Guest Reviews
- Joshua (1/5): The worst and nastiest place I’ve ever stayed - Nothing mold on the bathroom and a sewage smell in the room the whole time Mold on the bathroom and sewage smell in the room. No real towels to dry off you get a small paper thin towel
- Simon (6/5): My stay at the Hotel was easy and manageable. Pocket friendly. - Accessible to nearby metro and bus terminus, walking distance to Myeondong Night market and Namdaemun Traditional market.
Mr Kim the caretaker was very kind and always checking if I'm ok and comfortable. Can improve on the building appearance from outside, it needs painting.
- Elias (1/5): Worst experience of my life - Nothing. This was the worst experience of my life. Everything. It was really disgusting how it is a scam thar is allowed to run and bookings didn't help or take responsability. There was literally piss in the toilet when we got our "compensatory upgrade" (that was not even close to a compensation)
- JIWON (10/5): -
- PETER (10/5): excellent - Good service and friendly team

- Martina (1/5): Le camere non sono assolutamente conformi all descrizione. - La peggior esperienza che ho mai avuto. Tutto.
- Cherry (5/5): -
- Mitsuki (5/5): -
- Malcolm (6/5): - Convenient for the area and central city. Close to restaurants and coffee shops Very hard bed
- amanina (10/5): - Had a great stay at this hotel. Mr Kim is very helpful, he even make sure to helps me with the luggage until the station since I'm a solo traveller. The best thing of the hotel is also the fact that we can order thing online cause the hotel can help receive the parcel. Totally recommended especially if you're solo traveller and looking for affordable and comfortable place.
- daniel (10/5): Muy bueno! - Ubicacion y personal muy amable!!muy prolijo y aseado!
- Faruk (5/5): Good but some negativities - This hotel is actually a hostel. Their breakfast is just two pieces of toast bread. There is no elevator and no window looking outside, only to inner coridors.
But the location and the hospitality of the stuff is perfect.

- Oyunchimeg (1/5): -
- Julien (10/5): -
- Eunkyung (9/5): The staff, Mr. Kim, was very helpful. - The location was perfect.
- Veliz Tapia (1/5): Uncomfortableness - The only good thing is the location. The photos they show are not real. The guy who takes care of everything in the place is an impertinent. He has no manners and does not know how to converse, he only argues about everything. Annoying to explain the same thing 5 times a day knocking on your door. The breakfast is fake, there is no breakfast they leave only a bag of bread with hot water, that’s all they offer. The rooms are very cold and the duces do not always have hot water.
- Stoltz (1/5): highly dissapointed - did not get breakfast -the kitchen was dirty Facility old - not well taken care of
- Aquino (1/5): -
- Alessandro (10/5): - the location was perfect and Mr. Kim the manager was really nice to me it is what you pay for, maybe not a 5 stars hotel but if you’re in a budget is really nice, has kinda everything you need and you’ve got your own room and peace
- Anderson (2/5): It’s as basic and budget as it comes, I made the most of it but wouldn’t rush back! - Location good, close to street food, subway and eateries etc. WiFi, water pressure, air con all worked well. Stay had no issues, building was quiet. Room shabby and in desperate need of decoration. Room had a window but covered in bubble wrap as a privacy screen. Blind pretty much useless as so much light gets let in. Bring your own towel- you are given towels but they are threadbare and the size of hand towels! It’s very much a hostel style property despite now claiming to be a hotel.
Update: As seems to be a common occurrence with this place, after checking out I was then charged £30 for allegedly leaving behind a dirty comforter. Absolute nonsense and seems to be a way they like to scam people out of some extra cash after leaving the country. Beware.
- CSABA KAROLY (6/5): - Lage.
- Pae (1/5): -
- Begai (7/5): - The location is really nice and the host was very polite!

- Vargas (7/5): -
- Skylar (4/5): Definitely a budget hotel with a nice location. - The location was great and it was very affordable. AC was nice and strong! The lobby in the pictures doesn’t exist. It’s a small hotel with public access. The beds are extremely uncomfortable. There’s no shower, but only a hand held shower head in the bathroom you can use to shower in the same room with the toilet and sink.
- Paradise44088553506 (2/5): ASK FOR YOUR COUNTRY’S EMBASSY POLICEMEN THERE ARE GETTING PAID BY MR. KIM - If I could give 0 star I would. Kim the person in charge a.k.a owner too didn’t acknowledge our booking and made us pay for another payment even offered a discount without us asking (like he does this all the time) he didn’t issued us an Official Receipt which was super red flag but we had no choice its late and its cold (which he took advantage and he knows it well)
- chloé (7/5): -
- George Kazakov (9/5): -

Pessimo.

We booked this hotel for a week in 2024 and informed them twice that we would arrive late at dawn. When we arrived, we waited over 20 minutes before anyone came. They claimed our booking was “forfeited” and lied about not receiving our messages, even though we texted and called multiple times.
They then pressured us to “rebook” and offered a “discounted” cash rate without issuing an official receipt until checkout. Our room for 3 was too small, and they told one of us to sleep on the floor.
Later, they tried to open our door (likely to plant fake damages), and we caught them. We also met another guest with the same “late arrival” story. When the police arrived, the staff changed the story while talking to them in their own language, leaving us helpless because we couldn’t understand or respond. Mr. Kim even scared the newly arrived guests by telling them they could be jailed — we still don’t know exactly what he said to the police. He also threatened to have me jailed if I didn’t delete my video, forcing me to delete it on the spot while shouting at me multiple times.
When we showed the fake receipt to the police, Mr. Kim got angry, tried to snatch it from my hands, and in front of the laughing officer, ripped it into pieces so there would be no evidence. The male police officer laughed at us repeatedly, clearly siding with the hotel.
Instead of relaxing and enjoying our first time in Korea, this was the stressful welcome we got. Upon checkout, they gave us another fake, folded “receipt” and threw our heavy luggage down the stairs, almost hitting us.

- Jane (10/5): Korea's cheapest hotels/best - Rainbow Hotel Myeongdong operates two separate buildings one with higher-end rooms and the other with budget rooms. The higher-end building is equipped with a standard passenger elevator, while the budget building has only a freight elevator. However, this wasn’t an issue at all, as the stairs were wide and safe, making it easy to move around.
I stayed in one of the budget rooms with a friend, and despite being one of the most affordable options in Korea, the hotel was safe, clean, and incredibly well-located. Situated in the heart of downtown Seoul, it offered excellent access to major tourist attractions. Both the subway station and the airport limousine bus stop were just a 1 minute walk away, which made transportation extremely convenient. There was a convenience store next door and plenty of restaurants nearby, adding to the overall comfort.
During my stay, I had the chance to meet travelers from all over the world, which made for a culturally enriching experience. As a female traveler, I also truly appreciated the thoughtful service staff members kindly offered to carry heavy luggage to the subway station or airport bus stop free of charge for female guests. Their kindness left a lasting impression.
Overall, this hotel offers exceptional value for money, with a great location, cleanliness, safety, and thoughtful service. I highly recommend it to anyone traveling alone or with friends.
- Brown (10/5): Very Good - It was my first time visiting Korea, so I had a lot of worries, but thanks to Rainbow Hotel, I was able to stay comfortably and safely. The staff were very friendly and communicated well in English, which was a huge help.
The room was clean and quiet, allowing me to relax peacefully. The location was also great very convenient for getting to major tourist attractions.
I had seen some negative comments about Rainbow Hotel before my trip, but after staying here myself, I can confidently say those comments were completely untrue. In fact, my experience far exceeded my expectations.
The price was very reasonable, and everything from the location and transportation access to the staff’s kindness and cleanliness was excellent.
Breakfast was included in the room rate and was served from 8 to 9 a.m., making it easy to start the day with a simple meal.
During my stay, the hotel was fully booked every day, which shows how popular it is among travelers.
I would truly recommend Rainbow Hotel to anyone, especially those visiting Korea for the first time! Everyone is satisfied.
- Elizabeth (9/5): Superb -
- Kim (10/5): Amazing, we had a great experience here. The hotel is in a great spot, it’s clean, affordable, and the staff are really - My stay at Rainbow Hotel Myeongdong was amazing! I came on a family vacation from Texas, and everything about this hotel was just right.
The location is perfect (it's right in the middle of Myeongdong) and super close to public transportation, so it was really easy for us to get around and explore Seoul. There are tons of shops and restaurants nearby too, which was super convenient.
The hotel itself was clean, cozy, and comfortable. We didn’t have any problems at all during our stay. They also provide a small breakfast (which was simple but totally fine)
Mr. Kim was especially kind and helpful (he really went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed). His friendly attitude made us feel so welcome and added something special to the trip.
Overall, we had a great experience here. The hotel is in a great spot, it’s affordable, and the staff are really nice. I would totally recommend this place to anyone visiting Korea (especially first-timers). We’d definitely stay here again! And thank you Mr. Kim for making our trip amazing!
- R8975AZ_ (10/5): Great experience - We have stayed at the Rainbow Hotel for thirteen days.
The location of the hotel is very good, with a large number of shops and places of interest nearby.
The hotel itself is very clean, tidy, the trash in the rooms is taken out every day,
it is possible to change the towel even several times a day and change the bed linen if it necessary. On each floor there is a kitchen with cutlery, dishes and appliances (for example: a microwave, a rice cooker a kettle) you can use. The owner is very friendly, responsive, always ready to help, regularly enquiring if everything is alright
You can also use free Wi-Fi, and the rooms have air conditioning
- MUN SUNG (10/5): -
This hotel should be illegal.
Dirty and tiny rooms, reception often closed (we waited 2 hours to check in and no one answered the phone), non-existent breakfast.
One word: RUN AWAY
- JOHNNY (8/5): - My mom stayed there for about 2 weeks and received extra help from the very friendly and helpful front desk staff.

- Ester (2/5): - This hotel is not even a hotel. It is a hostel. First off there is no lobby. There is no check in. I was sleeping and the owner started banging in my door. What type of respect is that. I felt unsafe and do yourself a favor and find something better. I checked out early I couldn’t stand it. Also there’s no elevator and I had to take it up to floor 4. He also went to my room to show me how things work. It’s a simple room I don’t need help. Overall the pictures are VERY deceiving.
- irving (6/5): - Please communicate how to do the breakfast hot water dispenser etc. other than the bedroom photos to show what the place looks like the other photos misrepresent the conditions of the hotel. The price was what we got I guess. Average
- David (10/5): - This hotel is in a great location, just a 2 minute walk away from a metro station, and just a 10-15 minute walk from City Hall. The rooms are spacious, with a toilet and shower cubicle in each. The bed was comfortable and the pillows felt fluffy.
The views from the 5th floor were great, letting you see life in action. Unfortunately there is no elevator so climbing the stairs may be tricky if you're less mobile. There is a luggage lift though, so you don't need to carry your luggage all the way up and down.
I would highly recommend this hotel if you're visiting Seoul
- Grace (2/5): This hotel is terrible and nightmare - I got the horrible and nightmare vacations because of terrible hotel, there is no elevator and room has no windows, I feel like a jail, I stayed 5th floor and I walked up to 5th floor every day, it was nightmare, also my room has no window so all days dark and I didn’t know outside situation, if sunrise or raining or cloudy, I feel like stay in jail, also there are no shower room, only bathroom, if anyone want to go to trip, you better not go this place

- SReny (2/5): Scammer alert! - This place is the worse place I've stayed in my 30 yrs of travellling. Obviously, I didn't read the reviews before booking. 4 floors, no lift, rooms are tiny, shower is shower head connected to the sink. No privacy between beds and toilet (glass). The receptionist wanted to charge us extra money even though we'd booked and payed already for our rooms. Asked for our credicards and wanted to hold on to my passport until we gave him more money. When I talked on the phone to the manager asking why we were asked for more money, he changed his mind and gave me back my passport. No breakfast to be found. We found bread in a fridge and eggs but there was no one around to ask. We guessed, we had to toast bread and boil our own eggs. Lots of rules. He told us not to put our suitcase on our beds. We could eat only 1 egg and 1 toast. The heating was to be on only for 15 min max. All very fishy! I do not recommend anyone to go there.
- Priscilla (6/5): - Mr.Kim was expectional. He was so nice when we arrived and when we left. I expected to see the location as it is in the pictures on expedia ( picture is of another building in the area very deceiving) and thats why I got lost. Location is an actual Hostal it has 2 signs1with hotel & another with hostal. In reality it a Hostal, outside looks rundown. Rooms are as in picture. Some rooms dont have windows. Luckily mine did. The locations has alot of rules not listed by expedia. If I would known ahead of time I would not have stayed here. Room was cold you can only use heater for a certain amount of time. Cant bring food to room. Cant use rest area from 10-12. The only convince is the location. Really near metro and myeongdong shoping area. I was so scared to use towels and blankets as there an extra charge if you stain them. All this is understandable it just really extreme never been to a place with so many rules. No shoes only slippers comes with the culture. Room need a stronger lock as I was afraid to sleep thinking someone could come in . Lock was very simple. Electricity to use with foreigner outlet was turned off during certain hours. Wifi was good. Free breakfast is 2 slices of bread , 1 egg, 1 packet of coffee from 8-9am. There is no room service or restaurant. There a bar next door but not affliated with hostal. Was disappointed on this location expedia, not all that is advertised on your website was true. Please update the picture to the hostal building.
- Marianne (6/5): - Hostel. The common areas were clean the room itself wasn't. Bedding clean toilet clean walls and touchable things not. This room was very overpriced for what it was. Excellent staff & service. Great location.
- betheljoy (2/5): Look elsewhere - Look elsewhere!
This place was horrible. Photos were misleading.
The owner had so many rules , ie no shoes in the room, no eating, etc. Place smells and had so many mosquitos.
The worst place I've ever stayed so do yourself a favour to skip this place. He cancelled our reservation that we paid for and requested for us to pay extra $150A, but because it was nearly midnight we just had to fork it out! He moved us 3x to different rooms. This place should be removed from any travel sites
- Chris (10/5): - Good place to stay near Myrongdong
- Bethel Joy (4/5): Stay away from this place - We got to this so called hotel before midnight and found out that our paid reservation has been cancelled! We were asked to pay an extra $150AU by the owner or whoever that man was at the reception because of no show which was bull coz were in front of him arguing. The room he provided was small and smelly. To top that he moved us around to another room after a few days which was a few level up(this place has no lift) then on our last night he moved us to another place again
The only good thing about this place was its walking distance to Chungmuro station.
I hope hotels.com will remove this listing so no one will book at this place. I tried messaging this place to advice that our flight was delayed but no reply, even hotels.com were unable to contact them.
Theres heaps of better hotels around Chungmuro and Myeongdong but not this one.
This place has lots of rules, you cant enter with your shoes on, cant eat in your room, etc. So do yourself a favour - dont book this place.
Photos from website are misleading. Book at your own risk
- YEE SEONG (10/5): - This is our second time checking in at this hotel within 2 weeks. The manager Mr Kim was very friendly, warm and helpful. The bed and pillow was perfect as it healed my backache and pain. Shops for food are within walking distance from the hotel and have easy access to most amenities. The room is clean. We appreciate what he has done for us and will check in at this hotel if we visited Korea again in the future.
- CHAI TEN (8/5): Experience at Rainbow Hotel. - The room was small and reception was fine. Problem is they spoke little English. But the manager make.up by taking us to a night out free of charge. She was friendly and make up for what was lacking. Overall, it is fine. Food stores are nearby.
He want to call police me causedI refused to his dominate and harass ,also creepy kind - 時間を言って来てるのに受付に人は居ないし連絡つかない。 The day after he refused to sexually harass me, he stopped cleaning up the garbage and used towels, so I protested the harassment and cleaned up after that, but the day before the last day, he came to my room and said that he would check the room with me in the morning. The first thing I heard was that they would just return the key and charge the card later if anything happened. I refused it .After he said to call the police. But He was a call to like seems easily dominant girl and has ask to explain that she is doing is ok. He was taken away to make me apologize after that without his own apology. I apologized because it was a bad accident for her. But Its just his problem. He never apologized to her. Very creepy but I finally give up will checking room when I check out with him. So, he changed smile and said he want to follow the airport or Soul . Dominate again... He told every girls to do it, but I don't want it and too much the act. So I refused many times, but he didn't stop follow me. Before I refuse , He said that he would call the police . But I just refuse his creepy kindness. That time He try to withdraw money of my card said check number if even though he didn't do anything. Too dangerous. He seems completely narcissistic personality disorder. I don't want to talk him, so I deside I'm runaway before take pictures of my bed . Stop the card number because I think that he will try to withdraw money later if even I don't make dirty room. Moreover, even though I said that one wash was free, First he said but change that it would cost 5000w is free for first time . But I paid . He told change after I refused help from him many times and want to see my shorts
- Ochirkhuyag (6/5): - Location is very good.
- rikkamorante (6/5): Not as bad as expected - To be honest, it’s not as bad as the other reviews say. We only booked this initially for our visa but forgot to cancel the booking afterwards. Hence we didn’t have a choice but to stay here. I was at first sad because the reviews at this place were really bad but when I got there, it’s more than what I expected.
True that the owner was super strict and a bit weird. He has all the rules - you can’t eat, no slippers, you can’t turn the heater on for more than 2 hours (or you’ll burn down the hotel yikes! Or maybe I didn’t understood what he said well), no stains on the bedsheet, you have to put the dirty towel outside everyday, etc. Also, you have to be on time with the checkin or else you won’t get to see him. I said “weird” because there was an unforgettable encounter, wherein he persistently knocked on our bedroom at 11pm just to inform us that he already put the clean towels at our door (of course I didn’t open it and just wait for him to call cuz me and my sister got scared haha). But overall he seems nice.
When it comes to the room itself, if you are not that picky, it’s tolerable. The room we stayed at (for 2 persons) was a bit small. We went here during winter so thank god they had this heater placed under the bed so it kept us warm - if u don’t open it, the place is like a freezer. They also have warm and cold water so it was good enough. As far as I can remember, they don’t have curfew so it worked good for us. They don’t have elevators but they have this crate where you can put your baggages and it will go to your floor automatically. The owner is strict with the time, so at exactly checkout time, his maid comes in the room and will kick you out.
The location is VERY great. It’s near the train stations, shopping district, convenience stores, restaurants etc.
Overall the place is okay. If I were to go back to Korea with no picky companions, I would stay again in this place as it has a very strategic location.
- BridieB25 (2/5): Avoid! Owner is INSANE - The photos on website are misleading. Many weird rules and cctv everywhere not relaxing at all. I argued with him and said i will leave early (despite already paying 3 night) i was too disgusted by the hotel and his behaviour.
He walked into my room when I was undressed!! He is a crazy horrible man...he threatened to call police if i did not pay the cleaning charge or something even though I was leaving early after already paying. As a girl on my own i felt indimidated and wanted to just leave so I let him fine me. He argues with guests with no embarrasment
I booked this hotel in a hurry I regret not looking at reviews! Do not even consider this place!!!!
- youngkyoonb (2/5): INCONVENIENT HOTEL - Staying at this hotel is really really worst. Totally not recommended! The location was not so convenient to find. The room is so dirty and old fashioned. We had uncomfortable stay and there are a lots of don'ts. The staff are not accommodating.
- bmcwu (2/5): THIS IS NOT A HOTEL BUT HOSTEL. NEVER BOOK THIS PLACE. BAD OWNER - NEVER BOOK THIS PLACE. DECEIVING PICTURES ON BOOKING SITES. THE OWNER WILL CANCEL YOUR BOOKING AFTER GETTING YOUR MONEY.
I can give you seven reasons why you should never give this place a chance.
First, the owner is very rude and he demands that you follow all the rules like you were a homeless person and he was generous enough to let you avail his hostel.
Second, the owner would demand a credit card even if you selected to pay in cash. To be honest, I paid for 4 nights and he canceled my whole booking because my credit card was not working.
Third, he forced me to checkout and said that I am blacklisted on his place. He did not give the payment back and kept it to himself for the third and fourth night that I can no longer avail. He would not mind to embarrass his guests by shouting at them.
Fourth, no shoes allowed past by the lobby and you have to leave them there and the hostel door is always open 24/7. Eating and drinking anything except water is not allowed as well, you can only do it on the fifth floor. NO ELEVATOR.
Fifth, the walls are so thin you can basically hear the conversation next door.
Sixth, the photos they presented on booking sites are deception of what you can expect.
Seventh, the rooms are dirty, cramped, and looks tattered.
Do not ruin your trip to Korea. Skip this hostel.
- banafshehz2018 (2/5): Thief Hostel Manager - Staying in this hostel was the worst of my travel experiences all over the world. First of all the picture you see from this hostel in the websites such as agoda is fake. Second, they don't have elevator, and if your room is in for example 4th floor, you have no choice but to leave your luggage downstairs in hallways where every body can simply steal it. When I got back home after my three days stay there, I realized they charged my credit card for $22 US for absolutely no reason. They say they provide breakfast for free, but there was no tea or coffee when I stayed there!!
- roadster2018 (2/5): "Would not go back or recommend to others...." - 1. 5 min walks from Chungmuro Subway Station and 15 min walks from Myeong-
dong shopping area.
2. The room is small and smells stinky. By the way, it’s not hotel, just cheap hostel
with old furniture and dull looks. Nothing interesting at all.
3. All kind of weird regulations and policies for hostel guest.
4. Need to switch off the hall way lights every time go out
5. You have to open your shoes to enter the hall way to your room, even in cold
winter.
6. CCTV is everywhere watching your movements, no privacy at all.
7. No lift, just stairs (5 floors up)
8. No heater in the rooms just heated bed. The floor feels so cold in the winter.
9. Walls are too thin. You can even hear snoring from next room.
10. Owner hardly speaks English. Always have to type in his mobile phone, so he
can convert to Korean language.
11. We stayed for 5 nights, no daily housekeeping. Only 2 face towels will be given
every day. That’s it. No toiletries. Small cramp up bathroom. Hardly can move
around. Toilet smell stinks.
12. Only 2 person in charge, one the owner which hardly available and the cleaner.
13. Self checked-out policy. Just drop off the keys in small box located at stairways
on first floor. Anybody can have excess to your keys. No safety at all. He can
even claim that you have taken the keys and lost it, therefore you have to pay
KRW50, 000. 00 for replacement. Make sure, you hand over the keys in his (Mr.
Kim) hands. They make extra money by oppressing their guest with foul claims.
Be careful, we almost got cheated by the owner of this hostel.
14. Owner will enter your room whenever he feels like he needs to do so without
even knocking your door. So, unethical and rude. The building belongs to him,
so he can do whatever he wants.
15. Breakfast only stinky plain bread and strawberry jam every day, stuff in fridge.
No coffee or tea.
15. Location, along an alley full with Koreans. 2 pubs close to the hotels which
dominated by Koreans, and you can hear loud noises at night from drunk
people.
16. Not allowed to bring food to your rooms.
17. Overall, too much rules feel like staying in boarding school instead of vacation
hostel.
18. Not worth it. Please stay away from this hostel. The owner look at you just like
his income, that's all. Not interested to assist you with your stay.
19. There are other hotel and hostel around the area with same pricing but better
looking and better facilities.
20. I have warned you, the rest is your choice. Please do your research. Have a
good holiday.
- honestadam2018 (2/5): Stay Away, Unethical Business Practise - Stayed for 5 nights in March, 2018.
Our Honest View for this Hostel:
Pros:
- close to Chungmuro Subway Station, Convenient Store.
Cons:
- upon arrival he (hostel owner, Mr. Kim) ask to pay cash so he don’t have to pay commissions to Booking.com. We insist on charging our credit card, but he said he will charge another 10% for service charges. I thought when we book with Booking.com the price should be fixed. We were tired, not in mood to argue we just paid KRW187,000 cash for 5 nights. He showed us this weird rules to be followed, like no shoes walking to your room. Come on, is cold winter (-1 degree Celsius). Switch off lights on corridors, at night. We are on vacation, not boarding school.
- Breakfast only old cheap bread with strawberry jam, which we did not eat at all.
- CCTV is everywhere watching your movement; even he can just enter your room without knocking the door. Since the property belongs to him, he can do whatever he wants. No respect at all.
- Only 2 persons that I see on this hostel, Mr. Kim and the Cleaning Lady. Nobody at the front desk except during check-ins at 2.30 pm. Self-service check -outs, just drop your keys and leave. BEWARE, if you overused hot shower or electricity, he will charge on your credit card, only you will find out after reaching your home. Unethical business practice.
-Close to pubs, at nights mostly people are drunk on this alley. Specially koreans. This area, 100% are Koreans.
- Booking.com images of the property are fake, not real. Please do your research on this property, before any disappointment.
- No heater in the room just heated bed. No towels or toiletries, just 2 face towels everyday hang outside your door. No cleaning done for all the nights we stayed. No elevator, just small food elevator to take your luggage up. Still you have to climb stairs. What a horrible mistake that I made, I should have read and believe the reviews. I hope you don’t make the same mistake. Again, do your research.
Please…please…please, stay away from this hostel. There are many hotel and hostel around the area. Again, do your research well. Have a good holiday.
- 595jayv (2/5): Old tasty bread for breakfast. - We booked 5days and 4 nights and these are my honest reviews.
Pros:
- near chungmuro subway station.( 2 to 3 mins walk).
- myeongdong market is about 10 to 15 mins walk. (1 station away).
Cons:
- weird rules of the owner.
- only cold and old tasty bread for breakfast and little strawberry jam.no other choices.
- there is no customer service representative on duty. So if you check in late on a winter day you have no choice to wait until the owner come in the morning.
- you are not allowed to walk with your shoes going inside your room. Everytime you go in and out of your room you have to remove your shoes. Hassle right??
- you will feel your not welcome on the hostel and there is always that feeling that the owner is always watching you on cctv.
- picture posted on their website os different on the actual unit.
- you are not allowed to use the hot shower for long time. The owner even called and told us that we are taking too long inside the shower even if we just started taking a bath.
- no heater inside the room!, good luck on winter days.
- bring your own towel. They only provide small face towel.
- they will get your credit card details even the CV #.
- owner will ask you to pay extra for early check in.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay in seoul. We just wanted to go home late so we can't see the owner. Hahaha.
Just look for other hotels or guest house.
- merylimblog (2/5): Disappointing service and beware of Agoda app. - This is just to warn people to not make the same mistake I did. I had booked via the Agoda app and when I was intending to cancel, it was stated that there was no cancellation fee and it was free to cancel. I therefore proceeded to cancel only to find that I was charged the full amount of my booking which was 5 nights which was quite an amount for a student. Apparently the hotel has a policy of cancellation not stated when I cancelled through the app. I then proceeded on the day itself to contact agoda and the hostel ( same day)notifying them that if I knew it wasnt free I wouldn't have cancelled and requested if I could have the booking reinstated. It was a frustrating process and the owner kept hanging up on agoda personells. I myself had been hung up on. I had a Korean friend who contacted the owner with approval from the Agoda personell, and she was rudely spoken to and yelled at. It was disappointing. I guess it doesn't hurt to be polite and nice and I cancelled two weeks prior to my booking. The day I cancelled I requested it to be reinstated. And if it can't be reinstated, it would have been a humane way to at least refund part of the booking because 5 nights was a long booking period. Most of all, I hated how we were treated. Also, beware on making bookings on agoda app. I have been using booking.com for years now and hadn't had an issue like this.
- f6oekqu (8/5): Strategic Place in the Center of Seoul - One of the places I can definitely recommend when in Seoul. It's near Myeong-dong and Dongdaemun. Within 100m you're in Chungmuro Station, which is helpful for travelers going to the two places I mentioned and Gyeongbokgung and Insa-dong. The owner, Mr. Kim, is very strict at first, but he just wants you to treat your room as your own room. But after a while, he's very helpful in providing directions to tourist spots and will lend a hand in lifting your baggage.
- wisitap (2/5): Mr. Kim is the most annoying person ever - we weren't expecting too much in a Hostel breakfast but no breakfast as mentioned on room description while booking. He said the breakfast is inside the fridge when i asked, and there was nothing(only empty tiffin). The lobby was super messy. the owner doesn't allow food inside the room, we had to climp to the lobby (5th floor) after a loooooong day full of sightseeing, every step was a nightmare just to eat our food (no elevator/lift). moreover, the owner (Mr.Kim) is very meticulous about cleanliness of his property, he made me feel like a children and less comfortable for something i paid for.
