Guest Reviews
- Sarah (10/5): - Breakfast was INCREDIBLE. Staff was very kind and the place was great! Awesome location so close to solitude and brighton and very beautiful. Amazing food and staff!!
- Emma (9/5): Excellent room for a great price - The staff was friendly, the room was beautiful and comfortable and the breakfast was excellent! Nothing really to say here!
- Shari (10/5): - The staff is amazing!!
- Evan (9/5): -
- Dave (10/5): - We were there for a bike race and this was close, quiet and the staff was great!
- Vladimir (2/5): - The worst property I've ever been too, heater on all the time, tne noise from the road awful
- Jordi X. (10/5): - Nice rustic style motel, the restaurant is excellent, it sits in a terrace with great view, super service. The breakfast is included, it is delicious and eggs & bacon are on the menu.
- Debs (8/5): Rustic hotel - Beautiful spot and scenery was beautiful. Rustic basic room. Food was delicious 😋 perfect spot for overnight stay. We were at the front of the hotel. Room very hot as pilot on heater was on. The fan was cool but too noisy at night to leave on. If we were staying longer than one night I would have asked for a room at the back as traffic noise was loud from 5am.
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brian (10/5): - This was our first time staying at the lodge. We had eaten there many times in the past. I only have positive things to say. We will for sure be repeat customers of the lodge!
- John (10/5): Gorgeous setting, cool historic hotel, amazing food, great price, incredibly sweet staff. - The breakfast was amazing -- in front of some of the most beautiful mountains in the West. The food was exceptionally good and the staff were so kind, I have no complaints whatsoever. I can't wait to go back!
- John (8/5): - Good food and great location.
- James (10/5): - great food, cozy atmosphere and great staff...
this was our 3rd visit
- Ethan (9/5): We would stay here again because the proximity to Solitude & the restaurant was amazing! - The restaurant had amazing food and a great staff. We enjoyed breakfast and dinner there the entire time we were there. The rooms were not amazing but they did the job.
- Carolina (8/5): Overall good place to stay. Our room was simple , nothing fancy but comfortable enough. The lounge areas are good with f - Liked its proximity to Solitude and Brighton. Great breakfast food. It’s a mountain lodge very much in theme of being one. There wasn’t a tv in the room. Shuttle stop right outside. The wifi in the room wasn’t reliable.
- Mark (9/5): Perfect location with great food and amazing staff. Authentic spot... - Breakfast, dinner and staff are amazing! Would highly recommend since it is a great location to Solitude and Brighton. Not much they can do about it, and it is the character of the lodge, but the rooms are pretty small.
- Jarod (10/5): - Great lodge !
- Damien (8/5): Very good - Location, staff, restaurant are all very good. The first room I was in was very cold. Seemed that there was a leaking window.
- Jonathan (6/5): - It is beautiful in the mountains! Lots of hiking and a gorgeous patio to sit in.
The room has black mold all over the walls in the bathroom, so we had to leave early because I’m allergic to mold.
- Cody (10/5): - Right up in the canyon. The restaurant has excellent food, and a great outdoor view!
- David (8/5): - Loved the restaurant and staff, loved the surroundings, very beautiful in the canyon; just a bit noisy from other rooms but i understand its a very old building. Overall a wonderful visit!
- April (8/5): - Beautiful locale. and very large portions.
- Zac (1/5): Better sleep somewhere else. - Nothing. It smelled like the sewer vented into the room. Had to sleep with the windows open and listen to all the cars driving by 30 feet away. It was the most we have ever paid for a hotel and also the worst place we’ve stayed. It’s old. Falling apart. We could have stayed 20 minutes further away in a better hotel and cheaper. The bed sunk in to where my wife was leaning on me. I’m not that big. I probably only got an Hour of sleep. Food was super oily like dripping with oil or butter or whatever they used. All we tried was breakfast.
- Greta (8/5): Cozy, traditional mountain lodge with scrumptious breakfasts ! - The wonderful breakfast that comes with the room, and the excellent, friendly staff make the value quite good.
The rooms are cute, but the whole facility could use a deep cleaning.
Having said that, the stay was pleasant and comfortable!
- Joshua (10/5): - Nice and comfy stay. The food was absolutely perfect. The bison burger was one of the best I've ever had.
- Gretchen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Franceschini (10/5): Exceptional -
- Francesca (8/5): Good money value, great staff and good food - The place is pretty rustic, but very comfortable; at our arrival, the check-in was fast and we got a room upgrade as a more spacious one was available. The room was clean and had anything we needed. The staff was very welcoming, professional, nice and casual the entire time, offering suggestions and help. Breakfast and dinner had lots of options and I appreciated the few vegan/vegetarian ones. We used the shuttles/buses to reach the resorts and ski rather than renting a car and the service is just great: the bus stop is exactly in from of the lodge on both directions. On the last day we asked to leave our luggage after the check-out and it was possible to store bags with no problem. If I really have to find something, I'd say the bed mattress was way too soft, but I believe it's just personal preference.
- Harmony (8/5): Great place if you don’t need a lot of amenities. - This is the perfect spot if you are looking for an economical place to stay in between ski days. The attached restaurant makes meals and apres drinks very convenient, and the staff is beyond friendly!
- Courtney (10/5): - We were so happy with our stay here. Room was pretty standard with bed, dresser and bathroom. The location is perfect. There is a bus stop right at the lodge to take you to and from the mountains for free. The restaurant served amazing food and we ate there every night. Any entree on their breakfast menu is included if you stay overnight making it the best breakfast at a hotel we have ever had. We will be staying here again next time we visit for the slopes.
- Richard (10/5): Ski stay at Silver Fork Lodge - Quaint throwback lodge Tiny bathroom
- Allyson (9/5): This bed and breakfast was comfortable with a great staff, we will definitely be back! - The property was very comfortable and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Our group had 3 different rooms and spent time in the two common areas after long days of skiing. The sauna was a great addition to our day as well. The restaurant had great breakfast and dinner menus, a large breakfast comes with your stay and it was amazing every morning! The bed in one of the rooms was not as comfortable as others stated theirs were.
- Christina (10/5): Amazing, comfy, cozy and cant wait to return! - The bed & room was super comfortable! I loved the common spaces, we were able to play games, watch football, movies, etc! I also really appreciated the Sauna in the basement, so clean and new! The Bar/Restaurant closed way too early!
- Guillermo (8/5): The convenience of location to ski was worth it. - Definitely felt the age of the place, old wooden doors(a hallway closet door was hanging off the hinges). Our room was at the end of the hall, next to a curtain which hotel supplies. No TV's or alarm clock in the room. Sharing the entrance to the lounge with that of the restaurant, didn't fell cozy at all. Bar maid was also the front desk, which was odd. We did eat there one night, and the prices were outrageous for the quality of food. No elevator, so if your elderly, or have an injury, the narrow steps up to the rooms were a challenge. BUT, the rooms were clean, and location to lifts for the price, you can't beat.
- Diana (9/5): Superb - Great place for this price! Amazing staff and free breakfast is incredible. Also, you can get lunch and dinner at the hotel. The bus stop is right in front of the hotel, but both times we tried to use it, the bus was full.
- Lance (8/5): Very good - location deodorizer smell in room was overwhelming.
- Corianne (10/5): - Very rustic and charming, perfectly priced, and great proximity to the ski resorts.
- Maureen (7/5): Good option for a quick stay. - The breakfast was great. The room was cozy. The bed was a little lumpy. There was just a space heater for heat. So the room was very cold and took a few hours to get to a comfortable temperature.
- Kristina (8/5): It was a fun adventure! - Loved how it’s nestled among the trees and so close to Silver Lake and Ski Resorts.
It’s very rustic and quaint 😊
No central air or heat, but they provided a space heater.
Friendly and welcoming! More comfortable beds, more lights that worked. More ADA accessible.
- Mcnutt (9/5): Location, food and staff very friendly - Food was fantastic We only saw maid service once. We were there for a week and had to ask for our trash to be dump and for clean towels.
- Chalise (10/5): Exceptional -
- Olha (8/5): Very good - Breakfast was very good The old carpet in the rooms had a smell
- Karen (10/5): Excellent service! - The service and the food were the best parts. The workers were very friendly and helpful.
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shawn (8/5): Very good -
- Julie (1/5): Didnt get to. - Do NOT USE BOOKING DOT COM FOR THE SILVERFORK LODGE. I got confirmation of reservation and even messaged them thru the system asking about where to park...and received a reply.,I got there snd they could tell I had used booking. Com, but had no room for me. Even tho the confirmation shows pay at checkin. Was a punch in the gut to have to figure out a very expensive last minute place to stay. The person at the desk said they have had issues with booking. What I don't understand is since I messaged them ahead using booking and if they knew they had problems, why didnt they check that my room was held. Super disappointed and am only listing all this so others can know and they can do better on reservations. NA
- Bruce (6/5): Room priced was high for quality but the breakfast made up for it. - Breakfast and location Beds were very uncomfortabl
- Dave (8/5): Cozy lodge in Cottonwood Canyon - Charming log lodge in the cooler Cottonwood Canyon southeast and at higher elevation but only a half hour from Salt Lake City. The lodge has a wonderful restaurant with outdoor seating among the trees and an excellent chef. We had the tomato onion jam pork chops which were great, and a very good breakfast. Staff was attentive and helpful. Our bed was comfortable and we had a good shower. Our room had a fan but no air conditioning so was a bit warm and stuffy. The room was small and being older did not have many electrical outlets. Also no TV, but that was not a problem for us. A balcony would have been wonderful but probably hard to add to an old lodge.
- Thomas (6/5): - Check in was random, hap hazard, unprofessional and lacking basic & needed information. Girl gave us wrong key and didn't explain that second key was to side entrance and needed after 8:00pm.
- Julie (7/5): Staff - great! Room and food - meh. - Staff was excellent - very helpful and accommodating. Rooms are very spartan, no frills. Transaction didn't go through from Booking.com, but luckily they still had a room available (but not the one I had booked - that was disappointing). The food was okay, but not super amazing for the price.
- Kevin (8/5): - This is a small 7-room property which operates primarily as a restaurant/bar, which was closed by 9pm. The staff was very nice and friendly. The rooms are rustic/quaint in decor and there is heat but no A/C.
FREE BREAKFAST is included and it’s VERY GOOD! Not just a limited menu or a small buffet, but access to the FULL MENU. I had steak & eggs every morning and it was always top notch.
There is no actual front desk, so I checked in with the restaurant personnel. This is basically a bed & breakfast, but instead of private owners, it’s run by the restaurant.
I was part of a wedding group and we had a great time. Don’t expect fancy or full-featured… it’s more comfortable and rustic. But the price (I paid about $120/night was very reasonable for the area and the included breakfast makes it a VERY good value.
- Vasco (7/5): Good -
- Naftali (4/5): Disappointing -
- Joseph (10/5): Great Getaway - Relaxing Lodge. Great food and excellent staff down the road from Solitude
- Kevin (10/5): - Any member Oct the staff I dealt with was courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. The included breakfast was outstanding, as was the waitress service. While I was there in early May and didn’t deal with any cold weather, the presence of a space heater in my room indicates that adequate heat could be a concern during winter months.
- Mary (8/5): - Lovely setting, cute room. Very good food at restaurant. Star was courteous and helpful.
- Alex (8/5): Lovely, intimate ski lodge, but important to have your own car - The place is super cozy, with a very log cabin feel, having a warm wood stove in a public sitting area and big fireplace always going in the dining room. The sauna is big, hot, and pristine. One of the highlights is the free breakfast consisting of anything on their excellent menu, and I particularly enjoyed the bananas Foster French toast. Although inconvenienced by the restaurant being closed a couple nights a week, they left us very tasty complementary sandwiches, which was a nice touch. Staff were warm, welcoming, and helpful. The location is gorgeous, and with a car, would be ideal...please see below for our experience without a vehicle. The location, while normally a highlight of the property, in our case caused us significant difficulty without having a car. We had read somewhere that the hotel ran a shuttle to Solitude/Brighton, but that apparently is no longer being offered - it would have made our stay MUCH better. The lodge is on a ski bus stop, but actually getting onto a bus proved problematic. The buses are not super reliable currently, and often were 100% full by the time they arrived at our stop, having filled up down in town (or up at the mountain, in the case of us trying to catch a downhill one on the day of our departure). The driver in those cases waved us off and sped by, leaving us to wait 30-60 minutes, walk, or find another means of transit. It was also an inconvenience that many of the outlets in our room either didn't work or were so worn out the plugs wouldn't stay in them without being propped by something.
- Michael (10/5): Perfect for my family!! - Very comfortable and excellent food!
- Dale (9/5): Perfect for our needs. - Excellent food and staff. Staff was knowledgeable about the area, offering good advice, suggestions. Expectations for a rustic lodge fully met. The sourdough pancakes and bison burger are incredible! Bathtub floor was a bit bowl shaped, rather than flat. Had to be careful to not slip. Some anti-slip material might be helpful. Late breakfast start time - had to skip breakfast a couple days in order to avoid the traffic going up to the ski resorts. And, missing those sourdough pancakes is a crime!
- Aurelie (8/5): charming cabin like feeling - comfy, cosy rooms sound isolation is not good
- Sarah (9/5): Superb -
- Mark (10/5): Highly recommended! - Friendly, caring staff. Exceptional meals, particularly the complimentary breakfast. Cozy atmosphere. Very close proximity to nearby ski resorts that were accessible by bus. Great value for the price. Highly recommended!
- Jennifer (10/5): - We loved this rustic lodge: nothing at all fancy but the beds are cozy, water was hot and the adorable restaurant was the best! We will definitely return on our next ski trip!
- Lezlie (9/5): We had a wonderful, two night stay at the Silver Fork Lodge. - The location wasn't bad; however, it did require a car or bus to get to the ski slopes. Breakfast was awesome, as was dinner. The wood stove in the Lodge lobby was nice to read by. Our room could have used a little more prep before we arrived. We were short some towels, the sink drained slowly and dripping water from the ceiling, which stopped by that night, was caught in a trashcan that was balanced on the tub. I would say that while the bed was old, it was not terribly uncomfortable. All in all it was worth the cost.
- Harmony (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay in this cozy gem near Brighton and Solitude Mountains!
- Doug (10/5): - Very basic accommodations but great food and friendly staff.
- Richard (4/5): Disappointing - beautiful patio room was cold and very inconvenient.!my husband is on oxygen and climbing the stairs was not ideal
- Joshua (10/5): Exceptional -
- Travis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lindsay (2/5): Non existent - I did not end up staying. Receiving a phone call while on the airplane flying to my destination telling me that the restaurant and only way to eat dinner would be closing early that day and the next. Oh, and the bar closes when the restaurant closes. At 2 pm. Oh, and the fact that the shift manager couldn’t be bothered to stay 30 min past her shift to greet me and show me around since I was the ONLY GUEST CHECKING IN THAT DAY! And to top it off, when I last minute changed hotels because of the utter lack of customer service/facilities, it was after hours so I didn’t call. Well, neither did they the next day to see why I hadn’t checked in.
- Julian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Molly (10/5): great mountain stay! - rustic lodge, small, quiet No refrigerator for extra food storage.
- Aldo (7/5): Good -
- Lisa (10/5): Loved the quiet, comfortable bedroom, warm cozy sitting rooms and wonderful restaurant with excellent service! - Excellent location near the ski resorts; amazing restaurant
- Tawnie (8/5): Very good -
- James (8/5): Very good -
- William (8/5): I would recommend staying here for the historic, rustic experience. We enjoyed it. - The location is great, a nice place to stay that isn't part of a ski resort complex. The historic (built in 1943) nature of the lodge makes it fun. Enjoyed the breakfast, and it being included in the lodging cost makes the cost a better deal. The bed was comfortable, the room was warm, the water was hot. The room is pretty basic, no fridge, microwave, or TV. The fixtures are quite dated, but in a way, this is a part of the character of the lodge.
- Victor (9/5): Superb -
- Trevor (9/5): A lovely place to stay in Cottonwood canyon, lots of walks. Great staff and food. We will be back. - The breakfast menu was excellent, pancakes, waffles, and even steak and eggs, with lovely coffee. The main restaurant had a great selection of meals, steak, fish and chips, meatloaf, Salads, and more, the outside seating area was lovely. We added a third night, we liked it so much. The staff were great, Alex, Sam, and Graham to name a few, who gave good local advice, on walks, and places to visit in the local area. Fly fishing on the Provo river 30 minute drive away. The room was a bit small and dated, but we didn't spend that much time in there, so it wasn't a problem.
- Lewis (8/5): Once we knew where to go, it was an okay stay. The Canyon was worth anything to get out of the heat - the breakfast was awesome. the employees were also awesome had a very hard time finding out where to check in. would never have guessed in a million years that it was the pub/bar register. Finding out how to get to the room was another maze puzzle. We had to ask repeatedly the very busy workers where the dickens to go. LOL
- Kent (10/5): - Nice
- Elizabeth (5/5): pretty but wouldn’t stay again - Beautiful views of the canyon Room was super dirty, floor was not even vacuumed
- Maria (8/5): Very good -
- Wayne (6/5): - It was clean and the staff was great but the rooms were old. No microwave, fridge or TV. Had to go downstairs to a common room to watch TV. No ice machine. The room was very small.
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional - location. small.
- Karen (8/5): - Pros-
Beautiful surroundings
Amazing restaurant (free breakfast!)
Cute, cozy log cabin feel
Very comfy bed
Cons-
Dirty (popcorn bits in bed sheets when we arrived, cobwebs everywhere)
Loud - on one side of the building you have road noise, on the other side you have restaurant noise
Basic Amenities- They did’t have shampoo!
- Candice (8/5): Refreshing - If you’re looking for the comfort and frills of a chain hotel, this is not it! This lodge is owned by the mayor, and is quaint and quirky. I absolutely loved this as a nice getaway from the valley, the heat and the crowds. Didn’t know that the restaurant closes after lunch on a Monday, but we were able to find a pizza place open up the road. Breakfast was amazing.
- Amber (10/5): - The food was amazing i had the blackened salmon and my husband had the steak so.... good. The carrots are yummy. A little pricey but good.
- Phil (10/5): - Great breakfast, rustic room.
- Edward (10/5): - Wonderful breakfasts, wonderful staff in restaurant, cozy lodge. Very clean. Condition of room: no drawer pulls on bureau, hole in floor covered by rug, paintings on walls of English countryside with fox hunting-not a big deal but not the best choice. Overall I really enjoyed staying at the lodge. The breakfasts were wonderful as was were all servers. I would return for sure.
- Richard (6/5): - "Rustic" rooms, no coffee maker, tv., etc. Delicious breakfasts and generous offerings (included)
- Mark (6/5): Milking the cow - This property has two great features. First the public bus stops in front of the hotel and the ride is 5 minutes to Solitude. Second, the food in the restaurant is great value. Portions are made for mountain men.
Unfortunately, these positives are balanced out by negatives. The property was was acceptable 40 years ago when skiing and staying in the canyon was still bohemian. Since the owner has not made any significant investment in the real estate. The place needs simple things like sound insulating windows (the building is 20 feet from what has become a very busy road) and removal of the wood burning fireplace in the lodging area that leaves you smelling like smoke and wishing for clean air. A hot tub would be a nice feature, but with nobody but restaurant staff who one or two also act as lodging managers. there is no one to keep the chemicals in the water balanced.
Bottom line, the building has exceeded its economic life. The owner knows this and that it is a tear down for a new mixed use development. Any money invested is unwise. He is just keeping it running to live on the cash flow until someday when he decides to sell for redevelopment.
- Tracy (10/5): Ski trip - We will book this again. Staff was so great and food was too! Loved our stay. Easy to get to slopes.
- Gregory (10/5): - The food from the Restaurant is top notch as well as the staff. Convenience to the local ski resorts is perfect with a local bus stop at the front door of the lodge.
We loved our stay and will return for trips both in summer and winter.
- Rachel (10/5): - It was a 2 min drive from Solitude mountain and a 7 min drive to Brighton.
- Joseph (2/5): Place needs serious Upgrades - I was excited to stay at the Silver Fork Lodge, it was very close to ski resorts and was sold on its rustic look. Boy was I fooled. First, let me say this if for the lodge only, the restaurant was fine and food was good. I now know why they dont put many pictures on on the website of the rooms. I stayed in the family suite, upon checking it, I was immediately taken aback by the number of space heaters in the room. I then knew why, the main heat in the bunk bed room did not work at all. The heater in the main room, worked, but looked extremely old and the thermostat fell apart when adjusting the heat. Next on the list was the shower curtain, upon opening it, the rod fell completely off the wall and I was unable to repair myself. Lastly the noise, this place is right on the road and every car that comes by sounds like its in your room. This place is in serious need of renovations, specifically because I think its a major fire hazard waiting to happen. I booked 4 nights. and left after 1, It was that bad. Upon my complaints, I was asked if it was the no TV's that was my issue, no it was not, I was aware of that going in to it. Also no mini fridge in the rooms, even though that was not a major issue. I didn't even fight the refund as their policy is clear, although I feel like I should have been offered a partial. I hope this review can help others.
- Darlene (10/5): - Perfect location for lots of trails and good go between for Salt Lake and Park City. Only thing bad was no TV in room and there was a wedding which took room with TV. No table in room so it was difficult to play cards or do something while wedding was going on downstairs. Could have left the restaurant area open with the tables for guest. Just a suggestion. Breakfast was awesome!! Definitely would come back again.
- JOHNNY (2/5): - Check in is 4-8. We arrived at 4. Not one person was on the property. There was a note taped to the door to tell me how to check in. No staff, no other guests. The empty feeling was scary. No TV. We left and didn’t even spend the night.
- Qianzi (8/5): - The environment and food are excellent!!! But the bedding and other services for staying overnight is moderate. For the price we are OK. However, we felt the the bedding and other services, like lighting, air-conditioner, soap, facial tissue provision would not cost too much.
- Andrew (8/5): AandN - A rustic/retro experience! Rooms are up a flight of 15 stairs which are a tad narrow. Dining room closed at 6 PM but we were able to get meals possibly because there was a rehearsal dinner going on downstairs. TV is in the common area which was quite comfortable. Our room (Wheat room) was very quiet during the night. The bathroom was separate from the sleeping room and the plumbing (toilet, sink, shower) functioned well. Breakfast is complimentary and selected from their regular menu. Huge portions! Anticipate first class mountain and scenic views approaching the lodge from either direction!
