- Gina (9/5): -
- Nicola (9/5): - Staff were very friendly. Great old hotel that has been tastefully modernized. Scrumptious breakfast cooked to perfection.
- DAVID (9/5): -
- Dan (10/5): - Lovely old building with creaky staircase, wonky floors and some low beams. Very comfortable bed. Lovely staff, good breakfast and snug bar with good beer.
- Morris (10/5): A really lovely stay — great weather, great company, and wonderfully friendly Welsh people. - I loved everything about my stay. The food was excellent, the staff were friendly and attentive, the room was spotless and comfortable, and the location was perfect. A really enjoyable experience from start to finish. The only downside to our stay was the strict 11pm return policy. We found a lovely pub nearby and ended up chatting with the landlady, who invited us to stay for a late drink. When we returned slightly after 11pm, the staff member on duty was clearly not impressed, which did put a bit of a dampener on the evening. It would really improve the guest experience if the hotel reviewed its security arrangements so guests can come and go more freely — after all, being able to relax and enjoy your time out is part of what makes a holiday enjoyable.
- Janet (9/5): Very central location with ample parking in the free lot. A friendly, service oriented team. - Sasha was so kind to change our room
after realizing we inadvertently booked a twin bed room. It’s is a very historic Inn and we appreciated the sloped floors, low ceilings etc.
- Liam (10/5): Perfect. Food, comfort, staff and value. - Character, charm, comfort and great staff. Great location and my favourite beer on tap (Butty Bach) Nothing.
- Helen (10/5): Really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back! - Great location, lovely rooms, good food in the restaurant and the staff are so lovely.
- Aidan (10/5): Very nice welcoming and accommodating staff - Central and full of history Nothing
- Mark (1/5): A real disappointment after all my fabulous stays here. - I have stayed at this property on numerous occasions, it has always been a good experience. This was not. A real “ computer says no” experience. I got the impression that the place was in a post bank holiday malaise. The atmosphere was not a positive one, or conducive to a stay.
The sink in my room was blocked, and almost overflowed. I mentioned this to the reception staff who stated “ this is an old building, and it was probably a blockage “. My knowledge of plumbing is minimal but , not that bad. An explanation was then given on how to unblock it with some sort of contraption at the back of the sink. It was also made clear that I had to be back at the hotel for 23.00 hrs as there were no reception staff available . I am sure that the signing in material stated 23.30 hrs. I was due to go out for a late dinner at a friends house so cancelled it.
This is the first time I have encountered such a negative stay at this hotel, and was sorely disappointed. I booked out and went home .
- Janine (10/5): Wonderful stay, all staff were so lovely and welcoming, breakfast was excellent - Beautiful old building, lots of character

- Ian (10/5): Great Stay -Thanks - Extremely helpful and friendly staff made us feel most welcome.
Lovely full breakfast. We didn’t mind at all, but was noticeable noise emanating from the small courtyard. Given it was a bank holiday with a festival going on, was to be expected. However, stopped at 10.30pm and didn’t cause us any problem.
- Mandy (10/5): Lovely hotel - Great location, comfortable rooms, welcoming staff, very good breakfast.
- Adrian (10/5): -
- James (9/5): -
- John (8/5): Comfortable and easy - Staff, location, historical building, breakfast Nothing
- David (8/5): Really lovely pub/hotel with a cosy feel - Breakfast was excellent Nothing
- Andrew (10/5): - Great location, loved the character of the old building and the staff were excellent along with the breakfast and the evening meal we enjoyed while staying

- Jim (7/5): Nice hotel, good room and a good bar. - Good room but difficult stairs to reach it. Position of hotel is very good Restaurant was closed and limited access to the property late at night.
- Beverley (9/5): -

- Tom (10/5): Superb, highly recommended. - A lovely place to visit, the staff are very helpful and friendly. Nothing was a problem for them. The room was very comfortable and the food was delicious. I look forward to my next stay. If you turn up in the afternoon, you'll have to pay for parking up to 6pm until 8am. But other than that, it's a very good place to stay.
- Sandra (10/5): Great break away - Great hotel in a central location Nothing
- Stephen (10/5): -
- andrew (8/5): -
- David (9/5): -
- Emma (8/5): -
- Phoebe (9/5): Lovely and would definitely recommend😁 - Evening meal and breakfast was fab, staff were super nice and helpful, lovely vibe and feel to the whole place, and quirky charm of an old building but with crafted modern upgrades and influences. Would definitely recommend. Nothing apart from not being able to stay another night…
- Elizabeth (8/5): -
- Sandra (10/5): - Central location, lovely old hotel, nice food, excellent staff.
- David (8/5): -
- Gareth (10/5): Great stay in a characterful building - Beautiful building, lovely rooms, friendly staff
- Voorburg (10/5): Heerlijke herberg met vriendelijk personeel - Prachtig plekje Eigenlijk alles, we komen graag nog een keer terug
- Susan (8/5): -
- DJW25 (8/5): Very comfortable stay in centrally located room - A super delicious breakfast that was well cooked with fresh apple juice and a good size pot of tea. Small improvement points would be to have some biscuits for tea/coffee in the room as at over £100 for night it is a small extra that makes a big difference. Also the butter at breakfast was rock-hard making it difficult to spread on the toast.
- Tieme (10/5): - Cozy, breakfast, rooms, great service
- vicki (10/5): -
- Debra (10/5): Loved it!! - Breakfast was excellent.
Loved my stay at the Kings Arms. The hotel has such character - the staff are very friendly and helpful too.
If ever I'm up your way again, I'll definitely stay over at Kings Arms.
- simon (9/5): -
- McGuinness (8/5): - Room and staff Restaurant closed and parking arrangements not ideal
- Messenger (9/5): -
- Beverley (9/5): Lovely location, very comfortable room, good choice of food available -
- Barry (9/5): - The staff are excellent. Room was charming, with a four poster bed and breakfast was superb. The guest musician on Sunday afternoon was an unexpected treat. Nothing!
- Simon (10/5): Great hosts, great location, great stay. - This is a lovely venue, in a great location close to main street and restaurants. The room was really good with a lovely bathroom. Breakfast was perfect, I will be going back.
- Vivienne (9/5): Lovely - Lovey old quirky building . Very welcoming, excellent staff. Delicious breakfast. Perfect vodka like soda. Twin room. My bed was in the corner quite tricky to get to, banged my head on the tv eg,
Sister always gets the best bed so she had that one
- Nick (9/5): Lovely hotel, be back in the Summer. 😎 - Lovely original old hotel, nice bar, good breakfast. Nice staff. Nothing.
- Wendy (9/5): -
- Martin (8/5): -
- Rachel (10/5): Beautiful - Everything Nothing
- Jenny (9/5): A lovely hotel and pub in a beautiful town, highly recommend. - The Kings Head is an atmospheric, cosy stay that is conveniently located to walk and explore Abergavenny. The room was clean, warm and well decorated with a gorgeous four poster bed and a generous supply of tea and fresh coffee! Breakfast was delicious. Sam and all the staff were so helpful and friendly, we felt very welcome and really enjoyed our stay. Would happily come and stay again. Thank you Sam!
- stephen (10/5): A wonderful place to stay to explore the town and castle - Breakfast was lovely . Room was warm and comfortable . There was a sofa to sit on in the room . We went to a wedding near by so we were not in the hotel for long period of times . Food in the in the restaurant was very good . It was a busy pub . There is a long stay car park across the road from the pub which cost £6:80 per 24 hours . The only thing that I noticed was some dust under the radiator in our room
- Elisabeth (9/5): -
- Kate (1/5): -
- Stephen (10/5): My stay at The King's Arms Abergavenny was thoroughly enjoyable and very restful - Staff were charming and the room was lovely.
- WENDI (10/5): - Has to be one of my best stays in a hotel and I have stayed in many all over the world. The staff were the best, the locals lovely and the room was amazing. We stayed with our dog and the staff were very accommodating, the small touches in the room for the dog were great. Highly recommend this beautiful hotel and will definitely be staying again.
- Samantha (10/5): -
- Christopher (10/5): - Incredible service!!!
- Richard (8/5): -
- Graham (10/5): A great stay with friendly welcoming hoteliers. - We’ve just returned from a wonderful stay at the Kings Arms Hotel in Abergavenny — what a fantastic base for exploring the area! It’s just a short drive to nearby towns and the Sugarloaf for some bracing countryside walks.
The hotel staff were absolutely lovely — warm, welcoming, and couldn’t have been more accommodating. Our room was spotlessly clean and very well equipped, with an ample supply of tea, coffee, bottled water, and even a cafetière with fresh ground coffee — a lovely touch.
Breakfast each morning was a real treat: fresh orange juice, granola with yogurt and red berries, followed by poached egg, avocado, and bacon. I opted for the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon — delicious! Toast with a wide selection of jams and a proper pot of tea rounded off the meal perfectly. Everything was cooked to perfection.
Although the hotel is centrally located, it was peaceful and quiet, even on Friday and Saturday nights. The room was incredibly comfortable and ready for our arrival, complete with thoughtful touches. We had booked a dog-friendly room, and they had even provided a bed and bowls for Pickles — very much appreciated.
The genuine friendliness of the staff made it feel more like staying with friends than being away. I’d highly recommend the Kings Arms Hotel for anyone visiting Abergavenny. We’ll definitely be back! Nothing.
- sam (10/5): - Really quirky pub, lots of history but very well set up, the staff were really friendly, room was great and the breakfast was top quality. Great location for exploring Brecon!
- Steven (8/5): - Friendly staff, great location.
- Kimberly (10/5): The staff made this stay so comfortable and easy! - The Kings Arms has a popular bar and sometimes live music. It was spotlessly clean, my hotel room was warm, cosy, and beautifully decorated. The vegetarian cooked breakfast was healthy and delicious! And the staff friendly and helpful! Nothing
- lorraine (10/5): Would definitely stay again, great price for a great central place to stay and breakfast was fantastic - Great atmosphere fantastic breakfast
- Philip (10/5): - The staff were excellent in showing real hospitality.
- colin (9/5): Smashing for a mini-break. - This hotel is full of character and charm, the staff were helpful. The pub side was great with some very nice beers and good atmosphere. Breakfast was fresh, hot and good quality, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on sourdough, just the job.. Right in the town centre so handy for the restaurants and bars. Walked around the castle ruins before breakfast which were nearby. Parking was very close at the council pay and display but not expensive. Just that there's no private parking, but understandable being an older building right in the town centre. Nothing else.
- Cobley (10/5): Great location, very attentive staff and lovely rooms. Highly recommended. - Lovely breakfast and very attentive staff - particularly Sam who was exceptional in taking care of us. They were able to upgrade our accommodation for my wife's birthday in a beautiful room up in the eaves. A lovely quirky building with an excellent atmosphere which made her birthday. Sorry, can't find much to fault !
- Simon (10/5): - The central location. The friendly staff and the historic four poster bedroom. Nothing
- Julie (10/5): Wonderful from the moment you walk in, bar, restaurant, rooms. Our stay was way beyond expectations as well as the lovley - Fabulous quirky amazing intimate hotel in the heart of Abergavenny.
Beams, wooden floors, original features, white washed big stone walls and fireplaces, inglenook lounge and cozy bars.
The large restaurant at the rear of the property is fantastic but the food is absolutely delicious and blew us away for sure.
We are returning next month it was that good.
Our room 11 is accessed via a secret small narrow creaky staircase which is enchanting! And wow what a gorgeous room!
Shoutout to Lauren who couldn’t do enough for us, nothing too much trouble. There is nothing to critique
- Suzanne (8/5): Very enjoyable lovely room and atmosphere in the bar and dining room - Very historic and good location very pleasant features and finishes Parking needs to be identified via public car park opposite
- Michelle (9/5): - Friendliness and kindness of the staff . Bar on site was a bonus . Historic building on a great location.
Four poster bed in room . Accommodated the dog well! Lovely breakfast too!!
Abergavenny is a lovely town. Lots of walks restaurants and shops on the doorstep. Noise from the bar could be heard in the room ..
No onsite parking but there was free parking in the adjacent carpark .
- Declan (10/5): -
- Robert (10/5): -
- John (9/5): - All was good. No complaints, all as expected.
- Alison (10/5): Lovely central hotel, great food and staff will definitely be booking again. - Great hotel and location
- Mandy (9/5): Great cosy pub, ideal location. - Lovely cosy attic room, clean and a really comfortable bed. A lovely welcome with staff, and really nice breakfast. Bar area gets very busy, but not a huge issue.
- M (9/5): - Friendly welcome on arrival, lovely room & breakfast, friendly staff, enjoyed our stay thank you 🙂
- Williams (9/5): Great pub/hotel in Great location. - 👍👍
- Patricia (8/5): Second visit. Comfortable and lovely staff - Lovely old pub. Full of character Steps and uneven floors
- Mark (8/5): A good choice in the middle of Abergavenny with good cheap parking. - We were upgraded to a larger and quiet room. It was a good provision. In an older building it had character but was modernised. Good atmosphere in the pub. Carol singing in the evening. Breakfast was not as well managed or cooked as lunchtime, which was very good.
- Ben (8/5): -
- Helen (8/5): King's Arms stay - Location
Traditional features
Friendly staff
Homely Men in bar using foul language in presence of children
Room in front.....very noisy from 5 30 am ....refuse lorry / traffic
Room/ en suite rather small
No biscuits with tea tray
- Bazza (7/5): Great if you want to be near all the action - Stayed here several times this year, it is just off the centre of town which is a great location. Breakfast as usual was excellent, I had the full English again on both days. Staff again were polite & friendly & always ready to help I was near the main entrance which was noisy due to people drinking outside, some guests were also inconsiderate when going to their rooms as singing as you go past other rooms doesn't help those trying to sleep
