• batchcuter (4/5): A hotel that is really on a budget. - This Hotel is one step above a Hostel. I walked out and found a better place to stay. They made you sign an inventory that's in the refrigerator the room had no towels to take a shower and had plastic chairs to sit on in your room and a fan because the air conditioner was inoperable.
• movingaround441 (2/5): Please. Do not stay here. Dirty and poorly maintained. - Photos and manager are lying to you. Stay away. While the lobby looks very nice the rooms have not been upgraded or painted since before Escobar was born. Sheets were stained and worn and torn. Bed was like a rock. The walls were dirty and there was a big hole exposing plumbing pipes. Clearly management did not care. I paid for two nights and promptly left and they refused to refund me any money . There are many superior choices nearby.

• RanyDanny (4/5): Much room for improvement - Stayed at this hotel for 5 nights while attending an event in Medellin. The location of the hotel is great. In the middle of a very active and commercial area full of restaurants, stores and night life. This is also the first issue as it is very noisy until late at night and with most rooms facing the street, no isolation for noise, it is almost impossible to get a good night sleep. Rooms are basic and just have enough to keep the visitors happy. In my case, a blind was missing and the room had plenty of light all night. It took two tries for the staff to get it right. Service was hit and miss. Medellin is known for its people but it looks like some of the employees were not from the area and it showed. Even basic requests were not treated with the attitude you expect from the customer perspective. I’d say that some of the employees were rude. Positive points are an acceptable restaurant on the premise and the free wi-fi. Overall, not a great experience and lots of room for improvement.

It was clean but located in front of the main Street and the noise at night was bad because there is a casino across the Street and several restaurants around that compete who can play the loudest music. We couldn't sleep much because of the loud noise and unfortunately the 3 nights we spent there were not pleasant at all. I wouldn't recommend to stay at Laureles 70 at all. People at the front desk friendly, except for the person at the restaurant. Only had one breakfast there , not good at all. Air conditioning located in the wrong side of the room is just in front of the bed and very uncomfortable to sleep with air blowing at you.
• Tom (10/5): good stay in the old part of the city - Fine hotel, very reasonable price. Speak Spanish or have a translator (google translator will suffice), the management and most of the help only speak spanish. Need a land-line? Turn left out the door, go half a block for a good price. Church? Turn right, go a block for 7, 8, 9 o'clock daily Mass. Located in an older and more beautiful part of town. Not near the airport, but the hotel may provide an airport pickup. Plenty of available restaurants and transportation. See (and climb?) the 'Rock'. Shop in the huge open market in the city (Huelco - the 'hole'). Taxi's are inexpensive, the elevator train to the center of Medellin is within walking distance. Spring all-year-round. No elevator if you need one. Air conditioned with cable TV. Cuidado! - when crossing the avenues, pedestrians do not have the right-of-way!

The owner needs to change really everything, premises are very old and every day there was a problem inside my room The rest was bad !
• Jack (8/5): Quaint inexpensive friendly hotel with good breakf - The hotel is located in a nice area with many restaurants and all types of shopping. While there were some funky elements, the key point is that I came back to this hotel later in my trip. The cost was reasonable especially compared to others and the breakfast buffet was good. Not only would I stay there again - I did.

• lucy (2/5): Hotel located near restaurants great area - Had reservations since Feb 17 upon arrival on September 2017 I was told they had a problem with the reservation And we were sent to another hotel next to it with no AC no windows poor cleaning not a very good place to stay I refuse to stay there therefore they send me to a third-floor I'm at 66 years old and the place has no elevator I was very upset and therefore they send me about five days later to a first floor to a suite there's no such thing no hot water TV didn't work and AC only work for part of the room too close the one bed and nothing for the rest I do not recomend this hotel the guys in the restaurants were very good good servers good attention but the rest of the hotel it's a NO ☹️ there is a lot of other good hotels around like the Lincoln and many others that you will see on 70 St. there was a convention or 50 people from Puerto Rico to see the pope I do believe they give preference to that group and ignore my reservation
• AThikerVB (8/5): FRIENDLY AUTHENTIC PAISA HOTEL IN A LIVELY PART OF TOWN - Three of us from the United States booked the Hotel Laureles 70 for two weeks at the end of June and early July 2017. We were tourists, but one of us was born in Medellin, and knew Laureles was a decent neighborhood, just off the busy street "70". We booked it as a combination fly/hotel package on CheapTickets ("cheap is good"). We had a quite small "triple room" with three single beds, a night stand, a decent wall mounted TV, a bathroom, and a tiny closet with 4 coat hangers. Candidly, the room was too tiny, not even a chair. I would not recommend this room if you like your privacy! But we were friends, and "cheap is good", right? The room was sufficient for our needs, however, as we spent only sleeping time there. We were on the third floor. There is no elevator. Get used to 3 sets of 17 stairs each. The housekeeping staff was thorough and everything was quite clean. On some days we only needed new towels, so the "no molestar" doorknob hanger was sufficient to leave the room undisturbed. The beds were comfortable. The A/C worked so well, we asked for blankets. The shower (and tub) had lots of hot water. The real pleasure of this hotel is its authenticity. This is not an American chain hotel in the sterile Poblado. Lots of Colombians and other nationalities stay here. The streets are alive. This is 100 feet off the 70 street, which has numerous small, lively cafes, bars, a bakery across the corner, the Jugosa (ice cream store next door), discos (even a "Viejosdisco"--for patrons over 60). The famous restaurant Mondongo is a block away. Like tripe soup? Music is everywhere (so bring ear plugs to sleep if you need them). Laureles 70 has a great staff. I enjoyed very much getting to know the front desk folks, Paula, Juliana, and Daniella. I especially enjoyed my interactions (with my pathetic Spanish skills) with the waiters in its restaurant. Breakfast--arepa (flat cornmeal bread), scrambled eggs, juice, coffee-- was included and pretty good, especially the Colombian coffee. If not included, the cost was 7000 pesos ($2.30 USD). Alejandro and Alex (brothers who speak excellent English) and Simon were the usual waiters; Mauricio usually had mornings. All were super friendly and polite. Suppers there in Hotel Laureles 70 are typical: fried pork or chicken, small salad, yucca. Very affordable, 11,000 pesos, perhaps $3.61 USD. Beer is about $1.25 a bottle. No craft beers; just local beer. The one quite odd and a bit irritating issue is the hotel's placement of a "basket" of various items such as peanuts, potato chips, some kind of chocolate, a toothbrush, toothpaste, which appeared our second day on the night stand. Turns out it was not complimentary, and as we had used the toothbrush, on check out the staff inventoried the room and the basket and we were charged about $2.00 USD for it. A disclosure paper of the costs of the items was under glass on the night stand, but because I don't read Spanish too well and I had placed brochures and papers on top of it, we never paid attention to it. The hotel needs to reevaluate this practice and either include the basket as complimentary or eliminate the practice. It was quite annoying to have the staff ask us to pay for the toothbrush. I mean, seriously, charging for a toothbrush?! Small detail, sure, but nevertheless it was a silly annoyance. Overall? This is a really good place to stay in a very interesting and safe part of Medellin. By calling one day before arrival to the hotel, it will arrange a safe taxi pickup at the MDE airport.
• Lucelly (6/5): Nice hotel close to restaurants, night clubs. - This is a nice hotel for the price. The food was okay but the staff is great very friendly. The food was fine but you can find good restaurants very close to this hotel. Do not forget to bargain. We were over charge in one of our trip and it was one of the counter person who organized the trip. In other words, ask different tour companies before you buy a package. After been there 11 days they charged us for a tooth brush we used that cost only 20 cents in US dollars. Do not use any product they placed in your room. One of the front desk employee set us a trip that cost us 5 times the regular price. So please before you go on a tour ask different companies.

Sent me to a hotel next door. Very small room, NOT like the photos for the Laureles. Checked out for good the next day and ate the three additional nights that I prepaid. Not a good experience

• KenCyclist (10/5): What a great stay in Laureles - As an American who doesn't speak hardly any Spanish at all I travel often around the globe and this hotel is a little gem in Laureles. I am checking out today and the value for what you receive is exceptional. The room was very clean and I stayed in the smallest room single standard they have. Basic accommodations with a beautiful new LG TV, great shower pressure, excellent air conditioner, a nice desk/chair, and a great breakfast. The bed was also very comfortable unlike most I have experienced in South America. The location at Street 70 is hard to beat in Laureles and I would just ensure earplugs are utilized if a light sleeper but that is common most places in Medellin. The real "Win" though is the staff. The front desk manager and John speak very good English and those employees who do not were most patient when using my google translator and always assist with a smile. I honestly can't say enough about how friendly and helpful every one was that I met in that hotel and look forward to coming back as soon as time permits. Whether it's one night or a week this is an exceptional option and I am not one to write reviews on anything really but do so confidently about this hotel.

• Fernando (10/5): - I must said that i was not expecting for my stay to be so great, yes the room did not looked manything like the pics on the site but it was comfortable and kept cleaned by the time i came back from breakfast. The entired personnel was great and very attentive. My only con was being charged for a couple of items that was missing from this little basket of goodies they have in every room I mention this items the first day and was still charged, and of course my reservation was for two adults and i was traveling alone but still wanted that option and one day a friend came too pick up some gifts and stayed about two hours and i was charged for an extra guess. That just blew my mind.so beware of those charges other than that i will definetely stay here on my next visit...
• Fernando (10/5): I will definitely make this my place to stay.... - Omg this hotel was excellent for my visit I was very hesitant to choose a hotel since it was my first visit to Medellin but all that changed the minute I was greeted by Paola at the front desk, everyone was so attentive and warm and the bellman/restaurant attendat jhonjairo was quite the caracter love, love this place. The hotel was by all means nothing like the pictures but it was plenty if you never been to a third world coutry you might not get it, but the price and the excellent service will definitelly bring me back.. Yes a bit noisy on the weekends due to a close by club but it is the best action area in Medellin if you want quiet stay in Poblado pay the extra money and be bored to death. Jajajaja Area is full of life and everything is withing walking distance, its very safe but as with every country use good judgement when out on the street... I walk and used taxi/uber everywhere and it was all good. Also cant leave out the housekeeping staff right on point the moment i walk out of the room they got right on it to get it serviced.. Five star service on a not quite 3 star hotel.. Again loved it... Good luck and enjoy all that Medellin has to offer...
• Biglou44 (10/5): Just like being at home. - This was my first time to Medellin and I will stay here every time I return. The staff was exceptional. The room was very nice and very clean. The hotel was in a very quiet part of town but there was plenty to do in the immediate area. It was a very short taxi ride to the Laureles night life if that is what you want. I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Medellin either for first time or as a return visitor. I was extremely pleased with my entire experience there.

Send to aparthotel. - We arrived late around 9pm and unfortunately we never stayed in this Hotel because they didn't find the reservacion in their system. After waiting more then one hour they "organised" a similiar hotel around 8 blocks away. Arriving there it was a aparthotel (torre corral). Not very clean, no warm water, no nice neighbourhood and still under construction. It is absolutelty not worth staying there. In Laureles 70 we booked breakfast. In the aparthotel we were told to have breakfast in the breakfast room at 7am. Arriving at 7:30am no one was there. Several other guests were also waiting. Service: poor! After complaning with our travel agency they received just inappropriate statements from Laureles 70 and accused us for smoking in the room (we are non-smokers ever since...).
• tdb369 (8/5): Value for your dollar! - Had a late night check in here that went very smoothly even though no one spoke English at that time of night. Google translator on my phone worked great. Spent 3 nights there from Sat until Tuesday. Location is in the middle of the laurels entertainment district and so was a little noisy on Sat but good the other two nights. Breakfast was very good and the staff were friendly. Many good eating places within a short walk. Lots of outdoor places to people watch.

The staff were fantastic and made you feel happy being around them. The room had everything we needed as well as a comfy bed, air conditioning and daily cleaning. The location is phenomenal. Don't stay in Poblado, it's a tourist trap, Laureles is 10X better.

The front desk staff, the wait staff for breakfast (just tell them what you would like for breakfast; they'll make it for you), even the porter Andrés ... I seldom rave about hotels, but this one merits it. Want a beer after the bar closes ... no problem! Have a question about a restaurant? Andrés will walk you to the corner to point out your options. Wifi was awesome. Housekeeping immaculate. Prices are very, very, reasonable. This was my first time in Medellín, but it won't be my last. When I return, I'm staying here again!

• Verified traveler (6/5): Budget Hotel for sure - If you are a woman staying by yourself, it's probably not a good idea to stay here. The staff were pleasant (brush up on your Spanish. Only 1 bellboy spoke English. Even the front desk receptionist didn't understand a word of English)and tried really hard to make it a pleasant stay. The best thing about it was the breakfast. Absolutely delicious. The rest of the stay, though, was sketchy. My door to the outside didn't close properly and had to be jimmied shut. The glass didn't completely connect with the frame so if someone wanted to break in, it was pretty easy. The lighting made it very dismal. There was a tube running from the air conditioner in the bedroom to the shower that ran water all night. If you can't sleep with the sounds of dripping water, tough luck. This also meant there was always a layer of stagnant water on the shower floor. The door has 2 locks on the inside. Only one will protect you because the other can be easily slipped open from the outside. The WIFI was really good. I almost hate to write negative things about this place because the staff really did their best but I wish someone had been more clear in their review so that I wouldn't have stayed there as a single woman, not knowing anyone in Medellin and coming for work. By the time I realized I wouldn't be comfortable, all the other hotel options in Medellin were booked up. If you're the bag-packing or couch surfing across the world type of traveler, this is the perfect place for you.

• Tony (8/5): Great staff! - The service and the attention of the staff is what makes this hotel a good place to stay. The staff is friendly and attentive. As long as you are not looking for luxury because the rooms are small. Breakfast was included. The food was well prepared but choices are limited. The hotel is located on a street with lots of restaurants, banks, casinos, discotheques and lots of street vendors. .The convenience of these amenities make it a benefit but be prepared for some noisy evenings especially on the weekends.The Metro is within walking distance and an easy way to travel within the city. The price was economical for what you get. I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for value and being in the heart of the action.

• Aleyda (4/5): Good location, bad restaurant - This hotel is in a great location, the rooms are clean, the staff is very professional, however, the restaurant is really bad. The breakfast is mediocre and I got food poison from a sandwich I ordered the night before my return to the States. I did not like the taste of the sandwich, but I ate about half of it. In a couple of hours I was deadly sick. I threw up all night and had to run to the bathroom very frequently. I have been home two days and I still feel sick to my stomach.

• Liz (8/5): Family feel - Hotel is in a great area for getting around. Ten minutes walk to the metro station. Taxis really cheap. Hotel have a number of staff who speak English and they are always very helpful and kind. Breakfast is good as yet we have not taken any other meals here.
• littleworldwanderer (10/5): A surprising find of a true gem in Medellin - This hotel was booked for us last minute by another hotel we were staying at in Cartagena. We didnt hold out much hope, considering we would be staying there on New Years Eve. However, upon arrival the staff were so incredibly helpful, welcoming us with a juice or coffee or water. They went above and beyond our expectations. The room was nice with 2 single beds and a nice bathroom. There was a TV with access to free films within the hotel. The location of the hotel is outside the centre of Medellin which, given the 3 million people living within Medellin, is a welcome retreat away from the overwhelming busyness of the centre. It costs about 6,000 pesos to get a taxi. However, when we checked in at the hotel they presented us with a metro voucher to get us in to the city. We got to see all of the sites in Medellin within 5 hours and even got to see the beautiful Cerro Nutibara which was lit up so beautifully at night it was breathtaking. When we returned at 7pm there was a knock at the door and we were presented with a glass of champagne each and some grapes and wished a Happy New Year. The only unfortunate thing was in the area where the hotel is there were no open restaurants, as all places were closed for the New Years Eve celebration. So, it was with a beer that we stayed in and watched the countdown on the Television. Initially it was dissappointing to not bring in the New Year with a party. However, after a great nights sleep, despite the multitude of fireworks, the breakfast was good and again as much coffee and juice as we wanted. They also provided a laptop and have free WiFi to check mails. Colombians overall are incredibly friendly and helpful but the staff of Hotel Laureles 70 were even better.... truly fantastic! Thank you! I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely come back myself.
