- Jones (9/5): - I Was Great šššš
- Francisco (3/5): No rest because of how dirty - It was dirty It was dirty, didnt Even sleep on the bed
- Darius (1/5): -
- Ryan (4/5): -
- Lynn A (7/5): -
- Horne (4/5): Disappointing - Location Smelled like weed
- Andrew (6/5): Still need refund -
- Quincy (5/5): Passable - Staff was nice
- Rhiannon (7/5): Good size room, would probably stay again, but not the quality we were hoping for. - We liked that housekeeping didn't bother us during our stay. We liked how close to the coliseum the motel was. There was a smell of cat pee in the bathroom which may be due to the painted over mold on the ceiling. Plug outlets were jankily hanging on the floor, the floors were clearly not cleaned well before we arrived, because there was food from the last customer on them. The walls were so thin that we could hear the couple yelling at each other and their crying baby in the room next to us.
Also, they charged my debit card before we even returned the key, overdrafting my account. I had the funds set aside in another account so I wouldn't spend it while we were out on the town, but I felt judged by our tattoos and piercings and thus they ran the card while they watched us packing our Audi up with our things.
- Kemario (5/5): Passable - Nice location for purpose Lacked hot water
- Langley (5/5): Passable - Could hear people athrough the wall yelling and screaming from 4 am - 7:30 am
They were fighting. One was screaming for help, Cussing each other. Banging on the door for one to let the other in. I was afraid of what was going to happen. It was ridiculous. Same as above
- Kenneth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marlene (1/5): Disgusting property. Shame on Booking.com and Priceline for including it in their inventory. - No breakfast, but considering the filth of linens and room, we would not have taken any. The property should be condemnedāroaches and mold in the shower, around the toilet and over the air conditioner. Flushing the toilet caused brown water to seep out from under the toilet. People fought in the parking lot Fromm midnight through 4:30 am. The air conditioner was so loud we had to turn it off.
- James (6/5): - I was appreciative that they had a room available during graduation weekend. They are 10 minutes away from campus. All rooms are smoking so the ashtray odor is to be expected. The room phone didn't work. The outlets are so loose that the charger plug falls out. The tv shuts off intermittently every 5 to 15 minutes and it's a crapshoot how long it will be to come back on. Otherwise it was good enough to get some sleep.
- James (1/5): Bad experience šŖ - Good location. No hot water. The door was not secure. It was very loose and a small full size bed that creaked and very uncomfortable š That I was only there for one night.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Absolutely not the roll tide experience - Dirty, smelly room, covers had stains floor was sticky, shower was almost prison level, mold in the ac unit and microwave. This place needs to be shutdown
- Jeffrey (1/5): A nightmare on earth - There was nothing about those place I liked, we didn't even sleep under tye bed sheets. Staff was rude, room was disgusting. The TV didn't work. It's in a bad neighborhood. Do not go there. Everything
- Cathy (6/5): - The motel room was very outdated. For the price I paid, I expected better quality. Will not book here again.
- Robert (3/5): Meh - Close to where I was going Filthy, dirty, old, run down. My feet were black from dirty floor.
- Adam (2/5): Motel review - Room had a strong cigarette odor, only had 2 pillows that were paper thin. Lamp missing bulb, sheets were stained, overall nastiest motel I have stayed at.
- Tyler (4/5): - Room has been mopped or cleaned properly.
- Anonymous (1/5): Disgusting save your money! - Nothing! This place is absolutely disgusting We didnāt like a single thing this place should be condemned! Found needles in the beds roaches everywhere, mold, very rude owner and staff! worst stay ever!
- Tonya (10/5): - Loved it
- James (1/5): Horrible, Couldn't pay me to go back. - Worst room I have ever stayed in. Room smelled horrible, was mould on almost every surface and was not clean.
- Shea (1/5): Bad - Nothing. And they double charged me 3 days after I stayed there. So watch ur bank accounts fooling w these thieves
- Kevin (2/5): - I am a frequent traveller and this by far the worst please I have ever stayed. Paid for 3 nights only stayed one before switching to so some place else. Had to prepay and they are very strict about refunds. I suspect this happens a lot. DO NOT RISK staying here.
- Kyle (2/5): Very poor -
- Melissa (5/5): Passable - The owners were nice even though they could not speak very good english so I did business with the daughter which was very nice also. The bed was outdated but comfortable, we had a good night sleep both nights. No bugs! Good value for the money. It was a good night sleep anyway. Outdated hotel. Room needs a renovation with new bedding, and curtains. I will take pictures next time. Everything is outdated here. You get what you pay for these days.
- Gage (2/5): - Bed had cigarette burns, sperm stains and other flaws in the sheets. Mattress what too soft. Drug dealers out front yelling the whole time. Unsafe part of town. We didnāt even stay here because of that. Donāt stay at old English inn youāll be disappointed or die
- Alvin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniela (1/5): Bad -
- Domingo (2/5): Very poor -
- Dennie (6/5): good place to crash for game night - close to stadium room was too close to main road
- Chris (1/5): Bad -
- Daniel (1/5): Bad - nothing at all. it was trashy and not at all taken care of.
- Mike (6/5): - It was adequate, room heat was very noisy, and the hair dryer was broken. Other than that it was clean and as I mentioned adequate.
- Mark (1/5): Never stay again - Nothing Small room, plugs with no cover, holes in walls.
- Jennie (1/5): Bad -
- L (7/5): Would have been a perfect stay if the hot water wasn't lukewarm at best - Close to University, clean , friendly Water was cold
- Jeff (2/5): - For the amount of money charged, it was outrageous. Outdated is an understatement. Sink was broken, glued back together, and leaked when water ran. Windows dirty and drafty. Curtains misfit in space and not working properly. A/C knobs broken. Freezer in fridge frozen over. It will be chalked up to an experience.
- Jawuan (4/5): Disappointing -
- Kenneth (2/5): Poor poor poor - Location was decent Dirty⦠dated⦠smells like old smoke⦠toilet didnāt work. Window ac unit with no front cover
- Chris (1/5): Awful - Nothing Nasty and bathroom was flooded.
- Dana (2/5): - Worst hotel experience I have ever had, hands down. The staff is inconsiderate and some of the rudest people I have ever met. If you have the chance to stay here, don't. If I had a car to sleep in at the time it would have been preferable.
- Dana (2/5): - This was the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. The staff are very rude and inconsiderate.
- Dana (2/5): - The staff here is the rudest group of people I have ever had the misfortune of interacting with. One staff member opened my door as if she was going to walk in while I was wearing nothing but my underwear. When I complained they tried to kick me out for having an attitude.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointed - I was very disappointed in the room. Only a full size bed. Broken tile, sink was all cracked, lighting was terrible, it took over 10 minutes for the water to heat up and the outside light shone through the thin curtains all night. Very outdated. You couldn't dry yourself w/the undersized and very thin bath towel. The lamp kept going off (shorting out). Not to mention over $170 a night. I would not recommend.
- James (8/5): Clean basic room - No hot water. Sounded like water running all day/night in room beside me but nobody was in room.
Ice machine broke, but did have fridge, microwave and cable tv
- Krista Nicole (8/5): - It is an older property but it was clean and that was the most important. Wish they had some plastic silverware or a coke machine ( broken)or food machine. Not really much to accompany the needs of customers but otherwise it was ok. Id probably come back but next time bring my own stuff.
- David (4/5): Not a good place - I called this place for 12 hours and no one answered the phone to see if i can check in early. When i got there no one is at the front desk at the office i think its family owned and the family room or home is attached to the front desk and they have a camera in the front and i think this is how they know to come to the front desk. I remember calling/ hello like 3 times and no one came until anotger customer came in behind me and then this young man pops up and then thats when i realized they have a little hallway we cant see around the corner thats connected to a home. The room was dirty. I saw a bug near the food i had saved while i left the room. The water in the shower was all cold no hot water. My card to get into the room stopped working and i had to go back to thw office to get another one. The quilt/blanket had a hole in it and there was a light musty odor in thw room. It was not a good experience.
- Megan (10/5): - me and my friends absolutely loved the property. great location and amenities. next time we come back we will be staying here!
- joshua a (2/5): - This was by far the worst place I have ever stayed. Pretty sure the window unit has black mold, the bathroom, i never sat on the seat and wouldn't touch the shower floor with my bare feet, however they had some delightful aloe and green tea infused facial soap. I'm positive this room was used to make illegal substances, rented by the hour at some point, and possibly used to lay low while things settle down! While it is close to University of Alabama we have decided better to sleep in our car than to stay here again. I'm generally not too picky when it cones to laying my head down for a few hours but i think i draw the line here. The gas station next door had some good chicken and biscuits! The room was really just run down and not taken care of. There were NO bugs and the sheets were clean! So that is a plus! So unless you are a flim director looking to flim the lowest part of ones life making meth living in this hotel room i would not recommend it.
- Deberoah (2/5): - Staines bed linens, cigarette burns on curtain, chair back broken. Office locked at11pm and room key would not work - no answer to multiple phone calls to office!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Very dirty room, there were stains all over the sheets and, room was smelling mold
- Josiah (4/5): - Try to charge extra if yo don't pay attention
- Rebecca (6/5): - It was a place to sleep. Bed needed replaced in a bad way
- Verified traveler (2/5): - When i got there they said my reservation had been canceled because my card did not fo through, but i used the same card there and it went through. When room was ready and you walked in you can not smell nothing but bleach and had car.air freshners up as well, nice flat screen tv but it would not.come on if you use the remote or your hand, no outlets in the room other than what is already plugged up so had to charge my phone in the bathroom, the air condition was old and parts was missing and the curtains was cut over the a.c . never again will i stay there.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Get what you pay for - The manager and cleaning lady were very nice and accommodating. However, no large towel to dry off or iron to use.
- Russell (8/5): Good value - It's an old hotel...Clean overall...but grit on floor...old mattress, like Grandma's house..but ok...It's quiet. Anyone with mobility issues should reconsider this ... because you have to step up into the room...three steps
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Nothing I did not like a single thing about this property down to the staff that were rude they are liars and that's just the tip of it no hot water someone went in my room the staff went in my room lied said the reason they coming over after I had said I did not care for any services because they said they were going to take out when they come in because they take out the trash and give me fresh linens well I told him not to and they come in anyway and I didn't take out the trash nor did they give me fresh linens they informed me that sweeping my floor and and making my bed to change my sheets rather was my responsibility it wasn't theirs about 11:30 at night a friend of mine had left here and he left his key here so I told him okay well I'll I'll bring it to you I'll bring it up to the front and I'll wait for you right there so I did I was told to move to get back but I could not stand up there at the front office and wait for someone to for me to hand them the key I had to stand in the road or stand at the side where to start the chance for me to be mowed killed and many other things happening very disappointing very disappointed with this entire place down to even the rooms they're nasty their filthy they do not take care of their property they do not take care of their rooms and charge more than what a 4-star does I booked so y'all at $47 they charged me 60 so disappointing. I will never stay at this property again and I would advise anybody not to
- Verified traveler (6/5): - More like a 300 ft cabin. Very compact and very old but the price was right when no other hotels were available. If you want to spend $50 remember what you pay for
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The property was way below standards. There were mattress lying out on the ground, a car parked in the parking lot on blocks and the room was so outdated and had a bad smell. I had to drive 40 miles to Hoover to spend the night, it was that bad. I have spent thousands of dollars with expedia and never had any problems until this weekend. You guys really need to take a hard look at listing this one. I am out $305 on this one and would love to get some type of credit if possible. I have pictures if needed.
- Amanda (6/5): Not the cleanest - Room smelled like smoke. Hotel is pretty old, not in greatest condition. Workers were very friendly.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - scam. heartless people. make roll tide a joke. it is low price for reasons. reasonSSS.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - $60 a night and free parking and thatās about it ...
- Verified traveler (6/5): Could easily be better - Convenient location to visit University of Alabama. Staff was accommodating. The property is in drastic need of a face lift, Although my room was clean, the dated electrical outlets (too few and inconveniently located), the cracked tile in the bathroom, old curtains, paint and general decor could be updated for a very small owner investment. The bathroom towels were super thin and non-absorbent. Even inexpensive Walmart towels are substantially better. Simple improvements such as a tv remote without scotch tape holding the batteries in would be a nice touch. Small inexpensive improvements to the property would make it very desirable to those visiting University of Alabama.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel was very close to the university which was a big plus, it was a no frills place adequate to a stay, the rooms were clean.
there were no amenities as this is a budget place and some of the linens were in need of repair.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The shower is very big and sets the mood me my husband lived it
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Property management was terrible. Place stink as soon as you walk in to check in.
- Sandra (10/5): Awesome - Was nice . Could use better smell
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place to stay for the price, Very clean Quiet and well kept. Will be back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good hotel for the price. However hotels.com did not make it easy to book this hotel. They kept redirecting us to other hotels with lower prices and lower rating. Shame on you, fix your website problems and make it less baised. Will stay again at ole English Inn.
- Michael (8/5): - I've stayed at this hotel before, so I knew what to expect. Hotel is very outdated, but for the price is perfect. Room was clean, ac/heater was old but worked great. Staff was friendly. Only 3miles to campus. The door uses a key instead of a card, and in this case I didn't like because our lock was worn out. I told the owner so the problem was getting resolved. Overall I was satisfied for what I paid for. Probably will stay again.
- Grandma (10/5): - Nice budget priced hotel. Convenient location, helpful staff.
- Dawn (4/5): Unpleasant stay - The hotel was clean but very run down. The clerk at the front desk was very nice when we checked in. However we were woken up by someoneine coming into our room at 7:30am. Turns out it was the cleaning lady - but it gave us a heart attack! Ridiculous. Not sure why she was unlocking a door without knocking to make sure no one was there - is beyond me. Also - do they not have a list stating who has left?? We were sleeping and woken up by the sound of the door unlocking and opening. Unacceptable. About the only thing I can say positive is it was clean. But the condition of the hotel is poor at best.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Old building, but what you would expect. Everything worked, staff was friendly. A cheap place to stay on gamedays.
- Allen (10/5): - We have stayed here 4 times now ,very nice people and rooms are clean. Just right for a one night stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): You don't get much for your money. - On the plus side, check-in was easy and other than the refrigerator the room was basically clean. On the negative side, amenities were sorely lacking, the AC unit cycled on and off every few minutes and sounded like an airplane taking off. Make sure you take your own shampoo and conditioner. The towels are clean but tiny and exceptionally thin.
- A (2/5): Unsatisfactory - Booked through Expedia, got there and had a family emergency. Didn't even step in the room and they wouldn't let me cancel. Over charged for nothing!
- kevin (2/5): - This hotel is old,bad smell......and no hot water.....Also not safety to stay here ......Never stay again....
- t (6/5): Good hotel for the cost - It was clean and comfortable. The WiFi was terrible .25mbps. So if you have any work to do like I did the bandwidth isnāt there. The water was good pressure and there was hot water for as long as I wanted. Never an issue. For a smoking room it didnāt even smell bad.
- Tara (8/5): cheap and nice - For the price the hotel was clean and front desk help was nice I enjoyed my stay it was also quiet which I liked. My only problem was the mattress was a little soft.
- Diane (4/5): Slip, sank, sunk - Our floors were slippery, no hot water for the bathroom sink no matter how long it ran, hotel reception staff could have been more inviting, and the room was cold- we needed to go out to allow it to warm up.
- Melissa (8/5): Ole English Inn - This is a modest little hotel. Itās not fancy or anything but itās clean and itās not overpriced. The only complaint I have is the hot water in the shower takes forever to heat up but if you donāt mind waiting then you wonāt mind staying here.
Iāve stayed here several times when passing through town and will continue to stay here.
- Marlene (8/5): Decent motel off the beaten path - Was not planned in my trip to Mississippi but am glad it was here. Older motel but clean nice personal. Would stay here again
- Tyrell (6/5): 45minutes walk from the university of Alabama - I used this hotel to watch Alabama football game.
IF go to the stadium ,you should use Uber or Taxi.
The Hotel is not clean ,but Staffs are very kind and the 24hours convenience store is in the next.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great for the money - Stayed here for 4 days when I was in town for the Alabama football game. I've been hiking 900 miles down the entire East Coast and one of the place that was economical. The place was dated and actually even use his real room keys still. It was very clean though and comfortable. And after staying in several hotels on the Strip that left me frustrated by all the noise, this one was very quiet the whole time I was there. Each room also has a new mini fridge and a microwave. It also was only about a 40 minute walk to the university. The owners were very accommodating and even came by the room a couple times to see if I needed anything. I'm not comparing it to an expensive Motel but for a budget stay it was very good
- Verified traveler (2/5): donāt waste your money - The establishment is terrible ... from the rooms to the management. My stay was all of an hour and they refuse to issue even a partial refund of the inflated rate of 200 dollars . Id rather sleep in my car then stay here or recommend it to anyone
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Even for a last minute booking this room was in very poor condition. I'm glad I had a pair of my own sheets with me because I used them to sleep on cause the sheets on the bed were dingy and had holes in them. Then comforter as well. The lock on the room door barely worked. I couldn't hang up clothes cause the little space for that was hanging off the wall.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - When we got there the office was empty. They kept looking at us when we were outside and never asked if we needed help. We get our key and walk into the room. It smelled weird and I had gnats crawling on me. There were a ton of flies in the bathroom and there was mold or something in the AC window unit. I would not recommend this place.
- antonio (2/5): - Low low low
- Verified traveler (10/5): Solo stay... - Clean...
- Verified traveler (10/5): University of Alabam stay... - Clean and very convenient...
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Very dirty. Burns in bedsheets. Claimed they cleaned when they didn't.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - For 40 bucks I'd stay here again.
- Chris (8/5): A room that a served its purpose - While not the most modern hotel, the room was what I needed. It was very convenient to the university. The staff of the hotel was attentive and caring and this is something you don't see often. I would stay there again.
- Mike (8/5): Good value - I came here on business, and cost is important to me. The mattress was a little firm for my liking, but I got used to it. Owner and family are really nice people. I would stay here again if I come back this way.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Old but clean. Quiet area but not far from university.
