• josephine (8/5): - The property is old and the Motel rooms are small especially the bathroom ..the toilet is so close to the wall that you have to sit sideways if you have long legs ..there is no fan in the bathroom and the shower water comes out like a hose and was not adjustable. It was very clean in the room, it was a little musty due to it being at the beach but was easy to air out and after being in there for a while you did not notice it. The RV’s that are parked alongside of the Motel are rather old and run down some. The receptionist was ok at check in but when she had to come fix the tv she was rather short with my granddaughter who tried to help her. It is about a 10 min drive from downtown Coos Bay. The lock on room 8 was not so easy to operate ..it would seem that it was locked but when pushing on it the door would open. All in all it was a pretty good stay ..there is a small kitchenette in the room with fridge and microwave.

• Verified traveler (8/5): Everything you need!! - This lil place is a gem, beautiful inside and colorful on the out. These rooms come equipped with more than what you need inside. The beds, not so comfortable. If you have pets, be careful cause its right along the road way. There was semi beach access, however, there's a few homeless people down there that had a couple tents, and it smelled like poo.

We got the bigger apartment studio that had two bedrooms talked away in the back looked a lot different than pictures on the website and surrounded by older trailers that look like they’ve been there for a while so it was kind of sketch for an office was very nice but when needing new towels and bedding, we were told that we had to bring them down to the office ourselves and they would exchange them and office is only open till 7 P.m.

• William (8/5): Good ol fashioned Motek - Pretty cool place across from a trail to the beach. 3 adults were comfortable. Cooked a tri-tip in the kitchenette range. Laminate floors were perfect because a lot of sandy shoes. Shower was clean and hot. Affordable too.

First, it’s an older motel, good location, the room had an odor to it, the heater worked but it gave off a chemical smell, during the day it’s loud due to remodeling other units, we had to take out your own trash, if you need towels etc you’ll need to go to the office (beige towels, old linens) we always travel with our own towels, pillows sheets & blankets (our choice) kitchenette had what you’ll need (we used our own, again our choice) over priced for what you get. We checked into a different location and happy that we did.

• Y3631XDsusanat (2/5): I've never been treated so poorly - My wife and I and another couple stayed at the Plainview in September. We stayed the night and decided to take them up on some of their clamming or crabbing equipment, but the lady helping us couldn't find the key to the shed. We all went back into the office and that's when everything seemed to go wrong. I don't know if she just became flustered, and we certainly weren't angry, but she raised her voice and screamed for us to leave the office. At first I thought she was joking it was so bazaar and then I realized she was dead serious. We were booked for two nights, we stayed the one night and after the episode, we decided to pack up and leave. We returned to the office to leave our keys and a young man was there. He told us how rude we are and that he was there the whole time and observed the occurrence, but that was a lie. If you decide you must stay at the Plainview Motel, whatever you do, don't ask to use their shellfish equipment!!

Room is very shabby and there is no curtain over the window in the kitchenette, which allows light to come in early in the morning and also limits privacy. The one trash can in the room is located by the entrance door so one has to go over there to deposit both kitchen and bathroom waste.
• Blaine (10/5): Perfect for coos bay. - Coos bay is a favorite for me when riding through oregon. Lots of rides to go on. Coos bay is a fun town. The plainview is clean, cozy and a great place for motorcycles. Will stay again.
• Nicole (8/5): - Very clean room, quiet and felt safe. No AC but lucky your on the Bay so sleeping with window open it was fine. RV property not the best, however felt separate from the RV area. No long curtin in the kitchen area, just short panels. But hung a towel and it did the job for privacy. Biggest thing was quiet and felt safe while we stayed.

Only issues was the two beds. 1st night slept in the one bed and I felt like it swallowed me up was not able to sleep as I move a lot and this was uncomfortable. 2n and 3rd night changed to the 2nd bed as it had two beds…2nd was a little better, but again wasn’t firm enough…hard to explain wasn’t easy to move around roll over felt I had to totally adjust and move my body to get to another spot….almost like the beds didn’t have enough support or mattresses needed to be changed.

• Emily (8/5): - If you’re looking for a bougie stay, this isn’t it, but if you need an affordable, cute, safe, and clean stay, this is a great spot. Every building is covered with paintings of a local artist. It’s quiet and had a kitchenette. The staff at check in was super kind as well!

Totally understandable, when I asked if I (after a long car drive) could make use of a bathroom, it was denied. "We have no public bathroom" was the answer. Less than a few yards away there were bathrooms with a lock code on the door, used by the RV park people. They could have easily accommodated me. I did not appreciate that. Office messy and shabby, not a good first impression. Received a sheet of paper with all the rules and a warning that infractions would cost $250. Warning in the room as well that seafood/crabs were not to be cooked in the room, infraction wld be $250. In all fairness, the motel is old, amenities (bed, bathroom, stove etc.)were old and not attractive, but clean and functioning. Beds were very comfortable. I just don't think the staff was up to par and I will most definitely choose another place to stay next time. Also, I paid d$150 for a night, rather expensive considering it's an old motel and not close to Coos Bay center where the shops and restaurants are. "Plainview Motel" is somewhat of a misnomer as well, there is no view, just a road in front of the motel. I expected noise from that road at night, but that was not the case, no noise.
• Stefanie (6/5): Not what we expected! - Check in was easy. Old run down trailer parking the middle that are not in any of their pictures. Duplex had a extreme musky smell. Some windows didn't have screens. There was no BBQ when the description and amenities mentioned it had a BBQ. I was informed that it was a shared BBQ with the other side of the duplex. She said the neighbors were using it and I could get it when they're done. The neighbors weren't there and I could see the BBQ (not in use). I called the office, again was told the neighbor was using it. I told her the neighbors weren't there and I could see the BBQ(not in use). She kept saying they're using it. Again, I said it wasn't being used. She said she'd call them and see when they were going to be back. I said yes please because if they're going to be a while, I'll cook while they're gone and have it back for them. She hung up and never bothered to get back to me either way. We had to go buy a BBQ since we already had food to BBQ. Not very professional! Aside from that. The place is private with room for the whole family and a private yard for the dogs. The path across the street to the beach was littered with trash the whole way. We travel to the coast often and probably would go back had they been more professional and accomadating,but after this experience that won't be happening.

It's old, and they have done the best they could to update with paint and decent appliances. Great murals on outside. Bed mattress was old and saggy. Blankets old and thin. Room was clean, though the toilet smells. Tiny shower only. Let's leave it at you get what you paid for. I needed a simple, cheap place to stay the night. That's exactly what I got.

• Victoria (10/5): Home away from home - Stayed at the upstairs condo for a night and it was so cozy! Fire place with pizza and a puzzle. The view of the water was amazing and the sounds made sleeping a dream. The apartment was very clean and had everything you would need in a home. We will definitely be back.
• Gina (2/5): - Arrived at the hotel and we had rented house at the top of the RV park. We have been here several times but usually rent the entire house but this time we just rented side B. When we got there the house was freezing someone had opened windows and no heater was on. Had to go to office and ask for toilet paper because they had left one roll in the house for a 3 day stay. Woke up in the morning to cook breakfast in the full kitchen and the pans were not usable, small and extremely scratched was worried about getting metal shavings in food. I ended up driving to Goodwill and bought a frying pan. The couch is a hideabed but it’s more like a torture chamber can’t sit on it for long or your back will go out. They have a wood stove with a shed full of wood but we were told we couldn’t use it by the manager but the small heaters were barely able to heat up the house so we used the wood and the wood stove. It’s a place set up to sleep 8 but if you want to sit somewhere bring some chairs only sitting for 4 people and one of them is the torture chamber couch. The beds are not horrible and they have a full kitchen but it’s not fully stocked have to bring a can opener if you might need one. Like I said earlier I have stayed here several times but this time just too many things to ignore. If they need me to I can bring over a couch for people to sit on.
• Melissa (4/5): - This property does not look the greatest at all. My kids asked me what kind of hotel I took them too. Unfortunately it was not what we had expected or as it was presented.
• Janna (2/5): - I will say the outside of the building is beautiful, with that being said, the inside is a different story. The maid cleaned it to the best of her ability. However the owners should be ashamed of them selves. What they charge people they could afford to fix all the things that were broken or falling apart. The floor linoleum is cracked and a trip hazard, the bathroom is a hot mess, my husband had to take the roll of toilet paper off the wall to squeeze his way in to sit down (and he’s not that big of a guy) also the first day the shower nozzle (which was chest height) sprayed water all over the place from the fitting and the second day when my husband took a shower the whole head came off in his hand. The shower stall it’s self had many holes, cracks, missing pieces and when you stepped into it, it felt like you were going to fall thru it, the water backed up into the stall if you were in it longer than 3 minutes. The wall plug ins are right above your headboard so your cords sit in your lap, you can also feel every spring in the mattress as well. When I went to the front counter and spoke to the lady there about the shower head coming off she said that the manager was gone and she didn’t have another room, so she couldn’t do anything. Also if you decide to stay there you should be pot friendly as that was all we could smell while we were at the room. The neighbor sneezed and I said bless you and she said thank you… thru the wall.

• B1483FTmarym (10/5): Pleasant - We stayed in the 1 bedroom cabin. We liked that the property was a short drive to some of the areas we wanted to visit. Our room looked recently updated and included a full kitchen and a table just outside the front door and our own parking spot . Having been on the road for awhile the laundry facilities were very convenient. Mistie provided several restaurant recommendations which worked out great for us. There was no AC, but temperatures were moderate so it wasn't a big deal. Having some standing fans would have helped, but overall I would stay again.

There are little oddities in the room.... but that makes for an interesting stay. It is a low budget motel. Interesting and adequate for a brief stay. No frills!

The rv park which is connected to the hotel is more like a trailer park for permanent residents and looked pretty rundown which I think is where some of the bad reviews come from. Motel itself is very nice and updated and clean inside. Lady in office was very helpful and friendly. Fun trail to the beach across the street. Kids loved finding small crabs & jellyfish. We had very 4 flat pillows in our room for 4 people and they said no extra when I asked the front desk. Everything else was great.

We were told something wrong with pool they would let us know if it was able to be used,they never let us know we happen to see someone in it.we asked for towels we got a big run around.Finally got towels next day. The lady in the evening is very rude should not be working customer service.when we complained about her they knew right off who it was they said she gets complaints all the time.we had no bathtub stopper.The gal and guy in the morning during week were awesome Arianna and delphin.i will never stay here plus I will spread the word.Terrible. .

• Katherine (6/5): - Stayed for 1 night only and can't imagine anyone staying longer. Very outdated and tiny. When we entered the office, their age 10ish child opened a door and screamed at us. This is obviously a super casual business, they're not striving for higher reviews. The linens were clean. The shower was stained. Vinyl flooring over a buckled/uneven floor. Strong marijuana odor at check in area. It felt like a shelter. This was an experience of a stay, we didn't turn around and run, but we'd never stay here again.

Pluses were: kitchenette was very useful, quiet and clean room, very dark for good sleep and room temp was solid. Things that could be improved: couch was broken, funky set-up for ceiling fan and center light...iykyk. My girls slept on two separate beds that were located in the living room. A little strange but alright. This place is solid. Nothing fancy but will serve you well if you are simply looking for a "base". Try Shark Bites in downtown Coos Bay and head over to Millers at the Cove for excellent clam chowder and the best (original) rajun cajun crab soup. You will not be sorry!

The trailers behind are scary and we were nervous all night. Not to mention the neighborhood was really unsafe too. DO NOT COME HERE WITH FAMILY!

I sat there trading a book and enjoyed the sunset The room was clean and bed was great. Misty was so nice to us. We are looking forward to our next visit..

• Jackie (10/5): A nice night - We had a nice night at the hotel. We were warmly welcomed and given assistance when necessary. We were very happy with our stay.
• Jeccadawn (6/5): overpriced, no a/c, road noise - Well it looked cute from the outside & it was close to sunset bay. Not cheap for a poor bed, no a/c and lots of road noise. At least it had a kitchenette to make breakfast before getting back on the road.

• Kathy (8/5): - The motel is very cute with all of the buildings painted with ocean related murals. The rooms are nice with a small kitchenette. The beds were just ok, comfortable enough to sleep. However, the walls are thin and you can hear your neighbors every move. There is no ocean/bay view. You can hear the traffic since you are only about 50 feet away from the 2 lane coastal highway. Traffic was much lighter after 10 pm. I didn't hear any cars until 5 or 6 am. That was on a Friday morning. Overall it was a good place to stay, and I would visit again. We had 2 queen beds, and paid $125 for 1 night.

• H2584YSdeborahm (4/5): Hit or Miss - We booked 3 nights bc of proximity to great beach. At check-in, we were told that the bathroom sink in our room drains slowly because it doesn't have a proper roof vent, so only use that water sparingly. We were careful, but the sink was completely stopped up and not draining at all. When we asked to have it fixed, we were told that staff could not come in the room if we or our belongings were in the room! That was going to be the end of it, but I countered, "We can't stay in the room without a working bathroom sink." The solution was to move us to another (pet-friendly) room. We lucked out. This was one of the rooms that had been "upgraded." It had better mattresses, more functional kitchen (more than 2 forks, 2 knives and 2 spoons), and a much improved bathroom (altho the toilet was installed facing the short wall instead of into the room, so knees are up around your ears when on it). I'd left rings in the previous room, and was able to go back to retrieve them - nice housekeeping staff all around. This was good enough for us to stay. The full-timers in the RV park section were quiet, the road was sometimes loud, but we saw ravens, eagles, great blue herons and lots of sea birds. The beach was fabulous. We checked out clamming materials and had fun with that. Our dog was in heaven. We used the outdoor hose to wash her off, used our own towels from home to dry her off, and left minimal dirt in the room. This place is not for everyone, that's true, and I think it's a bit hit or miss. We made the best of it. Probably wouldn't stay there again, but then, the Washington & Oregon coast identities are full of these funky little old hotels.

• Jon (10/5): Amazing, comfortable, close to town and beach! - This place is amazing! We had a great two-night stay. It's cozy, beautifully remodeled, kitchenette is great, beds comfortable; we took an extra fan and wished we had an 8' extension cord for it, but other than that, no complaints!
• Terrance (10/5): - Beautiful views of the bay. Fully equipped kitchen with washing machine/dryer. Sun shines in so the flat was really hot on arrival so needed to keep doors open. We closed the blinds the next day which really helped. Very tricky getting the television to work. Lovely stay.
• M. (8/5): - I had a comfortable lodging. Well-equipped kitchen except that there were no pans that could go in the oven. CAUTION: At check-in I had to sign an agreement that there would be no refunds for any reason. If I had gotten Covid and had to leave partway through the week, I would have been out a lot of money.
• Wanda (8/5): - They have renovated the rooms of the little strip motel. They did a good job although the mini kitchen cabinets were clearly just repainted. The outside of all the buildings have been painted with interesting murals representing this coastal area. Pretty cool.
• Angelina (8/5): Good spot - Good affordable place ! We needed to stay here for two nights while we conducted some research off the coast. It was cute and the condition was good! Some cons were that the sheets didn’t fit the bed so they kept sliding off in the night. Also the parking lot was very tiny. I had my smaller car so it was fine for the size but if I had my truck it definitely wouldn’t have fit behind all of the other trucks and bushes. They should remove the hedge to make more space for the cars. Our tv remote didn’t work so the channel was stuck on Tour de France. I loved that there was a little kitchen. I would stay here again for more field research.
• Laura (10/5): - Rented the condo by the water. I was so pleasantly surprised by the entire place. Clean, well-equipped, and quiet. The only drawback was the mattress. Great place that I would reserve again!
• Akiko (2/5): Spacious room, but everything was outdated&DIRTY. - Avoid!!! Room was dirty and the carpet was super sticky!!(looks like they mopped the kichen floor since it was wet upon arrival, but not sure if they actually cleaned the rooms before our arrival since there were still lots of sand on the floor!!) Everything was so old and outdated.... from the floor to ceiling, couch, curtains, dining table and chairs, stoves, fridge, chipped plates and cups, wall, and "popcorn" ceiling.(I thought these ceiling were long gone!) It was nice to have a large jet spa in the room, but it was dirty. The rods that held shower curtains were so loose that it actually fell on my son when he opened the shower curtain after taking shower. They only provided us 2 bath towels / 2 hand towels for a family of 5, so we asked them to give us 3 extra and they were not happy about it. Pretty stingy. There were a lots of long-term residents there(trailers) that look pretty shady. Fortunately they were not close to our motel room, so we didn't have to see their belongings/gabages scattering around. Overall, it was pretty disappointed and it was not what we expected for $170/night. Next time, we will stay in beautiful city of Bandon instead of dingy Coos Bay even if it means it will cost us $400/night.
• Varaporn Jenny (4/5): Quality not worth money - Room was recently updated but not building code compliance. Space between the wall and toilet is narrow and no room to use toilet. Kitchen is small next to refrigerator so can’t move around. The stove doesn’t have hood so smoke alarm went off whilst cooking. Bed sheets are not that clean.
• Lori (6/5): - The duplex was as expected however the pictures showed it to be next to tje ocean and there was no view of ocean whatsoever.
• Gerald W (10/5): Great location for sightseeing - Very nice for the price. 2bd kitchenette. Recently remodeled. Felt safe and secure. Best of all it is right along cape arago hiway. Within a few miles from the boat docks in Charleston and directly across the street from the bay. Perfect for clamming. ocean beaches close by as well. Motel still uses a key for the locks though.
• Rachel (10/5): - The room was very clean and quiet. The beds were very comfy as well and the shower had great water pressure. My only issue was the parking lot, which was a bit narrow, making it harder to manuever.
• Mathew (8/5): - Everything was great, not sure if office hours do differ from hours thru online booking differ. Same day booking was easy, but our booking info was delayed so almost missed checking in that day they had gone home but staff was so friendly came back and checked us in and gave us our key. Beware there is a pathway across the street to a beach small area but there are homeless people there with dogs so be careful we had a dog run up on us aggressively and they dont care to be considerate when their dog tries to bite didnt bother to call the dog back, but my husband made the dog get back so we could leave. Other than across the street everything was great.
• Mark (10/5): Quiet condo unit on the bay! - We enjoyed our stay in this quiet upstairs unit overlooking the bay. You couldn't be any closer to the water and the tides coming and going twice each day were awesome. The unit had all we needed for our stay. Comfortable bed/good wi-fi/full kitchen/cable TV. This unit is not located in the RV park but a couple of miles down the road. Loved the quiet location and scenery. Would definitely stay here again!
• Kirsten (10/5): - We stayed in the B side of the duplex and it was perfect for us. A little secluded, big open area inside, kitchen, dinning, bedroom and a HUGE jetted bathtub. It was amazing. I’ll definitely be bringing my family back. Price is great too. I love that they didn’t charge extra per kid or at all. I can’t wait to come back
• Stephen (8/5): Our regular place. - Older with charm, and renovated most rooms, this is a family friendly place. All rooms have kitchenettes. There is clamming and crabbing equipment available to borrow, free with stay (at writing). Clean and friendly. This is not the place for luxurious accommodations. It's clean and comfortable. • 777KathrynP (2/5): Horrible mattresses! - This place is very sketchy. I was booked for 4 nights but left after 2. I could not sleep in the sunken old decrepit mattress! I could not even sit on the side of it. The property is trashy and the RV'ers are not temporary. The owner spent money to 'remodel' the place but then used very old used mattresses. Disgusting! You can't even open the curtains during the day because the walkway is right by your window, so anyone walking to their car is looking in at you. Very depressing place. What a rip off!

• arcticharris (6/5): Let Folks Know Your RV Park Is Filled With Live In Tenants - The front of this place is super cute. Check in was easy. Who ever did the plumbing was a joker. There was no way to sit forward on it?? We had to angle our butts to sit. Glad I am not over 6ft or pregnant, There really should be a posted quiet time from 10pm-8am like most RV places. Your year round residents kept the whole area up through out the night with the party they were having.
• Verified traveler (6/5): - It was a really nice place, although the bathroom shower was difficult to figure out or didn't work at all. I ended up taking a bath. Old coffee was left in the coffee maker. You get a nice view of the bay, birds flying and an immense pool of water in front. It's a place to relax, but can't do much walking.

There was also a closeby picnic table for outdoor dining. A small single story motel with parking right outside door. Nice new towels.

• JennFur2000 (2/5): Never again! - We stayed there one time for 2 nights and thought it was really cute. We booked a whole week in Unit A and B for our family to get together. When we first arrived we let them know that the shower was not draining and black hair was coming up out of the tub but they never sent anyone to fix it! Because of that we didn't take showers in that bathtub. The cabinets were hard to open because they didn't have any knobs, the barbecue they have doesn't work and the entire week they never offered us new toiletries or towels so we just used what we had. After we left they charged my credit card $250 because the towels were dirty, the refrigerator was dirty and the bathtub was full of hair (not our hair!) I'm disputing the charge and will NEVER go there again!

• C3432BSmaryh (10/5): Great Motel - Very Quiet and peaceful - We stayed here for 2 nights. Beds were comfy and had a cute kitchenette. It was so peaceful and quiet and the rooms were very clean. Even though it’s close to the highway the highway noise wasn’t much and slept really well. You have got to see the awesome murals painted everywhere. You can’t go wrong by staying here and very reasonably priced.
