- timgJ547DR (2/5): Buyer Beware! - I booked with hotel because the other decent hotels in town were full. That won't happen again, I'll stay in Green Bay instead. The only good thing about this place is the front desk guy was great. The rest ends there. Several of the rooms are occupied by fulltime residents. Some to say the least were very shady. I went outside one night and found a guy passed out in the chair wearing shorts and a short sleeve shirt and it was 20 degrees out. Some of his friends must have showed up so he woke up and then proceeded to start sharpening his pocketknife. I can handle myself, but I definitely didn't feel safe at all. The hotel room was pretty gross. The showers didn't work well, not much hot water either. The carpet hadn't been vacuumed in what seemed like months. The furniture in the room was destroyed, and you couldn't sit on any of them. The hotel overall had a weird smell to it. If you're coming to Shawano, I recommend staying someplace else. You'll be happy you did!
- domenicaf651 (2/5): HORRIBLE - What was this hotel. Seriously. We stayed October 17th-October 19th and what an awful choice. First of all the room was COVERED in bugs.... the carpets haven't been vacuumed since the 90s, and I had to clean the entire room as everything was pitch black. The chair in our room was broken, the shower was covered in mold, the sheets abs blankets were filthy, mind you when we got there, there wasn't any toilet paper in our room or towels. When we asked for some (even showing a image to them) they huffed about it. ALSO the fan in the bathroom was missing a cover and it was COVERED in mold, dust and debris. We checked out at 7:20am cause i couldn't handle another moment there. When i asked for a refund or at least a discount the lady legit just starred at me the whole time. I showed her photos of our room and she said nothing...she wouldnt stop staring at us like a lost dog. I HATE this place. I cant believe its allowed to even stay open. 0/10 but I HAD to give 1 star to review.

- Lori (6/5): - The owners children were yelling and out of control. Not really the place for them if they cannot be quiet. The furniture is starting to show it's age. Time for an upgrade. When we went to breakfast there was one egg, one sausage, brown bananas and an empty fridge. We ended up at I Hop. Pretty disappointing. Cheap price though.

The only complaints we had was that breakfast was not out on time and since we were there for work, we had to keep to a schedule. The only other thing was that one of our rooms had food in the fridge when we arrived and the other had a dirty toilet and an old rag in the shower. Otherwise, for the price and availability it was great.

- Angela d (4/5): - When you first pull in the parking lot it is beautiful outdoor setting are you going inside to check in you have to call for service and even checking out you have to call for service then you're told just to drop the key in the bucket not very customer friendly. Get up to our room there's candy on the floor so I'm going to suggest they didn't vacuum smells like smoke and up until 9:00 there were children running laps up and down the steps so quiet was not happening not very with this hotel

- William (4/5): Needs an update on the complex. - Room had a band aid on the floor. Bed was uncomfortable. The outside light shined in our window because the curtains didn’t cover properly. The toilet was too short and small for adults. It was difficult to turn tv on and off, so I just left it on. The room keys had to be swiped multiple times to enter. Food for breakfast was inadequate.

- LaKeisha (2/5): - The actual hotel is outdated and could definitely use an update.. The hotel room itself was so dirty and musty that I had to go through and clean the room myself (former housekeeper), because I knew the hotel was completely booked out for the weekend. I paid almost $300 for two nights, wasn’t able to check in early and almost had my reservation cancelled. There were literal scratches on the doors and furniture and there was a white substance on the bedside tables and the bed that I had to buy cleaning supplies to clean. Why am I waiting all day to check in to a hotel if the housekeepers aren’t actually cleaning the room, all they did was make the bed (I’m hoping the bedsheets were clean and switched out!) and add new towels. AND THE BATHROOM, was disgusting. The fact that I had to clean the WHOLE hotel room is ridiculous! If this is what Haven hotel is going to be like we will never be back and I will make it a point to tell others to steer clear of Haven Hotel. THE ONLY good thing about Haven Hotel is the location, which has nothing to do with what the actual hotel is doing.

- Shane (6/5): - The following describes all aspects of our stay: First impression was quality and cleanliness. However, upon further review and a closer look, shabby, "just good enough" and only fix/upgrade if broken beyond repair. The room we stayed in had crayon lines on the wall; old, barely working microwave; tattered curtains; Jacuzzi tub spit brown globs while we tried to fill it; toilet flush handle seemed "cemented" as we had to apply excessive force to push it down. I could write a similar assessment of the breakfast, exterior, pool out of service, etc. Thankfully, cost reflected what our expectations should have been, so we didn't get too bent out of shape over any of the deficiencies...it WAS a last minute cheaply planned weekend trek.
- Megan (6/5): - I wanted to have high hopes as I’ve stayed at the same location with a previous owner and enjoyed my stay. However this stay I had a few things I’d like to make sure others are aware there’s is only waffles on Saturday and Sunday…On Saturday the waffle mix was so watery I couldn’t even make it. Sunday the mix was much better but there were not eggs and sausage on Sunday. The beds were super uncomfortable and I found food wrappers in the drawer by my bed obviously not cleaned properly from previous guest. My bath tub did not drain at all and I was only taking a shower, the shower drain it’s self was covered in green buildup and when I tried to shower in filled up to my shins before I could rinse my soap off. The AC unit didn’t work luckily the window opened and the weather was cooler. The new owner seems nice just needs to be updated and have more love/care involved to make it more homey for guests.

When I checked into my room, the lady at the front desk tried to charge me again for my room after I already paid through hotels.com. She stated that the only thing I paid for was fees! I fought it because I know how booking through these apps work. Then we get room #102. It was so nasty! The heat didn’t work, we at it set at 90! The shower/tub needs to be replaced or atleast caulked. Brown stuff on the walls, dust was about 3in thick. Stains all over the curtains. List goes on. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. I am hoping I walk away with no bed bugs!

- Verified traveler (10/5): Good place to rest - We needed a place to stay for the weekend while attending at the local race track. Spent the majority of time at the track, so I can’t comment too much on the amenities. But overall, the room was clean and had what we needed.
- Rene (4/5): - Called down to desk to get an extra blanket. The clerk was very rude started asking how many people in the room, I told her 4 .she checked us in so she knew. Then I asked why she said for security. I told her I gave her my id when we checked in. She was talking to someone in the background. She told me I could just leave. I have never treated this rudely. Not enough space for whole story.
- hollywG284LG (2/5): Do yourself a favor and stay away - Hotel is pretty tired and sad and the rooms are mediocre clean at best. We checked in at 930 on a Saturday night in July and had a nice conversation with the lady working the front desk. As we walked upstairs to our room, my husband asked "do you smell that?" The smell of pot was overwhelming. We went to our room, showered and went to bed. 11:00 we woke up to the phone ringing and someone pounding on our door. My husband got up and three police officers were there, saying there was a report we were smoking pot in our room. They took one step in our room, apologized and left. Not sure why we (two 50 year old's who had talked to the lady at check-in) were pegged as pot smokers when the place reeked to high heaven when we arrived 1.5 hours earlier. The next morning we were in the parking lot letting our dog - who slept in his kennel, in the car - out and people were smuggling their dogs in and out the side door of the hotel. Did not think the hotel allowed pets. As we looked back at the hotel it was pretty obvious by the amount of decor in the windows of the main floor rooms that people are living in the hotel full time. Another turn off. Had I noticed that the night before I would have tried to change hotels.
- Mark (2/5): - the place was out dated the air condition was push button and thur night my room had gotten warm . no pool so out dated and they had no idea when they would ever updated the place wasnt worth stay . was a really nice car event there close ' people all over the us but not a enough nice hotels for sure in area. the breakfast wasnt great . this is not great at all . too many nice hotels at there and this wasnt it . i would like my money put bake on my card for sure. mark scherbaum
- Deborah (8/5): - The pool was down for maintenance while we were there. They do not have an elevator. This wasn't a big problem for us since we have no problem with stairs, but I was glad we didn't have much luggage. The bathroom faucet had reduced water flow which kinda sprayed sideways. I tried to clean it the aerator but couldn't.
- Dan (4/5): - The motel needs serious updating. Paint is chipped, room smelled musty, air did not work properly, very limited space for the breakfast, swimming pool was closed, (which we found out has been since 2020.) Traveled with a group and no one was happy with the accommodations.
- Camper97119 (4/5): Allergic to Cats - Beware of this Place - Property Needs Major Updating - The hallways smelled of cat litter boxes. If you're allergic to cats, beware ... Awful! Rooms were dark with poor lighting. In need of outlets on nightstands for CPAPs and phone charging. Shower water pressure was great, but the shower and curtain were old and in need of updating. I know the choices of lodging in Shawano is limited, but you may want to try another location until management decides to give this place an upgrade!
- steven (4/5): - I would not call this facility Quality at all. Carpets were filthy. trash and food under edge of bed on floor. Bath tub had rusty fittings. Bed comforter was dirty. Wanted $50 to check in 30 minutes early. I was not the only one with issues. A customer of mine refused to stay for two nights and found another hotel and he was charged $100 to leave. Ridiculous!!

Side door could not be opened from the outside. Why Quality Inn has allowed this to be part of their chain is surprising. Planned to stay 3 nights but left after 1 night. Horrible hotel.

The carpet in halls appeared to be stained at one part and then cleaned with bleach causing bleach marks. My room had an unpleasant smell, large red stain by door and the AC stopped working on our last night. The pool was “under construction” and closed.

- Shawna (4/5): - Seemed to be very disorganized, took sometime to actually check in, and finally was given the keys got to the room, the door was open, looked inside and to find it completely dirty and used like someone was still using the room, go back to the desk, explained that the room was either occupied or hasnt been cleaned, just looked at me like i had two heads and was arguing with someone else behind the desk stating that room should have been on the sheet ect... and proceed to go through the list to make sure the job was done, meanwhile i just want to go to the room and get settled, took another half hour or so finally she sends someone up to the other room to make sure it was clean before we got up there, and says good good....finally got into the "clean" room at furst glance it was 100 times better than the other but as getting settled in, found tons of black hair everywhere, the shower curtain was a very dark brown along the bottom of it, found dead bugs by the coffee maker, drawings in the desk drawer and in the binder...the pool is out of service, wish was told apon check in or would have went somewhere else...glad it was for one night!! Never again thanks but not thanks

- Kristine (4/5): - Hotel will charge and additional $50 to check in 15 minutes early, no cable, only 3 local channels, complained to staff and they stated they would have to call the cable company on Monday. Would not move us to a room that had cable. Had to walk down to the front desk to get TP as they only had the half roll on.

- Geraldine (4/5): - I specifically booked a room here because it offered a king bed at a good price. Upon checking in; I was given a room with 2 queens instead. No king was available or even existed. Very disappointed. Room was musty smelling & the in-room coffee maker was covered in dust. Breakfast was very limited. Pool was out of commission and has been for over 2 years. This is the second place in this same town that I will not stay again. Booking agencies & hotel owners/managers must do better.
- Keith (2/5): Don't stay here - There was nothing posted on website that the pool and whirlpool were down. When I got to my room it was unlocked. The cable did not work during the full stay. And I don't know if they didn't clean the toilet or if the cable guy took a deuce in the room but they left evidence.
- Suzanne (2/5): - Arrived at 12:30 pm. No one was there to register a check in. Maintenance person told us to come back after 1. Came back and was told that there was a $15 early fee. Didn’t want to pay it. She told us we could put our things in the room and finish checking in when we got back from our wedding. She took my credit card info and gave us keys. When we came back late at night to finish the checkin, we were told that we had to have a $50 cash deposit. It could not be on the card. We don’t carry much cash. She crossed her arms, stood at the counter and stared at us. We gathered our bags and left. None of these extra fees are mentioned in any reservation process. Very unprofessional staff and property. It’s no wonder there were only 2 cars in the parking lot during early summer in a high traffic tourist destination
- bonhamWI (4/5): Shopworn Lodging - My wife and I have stayed in numerous Choice Hotels through the years. None has been like the Shawano, Wisconsin Quality Inn. Regardless of the sign on the motel I have one question. Is the Shawano Quality Inn still a franchised Choice Hotel? In a word the place inside and out shows signs of being "Shopworn." Upon check-in I learned the printer was not working. I was handed a small piece of blank note paper and told to write the make and model of our car. Check-in time was 3 PM. We attempted to check-in at 1 PM and were shown a handwritten paper highlighted in pink noting a $50 fee for early check-in. I have never witnessed an early check-in fee before. The room had a desk but no desk chair. The person who caulked the tub base in the bathroom appears to have just smeared gray caulk on the white tub side about the floor rather than cleaning up the mess properly. The toilet was extremely low, and the shower had no grab bars. Everything about the place seemed to show a lack of upkeep. The breakfast was okay with a hot egg dish plus bacon, and the staff was friendly. The cost was reasonable, but no way will we return.

- Verified traveler (4/5): Spend a little more to stay somewhere else. - There were 3 people working at the check-in desk but were only helping one person at a time. There were 5 guests in line for check-in. Attendants were having inappropriate personal conversations amongst themselves and did not welcome or thank any guests at check-in. The room was poorly cleaned and poorly maintained.

A management and even ownership change could turn this place around if done soon enough before property further decays and/or staff departs.
- dawnsY7632BQ (2/5): Poor experience - The pool wasn't open and I was told it's in the process of being worked in for 2 yrs. Room above us was load all night both nights and front desk didn't seem to care. No soap in the room and had to request some. Ice maker didn't work and had to get ice from front desk. Room was clean but shower stained and bad patch and paint job above shower. On the outside there was definitely things needed to be done including missing shingles and siding laying on the ground. In rough shape. Staff was friendly but not very professional and lack of timely attention.
- Kattie (2/5): - We had arrived to our destinationan hour earlier than what we planned. We decided to check-in to our hotel and get all settled in before we went out on the town to look around. When we walked into the hotel, it had a very thick smell of smoke and a spray that was trying to cover that up. The staff was no where to be found. A girl finally yelled from the back, "be right there, I need to put my kid down". The girl came out and first thing she told us was it would be $50 to check-in before 3pm. Not even a hello, welcome etc. We said we would come back in a hour. She said good thing because she didnt know how to check us in. We came back an hour and a half later to check in. The manager was there, her daughter, granddaughter and new employee. They were tkand laughing and not paying attention to the customers. While i understood as a new employee she needed help, it was not the time to be discussing what they were doing that night (outside of work) and the next day. She was not focused on checking us in which in return took us a long time to get checked in. There was no soap to wash our hands in our room and we were told oh well. Checkout was just as bad. Our room was so terribly dirty. There was what looked like blood or pasta sauce all down the wall. We will never stay here again.
- Dawn (4/5): Poor experience - The overall experience wasnt good. Pool hasnt been working in 2 year, loud people upstairs walking around right above us who i believe work and live in that room. Many not great things and front desk didnt seem to really care about the noise above my room. Poor customer experience and hotel not in great condition.
- Todd (6/5): Adequate - Mundane. Well worn, pool not working. 2 tables in breakfast area for the whole hotel. Stained hallway carpets. Drain in tub was plugged. Needs updating. I was motorcycle traveling, alone, so I just wanted a warm comfortable bed at decent price. That it did provide. If alone, I would stay again. If not, I would not stay.

- Verified traveler (2/5): Room 128 - Where should I start? To say that we were less than impressed is an understatement. Busy check in time and overcrowded. People had confirmation numbers and weren’t even given a room. We got a room that was dirty and when we asked the front desk about it, they said the previous customers were arrested and went to jail. So all of their stuff was still in the room. We said our room was dirty and they said it was the only room they had available. The “customer service” receptionist never apologized for the inconvenience. You could really tell that he enjoyed his job…. We ended up driving 3.5 hours home instead of staying. The hotel refunded us our money but didn't offer anything else for their mistake. We will not be staying here again and I honestly hope everyone else takes their business elsewhere! This cannot be the new norm and just be considered acceptable.
- 788terryd (2/5): Don’t go there - I made a reservation through choice hotel web site for 2 nights. I arrived to find the pool is not full. When I talked to the front desk clerk I was told I should have been notified that the pool wasn’t working… I was not notified. I was charged regular price. The next day the front desk clerk was going to let the manager know I wasn’t notified about the pool and that I was unhappy. I was told the pool has been down for months. The next day the front desk clerk told me the pictures of the pool have been taken off the web site. Amenities still say there is a pool…. Really?? The door key did not work in the side door and my room only had 1 bar of soap. I would not recommend this hotel. They really have a lot of updating to do and the cost does not justify the hassles I experienced.

The entry cards did not work, and a staff member had to let us into our room every time we left it. The ice machine had a sign warning not to use it as it might cause a fire. Although there was supposed to be at least a basic breakfast, there was none. Also the receptionist could not direct us to Main Street.

Nothing was stated in advance that these ammenities were closed. Also, the inside of the shower curtain was full of mildew. Room 210
- Adrianne (2/5): - Terrible! Don't let the outside fool you. They hotel's key system wasn't work - talk about unsafe! The nighttime manager had you escort you to and from the room to access it. The manager had cracked the door open while we got our bags from our car - someone could have easily gotten into our room. The room was extremely unclean, I didnt even take my shoes off the entire time. The bathroom was falling apart and the bed had crumbs in it. The next morning at "breakfast" the milk was modly! Stay FAR FAR AWAY, worst hotel experience of my life!

The worker looked like a biker wearing a leather jacket and jeans. Not professional at all. Walking in our room there was debris on the floor. Clearly not vacuumed. Giant spider web on the curtain. Fan/ AC unit was filthy. Made us severely question if we should just sleep in our car. A hand written note thumb tacked in the bathroom said we couldn’t turn off the bathroom light. Overall felt very unclean and unsafe very run down property. Very unsatisfied with our stay.
- travelinman615 (2/5): STAY AWAY!!!! - Upon arrival, no guess were given keys to their individual room. The man working behind the desk had to walk each guest to their room and use his key to open each door. Apparently the key pads were not working on the doors. In my opinion, this is a HUGE security problem. There was a note at the desk that the pool was not working as it was down for maintenance. It was apparent that the room was not clean throughly as there accumulated dust on the nightstand by the lamp, someone's hair by the light switch on the night stand. We booked for 2 nights, we left early after the 1st night. Overall, I would NOT recommend this place to anyone!!! Stay Away!

- Joe (2/5): - Exactly my matter is that this property deceived me. They initially excepted a reservation from hotels.com. At some point following that, they chose to unilaterally cancel the reservation without informing me. When I tried to confirm the fact that I had a reservation two days before arriving, they denied that I had a reservation and insisted that it had been canceled by me. I never canceled it, and I believe that they are completely dishonest and should be avoided by Hotels.com in the future

From someone trying their key in our door in the middle of the night which scared the crap out of us to a young child roaming around shirtless with matches the next. It was a place to sleep that’s about it. Room and bathroom was clean enough but rest of hotel I felt was not. Strong smell of what we think is mold. No water in pool which is not advertised or made known. Workers we interacted with were friendly, though I would not stay again.
- Nicole (4/5): - The property is in need of repairs from leaking ceilings to stained carpet to holes in walls, trim coming off on doors etc. the upside is the beds are comfortable and our room was quiet.
- WangVerona (2/5): Needs an upgrade! - This place is in serious need of an upgrade! Dirty carpets, torn drapes, tattered throw pillows. Ice machines were broken. Pool “down for maintenance.” This is such a beautiful area to visit. Such a shame these accommodations are so sub par. Would love to come again but would definitely find a different place to stay!
