- Adrian (10/5): Just perfect. - Cracking location. We were made very welcome by Steve who was a fantastic host. The food we had was excellent and well priced. Really clean and comfortable rooms couldn’t ask for more. We will be back again. Very accommodating as we were going to be late one evening and we moved the time we had booked dinner for and it was no problem at all. Nothing.
- Edward (10/5): -
- Ben (7/5): Ok, would stay again - Friendly welcome, nice quiet room, comfy bed - good sleep. Breakfast cold meat and cheese - a merciful change from greasy cooked breakfast. Shower only just warm enough, I was cold eating dinner. Probably better in the summer!
- Stephen (10/5): -
- Justin (10/5): Excellent and friendly small hotel - Very friendly and helpful welcome. Comfortable and well-equipped room. Parking right outside. Glorious breakfast and a nice takeaway on the morning when I left very early.

- Nicola (10/5): Lovely night away when visiting kielder observatory - We visited stayed at grapes hotel for one night whilst in the area to visit kielder observatory. The rooms was compact but clean with all facilities we could’ve needed. We ate downstairs in the restaurant, food was lovely and staff couldn’t do enough for us.
We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again next time we’re in the area.

- Suzanne (9/5): -
- Kevin (8/5): - Very friendly staff Room was a little expensive for type of accomodation
- Detlef (9/5): Great wee hotel in Newcastleton - Great little hotel. Rooms were absolutely spotless. I just needed a single bed to crash for the night and it was perfect for that. Loved the wonky floors in the old building. The bar was also really nice for a bit of relaxation before going to bed. Shout out to Steve, a great host and super knowledgeable on everything related to whisky. There is also a fantastic whisky shop at the hotel called "Nothing but whisky", which stocks hundreds of different whiskies including rare and discontinued whiskies. The highligh of my stay :) . Steve was also very accommodating allowing an early check in to suit my schedule Nothing really. If i had to pick something, it would be that the water in the shower was lukewarm at best, but I was happy to live with that
- Michael (7/5): - Clean bed nice food Walls were super thin heard lots of noise from the next door ie toilet flushing and showers running
- Jaxonholiday (10/5): - Warm, welcoming flexible, everything you need for a great holiday. Nothing

- Stewart (8/5): Ideal for our plans and needs. - Ideal location; friendly helpful staff; convenient parking (directly outside); room had recently been refitted and redecorated; good value overall (Breakfast did not offer a cooked option (though that probably did me a favour as if they did offer one I would have struggled not to be tempted, though I am trying to diet a bit!)

- Kieran (8/5): Friendly staff; good location for outdoor activities in the area. - Great staff. Put on a packed meal for me since I was leaving before breakfast. Clean. Quiet. Plenty of room. Parking. Felt it was a little expensive.
- gary (9/5): - breakfast was continental but would have preferred a cooked breakfast
- Rhys (10/5): Brilliant country inn - Basic friendly comfortable hotel with delightful staff in a wonderful area. Went above and beyond to make my stay perfect Nothing

- Witte (9/5): Uitstekend hotel - Vriendelijk personeel, fietsen konden binnen staan. Goede bedden en schoon. Rustig dorp. Ontbijt was erg eenvoudig maar wel genoeg
- Benjamin (10/5): Really great, friendly, cosy stay. - I came here to do a triathlon approx 30 minute drive away, and stayed in a single room with my parents nearby in a double room. The member of staff who greeted us was exceptionally friendly, and went our of her way to help us. In fact, she even provided us a breakfast at 4 Am by leaving it near the front door so we could get it on our way out. We had dinner and the food was great. Parking was easy, and free.
- Drew (9/5): -
- Andrew (10/5): Lovely stay with very helpful staff - Great time, refurbished bathrooms were lovely and staff were very helpful
- Rachael (5/5): A great host, who was very friendly. Room was slightly on the basic side, especially the on-suite. But the room was clea - Lovely traditional pub, in the middle of nowhere, nice spacious room. The on-suite was very small and not finished off to a very high standard, pealing paper and water that took a long time to heat up and get through to the shower. Didn’t like that the wash basin wasn’t in the bathroom, but in the bedroom.
- David (7/5): -
- Tom (8/5): Warm and friendly - Staff were great, cheerful and helpful. The accommodations were solid value for money. A comfy bed, a shower and a good restaurant. What more do you need.
- Riccardo (8/5): - The staff is lovely

- Jayne 052 (5/5): - Food was excellent and location great for the purpose of our visit
- David (5/5): - Had to clean the toilet, it had excrement on it.
Should have complained. The more I thought of it I didn't want to touch anything light switches, door handles taps.
- Christina (10/5): -
- Alan (8/5): Good location, friendly, helpful staff and all clean; breakfast was disappointing. - Character
Location
- Hannah (9/5): Lovely rooms, nice and quiet would of been nice to have a cooked breakfast option - Loved how modern the inside of the pub / accommodation was. Looks like the bedroom had recently been refurbished. Not what I was expecting from the outside. A million times better than what we were expecting. It would have been nice to have the option of a cooked breakfast, although the continental breakfast did the job.
- James (8/5): -
- Patricia (7/5): -
- Sarah (10/5): Warm, friendly, traditional hotel. Highly recommend. - Very friendly, comfortable, delicious food. I liked everything except I only stayed one night and I really wanted the fish and chips so I didn’t get a chance to try the ostrich burger.
- Scott (9/5): When visiting the borders, stay at the Grapes Hotel - The Grapes Hotel is a classic Scottish pub in the centre of Newcastleton. The staff were very welcoming and helpful once we overcame the language barrier - I was asking to check-in - not ordering the chicken - although we did dine in that night and the chicken was excellent. The room was great, the bed large and comfy, the bathroom modern with plenty of hot water, good wifi, and the continental breakfast was a good start for the next day. We would stay again.
- Ronald (9/5): -
- Patricia (7/5): -
- Robert (9/5): Many thanks for the really good stay. - The room was good, the bathroom was newly refurbished and the beds were really comfortable.
The staff were also really helpful and very friendly. It would have been nice to have the offer of a small cooked breakfast.

- Philip (10/5): A great place for our stop over from Scotland to England on our epic motorbike trip - A comfortable hotel with amply stocked rooms. Warm and cosy. Everybody friendly and helpful. The restaurant and food was excellent.
- Logistics Limited (10/5): - Thank you for providing driver with a snack breakfast.
- David (10/5): A Great Pub in the Borders - Excellent pub right on the Reivers Cycle Route from Newcastle to Whitehaven. Secure bike storage, clean comfortable rooms, good hearty food, good beer, friendly and helpful landlord and staff. Breakfast continental (but still hearty!). A gem of a stopover in an otherwise very lonely area: strongly recommended.
- Alison (10/5): - Friendly welcome! Much appreciated after a long day cycling!
- nigel (10/5): - We are a group of long distance cyclists. We were made to feel very welcome on arrival. The evening meal was excellent, breakfast was continental style but they went above and beyond with what they provided. Excellent location if you're doing the Kirkpatrick C2C.
- Edward (10/5): -
- Jane (9/5): A warm welcome, helpful staff and a great meal. - Perfect location for cycling the Kirkpatrick C2C
- Tanya (9/5): -
- Duncan (9/5): Super friendly staff. Steve the host was easy to talk to and was very knowledgeable on whiskey's. - Felt comfortable and relaxed. Great Host and staff. friendly locals. Large games room. great food, had two evening meals which were great value and very tasty. A well, quality stocked continental break fast included in the morning. The previous weekend we'd stayed at the very grand Thainstone House Hotel. Which was noisy, the room was too hot, no catering for my gluten free son and twice the price. Give me the Grapes any Time. All good
- Simon (7/5): -
- Jon (9/5): Definitely would recommend and evening meal was excellent. - Excellent location, helpful staff, clean and well-equipped rooms.
- Darren (10/5): - Very cosy. Nice little
Touches in the room
- Nina (10/5): Clean quiet room, good food and friendly staff - Very clean, recently refurbished room. Extremely friendly staff. We arrived by bike and were allowed to leave our bikes in the building over night. The pub has a good bar and serves good, home cooked food. Not that it could be better, but worthwhile knowing. The breakfast is a very good continental breakfast, but there is no cooked full Scottish breakfast.
- Annemarie (9/5): - Friendly staff great wee hotel Nothing
- Joel (9/5): - The staff was fantastic, room is modern/very clean. Beds are comfortable and shower is great. Food very good. Like all the places we've stayed on our Scotland trip, the pillows were too hard for our liking. Recommend traveling with your favorite pillows.
- Barry (10/5): - great hotel, amazing staff. A hidden gem. Guest service is exceptional and the warmth and friendless from all around the Grapes to guests is really special.
- allan (9/5): -
- Kathleen (10/5): The staff where brilliant, the room, food, hospitality was excellent - Everything was absolutely perfect
- Temple (10/5): great staff and lovely location - Evening meal was top class
- Luke (4/5): Look elsewhere - Good location to access the observatory. The quality of dinner was good. Bedrooms recently decorated and the room was clean. The heating stopped working during the night. The staff were at times rude in relation to complaints. Breakfast was poor and was left hung on the bedroom door.
- edwards (9/5): Will stay there again. - Breakfast Continental very well presented and enjoyable, Evening meal excellent good value for the price. no comment

- Mark (10/5): Excellent Stay - Fantastic welcome from the host, lovely bar area, very friendly regulars, never been spoken to in a bar for a very long time. All very friendly. Great location, lovely village
- John (7/5): Overnight Stay - The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spotless and recently decorated. The window above the door let in light so the room didn't get dark.
There was a very loud drunk man downstairs until about midnight which made it hard to sleep.
- Lisa (9/5): Absolute gem, highly recommend this place to anyone. John the owner & his staff were so welcoming! We wasn’t going t - Very cosy, had everything we need. Really convenient with the restaurant and bar.
The rooms are in progress of being decorated & updated. The place as a whole is exceptionally clean. Location is fabulous for visiting Kielder. Nothing
- Philip (8/5): - Excellent location Needs to offer cooked breakfast.
- Jo (7/5): Very comfortable stay with my son on day 2 of a cycling holiday along the Scottish border. - Highly recommend the vegan curry.
We were made to feel very welcome - storage space for our bikes, vegan options for breakfast even though we didn't ask in advance, great location in the centre of the town The decor is quite tired
