building. Nice pool area on 10th floor outside and great observation/lounge area outside on 13th floor. Can see Capitol and Washington Monument. Bed was very comfortable. The only complaint I had was there was no shampoo and conditioner. A suite like this should have nice amenities for female travelers.
- CCEBER (2/5): Not good for families. Not clean. Minimal. - We found the place by address fine. Lobby desk gave us our key and binder, he was not friendly and didn't make eye contact. We had emailed to switch rooms, and he knew nothing about it. We reserved #905 loft, king bed and pull out couch. Upon waking in, the place is dark. Dark floor and furniture make it feel dirty. Upon closer inspection, it is dirty. Deer head on wall has streams of dust. We were fine though and location is great. Then we learned that the sink doesn't drain and soap was stuck in the dishwasher and dishes were all dirty. Literally food crusted on dishes in the cabinet. I had to hand wash dishes to use, but with the sink not draining, not fun. Not ideal when you're cooking for four. Kitchen had decent provisions but only one dish towel. The bathroom in the loft is upstairs, so our kids being young had to sleep in the king bed not leaving many options for adults. The bathroom sink also didn't drain and the shower head was a game of where can I stand to rinse off. One hand towel in bath as well. My husband had enough and emailed the contact on the binder. She was nice enough to move us to room #829. They only had one person on staff though, so we had to move our own stuff. This room was cleaner but now we had a queen bed. We pulled out sofabed and found blood and urine stains on mattress. I slept 4 hours in a chair, I was so grossed out, fearing of bed bugs. If you don't cook or need the pull out, you might not notice how dirty the place is. Buyer beware!
- Heen (6/5): Comfortable apartment near Capitol - Apartment is in a nice and safe area of D.C. We biked with our kids from here to all the sightseeing attractions in D.C. Security was great in the building. No room service at all, and even had to take out own trash. Nice washer and dryer in the unit. Full kitchen was great. Super Wal-mart short walking distance away. Good sq footage for the $. Would be nice to have 2nd TV in BR. Comfortable bed. Would stay here again, but no bells and whistles. Only one key and FOB given despite request for second set, which was an inconvenience as FOB needed to use elevators and access all amenities.
- Kristina (10/5): Great Stay June 2017 - My son (age 12) and I stayed here for 4 nights, June 2017. We were greeted by the front lobby staff right away, they are there 24/7 in this secured building. Suite Home America is not listed on the front of the building, just address. Front doors are actually on H Street, which can be confusing. When we had Uber drivers pick us up we walked to the front of Wise Guy Pizza to make it easier. You are handed a key and notebook with all information you need. Read the notebook; it explains everything. The flat itself was clean and had everything we needed, laundry soap, dish soap, garbage bags, hair dryer, shampoo (no conditioner), bath soap, kitchen/cooking supplies/utensils. There are 4 large towels, hand towels and wash clothes. Extra blankets and pillows in closet. Stackable laundry in the bathroom was so appreciated by this leg of our trip. Two of the burners on the stove did not work; I let the front desk know, but they seemed to already know that. Hope it is fixed soon. Dishwasher worked great. Fridge was very clean, rooms were very clean. CVS pharmacy is kitty-corner from the building. CVS has a travel supply section and food section. Safeway & Walmart Superstore are walking distance. Whole foods is a mile away. Bed was comfortable & pillows seemed newer. I highly recommend Suite Home America for a stay in DC. It was almost like living at home. Had everything we need.
- Carol (4/5): Never again. - The front desk was not the least bit helpful. We asked if they could hold our bags at check in as we could not get into the room early. Sent us to another hotel to hold our bags, which the other hotel would not do. This should be mentioned at booking. You are on your own and we will not assist you with basically anything.
- Patricia (6/5): Not recommended - Tired apartment, not the one we booked. No explanation of how things worked. Could not get tv in lounge to work. Washer dryer u/s.
- Sigrid (10/5): spacious condo near Chinatown -one mile to museums - We loved the space. Felt right at home. One bedroom with walk in closet, washer/dryer, kitchen, living room with pull out couch and balcony. Great for couple with one or two kids. Maybe not young kids. We were on 10th floor with balcony. We enjoyed the privacy of having our own bedroom. Rooftop pool/hot tub and rooftop BBQ area with tables, couches and fire pits with great view of the Capital and Washington Monument. 24 hr fitness center. On site parking for a fee. One block from Chinatown. One mile walk to Smithsonian, 3 block walk to Union station (train station) where you can also catch DC bus tours. Several blocks from restaurant row and Verizon center. Around the corner is a pizza place and bar/restaurant. Had a really enjoyable stay.
- business travel (6/5): Nice place, not for business travelers - Staff unhelpful. No receipt available at checkout. The front desk staff aren't actually employees of Suite Home America. So they will tell you very politely that they can't answer any questions and you should call the phone number you were given.
- Ji Hoon (2/5): - Too bad hotel I have ever stayed.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great alternative to a traditional hotel stay - If you want a location more like an apartment than a hotel, this is the place. Full kitchen, all the amenities of home, a parking garage (at extra cost) under the building with direct elevator access. Staying here is as close to being at home as you can get.
- Natasha (6/5): no queen bed - it said it could sleep up to 4. 3 was pushing it.
- Brenda (8/5): Good looking cation, otherwise "meh" - The apartment is conveniently by located; good walking distance to the convention center and national mall. It's somewhstbsparsely decorated and not well-equipped for cooking. Front desk help couldn't find keys, didn't tell me about the sensor thing to open doors and elevators and didn't know where the apartment was within the building.
- Lisa (8/5): My home while in Houston - Great stay! I stay here regularly when working in Houston. The only complaint is people outside in front... sometimes that are part of the guests and their friends, and sometimes just seems to be locals walking through the parking lot.... other than that... very nice stay!!
- F (10/5): Loft Living in Downtown DC - Loved our Beautiful, Eclectic loft..comfortable bed, everything you need was provided, great location, rooftop terrace amazing, owners ready to answer any question, great concierge, parking underneath..would recommend and return!!!! Thank you!!
- Justin (10/5): - There a short time but it was a nice suite. Well kept
- karen (2/5): This listing is a scam - This property is involved in a bait and switch scheme. It says very clearly in my booking there is a balcony. There is no balcony. There is no standard bed, it is a single mattress on the floor in a frame. The pillows are more like cheap chair pads than actual pillows. The Walmart (I have seen this set at Walmart) dining chairs are heavily soiled. Small old television with a remote that does not work and the channel buttons on the side don't even work. Cheap furniture with laminate peeling off. Added fee of $13+ a night embedded in reservation and then after you book and get a total there is an addition of $50 for cleaning that I was unaware of. There are cheaper mainstream hotels less than a mile away so it's not as though this is such a great deal and you will get an actual bed off the ground and decent pillows and a balcony if that is what you are paying for and for the same price or less. I feel ripped off. The location is great, stay at an actual hotel in this area is my advice. I want a refund for all of the lies and the backache from sleeping on a nonbed with nonpillows. I rarely write reviews even when it's bad but this is straight up fraud.
- Geoff (4/5): Very disappointing. - Difficulty checking in.
Front door to unit poor security.
Pillows were bricks.
Bathroom floor extremely slippery.
Old towels.
Dirty and old shower curtain.
Internet inconsistent and poor quality.
- Robert (10/5): Great place to stay! - This is a loft apartment in a nice residential building in downtown DC. It's in Penn Quarters and is closed to many attractions downtown. The space is perfect. If you don't mind having maid services everyday, you'll love this place!
- Lyn (6/5): - WiFi very slow. Front staff not very knowledgeable. I had a parcel delivered and 3 people couldn't find it. Finally the 4th one did.
- Manny (6/5): Location was good , that's it - Apartment was in a good location. walking distance to 3 metro station and the Verizon center, China Town, Apartment was small for 4 Adults, NOT a good place for a good night sleep. we prefer to sleep on the floor then on the beds, and the linens were worn out , very thin should have been replaced over a year ago.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Decent apartment - Decent apartment. Nice neighborhood. Good roof top pool
- Jeri (8/5): Short Trip - The hotel/apartment was in great condition, clean. However, there was no concierge when I got to the hotel at 9:45pm. The sign said they would be right back. After about 15 minutes I called the contact number and they came with a key. However, I had to wait until the next morning to get the book with instructions. Not very convenient. . After a 5 hour flight no one wants to wait and see if the concierge will return. They never came during my wait. The street was under construction and tricky to get to. Also, as a single woman did not like the idea of having to walk at night to find water, if you don't want the pizza downstairs. For families, an apartment may be great because of the low rate, but for a single traveler, conveniences are much more important. Singles do not want to go out late at night and buy essentials, like water, food, when arriving late at night
- Joshua (10/5): Great Place!! Highly Recommend! - The primary reason was business but the entire area was very nice, Close to all national landmarks and buildings and plenty to do in the immediate area. Plenty of choices to go eat at as well as if you just want to go for a walk. The building is in excellent condition and very secure and offered plenty of amenities. I would highly recommend this to anyone I will say and will stay there again for sure!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Details Matter - I did not pay close attention to details and thought it a regular hotel when I made reservations. This is not a chain with a manager you can call if you need something. In this case, it turned out to be an apartment that was supposed to be fully furnished. For the most part it was, but: no spoons, no spatula, one mug, one glass, something that sounded like glass in the disposal, horrible lighting from Dollar General-sized lamps (I came to do research at the archives and there was no overhead lighting in my unit so I could read when I came back); the tv remote did not match the television and the batteries were almost dead and, even with new batteries there was no way to switch back and forth between channels; the bedroom hot but the rest cool; the office printers out of ink; no way could the Cajun Loft sleep 4--the sofa fold out small and uncomfortable; worst--vertical blinds let light from the street in and it was like daytime all through the night! I was up at 4 am for an early flight and could see everything without turning on an inside light.
- martin (10/5): Fantastic location, clean and great amenities. - I really enjoyed my stay at the Suite Home America apartments the location was perfect for local attractions and nightlife and the apartment itself was very clean and had a washing machine/dryer and dishwasher and not to mention a rooftop pool and Jacuzzi so it was excellent value for money and I would definitely return if I was back in DC.
- Thomas (6/5): Not a hotel - it's an apartment. - When this suite was booked, i was under the impression it was a hotel chain (Suite Home America - DC) but it was a private building that rents out empty apartments. Therefore the hotel service was not what we were used to by not being focused on our comfort and quality of stay, they were basically property managers. They boasted a 24/7 concierge service that I called on the first day (around 10pm) but got a machine asking me to leave a message. I left a message about the bedroom TV not working but didn't receive any response during my entire trip. Overall the customer service was poor.
The room was very nice and the roof-top pool was pretty sweet, but the parking was in a garage below the building and charged about $24 a day.
The area it is located in was under HEAVY construction so just driving 2 blocks seemed to take 10 minutes.
Overall, we felt rather disconnected, confused and unimportant during our stay at Suite Home America - DC - but the room was nice. I am used to a higher level of customer service and satisfaction when paying to stay places, but lesson learned - always check if the room is part of a hotel for visitors or just renting out empty rooms.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Bettsofa nicht sehr bequem und nicht für zwei Personen geeignet
- michelle (10/5): Great location - Great place to stay. Close to all the sights, everyone is friendly, space was very comfortable.
- Janet (8/5): Apartment vs. Traditional Hotel - This apartment-style hotel is great for tourists visiting DC with children. We elected to stay in an apartment rather than a traditional hotel so that we could 1)save money by cooking some of our own meals and 2)do laundry halfway through our trip to save room in the suitcase. It was great for both of those reasons, and good to have the extra room. The fact that the price was comparable to a traditional hotel was an added bonus. The kids loved the outdoor heated pool and the view from the rooftop deck was amazing--we could see the Capitol and the Washington Monument. The location was great--within walking distance of the east side of the National Mall. There is a grocery store, pharmacy and plenty of restaurants nearby. We also liked that the building was secure, requiring a fob to access the front door at night and to use the elevators. The only complaint I have about the particular apartment we stayed in was the lack of basic items needed in the kitchen, e.g. there was no spatula for turning pancakes, no plastic containers for leftovers, no foil, plastic wrap, baggies, measuring cups or spoons, etc. It also would have been nice to have a broom to sweep up crumbs in the kitchen throughout our stay. We also ran out of toilet paper on the last day, so it would have been nice to have more than one extra roll stocked up. Overall it was a great experience.
- Verified traveler (8/5): DC Apartment - Stayed for 3 days no daily room service no hair dryer apartment was roomy had a kitchen and small outdoor patio and location near the Capital
- ANTONIO JOSE (10/5): Excelente - Excelente estadía. Lo recomiendo
- Jane (6/5): mixed - Had trouble checking in as the confirmation email did not include the unit number. Concierge had to call for me. Annoying to find that out at 9PM when I just wanted to check in and get settled. Then - No soap for the shower - ARGH. And no tissues. Very expensive overnight parking ($30) in the garage but plenty of on-street spaces if you're willing to pay or move the car 7AM.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Sleepless in D.C. with no help available - This flat was misrepresented as part of a hotel. The on-site staff were adamant about not being involved in my room. I was told to call an-off site number, but the flat's furniture did not include a telephone. I had a cell, but not everyone does. No TV in the bedroom. The major problem was the HORRIBLE BED. I GOT NO SLEEP AT ALL AND HAD TO CONDUCT MY BUSINESS IN D.C. FEELING AS IF I WAS UNDER WATER. OF COURSE, SINCE THIS WAS NOT A HOTEL, I COULD NOT ASK FOR A CHANGE OF ROOM. BEWARE!
- Traveler (6/5): great location - Cheaply furnished; I had to buy kitchen supplies as there were not enough for 3 of us; beds were terrible. I purchased foam toppers that did not help much; pull-out couch and futon were hard as a rock; all furniture was old. TVs were so old they did had lines running through the screen. It was so bad we didn't use them. Color appeared as black and white. Basics were provided but if you stay here take along your own supplies.
- mariaelisa (10/5): Wonderful place to stay - Very comfortable apartment. Lots of room. Very cobvebient to the mall area, metros, and restaurants.
Great price too!
