Guest Reviews
- Alana (8/5): Hotel all fine! - The Hotel Novo was as described, great staff, hotel could do with some tlc but I was only one night here arriving late from the airport and heading to the Pacific next day. Room was clean, bed was comfy, WiFi worked fine and breakfast was much appreciated. Couldn't adjust the air con but that could have been user error from my side. Can't really complain from a price/quality point of view. Also there was no noise but I was not on the street side. Really handy if you are using the bus station.
- John (6/5): - It was ok for the price. Breakfast was ok.
It's in a dodgy area, so don't go outside after dark on your own and keep phones, jewellery and valuables out of sight
- Dany (8/5): - Very well located. Closed by parking are very expensive. Quite noisy between 5AM and midnight (note that i live country side). price is good for the location
- manton (10/5): - Staff is very nice and food is great
- hector de jesus (8/5): - Nice hotel, to stay one night. The area doesn't look very safe
- Charles (10/5): - Loud traffic early in the morning and loud music in the evening.
- Stan (2/5): - The Hotel is located in the worst part of San Jose, there were people sleeping on the sidewalks which was piled with garbage, you were warned not to go out the Hotel during the night, I requested a refund of part of the fees, but they refused, I spent three nights and had to move to a safer area in San Juan, San Jose.
- Nicholas (6/5): Average: not too bad, not too good - It sufficed. Some of the fixtures and fittings (electrical sockets) did not work, could be cleaner, a bit run down and in a run down neighbourhood. Not too bad a place, also not too good
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great staff. The only con was the low water pressure in the shower. Bear in mind that there's constant music from shops around during the whole day, if your room faces the street (it didn't matter to me in general, just when I had online meetings 😂)
- Wing (8/5): - Right around the corner of the hotel is the central avenue. There are museums, parks, central market on both sides of the avenue. I can walk to them in less than 30 mins. It is also closed to various bus stations, such as the NICA, TICA and Terminal 7.10. In the night time, I prefer to take UBER.
The staff are very nice. The hotel provided breakfast. The room is exactly same as the pictures.
- Yomira Yanina (8/5): - Muy centrico , todo está Serca mcdonald's , el parque , almacenes , restaurante
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable stay - We had a very comfortable stay and the breakfast was excellent. It was perfect for what we needed and at a good price. The safe and one of the lights didn’t work. As it’s central, it is noisy in the mornings.
- Carlos (8/5): - Its an ok place to stay at for 50 dlls a night. Beware that it is located at the very downtown of San Jose so besides the fact that fortunately I didnt go through any inconvenieces it still seemed somewhat unsafe specially if you are traveling with your girlfriend or kids. Dont expose them.
Tourist locations are located nearby, I walked to those. Hotel functions were ok except for the fact that the water was coming out warm instead of hot. The staff was attenentive and helpful
- Shawntez (8/5): - Great place to stay if you want to get a real feel for San Jose. It’s not super pretty but I felt safe and it had everything I needed
- Joanne (10/5): Great value in a great location. - We took the local bus from San Jose airport to the Tuasa bus station. Just a short walk from the station brought us to Novo hotel, which is located in the thick of the city. Walking from the hotel to the National Museum and other sights was easy and interesting, with shops, buskers and street sellers to explore on the way. The hotel itself is a little dated, but our room was big with a comfortable bed, got walk - in shower, fridge, good a/c and TV. The 24 hour reception gave us easy check out when we left at 5am to catch the bus back to the airport. This was a great place to stay in San Jose.
- Elisabeth (10/5): - Great location! You can walk to nearby shops, parks, restaurants, and a bus station that goes to the airport. I love that we can leave our luggage and they have a place to hold it so we can drop our car off. The on-site restaurant is delicious and the staff are friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. The street traffic can get a little noisy but I can easily fall back asleep. I have stayed here before and will continue to do so in the future.
- Travis (8/5): - A very basic but clean and friendly hotel. It is very close to the bus stations (ex: Tuaso bus to the airport)....2 minutes walk with luggage. The hotel is in the downtown, central market areas....lots of butcher shops, clothes shopping, fast food, and casinos. The breakfast is simply but good. The staff is friendly and professional. No luxury but safe, clean, and friendly.
- Christopher (10/5): - Hotel Novo is a plain, decent hotel. Everything works. The staff is friendly and helpful. Good rates, with a good breakfast included. The neighborhood is typical of a busy city. Best of all, the hotel is around the corner from Avenida Central, a long, lively pedestrian mall that includes the vibrant Mercado Central.
- Nina Krishna (6/5): - Near central market
- Christopher (10/5): - The hotel is reliable and functional. The staff were friendly and helpful. The block in front of it isn't that great, but it's around the corner from the pedestrian mall that leads to the mercado and other shopping, food, and drinks. Very convenient. Good value.
- Steven Joseph (6/5): - Ok
- Allen (8/5): - Room was a good size, very clean, good air condition, large bright windows, comfy double bed, clean bathroom with hot shower, tv worked fine many English channels, felt secure, and quiet, decent breakfast in the morning, helpful friendly staff.
Location convenient where Paseo Colon meets Avenida Central close to Central Market.
The area requires caution at night.
Overall was pleased with the hotel which offers a lot for the relatively inexpensive price, my girlfriend and I would definitely go back.
- RAY (10/5): - Hotel Novo is located in the perfect location for walking San Jose. You can hear and feel the hustle and bustle of the city. If you want quiet and peaceful, this is not the place for you but to "feel" the city of San Jose in your bones, stay right here! The staff is great from the front desk to the cleaning personnel to the dining facility. Don't miss the chance to experience San Jose to the fullest! Wake up early to the sounds of the street and let those same sounds lull you to sleep at night. I will definitely return to the Hotel Novo!
- Irma (8/5): - To much noise every night outside the hotel.
- Nikki (8/5): - Very convenient for the centre of San Jose. The rooms and bathroom were dated but clean. It was noisy at night as in the centre but ear plugs did the trick
- Gerardo (8/5): - Good and cheap hotel near the city center. Excelent included breakfast.
- AGRIPINA (8/5): - The staff was exelent. clean rooms
- Mabel (8/5): Great for the budget-no-frills traveler! - We stayed here just to crash for the night before our early departure flight to SJO. I picked this hotel because it is just ~2 walking blocks from the bus station to the airport. It is also walking distance to a street that is lined with shops/restaurants/sodas and no car traffic.
Check in was quick. Check out was great too because we left at 3:45am and the receptionist was there (lightly asleep on the couch) to quickly process us out.
The room was mostly clean and spacious. I will say a cockroach ran into the room with us but we just saw one. And this is the city. And the price is fantastic.
- Joel (10/5): - Highly recommended if you're looking for something cool and quiet.
- Joel (10/5): - The coolness and the lack of sound in my room, coupled with the relative lack of noise.
- Elisabeth (10/5): Would stay here again - The hotel is pretty great all around. Great location walking distance to the bus stain that goes to the airport. Breakfast is included and it's delicious. The rooms are clean. Shops and restaurants are close by. The only thing i can think that might put people off is the sound of the street traffic but i don't mind it. I always stay here when I'm leaving Costa Rica
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff was great. Very welcoming and cooperative. The location is perfect for getting around the center on foot.
- Jose (10/5): Friendly - Good spot and everyone was helpful. Breakfast was great
- Daryl (10/5): Close to everything - Very central.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - You’ll be surprise, as the picture of the hotel in the site is nothing like the real thing. Roaches in the room, towels with holes, terrible in general. Location is good, but a super sketchy area.
- Ranjan (4/5): - This is one of the worst hotels I stayed for the price $99, I paid for a room. run down type room with dirty looking bathroom with dim light and small size. The Breakfast was awful just one serving of everything. So, don't pay for the Breakfast here. There were hardly anyone here, yet they couldn't give a better service.
- Bobbie (8/5): Helpful staff - Hotel and room clean and tidy. Scrambled eggs bacon, rice and beans Breakfast was available from 7am. Excellent location to access town centre. Reception staff very helpful in arranging tours and assisting with any issues. They also arranged to have a filled roll ready for an early departure before the kitchen was open, which was highly appreciated. Street outside our unit was busy and a bit of traffic noise was intrusive.
- Tom (8/5): Solid deal - Solid hotel in the center of the city. Nice room, nice breakfast.
- Cesar (10/5): Excelente serví a bajo costo. - Great.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Tidy and clean hotel with friendly staff. Close to 2 bus stations, including the airport bus, as well as being just round the corner from the main high street.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Near all the bars, in city centre area and close to all the various bus stations
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Only stayed here for a few hours to sleep, but i thought it was great and would consider staying again. The room was clean, staff was nice, it was reasonably priced, and it's walking distance to the bus station for the airport. Since i had to leave early, only my husband was able to have breakfast there. He told me he liked the breakfast.
- Tom (8/5): Nice rooms with ideal location - This little hotel is an ideal stay if you have business to do in the center. The location is perfect although on weekends there is a disco across from the hotel and you need earplugs. But the windows are super thick and the hotel provides really goid earplugs. The free breakfast is wonderful and the rooms are great. Just make sure they don't give you a room with no windows.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Perfect location downtown by main pedestrian mall where the main attractions on. 5 McDonald’s within 5 minute walk! Breakfasts hot and good but lacking fruit. Most staff have little English but in the end transactions went well. But unable to get tourist information on San Jose or day trips or tours. Great hotel since good hotel in perfect location.
- Donald (10/5): Great Hotel - Very nice hotel for the price. Will definitely stay there again while in San Jose.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This is a budget hotel with amenities worth the money spent. I had a room without windows, but that turned out to be great! The only downside to the hotel is that it is across from a clu with music all night long. I always have the tv going all night ag a low level so it was no issue for me. I will stay agai.
- Manuel (10/5): Great stay! - The service was great, the staff was amazing and the breakfast was delicious. Rooms were always clean, the Appliances all worked, and the price was perfect.
- elisha (10/5): Great place to stay on a budget! - Great staff on arrival, clean room and bathrooms. Breakfast was more then I expected. Amazing and friendly staff.
If you’re after somewhere to stay on a budget and right in the city centre then look no further. 10 our of 10 in a budget hotel sense.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good for the price - Close to everything. Safe area. Beds and linen were clean however i was itching all night. I was thinking bed bugs or scabies but couldnt be sure. Probably the chemicals used to clean them. Breakfast was decent but they make you pay for coffee and other drinks. Bring your own water. The room was a steady cool. No a/c or heat needed. It is a great deal and knowing how fast San Jose is growing. Probably will not last long at this price. Hotels are expensive and hard to find now. This hotel will be bought out by a big company and prices will soar. Just like the others.
- Gringoloco (8/5): 16 Nights...... - The only problem I had with the stay was the noise from the street below, which is a major West bound street. Complete with buses, taxis, trucks and cars that feel it necessary to blow the horn at "Red Lights" to notify other drivers they are not stopping, ha ha......This went on every night and on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights the club about half a block away blasted the music so loud it would actually vibrate the windows in the room. My suggestion would be to stay in an interior room if you are not a smoker like I am. Very few English speaking channels on the cable. The staff were all friendly and very accommodating. The free breakfast was very tasty. Overall, I would stay there again and look forward to my next stay......
- Anisa (8/5): - Nice hotel close to everything in the center of town.
- Jorge (10/5): Very nice place to stay in san Jose. - This place was perfect for me . I don't have any complains , everything was as expected. Breakfast was good, the location was good, the service was good and the value for my money was there.. The staff was helpful and friendly, specially Teresa. Thanks to all of them. I definitely recommend this place.
- Elisa (8/5): very acceptable - simple breakfast was good. - Located downtown , walking distance from most of the out of town busses. Mcdonalds nearby and local eats also- 10 mins or so from center of town. Interior rooms with no windows were quiet- air con worked to keep air moving and tv had some english stations. Great houskeeping lady found my charger cord before we left- big thank you!!!!
- Marc (10/5): Excellent clean basic reasonably priced hotel. - We stayed here twice when in transit through San Jose. Hotel Novo is near pedestrian only areas, bus service to the airport. The day receptionist was very helpful and provided directions and suggestions of where to eat. She also called bus stations to locate which of the many stations had service to our destination. Basic clean hotel for a reasonable price. Suggest the inside rooms, which have no window but are very quiet.
- Michael (10/5): Great hotel - Great hotel location service friendly staff quiet only the internet was a little slow at times for Netflix but each time I come to San José I am staying there.
- waverider (10/5): a great stopover hotel - the front desk lady { I forgot her name} exhibits the professionalism of the hotel; the check in was awesome, all the hotel and surrounding city info that was given was great...but the check out procedure was something I did not expect......the front desk lady {again I forgot her name}....on her own time stayed up till 3:00am next morning in the hotel lobby to receive my room key and to bide me goodbye on my stay;...that is cool;.....gracias hotel novo and if I'm in san jose in the future, i'll definitely stay here again
- Bart (4/5): Nice staff, but horrible facilities - The staff complied with all requests properly. The room was clean. Unfortunately, the room facilities were none, there were only 4 electric sockets in the room (while 2 of them were for refrigerator and TV) and none of them near the bed. The building including the room was old and disgusting, safe did not work. There was always a noise outside which was hearable. The image of the entrance on Expedia does not comply with the reality. I wouldn't call it 3-star hotel and spend this same money neither.
- Nicole (8/5): Good for the price - Got into the room at 2am via taxi and everything was smooth. The rooms could use some updating but it was very clean and great location to the bus station and to walk around. The front desk was very nice! Our room had no window so it was pretty quite. Good wifi in the room.
- Ananth (2/5): Choose Another - Stayed one night. Aging hotel. The room was windowless and the furnishings were somewhat dirty. I had to start for the airport the next morning and around 7a asked about getting a bite of breakfast early. They would not even give me coffee. All in all, one can find much better places in the area.
- Helen (10/5): Decent - Above average clean and acceptable without mold. Great staff and awesome typical breakfast. Other meals were very good. Central.
- Silver Uke (8/5): No window made for quiet hotel in very active city - Walkable to central market , shops, food, bank. Clean room ready ups n arrival. Typical breakfast included. Toiletries in clean bathroom. Asked for third towel for our triple room. Safe for valuables. Only hotel to make copy of passport during entire two week stay in Costa Rica. Asked for copy page to be returned upon our departure, but was show a 3-ring binder of all foreign guest passport copies saved, and kept for future if needed by authorities.
- Tatiana (10/5): - Thehotel is cheap and very nice, very clean. Staff is very nice. Location is near the city center
- Verified traveler (2/5): Avoid this place - In a dangerous neighbourhood. Don't believe what you see on this hotel.
- Barerah (10/5): Above and beyond! - The hotel staff (Theresa) went above and beyond to make sure that my mother and I had an enjoyable stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel for the location, cleanliness and overall hospitality.
- Larry (8/5): Great Hotel in Central San Jose - Great staff. Comfortable bed. Clean room. Good location. Free and good breakfast. Computer for people to use. Free international calls. Staff helped arrange a good nature tour.
- Shreesh (4/5): Bad. - Normal
- Patrick (8/5): Decent value hotel in centro San Jose - I stayed here for a total of 3 nights under 2 separate bookings. I was able to leave my luggage in a secured storage room behind the reception desk. Prior to booking, the hotel staff exchanged emails and provided good information. Two receptionists lady can speak English and are helpful. The reception facility is simple but I got my room quickly. The room key card didn't operate for both 2 rooms so manual key was required. The room décor is simple but very clean and inviting. The room size is considered big and the mattress is comfy. Bathroom size is big and fridge is available. The hotel comes with a dining room but no sure if lunch or dinner are served. Breakfast is included and adequate. The hotel is located in a busy area with proximity to 3 bus stations. I used the Bus terminal 7/10 which is about 5 blocks (5-10 minute walk) from the hotel.

One needs to take note that odd room numbers offer window view but can be quite noisy from the busy street while even room numbers have no window but offer quite environment.
- Verified traveler (6/5): It's ok - Close to shopping walking distance to all over good food and places to see
- Javier (8/5): Nice Hotel Close to the City
- Excelente localizacion, walking distance y un personal amigable. Desayuno incluido.
- peterson (2/5): Don't give go hotel novo - Worst. There were bugs and the room smells.
The location is in somebody slum area looks dangerous . Why you list this in HOtel.com
- saurabh (10/5): Value for money - Staff was great. Specially the receptionist who made sure we had some breakfast really early in the morning before we caught flights. Breakfast was amazing
- Grecia Becerra (4/5): - Normal.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Okay spot, good location - This hotel was relatively cheap and OK overall. The room was pretty standard but a little dirty and the AC didn't really work. There was also loud construction going on within the hotel pretty early in the morning. This hotel is within walking distance to a variety of restaurants, the central market, and a large park, so it was easy to explore the area on foot. The free breakfast was also decent. Overall, I wouldn't mind staying here again for one night for the price. There may be better options though.
- diane (8/5): Great location in the heart of downtown - This was our 3rd stay at this hotel was we were traveling around Costa Rica. We were offered a room with a window this time. It was great to be able to view the city life below. The room was comfortable, the bed was great and breakfast was good. The staff was very helpful.
- diane (8/5): Nice hotel in city center - This was our second stay. Very central to shopping, bus terminals and tourist attractions. The only thing that seems a little strange is no windows in the room.
- diane (8/5): Nice simple hotel right next to ave Central - This hotel is nice simple and clean. Breakfast was very good and the staff was great - very helpful. The location is perfect for seeing sights in San Jose. The only concern was our rom didn't have a window, but it did make for a quiet and dark night.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel - Good hotel to stay close to shopping and the street mall. The staff is great and will try to answer all your questions.
Hotel front rooms little noisy but to be expected in a busy part of the city during the day but quiet at night Hotel working on new windows to fix this.. staff will give you room in the back if you request.. over all for a quick downtown stay in San Jose I would recommend this hotel. The bus station to or from airport is 2 blocks away and for a $1 or 560 colons a great deal and fast compared to 25 dollars by taxi to airport.
- paul (8/5): Central, clean and comfortable - Great central location, a couple blocks from mercado central and many great restaurants, although safe to walk around during the day, probably not so much at night but taxis are plentiful and cheap. The hotel is older but clean, staff was friendly and always willing to help us. The free breakfast hits the spot. You can't beat the price for what you get .
- Eric (8/5): - Everything was fine, except the laud noise from the discotheque near by on the weekends. It was really noisy until 2:30 am
- Na (6/5): Great Location and Staff - sleep use earplugs - Arrived late at night after a lengthy cab ride from the airport - night desk staff had little English - we were given an inside room without windows and changed this right away to a window room off the street - could not operate card keys several times and were given the actual door key - found out later (in AM) why we were given an inside room, the street noise was awful early in the morning - Ticos love using their car horns, even trucks and buses - breakfast was good - no amenities in the hotel except for a couple of exercise bikes in the corridor and a couple computers in the business center area and the restaurant with limited hours - found the staff to be very pleasant (+++for Terasa & Maria) and tried their best to meet all our needs and answer questions about San Jose and surrounding area - spent first three days here to plan our trip throughout CR - staff accommodated our use of luggage storage to minimize our weight in usage of public transit throughout CR - found this hotel to be a great location among the various transportation hubs (if you are using buses in CR, the terminals are all over the city pending where you want to go - get a map at the front desk and purchase a magnifying glass to locate the stations) - easy walk to stations or usage of taxi within $2 - recommend rms. 202 for quiet (w/o window), 313 w/window & balcony (noisy), 205 & 207 upgraded windows w/o balcony - we used this hotel for 6 additional days in our travel throughout CR - clean & safe
- victor (6/5): Good location, noisy area
Decent hotel nothing spe - Three out of four of the front desk team spoke English. Free breakfast wasn't that filling. Clean room no complaints. Hotel is in downtown San Jose. Perfect walking location to most of the famous sites.. Uber only cost 1000 to 2000 colones if you don't want to walk. But because it's downtown it can be hard to sleep at night due to noise around 5 am. So bring good earplugs. Don't walk around the area at night, I was told it was dangerous. Take an Uber. Uber to airport 5000 to 7500 colones
- Michael (8/5): - I have to say this was for me a great experience. The location is ideal the room was quiet, the bed confortable hot water breakfast was excellent the staff also very nice and helpful. The value is definitely there. I spent 5 nites and will go back on my next trip to San Jose.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Cheap Hôtel, good place to rest - Hotel is cheap and relatively good for the price you pay, central located and close to the bus terminal. While it had issues, like the shower not working properly I would stay here again for the price and location.
- A traveler (10/5): Nice hotel and nice staff - I asked for a quite room and accepted one without windows. I liked it. The hotel is at the center of the city and close to all major points of interest but it is also in the middle of a crowded place. The staff are very friendly and supportive.
- giulio (6/5): - The place is located in center of San Jose, really nosy during the night, blankets were clean but a bit old..
- Linda (8/5): Downtown Access - Just an over night to transfer out of city. Tricky access for pickup and drop off on a one way no stopping bus route. Good value for $ as suite was very modern equipped. Arrived late afternoon, was advised safe in day light for walk about.
- Shreesh (6/5): Satisfactory - its ok for business purpose
- Steven m (6/5): This place is close to everything !! - The hotel is OK it's right on the major thorough fare. The air conditioning in my room did not work. It was hotter inside my room then it was outside once I open the door. 30 cows here speak three languages Spanish English and car horn. Remember you're staying above a major thorough fare with lots of road traffic. And lots of car horns!!! And if you drive a car there is no car parking. The closest car parking spot is about two blocks away. Right next to a homeless shelter. As a combat veteran of the Iraq war, I was not scared. But I was definitely fully alert! You just have to take the appropriate precautions for where you're at. There is a heavy police presence in this part of town and in downtown San Jose! Which is really good. I was glad to see all the police down there! No real violence or major crime just a good police presence patrol, so I felt safe. But keep in mind I've seen the worst of the worst and live through the worst of the worst! With that being said, I would go back again! I can't wait to come back and visit Costa Rica again!
- Verified traveler (8/5): A good experience at a reasonable price - Location is very convenient to all central shops and the hospital.
- Kirsty (6/5): Decent room for a transit stay - A bit of a dodgey area but this hotel was very close to evrything shops sites and super close to bus stations walkable to airport bus, as well as others (I travelled from puerto jiminez). However for the price I was really dissapointed with the breakfast, it was a choice of cereal OR fruit OR hot food..not good enough.
- Barry (8/5): a safe haven - hello ,just had to leave from a nightmare hotel ,, the morazan ,, travelers beware !!!! ,,the novo hotel was available at moments notice ,convenient , and safe ,, good restaurant ,,, cool ,clean room . ask for room at quiet back of hotel,, there is a club that plays loud music till 1 am ,,so room position is crucial , teresa was a nice ,front desk , lady and caring !!!!! room was very quiet
- robert (8/5): great clean hotel in "el centro" - I live in Costa Rica so i am familiar with C.R. That being said I think this hotel is great. It is a short walk(1 block) to the bus for the airport and Hospital Mexico. Right in the middle of downtown near all museums
and shopping. After not being there in a month. The clerk at the desk(Marcella,I know I spelled her name wrong)greeted me by name and a great big smile. Again in the morning there was the smile again. The staff at breakfast were nice also. The hotel is not full of amenities but for me it is perfect. The bed seemed a little on the hard side this trip but it was clean. The breakfast could use a little extra maybe some fruit or toast and jam its pretty basic but it is included in the price.
- Raymond (8/5): Nice small hotel - Super fast check in. Friendly staff. Great breakfast. Not so sure about the neighborhood as I was there on a Sunday and everything was closed by 8pm.
- Theis (6/5): Good hotel in noisy hood - Great service, nice people very clean and cheap. However, next to a very noisy bar and parking is impossible and extremely expensive near by (48 USD pr 24 hrs). Parking is free at the end of Route 2 on the curb side of the park.
- Michelle (6/5): Great hotel for the price! - Positives: Staff was very friendly and helpful, very clean, steps to shopping and food, short walk to museums, the free wifi and breakfast were both satisfactory, good value for money.
Negatives: very basic/little amenities, noisy neighborhood (a little sketchy at night), no parking.
- Verified traveler (8/5): near the center of town - great find-- close to shopping, museums, and public transit hub-- walkable to about anywhere...
- silvia T (8/5): - Walking distance to restaurants,stores,groceries and transportation.
- abdul (8/5): Great service and bang-for-your-buck - Nice little hotel in the heart of downtown San Jose, right on the main pedestrian promenade (Avenida Primera). All shopping, restaurants, nightlife, buses, taxis, banks, etc are on that pedestrian street. The closest beach is Jaco, which is about one hour and half away. Volcanoe and rainforest also about one hour and a half away. This hotel has amazing customer service, especially Theresa at the front desk, and the lady who cleans the rooms (Marisol??). Shower had low pressure, and the shower head was broken. Rooms were cleaned thoroughly everyday. Wifi was slow, but it worked everywhere for me. Free breakfast, but not a buffet. Comfortable queen size bed. Not a fancy hotel by any means, but hard to complain when paying only $40 per night for what you get (Wifi, breakfast, queen size bed, in-room safe, flat-screen cable TV, great location, and excellent customer service). If you want a fancy hotel, you can pay over $100 per night, while I will stay here again for less than half of that.
- Crystal (10/5): Don't judge a book by it's cover - I was coming to San Jose just to submit some documents so I was only going to be in town for a couple of days(didn't need excessive luxury) but want a hotel that was going to be safe and clean. I fell in love with this hotel !!! Service was perfect the room way better than expected. My room was a good size clean and had a balcony. Free wifi and good a/c. The one thing that I didn't like is San Jose was the food very disappointed but I loved the restaurant in hotel Novo. Overall the service was spectacular.
