Guest Reviews
- John (9/5): Private, extremely clean, bed & linen impeccable - Our cabin was comfortable and spacious. Bed linen was impeccable & the whole cabin spotless. Staff courteous & helpful. A most enjoyable stay
- kaylene (10/5): Clean, comfortable, location great . Fantastic hosts - Hosts were friendly & very welcoming
- MacAlpine (10/5): - The accommodation was cozy, the tour was awesome and the staff were amazing NA
- Heather (10/5): Great spot to stay in and lovely cabin - Fabulous cabin, really private, tucked away in the bush, quiet. Included everything you could wish for
- Naomi (9/5): - Comfortable and the cabin was quite private.
- Russell (9/5): Perfect location to see the Capricorn Caves - Check in was fast and easy upon arrival, explanation on how to find the cabin clear and simple. Found the keys, got in, everything was fine, chilled on the veranda with a glass of wine, had a lovely time. Not sure about the water pressure in the shower, it seemed fine, but it just took a while to adjust the hot and cold water. One handle is plenty, no need for two so water has to be adjusted. Otherwise all went well
- Lynn (10/5): Great little stop over - Booked this last minute to break up a long journey and we were so pleased- had everything we needed and had even been left a few mini chocolate eggs as it was Easter weekend! It was quiet, clean and in a beautiful location- we did a caves tour the following morning which was so informative and great fun
- HUI CHING (9/5): Excellent stay beside Capricorn Caves - Spacious & clean, close to wildlife Nothing

- Marta (9/5): - So peaceful, in the middle of bush. Close to caves. Public amenities great. We asked for our beds to be separated in advance. When we arrived it was not done and management not very cooprative. I had to do it myself, which would not have to be a big deal, but I'm 72 old and travelling with my daughter with a disability. So, it wasn't easy.
- Agnes (10/5): I recommend this place..planning of going back for a longer vacay. - The cabin was great..clean and tidy. None

- Graham (5/5): Great First Impression then Downhill - Our first impression of the property was excellent with easy check-in, the location was perfect for us, the layout of the cabin was just what we wanted and the facilities suited us. One of the outstanding features was the cleanliness of the cabin. We have stayed in many and this cabin was far and away the cleanest property we have stayed in. Sleep. One of the most important things is being able to get a good night's sleep. The mattress in the lower bunk I was in was so hard it hardly flexed and extremely uncomfortable. I do not suffer from back problems but my back ached after using it. I approached reception with my concern and received a very short "there is nothing we can do for you", which given how good the rest of the property was surprised me and it was very clear to me I wasn't about to get any help. Most disappointing. I ended up curling up on one of the 2 seater lounges to sleep which didn't really work too well.

- Naomi (10/5): Quiet and peaceful - Loved everything about this place. From the friendly staff to the spacious cabin, it was one of the highlights of our trip.
We loved the cathedral tour through the cave, our guide was very knowledgeable and fun. Nothing to not like, just take mozzie repellent and apply like it's going out of fashion.
- Phillip (6/5): Good but internet or wifi - It was so quiet There was no way to contact anyone or body from the room
- Sallyanne (9/5): We enjoyed the peacefulness and limited phone reception. We did the adventure tour and cathedral tour. Was excellent. - Peaceful and quiet
- Jocelyn (10/5): -
- Garry (8/5): -
- Sharon (7/5): -
- Jessica (9/5): Rustic cabin stay - Location and perfect stop between Airlie and Noosa Only one realistic choice for eating out
- Jane (8/5): Great place.wish we could have stayed longer - Natural setting. Great aircon. Shower didn’t work very well
- Baza (10/5): -
- David (10/5): Excellent stay would highly recommend it staff are exceptional and the young lady that did our tour was excellent and fu - Peace and quiet beautiful surroundings Lids for saucepans would be handy and a broom in the cabin
- Nodsnarb (7/5): Peace and Tranquility - I really enjoyed my stay at the Caves, even though it's a 25-30 minute drive back into the Rockhampton. It's divinely quiet though. especially at night. The cabin's kitchen was well provisioned in terms of cookware and crockery/cutlery, and the BBQ on the balcony was an unexpected bonus, although it was pretty dirty and could use a clean.
But - if peace and tranquility are what you're looking for (plus some amazing caves to explore), then Capricorn Caves is highly recommended, as is the Caves Pub (just down the road - best steak I've had in a long time!). I can't say I found the bed and pillows comfortable - the mattress was very hard, as were the pillows. I found myself waking up more tired than when I went to sleep.
- Robyn (10/5): Better than expected and a lovely experience in a fully contained cabin in a bush setting. - Just off the highway and into nature. A lovely overnight stop that was so comfortable. The caves tour if you have time for is remarkable. Delicious meals at local pub 5 min down the road.
- Deborah (10/5): Value for money for a stop over to visit the caves. - The cabin was spacious, clean, comfortable & had everything needed for an overnight stay to visit the caves. The bathroom was a bit smelly when we first arrived but hubby poured some water down the drain & it eventually went away. Other than that no complaints at all.
- Sander-Kristjan (9/5): - I liked it so much I deceided to stay here twice. Very clean and comfortable. So quiet that I had the best sleep.
Niets
- Gollmann (9/5): -
- Jeanette (10/5): A beautiful location to relax, unwind and explore - Private, comfortable and in nature. Hard to find anything I didn’t like.
- Danielle (10/5): - The only improvement I can suggest is some kid's activities/play area for little ones but otherwise a really enjoyable and tidy stay
- Trix (10/5): -
- Colin (8/5): -
- Naomi (10/5): Break away holiday on drive home :) - Cave tour and the peace
- Margaret (9/5): - Roomy, everything we needed was available. Good condition.
- Johns (10/5): - Peaceful, quiet and secluded No wifi or phone signal at all.
Bed was very firm.
Was a puddle of dirty water on the floor in the shower.
- Jeff (9/5): Quite and relaxing - The surounding bush and wildlife. The caves
- Jonathan (7/5): - A nice simple stay.
- Tiffany (8/5): - Very convenient for visiting the caves. Basic but had what we needed.
- Jenny (7/5): -
- Duncan (7/5): Nice stay will come again, but in need of modernisation. - Nice location, nice people. All facilities are old and in need of updating.
- Gareth (9/5): Loved it! - Such a beautiful location, other campers all so friendly, peaceful and relaxed. Cold winter night outdoors (and we’re from NZ!) but plenty of heating inside. No problem arriving after dark (and had awesome dinner at the recommended (and delightful) country pub). Did the cave tour next morning with an awesome guide 👍 Perhaps a minor thing but the floor seems to magnify sound and vibration, every footstep at night seems to thump and teenage daughter dropping down from the bunk was like sonic boom through the cabin.
- Tyler (5/5): - The cave experience was really good and so beautiful The accomodation could have been a little better but still worth the stay for the tour
- Sally (8/5): - Great place to stay. Spacious and clean cabins with great kitchen and bathroom amenities. Beds very comfortable. Beautifully maintained grounds surroundings and very private. Only issue are the laundry facilities where washer and dryer machines were not working properly . Move to card operated, away from coin, would also be useful.
- Joshua (10/5): -
- Meredith (10/5): Peaceful and Quiet - Very quiet location and a comfortable bed. There was nothing bad about the cabin.
- Lyndall (9/5): Will definitely be staying again. - Beautiful, peaceful and secluded accommodation. Only hiccup was poor wifi connection in our particular cabin.
- Christine (9/5): Superb - Comfortable cabin, quiet location, easy check in
- Simon (9/5): A short stay to attend the caves and was a great stop over in beautiful, quite surroundings - Clean, surroundings, great location for the caving No aircon in 2nd bedroom could be hot in summer
- Reilly (9/5): Great accomodation in a great location could not fault the property so good 😊 - Exceeded expectations
- Shane (10/5): Relaxing, very enjoyable. - Large clean cabin. Well equipped. Lovely bbq area on the deck. Very private
- Kerryn (10/5): - We really enjoyed the spacious cabin.. plenty of room to move.. Clean and plenty of hot water but we really loved the fact that we were surrounded by trees and couldnt even see or hear our neighbours!! It was so peaceful and relaxing..
- Pietroboni (8/5): Very good -
- Keren (5/5): Passable -
- Craig (8/5): A great caving experience - The location is great. Very quiet and the cabins are basic but comfortable , except the bunk beds.
Make sure you do a cave tour , the caverns are excellent and the cathedral cave experience is quite special. I absolutely recommend a visit The beds mattresses on the bunk beds in our cabin were thick vinyl and hard as a rock . They were so uncomfortable I took cushions off the sofa and slept on the floor.
- D (8/5): Very good -
- Anthony (8/5): Peaceful bush location - Peaceful bush location only a short way out of Rockhampton. We cooked steaks on the BBQ - much cheaper than the pub!
- Jan (9/5): Did not want to leave -
- Ruth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wayne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bourne (6/5): Not as good as the first stay - A nice quiet location.
Well equipped cabins
Nice dry rainforest walk We have been here 3 times. Last time someone had spilled milk in the fridge & it was still all under the crisper. This time we couldn’t use the bbq because it was filthy. It was also evident the fridge hadn’t been properly cleaned as the crisper still had crumbs. If an extra effort was put into cleaning it would be a great spot.
- Corine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Belinda (8/5): Very good - The cabins were really spacious and well kept Absolutely no reception, which meant I couldn’t take work calls or communicate.
Had to keep driving up the road to get connection, wifi would have been a great help
- Robyn (8/5): Great location - A quiet location in a beautiful bush setting, next time we will ensure we have time for the cave tour.
- Sheena (6/5): Pleasant - Spending time with my family Wasn't much coffee, no wifi
- Nadine (9/5): Superb - It was lovely and quiet. We discovered our shower head wasn't working and somebody came out on Easter night to fix it. Being greeted by wallabies outside the bedroom window was lovely. The mozzies 😀
- Maryann (8/5): Very good -
- Kelly (7/5): Definitely worth a visit! - It's just off the highway and easy to find. Staff were great. We ended up eating from the food they had in the reception which we were thankful for as the pub down the road was shut for Easter and we had planned on eating there when we arrived after a long drive. Otherwise we would of had to gone in to Rockhampton which would of been fine had we not been travelling all day and really didn't want to do any more once we got there.
Definitely do the cave tours. We did the Explorer one. I and scared of hights and caustafobic and managed to do it all but one cave. If your brave the adventure one would be interesting but there would be no way I would of done that one.
The cathedral cave in have heard from others to be really good and you would manage that if you had any concerns.
Staff are very knowledgeable and its all privately owned so your business is very important, they are doing some great research there too. The bunk bed would be the only thing I would complain about as it's mattresses weren't comfortable and were in plastic designed obviously for young children in case of bed wetting. Which is smart for young children but for an 17 year old she felt the mattress very hard and not thick enough. We ended up using both mattress on the lower bunk to make it more comfortable. The other bed in the same room was fine as it was an ensemble.
I don't think if you were travelling with younger children you would have a problem but for older or even larger kids you would..
But problem with mossies, definitely bring some spray as you will need it, outside but not in the caves. Don't let that stop you though.
