- Meeta (9/5): Fantastic!! Highly recommended - The staff is extremely warm & helpful be it the reception or the room service or the shuttle drivers. Room size is nice. Very clean. The shuttle service is a great idea. Beds & pillows are comfortable. Nice walks all around. 1. Breakfast like all American hotels is just bread & bread products with scrambled eggs & cereals. Which gets monotonous. There can be maybe some changes in egg choices or sandwiches etc 2. In the bathrooms there are no cups or glasses to put your brushes of paste 3. Ice depensers on floors don’t have water dispensers so you have to go down but that is cool since it is not too many floors

Alex always greets me with a smile and meets all of my needs. The other employees are also great, rooms clean and breakfast provides variety and a tasty start to the day.
- Dr_Icarus (10/5): A Pleasant One-Night Stay - My wife and I had a lovely one-night stay and were delighted that the hotel was nicer than expected. We liked the clean and spacious room, the friendly staff, the ample parking and the nearby Starbucks.
- cindybK8663AL (10/5): Above and beyond across the board - The staff at this hotel goes above and beyond across the board, my flight was delayed during an incredibly busy conference, the manager Ashley came and picked me up from the airport herself! The front desk staff was helpful and pleasant going out of their way to make dinner recommendations or helping to arrange rides and late checkout. The shuttle drivers Joe and his counterpart in the evening were friendly, accommodating, inspired confidence in their service and were always happy to pick us up from dinner despite constantly running around Madison. Last but not least this hotel is clean. While waiting to leave the lobby was being cleaned and they moved every last luggage cart to clean underneath. They clearly take pride in this facility and providing great service!

The hotel is located in a great location. Most of the time there was sausage gravy, but no biscuits. When there were some biscuits they were placed with the other bread products and not near the sausage gravy.

Sam cordially allowed us to preview rooms. We had previously booked a room from another hotel that promised a fragrance free room-but they didn’t deliver. We walked right in to HIE and were able to find a lovely room, hosted by lovely staff. Thank you for not overpowering your hotel with fake, cheap fragrance! We’ll be back!

The grab and go bags in the breakfast area are a great idea. Bathroom lighting is too dim for using the mirror, especially for near sighted people. A lighted makeup mirror would be an excellent update.

There were cobwebs all along the ceiling. It was fine but it’s an easy thing to clean so not sure how so much was missed

But I do understand that a gripper shower mat would be a difficult item for a hotel to provide and clean.

Vending area in lobby. Ample parking. Pool, meeting room. 2 bed-rooms are spacious, beds are comfortable, and have both soft and firm pillows. Lots of places to charge your electronic devices. Very clean. Microwave and fridge. Nice bathroom with no-fog mirror. Fluffy towels, and Dove lotion, hand soap, body wash, shampoo and conditioner. Breakfast served weekdays 6:00 - 9:30. Buffet includes a variety of juices, freshly brewed coffee (regular or decaf), tea. Also cold cereals. Oatmeal and selection of toppings, scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy, pork and turkey sausage, fresh make-your-own pancakes, pastries, bagels, make your own toast, apples. Everything was fresh, and staff member checked offerings often. Surfaces were cleaned frequently.

- Marsya (10/5): My stay was very comfortable with clean, spacious rooms, helpful amenities, and a welcoming lobby! - I really appreciated the variety of breakfast options, and I liked that they change the selection daily. I also super appreciate the complimentary tea and coffee! The small convenience shop in the lobby is also very handy for grabbing a snack. It would be even better if there were a microwave available in the lobby for guests to use. I spent about two hours there after checking out waiting for a friend, and it would have been nice to heat up some food. I also enjoyed the lobby area itself. The business center with printers and computers is a thoughtful touch (even though I didn’t need them, it was reassuring to have them available). I spent some time studying in the lobby, and having power outlets available for charging my laptop made it very convenient. As for the hotel room, I liked that it was spacious, very clean, and well-equipped (hair dryer, iron, microwave, fridge, many storage spaces, etc). The water pressure was excellent, and the amenities were of high quality. I also really appreciate that the shampoo and conditioner are separate, and that there’s body lotion conveniently placed near the sink (little things that made my stay more enjoyable).
- BuckyB83 (10/5): Pleasant stay; nice property - One of the nicer Holiday Inn Express properties that I’ve stayed at. Up-to-date facilities and courteous staff. The first night we were there they offered an evening reception with beer/wine and hors d’oeuvres, which is fairly unusual for a HIE. The room was generally clean, although there were some marks on the walls of the bathroom (near the light switch and garbage can) that looked like they could come off with a little scrubbing. There is a relatively busy road on the front side of the hotel and a train track on the back side. We stayed on the backside but heard only 1 slow moving train each night. It really didn’t disrupt our stay. Breakfast was standard HIE fare, with hot oatmeal, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage, along with breads, cereals, etc.. There is a self-service coffee maker in the lobby where you can make coffee 24/7. They offer to-go bags with a granola bar, apple and water if you have to leave before breakfast is served (6 am on weekdays). They offer a free shuttle within a 3-mile radius of the hotel, but we didn’t use it. The hotel is in a great location, not too far from downtown but far enough that they don’t charge for parking!

- Amy (9/5): - There were 2 employees at the front desk when we checked in during the 3 pm hour of Saturday, October 4, 2025, and BOTH of them were EXCELLENT! The employee taking care of the breakfast area in the 10 am hour of Sunday, October 5, 2025 was also excellent, he was really busting his butt to get everything out, he should get a shout out. Thought you'd have a hot tub along with the pool. A minor quibble.

The free shuttle within 3 miles was a great convenience and the drivers were always friendly and helpful. Most of all, the staff were absolutely wonderful. They were friendly, warm, and caring, and helpful. My family was going through an extremely difficult situation, and the staff were so kind and gracious and did everything they could to help us out. We will be back!

- frozentravler (10/5): Take advantage of the Patio - The parking is free. Check in was efficient. The staff we had contact were excellent making sure you were enjoying your stay. The breakfast was your standard fare. The breakfast area has plenty of seating. They have 2 coffee machines that make fresh ground coffee 24 hrs a day. The room was spacious as was the bathroom (suite). Beds were comfortable. There is a patio with fireplace at the back of the hotel. It is nice and had a comfortable feeling about it. They have a free shuttle that takes you anywhere in a 3 mile radius until 10 pm. We used it to go to Badgers football game. The only complaint we had was pool was to cold for our liking. The pool is salt water. There are 15 outdoor plastic chairs, and 5 knee high plastic tables. There is no hot tub or game room.

I was visiting Madison to compete in Ironman Wisconsin. The facility and all amenities were well maintained and clean throughout. The Staff went above and beyond to welcome and care for guests while staying. It was a pleasure staying at this hotel during my visit to Madison. I will definitely stay at this location when I return, and recommend this hotel to any travellers.

- 869gretak (6/5): Great staff, some issues - Second time staying here. My previous review I bumped them up to 5 stars, for a lovely staff interaction. I am once again adding a star for an incredibly lovely staff, but unfortunately the rest of the hotel experience was not ideal, bringing us down to three stars. We had a couple waterbugs in our bathroom, and the front desk person in the morning was mortified and offered me many points to make up for it. She assured me that they have regular exterminators aiming to keep the hotel bug-free, and that they will let them know to give special attention to our room. I appreciate the effort she made to make things right.

Parking très pratique et gratuit. Hotel neuf et lumineux. A dix minutes du centre ville et très facile d'accès en arrivant en voiture. Très proche aussi des différents campus de l'Université Madison Il faut une voiture (mais nous l'avions et c'est donc plus pratique de loger ou se trouve cet hôtel qu'en centre ville). Le vitre de la douche dans notre chambre était fissuré, mais le personnel nous a changé de chambre immédiatement avec grande attention et la nouvelle chambre n'avait pas de problèmes.

- DEBORAH (10/5): You can’t go wrong here. - All the staff we encountered were cheerful & genuinely friendly. We didnt use the free shuttle, but what a great service to offer! Free parking was also a draw for us. Love nuts & raisins for the oatmeal. Its not a complaint, just something I forgot to report— the toilet in 321 is wiggly on its base. The breakfast area is a little narrow woth everything in a straight line & that wall preventing too much movement behind people standing to fill their plate or waiting toe things to heat. The coffee machine has a fancy feel, but its slow & doesnt really make coffee any better than fresh brewed coffee being served from an urn.

Angelleigh at the front desk was very friendly and helpful, especially with scheduling our shuttle rides. We used the free shuttle several times to get to a nearby wedding venue, the Memorial Union, and to the Farmer’s Market. Joe the shuttle driver was very courteous and informative about the area. Loved the location of this hotel-right on the bike path which goes by the lake. The large container of fruit infused water in the lobby was a nice touch!

There was flavored water and a coffee/tea machine that was self service. Rooms were good size and very clean. The staff was exceptional and especially Sam! He was so friendly and accommodating! It was so refreshing to have someone so joyful in his job and interacting during check-in and everyone we came back to the hotel!

I had to extend my stay for two nights due to incomplete research travel, the front desk is very professional (it was busy, and guests were waiting, staff served all well). The room is clean and comfortable. The shuttle service is excellent and convenient, you can go anywhere within 3 miles. The breakfast is good. The service was outstanding!
