Guest Reviews
- Kenneth (10/5): - I've stayed there many times before and everything was fine. This time there was construction noise before 7am. I'm sure that many things will be new or improved, so in the future it will be back to a really good place to stay.
- Andrew Paul (10/5): - Nice location
- Scott (2/5): - Hotel was under renovation. Room smelled paint and spackle. Air conditioner was pretty beat up. It didn’t really work that well. Bathtub still had a sticker in it. No chair. TV didn’t work. Rough Neighborhood. Mattress had plastic on it underneath the sheets. I could go on…
- Jackie (4/5): - Hotel was tired and room was dirty. Carpet dirty, sink cracked, TV picture not great. Curtains weren't hung properly.
- Janet (6/5): Ok - Ok location, partially- renovated room, only one set of towels, no hair-dryer
- Kenneth (6/5): - Staff have been getting pushier, sometimes requiring more money than booking, and placing guest in rooms without amenities.
- Keonte (10/5): - It’s nice and laid back
- Willow (10/5): - The people I met their were very friendly:)
- Joseph (6/5): - It is what it is
- Hannah (2/5): - Sketchy, sketchy place. How bad was it? My wife and son pulled in to the hotel, and she immediately called me to let me know that she was NOT staying there. I agree...I wouldn't have felt comfortable myself there. She found a wonderful stay at the Holiday Inn for the same price. Tourway Inn is a dump.
- Gregory (2/5): - Cleaner rooms, fresh bedsheets, sanitized bathrooms.
- Porsha (4/5): - Need pest control for roaches
- Maque (6/5): - they are under construction give it a couple months the rates might go up
- Jesse (2/5): - Nasty dirty felt uneasy and uncomfortable and for 80$ definitely not worth it
- Matthew (10/5): - It was okay
- Karen (4/5): Do not recommend - The room was ok. Had to check-in from a little window outside with bulletproof glass. It is in a rough part of town, and you better take all your belongings inside with you every day. I had to request new towels and wash cloth; they were not provided after the 1st night.
- Corey (8/5): - Place was clean. Bed surprisingly comfortable. Pillows comfortable. AC gets extremely cold. The mini fridge freezers quickly.
- Ary (8/5): - Everything was good for my stay. The only problem I had was that my card to unlock the door stopped working so I had to have the worker let me in for the rest of the stay.
- George (8/5): - Give this place 6 months and it will go from good to better. They are renovating and it will be a very good motel when they are done. Small improvements like bath mats, fitted sheets, tissue boxes, and more electronic charging options would greatly improve things.
- Kenneth (8/5): - Price had gone up since last month. Agents weren’t as friendly as last visit.
- Hattie (8/5): - It was ok it was cheap when I was hunting for a motel in a hurry
- Ronald (8/5): Comfortable Rest Stop in Birmingham - The Tourway is conveniently located near the Amtrak station & the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute. Check-in was simple, & my room, though showing some signs of aging, was comfortable. In sum, the Tourway is a good value for a solo traveler who wants a simple, convenient rest stop on a longer journey.
- Zulema (2/5): - Did not look safe at all
- Lauren (4/5): - Felt very unsafe, particularly with all the random men wondering around the carpark, not guests, who also are there when you check in through the window- would have preferred to be able to go into reception.
Filthy walls, dirty fridge, location isn’t near anything.
Bed was comfy enough
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Was nice and clean, did not have a coffee pot but everything else was good
- Antoine (10/5): - Lovely place
- Andrea (2/5): - Checked out of Motel because of illicit activities going on at the Motelsite. Due to these reasons we did not stay and my money was not returned. Will never book a room at the Tourway Inn while staying in Birmingham. Highly disappointed.

- FNU (10/5): - Nice place
- Kenneth (10/5): - The room was larger than usual, even the mini fridge wasn’t mini. The room was clean with all the amenities!
- MARY (6/5): - .
- Damian (10/5): - LINEN
- Erin (2/5): - There was hair in the sink and on the floor. The sheets were stained and had holes in them. The room smelled musty. Outside there were groups driving through the lot revving their engines and yelling at others.
- Carl (2/5): - I rented a room here at the advice of Expedia, it was on your website to rent a room in Birmingham. So filthy, cockroaches, bugs. Police responding to calls in the area. It’s ruined my confidence in choosing a hotel/motel listed on Expedia.
- Mary (6/5): - Wi-Fi is not working and restaurants are not nearby.
- Warren (8/5): If your picky… - Over all the stay was good. I’m not a picky person with hotels/motels/inns.
The are was easy to get too. Check in was quick and easy. Host was nice.
However, Lots of dead bugs under the beds and in some drawers, didn’t see any live ones which was good.
- Jose K. (6/5): - There is not much to write about this hotel. It is an old, outdated hotel still in business. It is a cheap hotel if you are looking for a bargain or in a tight budget. Do not expect to be wowed when you check in at the hotel or when you see your room. Everything in the room are all outdated furniture. One thing I could say about the room I stayed in, it was decent for a night stay. It is basically an 'OK' hotel...
- Ryan (8/5): - Some of the light fixtures did not work and the sink dripped constantly because of some issue with the knobs--the hot water knob spun both ways and the zero point was impossible to find. Overall, served me well enough for the one night I was there and was reasonably priced.
- Peyton (6/5): Ehhh. Not the best. - The table was questionably sticky, and I had to kill a couple of roaches in the two nights I stayed.
- Mercedes (4/5): - Rooms were very run down and needed a lot of work but it had everything we needed at the time.
- Antonio (2/5): - The room was alright with a few cons. First, the shower knob was broke. Two, there was an old cup of coffee in the microwave and all in the microwave. Three, there was no tissue in the room. Four, the tv was messed up. And five, the sink counter was dirty
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Hotel was rundown and in a bad part of town.
- Annette (4/5): - Over charge me for the room I paid for 2queen beds got double beds said something when I checked out asked him to credit back my account but haven’t seen anything yet
- Gerald T (10/5): - Good clean older property hot water no bugs inexpensive, we went for 1 night for ball game it worked well for us. No problems.
- Lyna (8/5): - Great service, very lively and professional. It’s an experience and I very much enjoyed the food.
- Jeffrey (10/5): - This is a very good (clean and comfortable) motel and the parking is probably the most secure in town. . . . I had a car full of stuff and, based on reviewers comments, none of the major hotels' parking inspires confidence. At Tourway the parking lot is well lit and has a fence that doesn't completely enclose but is enough to prevent people from casually walking through. And you can park right in front of the window of your room. And it's a good motel -- I recommend it wholeheartedly.
- Khadejah (10/5): - No issues
- Harold (10/5): - The staff was very friendly
- Khadejah (10/5): - Good for me
- Kenneth (10/5): - Room was clean. Very close to freeway on ramp. Very friendly staff. Everything worked in room. In the old downtown area.
- Tammy (2/5): Never Again!! - This place needs to be torn down! It is filthy. I found a empty beer can in the room. The lights barely worked, and the walls had holes in them. The place is definitely not worth the price they are charging. I did not even rest due to ourside activities.
- Patrick (2/5): - All the furniture is second hand. The fridge was full of food but turned off. Mold on the bathroom cieling. Just overall dirty
- Kary (8/5): Pretty good! Great value - Three bibles in the room... but no towels! Kinda funny, really.
- Ashley (8/5): Affordable - We were only in the room to shower and sleep. It was just fine for that. If we needed anything, the hotel staff were very nice and helpful.
- Anne (4/5): - There is no lobby. Check-in is via a kiosk window. The lobby is perpetually locked. We booked a room with a double bed and got one with a king bed. It was so late that I didn’t ask to change as that would make getting to bed take even longer. The linens were clean but threadbare. There used to be a pool but it’s been filled with concrete. The biggest negative was that in the morning, my 10yo found a bullet casing in the parking lot. The area around the hotel is pretty run down. It’s next to the interstate and leaving we saw numerous homeless people camped out under the underpass. We were fairly aggressively panhandled a few blocks away near the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute. I definitely would not stay again. There hotel alone is mediocre but ok. The bullet in the parking lot and aggressive panhandling made me feel too unsafe to ever return.
- Kimberly (2/5): - Roaches, It's a dump house in downtown area . Please do not stay here. Expedia get them off your list.
- Havana (10/5): - Convenient
- Austin (8/5): - Check in was good. But some off the outlets were out off the wall were the wires were showing. And my tv didn’t work and it took two days for staff to get to it. And that’s after bring it up with them more then 3 times
- jonathan (6/5): - Old and smelly
- Havana (10/5): - Ok
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I did not stay, due to the environment and the upkeep of the facility. The place was rundown and appeared to be roach infested. I would not recommend to anyone even though they just require one night.
- Angela (2/5): - My room was entered I had paid no one was ask to come my things was in the trash some things were stolen
- Audrey (6/5): - Little expensive for the condition of the room. No remote for the tv, a used towel still hanging on the back of the bathroom door, and a place by the bed that looked like a hole had been punched in the wall.
- Jeffrey (10/5): - Excellent service and conveniently located around many of my frequently visited areas in Birmingham
.
- Angela (2/5): - They came into my room throwing my things away and I had things missing
- Donna (6/5): - Needs a lot of work. The paint in the bath tub was flaking off. My allergies acted up because of the over use of air freshener. But for the price and we only stayed one night it was ok.
- Angela (10/5): - Not good parking late night on weekend I love this property
- Kay (10/5): - The owner was so nice and was so helpful on twlling me.how to get to childrens hospital and stores
- Tira (8/5): - I booked this place because it was walking distance to all the activities that I had planned for myself. It’s not a fancy place, just somewhere to sleep and that’s really the only time I was there.
- Anthony (10/5): - Hotel was very clean, customer service was great, and check in and out was quick and easy. Was nice having microwave and fridge in the room. Area felt safe, and parking lot was well lit. I was in town for a concert at the Legacy Arena, and it was a quick uber ride there and back. Would have been easily walkable also. Hotel is a little dated, and could use some freshining up. But was perfect for an overnight stay for the concert.
- Tacoya (8/5): - Good
- Tom (6/5): - The room was pleasant, but there were stains on the pillowcase and an unexplainable large wet spot on the carpet. The property was quiet, and I felt safe during the stay. My biggest complaint is the bed has the hardest, most unforgiving mattress I have ever encountered. If you plan on staying here, start practicing two days before your arrival by sleeping on your kitchen table.
- Joan (8/5): - Decent room with a great price.
- George (10/5): - Was doubtful when I saw the neighborhood, but the facility was clean, quiet and SAFE. And a good deal for the price - less that 10 minutes from the convention center, as well.
- Susan (10/5): My time here at Tourway Inn - Im still here. Im paying per day. Its expensive but im in the process of seeking permanent lodgings . Tourway inn is walking distance to my job. Its clean quiet and i must say worth the money
- Edward (10/5): Very clean - In town for a football game. Very clean, would stay again
- Diane (2/5): - It was 37 degrees and I had ro verify my reservation outside not indoors where the receptionist was.
The first toom assigned yo me was room 129. It was a terrible room with smoke smellsl and No suitable amenities and the tub had a rusting spot. When I requested another room they sent me to room 120. It had the smell of exterminating gas, but I was so tried I fell asleep with my covid mask on. The morning I found a dead cockroach in the refrigerator.
I told that to the manager but he did not compensate me and I trued calling Hotels.com but no representative came on the line.
- Mary (8/5): - This property was affordable. The bed was excellent and very no noise in the area. Great for an quick overnight. The host at check in was competent and friendly.
- Pierce (10/5): - It was great!
- Kenneth (10/5): - The area isn't very nice but is safe. The rooms are clean, the staff are nice, the cost is very reasonable, and it's quiet.
- Abubakar (10/5): - It was a great stay.
- Tyler (10/5): - Loved it!!
- Zachary (4/5): - Two lights didnt work and the microwave didn't.
- Jesus (2/5): - Bedding has holes and stains, can feel dust on floor
- Davinder (10/5): - I liked the cleanliness and service at this property most
- Issac (10/5): - Continental breakfast would be a great idea. However the stay was very nice. The room was very clean.
- Sheryl (8/5): Clean but needs maintenance - We stayed at Tourway Inn for two nights, while we did touristy things in Birmingham. It provided us with a clean and quiet stay. The staff is wonderful. However, this property needs lots of work--electrical outlets in functional places, bedding that fits the mattress, some sort of towel bar in the bathroom (besides inside the shower), a blanket on the bed, etc. None of these issues were more than annoyances to us, however, and we were grateful for the low price. We'd probably return if back in Birmingham.
- Stephen (6/5): ok for a night - floor had not been cleaned for awhile. Was overall ok - nothing special - if i return to Birmingham I think i will find another place
- Eden (2/5): Dirty Stop - I'm not sure how it is up to code. It smells like mildew and has cracks in the walls, etc.
- Saretha (4/5): - When we were getting off the exit driving to the hotel it is in a bad neighborhood there were homeless people sitting on the ground, pushing buggy’s down the street. So we didn’t stay and plus they had no power that day.
- Shannon (8/5): Amazing customer service - Area was kind of run down, the hotel needs some TLC, staff is AMAZING!!!
- Ingrid (10/5): - The staff were lovely. We walked to the gas station and was a homeless camp under the overpass that kinda took us by surprise. Other than that everything was great.
- patricia (10/5): - Wonderful and friendly staff. A fridge that kept my drinks cold . A clean and comfy room. Ill stay here again when in the area
- Brian (2/5): Last did not clean smelly - Terrible bad nasty had to bring my own covers at to leave early. I want to refund terrible service
- Crystal (2/5): - The room was unsanitary, dirty, and over priced. I would never stay there again.
- Iuliia (8/5): - The motel is good and very nice option for a night stay. Friendly staff on reception. Room was clean, a/c was loud. Area in around not very nice, though it is close to downtown.
- Lorraine (8/5): Good for the money. - Great, no frills clean hotel. Right off 65. If you're coming for a concert, take an Uber. Lot of construction going on downtown on the one-way streets. Grocery store and fast food about 5 minutes away.
- Mary (8/5): - The rooms are very reasonable and not real far from UAB/Childrens not walking distance. But just a short distance driving. It was after hours when we checked in so I’m sure a lot different than daytime. Not enough pillows but the Bed (King Size) was very comfortable. We rested well. It was very quite. 55 inch TV. Free WiFi. Our room was a smoking Room so we really enjoyed that is a rare occurrence this day and time. So glad it’s offered. Bottom Line enjoyed my stay and will stay again!
- Daniel (10/5): - The motel is sparse, but clean, and the owner very nice. We let him know the TV was not working, and it was immediately fixed. There are no unnecessary frills to pay for. I was in town for an art show, and all we wanted was a clean place to sleep, the Tourway provides that. If you need coffee in the morning, you may want to bring a coffee maker, there is a nearby gas station that also has coffee.
- Cassandra (2/5): - Never checked in, because they had a MATTRESS OUTSIDE A UNIT! Owners said, “it was wet from a child spilling water.” Yea, right! Broad day light! They refused to assist me with canceling and Expedia was no help either.
- stephanie (10/5): Concert stay - Perfect inexpensive place to stay if going to a concert at the BJCC. Check in was very pleasant and friendly. Only 2 suggestions, get new beds, they are very hard and my back was hurting from it the next day. Second, a snack and a soda machine next to the ice machine. There aren't any gas stations/restaurants nearby. Being able to get a small snack at any hour would be nice and also profitable I am sure.
