Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (4/5): - No me gustó la ubicación
- Verified traveler (6/5): A disgusto.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I like the place. It has all I need for a stay in playa de Carmen. A microwave, bed, aircon and a nice bathroom. It's 6 blocks from the beach and near the pedestrian street where the restaurants and stores are
- Nic (4/5): - It was just a place to crash. Nothing special. A smell was in the air
- Zach (10/5): - The staff were very friendly and the place was very clean. There are 3 pools on the property, one on the bottom, one on the roof, and one on the 4th floor.
Upon arrival we met with the reception who didnt have very good english. This is expected as it is Mexico, so we ended up using Google Translate and getting our room just fine.
The cleaning staff were amazing. Offering to clean our room every day, doing the dishes and neatly organizing our stuff, but not in the way where it was too invasive.
The only gripe I had was that the breakfast at the hotel isnt very good. It includes coffee, a pastry, and some toast. However, it was very cheap at the price of $35MXN (~$2 USD)
This place is a very affordable option for PDC and I definitely recommend staying here.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff provided good customer service the room was spacious and clean with everything we needed for our stay
- Aaron (10/5): Bueno - Excelentes instalaciones
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Access to three rooftop swimming pools, excellent maid service, breakfast included
- Karim (10/5): Nice place ,clean - The service was very good , the place is cozy
- Verified traveler (6/5): Cheap basic clean accom - This condohotel is part of a group of buildings including Coral Blue, La Playa, Las Perlas. Most are entered through the main reception area and then you wind your way through the building. Las Perlas building sits on the road behind but reception is the the Coral Blue building.
For the price paid the hotel was good. The rooms were basic and had the main facilities although only air con in the bedroom and not in the krichen area.
Receptionist was friendly and helpful.
- richard formage (4/5): A lot to be desired - Bathroom nasty smelling , shower sprayed more on wall than on you , windows stuck open with no screen so bugs come in ! Good luck cooking anything because hotplate couldn’t melt butter ! No coffee maker in room either ( was supposed to have one ) ! Pools nasty over chemicaled because they too cheap to run filter pumps yet pools always dirty , u can feel your skin burning while in water ! Be careful around railings many sharp edges , also poorly installed ! Bathroom for upper pool no toilet seat is such a nice feature too ! This place used to be ok for the $ but they seem to be jacking prices up , might aswell stay at nice place for same kinda $
Bien ubicado.
- jc (6/5): Buena ubicacion y limpio - Esta sobre carr. Principal y buena atencion y limpieza habitacion amplia
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice condo, excelent customer service - Clean new condo ,nice pools ,excelent customer service and location for people that like stay in a quiet place but still close to 5 Av.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very clean! - This condo has a great location, clean, and their staff is very helpful and kind.
When I booked this condo I was afraid that the place was going to be falling apart because of the price but thank God!! This place turned out to be a really good place to stay. I definitely recommend this condo.
- brian (4/5): - always alot of construction noise, backhoes, jack hammers, hammer and chiseling. swimming pools are cold and not cleaned daily, filter systems not running at all , they use too much chemicals in pool instead of using the filter system.I like doing my own cooking but the kitchenette, hot plate/burner in the room doesnt really get hot enough to cook on, its only a 1000 watt burner, hope you like bacon or a steak cooked in a microwave, I know I dont. No sharp knifes for cutting with, no toaster for breakfast. Couldnt see anything out the balcony, was too close to the building next door
- Verified traveler (8/5): good staff. nice room. - good value. nice pool on roof. clean rooms. staff is helpful and pleasant. close to everything. but not noisy like the other end of 5th ave is till early morning.....
- Mario (10/5): It was very clean & quiet close away from crowds - Just what I was looking for, great place
- Eduardo (8/5): Volvería a hospedarme ahí - Buena relación precio/calidad
- Esmeralda (2/5): DONT GO..!! - We didn't stay it was trouble..!! I lost my money and didn't get a refund
- martin (10/5): Awsome - Nice confortable great prive n location
- Samantha (6/5): Alright Stay - The room was ok, nice size. A kitchen, separate bathroom, and a desperate bedroom. There was only air conditioning in the bed room. The bed was hard as rocks. Any the walls are very thin. Besides that it was an alright stay for the price that I paid. It was hot and humid, walking distance to the beach and restaurants. Right on 5th avenue.
- family (4/5): It's not close to the beach, mosquitos everywhere - Dirty pools beaches far away , front desk horrible specially night shift, they don't keep the Ac on. I do not recomended
- ibe (2/5): don't stay - Air broken no elevator terrible no refund hotel looks nothing like photo and to arrive is confusing don't stay here!
- jose (2/5): Don't stayyyyy - Air broken no elevator terrible no refund hotel looks nothing like photo and to arrive is confusing don't stay here!
- Roy (8/5): Very Nice for the Money - Remember for the money this was very good. Close to avenida quinta meals close by and $6 usd cab to the ferry. I would have liked a few blankets but we used the towels instead. The staff was very nice and congenial. We will come back again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good location, needs improvement - The hotel is clean, friendly staff, good pools, but it was lacking in bedroom furniture and bathroom accomodations
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great location close to 5 Ave and. beach
- Great place to stay , lots of great places to eat and shop
Close to beach
Very clean and big condos
- Karina (8/5): Clean hotel room with an extra. - We stayed for 8 nights. we had a nice time in Playa del Carmen, we used the room to sleep and shower pretty much but we also had break fast some days. The Full size fridge helped us a lot to keep beverages cool and some chesse eggs fruits. Is a 10 steps of 5th Ave. The room is clean and you get extra towels to take to the beach if you ask. All Playa del Carmen is under construction so you are going to hear noise almost wherever you stay. We did not mind.
- David T (6/5): OK for short a short stay - Room is comfortable and location is not bad. However the winhmg where I stayed was still under construction, which was no very inviting. A great Plus is the parking garage. Otherwise I would think twice before I stay there a next time.
- Cinderella (6/5): Won't repeat .... - This was our 2nd time to this place, we stayed 2 years ago and requested the same room. We realized how frustrating the kitchenette situation was with only 1 hot plate, the fridge door on the wrong side making it very difficult to navigate in the space provided, between the table, fridge, sink, etc. The biggest disappointment was all of the construction. We were on the floor just below the roof top pool which we were looking forward to using again, as I had inquired if it was still there. There was dust, debris everywhere, we could not open our door to get a breeze coming through or open the window and our balcony was squeezed with the incorrect size furniture they provided. They also were renting the additional space on the rooftop by the pool (which was used in the past as a common area) as another apartment, making it very uncomfortable to be up on the roof top to use the pool and facilities. They have the new pool on the ground floor, which was nice, but we remembered the beautiful space on the rooftop, so were disappointed. The wifi was very inconsistent making it difficult to work/communicate ... we asked right at the beginning for the cleaning staff to only come every 3rd day as we like our privacy. After the 1st time, they came every day regardless of our request, so we just gave up. The bright light was the staff however. They always did their best to try to rectify a situation and were very helpful. I think you get what you pay for.
- Amanda (10/5): Very nice - I had a great stay at La Playa Condo hotel. We were there for 10 nights and I have no complaints other than the bed was pretty stiff, though still sleepable. Also the wifi was pretty inconsistent but for the most part worked good in the room. The staff were all friendly and flexible with check in when we were 2 hours late. The room was always cleaned well and thoroughly. All appliances were in working order and clean as well. Additionally, having 3 pools to choose from was also nice. Plus walking distance to the beach as well as 5th avenue. I saw the complaints about construction and was worried, but we never once were woken up by it. Not to say that there wasn't construction on the hotel- there was, but I think it depends on where your room was. Two other couples that we travelled with also had no issues with it. If I return to Playa del Carmen, this is where I will be staying.
- tom (2/5): Do not stay here. - You can hear everything in the hotel in your room. No blankets, just a sheet.
Walls are bare with no décor. Pool is in the shade most of the day.
Very over priced for what you get.
Please do not stay here.
- Greg (8/5): Great for the price. - It is located on the far end of 5th Ave. Very quite and very close to a couple of nice beach clubs and public beach access. I'm going back.
- Grh (2/5): - Ants everywhere. All the noises from constructions. Holes on the wall. Took 1 day to replace a new AC, meaning we had to stay there without AC for half days with some many guys in and out of from our room.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Bad Hotel -- Too Much Construction - I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. Every day starting at around 7:30am I would be woken by LOUD, I mean LOUD, construction noises. Honestly, with that amount of noise level and that early, my stay was not enjoyable at all. I am vacation, I do not want to be woken up every day at 7:30am. Also, we found a dead ant on our bed. Not on top of the bed, but in the sheets. Gross! Plus, I left a shirt to dry on a chair on the balcony and forgot to take it with me at check out. I returned not even an hour later to ask if I could go get it, and the girl at the front counter acted very suspicious and told me I couldn't go back to the room but that she would go ask the cleaning ladies. When she returned, she claimed that the cleaning ladies hadn't seen a shirt in the balcony....right. Also, if you want to check out even a few minutes later, they will want to charge you 200 MXN pesos. I don't recommend this hotel at all! It may be cheap, but it's not worth it.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Construction zone - The penthouse would be a very nice appartment. Unfortunately the hotel is an entire construction zone.. there is work going on from 8 a.m.. to 8 p.m. If you book a penthouse with terrasse you won't be able to use it as they are adding an additional level.
If you go there make sure you get a discount at least...
- Verified traveler (10/5): Two weeks in Playa del Carmen - Staff at front desk were helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. They convinced me that the hotel was located far enough from central to be quiet but close to new restaurants and a part of town that is quickly growing. Less populated beaches are accessible within a short walk.
- Vito (10/5): Nice hotel on 5th Ave. - Walking distance to Cozumel ferry, all restaurants, and shopping.
- Md Abu Baker (10/5): Nice hotel - It was very nice hotel with 2 pool. 5 mind walk to the beach & in quote area but still on the 5th Avenue 10-15 mins walk to all tourist area. Also they let us check in early. Very clean & with balcony.
- lu (2/5): cancellation. - Just a few hours before I left on vacations they send me a email telling me that they did not have a room for me to stay,
- joey (10/5): as expected - hotel is clean, staff are frienly, quiet location, tho only 2 blocks away from the main tourist district, good time to walk. safe and secure district.
- Sherrie (8/5): Basic but clean condo - If your looking for a luxury hotel where you are waited on hand and foot this is NOT your place. It's in a great location, about 5 blocks to the touristy part of 5th Ave. and only 3 blocks to the beach. Numerous Restaurants are close by. The condo was clean with a small bedroom (with at my balcony), bathroom and small kitchen with microwave, fridge and little single cup coffee maker. It had 2 pools (one is more like a cold hot tub on the roof) and the staff were very helpful. It was all we needed :-)
- Verified traveler (6/5): Thet forget the basics - They forgot to put on the Room soap, shampoo, toilet paper, etc
Anda the Room doesnt has phone to call the reception
ugly neighborhood
- Mathieu (8/5): Exactly what we wanted - A small appartement with minimalist kitchen and a nice pool to unwind. Much recommended! Unfortunately, there was heavy construction just next door, so it got pretty noisy it the morning. That may explain why there were discounts. Evenings were perfect though.
- luis (8/5): Great new condo!! - We had a great time. The front desk ladies very helpful. Even thought the hotel is at 50 and 5a avenida is a little far(5minutes walking) from where everything is happening, but is a great deal for the price and is a new condo. I will go back to this hotel!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good Value - We stayed here for several days. More pros then cons. Everything in the room worked. We were happy with the location of our room. Nice shower and fairly comfortable bed with very minimal linen. Nice patio with a little bit of an ocean view ( a bonus).
- Louis (8/5): Better than expected - Spent 9 nights with the wife and two kids. We were given a penthouse which had an outstanding view.
The facilities were fairly good and we had plenty of space including a rooftop area all to ourselves.
The hotel cleaning staff was at times unaware of minor details that a normal hotel would pick up on such as regular cleaning after a rain storm.
The location was a bit removed from everything but nothing a 15 minute walk wouldn't solve.
I would highly recommend this hotel
- Ania (8/5): Great space, location and service - Great location - close to beach and 5th ave. Awesome big space in our room - penthouse suite - access to rooftop too. Rented with a few friends and had a great stay for a great price. Service was good - very friendly. Wish there were some more pots and pans for cooking in the kitchen, but that's okay.
- Louis (8/5): Great stay...simple...but great! - If you are expecting a 5 star resort with all the bells & whistles...then this place is not for you. I you want a clean simple stay with a very friendly staff, then this place is for you. I would book here again....
- Verified traveler (8/5): Would be great were it not for the noise at night - A fabulous apart hotel, albeit located out of the main area, which we was the reason we chose it, and only some 30pesos in a cab to the centre but easy walking to the beach. However, we were kept awake by noise from a neighbouring building where a party was in full swing - it wasn't NYE or any special date. As if that weren't enough we were then rudely awoken by a generator / the sound of building works.
If they can sort the noise issues out this would be a great place but certainly not one to chose at the moment if you are looking for a good night's sleep
- Ana Karen (10/5): Good - The price is good and very clean. Staff nice. Is near almost everything. Excellent choice
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good for the price - Ok hotel but great price. Situated a little far from dowtown attractions and groceries etc... but is walkable (about 20 min).
- Jackie (10/5): Okay location, great walk on 5th Ave - This hotel is on 5th Avenue, its a 10 min walk towards Bars and Clubs, there is a mcdonalds if you want at the end of the strip near 2nd street. The hotel is clean, there are ants but there's not many places in Mexico that you wont see them, stay away from keeping food out. They have a kitchenette and a nice fridge so left overs are easy. The microwave works well and theres cups and dishes for you.
The staff is super friendly and the pool looks nice and warm.
- the burn (2/5): Hotel closed and under construction - Arrived at hotel to find that it was completely closed and under construction so had to walk two miles lugging our bags to find another hotel.
we were still charged for all three nights and now waiting for Expedia to make this right
- Verified traveler (10/5): Had everything we needed! - Hotel was clean, close to the beach, and had everything we needed. The only complain would be that the Internet was not working in our room.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Be Sure to Check Your Windows! - Thank God we are only spending one night here. The window of our room opens to the hallway. By the time we went to bed, we found out the window was broken, and cannot be close entirely. We had to prop a sofa up against the window to secure it to our best ability. We went to bed worried all night. But the location was great, and is within walking distant to Qinta Avenida.
- Jeffrey (6/5): Hassle to check in but overall nice hotel - They did not have my hotels.com reservation when I arrived. Check-in took an hour as well as a 45 min international phone call to Hotels.com. The hotel wanted me to just book with them to avoid the hassle. I preferred using hotels.com so the phone call was worth the wait. Air conditioner didn't cool the room. Car ride away from shops and beach so
- Yan (10/5): good place - Very nice
- Verified traveler (10/5): very nice condo-hotel - Well located, quiet , beautiful condos and very clean
- Wanda (8/5): La playa in March - The girls at reception were very sweet and friendly. The room was cleaned a lot more often than we expected, at least 3times. The kitchen had a great fridge, but only a burner for a stove. Bathroom had lots of hot water. The deck only had one chair and a terrible view next door. It was a long walk down fifth to most of the places we wanted to go to, but we knew this when we booked it. We didn't use the upper pool, as it was 5 floors up and in a different building, no elevator. We got an excellent price.
- Archan (8/5): A small apartment at great value. - This is more like a little apartment than a hotel, and we felt it was excellent value. It would suit more independent travelers who don't want the all-inclusive resort. It worked really well for our 6-day stay because we could prepare several of our meals on site, especially handy for breakfasts. The hotel is located on Calle 50, just at the northern edge of the busy tourist area, so it was quieter, but still within an easy walk to the main shopping area on 5th Ave. or the sea. All the staff were, without exception, friendly, courteous and helpful. Any requests we made were responded to within minutes. The room and whole complex were clean and safe, and the bed was comfortable
Some things to be aware of, none of which was really a problem for us, but might be for others:
1. There is no elevator.
2. There is no room phone.
3. The Wi-Fi signal was intermittent, and worked best out on the balcony.
4. There are time limits on the use of electricity. I think the A/C was 6 hrs, and the fan was 8 hrs. You can still use it, but may be charged extra. It made us mindful of our electricity usage, which is not a bad thing, so we had no extra charges. There was a beautiful Caribbean breeze that blew through the place anyway.
5. You have to walk a couple of blocks to 10th Ave. to get a taxi, even when departing with bags.
We would definitely stay here again. Thanks to Maria and her twin sister who manage the place for making our stay so pleasurable.
- Verified traveler (6/5): nice spot but nothing like the picture on the web - we were in the older older condo and it was ok but i was expecting a bit more because i saw the pics on there web site and it was more apealing than it really was.
- Hessam (6/5): Good Value for travelers that aren't too fussy - Friends had wedding at Paradisus La Perla but an all inclusive isn't our style. For a budget minded traveler that can handle no frills travel this is a great spot. It was a about 3/4 of a mile to the wedding hotel and one mile from all the shops and bars that really make playa del carmen unique. We rented a car and they had garage parking under the condos which was important considering the surrounding neighborhood isn't where you would want to park a rental vehicle. But as far as walking from the hotel into town we felt totally safe using the well lit 5th ave walking path. The studio which has a full fridge, microwave and small dining area is great to store snacks and simple food, really spacious for the price. Bathroom was good size wifi worked well so we could use whatsapp and internet from the hotel room. A/C worked fantastic with a nice remote to control it however you wanted. Things to know, bathroom and shower is great but hot water runs out quick, maybe 5-8 min tops if it is even there so if you can't handle that be warned. Also beds only come with sheets and are double size in the studio so if you are finicky about that type of thing as well try somewhere else. If you are looking for a place to lay your head, shower and have access to internet and you will be spending most your day out and about this is a great value. But again only if you are an experienced traveler that doesn't let the trivial things get in your way of having a good time.
- Natalie (8/5): Nice hotel - safe and quiet - We (my friend and I) spent 7 nights in this hotel. Our room was on the third floor with small balcony. Instead of additional sofa bed according to our booking we found just a love seat. Coffee maker was broken, as well as air conditioner. But Maria and her staff were very friendly and accommodating, they brought sofa bed, extra linen, next day they replace coffee maker and also brought a water container and a mixer. Air conditioner was fixed very fast. Everything we asked was done right away. They cleaned the place every other day. Hotel has a nice pool on the roof on the forth floor. The weather was very good, not too hot. The sea was just perfect, very enjoyable. We loved mexican food, everything we tried was tasty. We also liked very much 100% natural restaurant - excellent food and juices. People everywhere were very friendly. I learned a little Spanish, especially numbers after 30 (for taxi!), it helped a lot!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Brend new condo but poor quality - The matress was cheap and inconfortable. We heard every flush of every toilet in The building. It is a little bite far from The main but not so bad. For sure, we never go back again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): if you want to relax, go somewhere else - absolutely noisy, you don't get sleep! nice owner and nice room as such but kitchen underequipped. no chair on balcony. sofa-bed with dirty spots. no towels on 2. day. away from tourist zone
