Guest Reviews
- alastair (6/5): a bit tricky to check in automatically - Arrived about 9.30pm and entry was difficult with the automatic machine- we had 2 rooms booked but only 1 was made available via the email, although both rooms were booked on the same booking
- Dominik (2/5): - Check in process is the worst you can imagine. Took us 45min to get to the room.
- Melanie (6/5): - Check in was not easy and had to call after hours for help to get in . Asked for ground floor room , not available , so we were put on 2nd floor !!! . Bed side light worked but the fitting was extremely loose !
Room was clean and mattress was very comfortable . We have stayed here many times but never had these problems before .
- ROtraveltime (4/5): Noisy, unclean, didn’t feel safe - Noisy ground floor room that opened straight on to car park (rooms 3&4) - woken up at 1.30am with people coming back from nightclub and from 4-5am with people talking loudly right by the window.
Room needs a proper clean, refresh.
Supposedly an accessible room, but impossible to open the door without walking straight into the bed.
Decor not as moser or nice and usual Feels like an old Premiere Class room taken over by B&B.
Has broken the positive consistent experience we’ve had with B&B hotels over the last few years.
Will definitely use Ace hotels now instead
- mougenot (10/5): - Impeccable
- Melanie (10/5): - Would have liked a downstairs room . But didn’t happen even though I asked to reserve at time of booking , many weeks before arrival . Receptionist did apologise on arrival for not being able to give us this .
- Peter (8/5): - Very reasonable room for its price. Pitty there is nothing on walking distance like bar, restaurant or any other amusement feature. Very friendly staff.
- Andy (10/5): Thank you - Arrived very late but had been left instructions to get to rooms very much needed as people where stressed. Thank you
- Norma (10/5): - Helpful very welcoming staff member/manager. Quick easy check in. Very clean comfortable room (14) with lovely view and glimpse of the Seine. Super breakfast. All very good value. Will recommend to family and friends. Thank you.
- Melanie (10/5): - Suited our needs for a night with a dog
- Graeme (10/5): - Clean and handy
- 412christelv (6/5): Unfriendly staff who give a bad image - I am used to go to B&B which are good for quality/price. This time arriving at midnight I had some issues booking directly on their website. It was impossible to get my key at the entrance. I had to call assistance and then wait to get a miserable woman called Marie who was able to finally give me a room…
I think Marie should change her job to something else as clearly she forgot her smile at home with her customer service skills.
- Roman (2/5): - All around horrible experience. Dirty and broken rooms . Too level of disrespect and rude behaviour. Smelly rooms, dirty towels and sheets
- Verified traveler (4/5): Would not recommend this hotel. - Not up to the usual standards of the BB franchise. Very tired looking and in need of refurbishing. Bathroom especially poor and very tight for space. Toilet paper ran out on the evening of our one night stay, obviously not checked by cleaners. Shower didn’t drain properly.
Receptionist seemed flustered and couldn’t find our booking.
- Alan (8/5): Handy overnight stay - A convenient overnight stay on the way north. Room was clean and quiet despite nearby main road. Bed and pillow surprisingly comfortable.
- Stephanie (8/5): Bon rapport qualité prix - Tres bon accueil. Tres bon rapport qualité prix
- Howard (8/5): Pleasnantly surprised - A budget hotel but certainly wasn't a budget-quality stay.
- hortense (10/5): bon hotel.
- Neil (6/5): So so - Useful as a stopover, on site parking. The local area is not the best. Comfy bed. It was fine for me but perhaps not if it was longer than a couple of nights.
- Kim (8/5): Good stop over hotel in the way to the Charente. - The car park gate slid shut just as we drove up. Reception was closed, but I used the help bell to speak to a man who was really helpful. He gave me the code I needed to open the gate. Paying via the machine was easy and the receipt me my room number and access code.
I booked the room that morning via the Hotels.com. Finding a twin room (I was travelling to the Charente with my adult son) with parking at such short notice was not easy, so it was fine that the room was basic. Everything worked. The bed was a bit hard and we only had one rather flat pillow each. We also only had one bath towel each and a bath mat, so I didn’t bother washing my hair.
I was very grateful to find a room with twin beds at such short notice. It was just a few hundred metres off our route, which really helped at the end of a long drive down from Yorkshire!
- olliemcdaid (10/5): Great Value for Money - Stayed one night in this cosy well located B&B. A few issues but couldn’t argue with the price of it. Very clean and felt secure in the room. Overall a great stay, a few minor issues with facilities and slow checking in with staff but again considering the price it’s a great value for money stop.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Hard to find the hotel no signage around when you driviny
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean and comfortable , breakfast ok for the price.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Easy check in out of hours and a basic vending machine on site for refreshments or snack. As a family of four, the room was very quiet, but was not clearly signposted that it was accessed from outside! So took us a while to find it! Overall, a good basic hotel for an overnight stop
- caroline2189 (10/5): So good we re-booked - We stayed here twice at the end of July/beginning of august, on the way from Calais to the south of France.
The room was fine for the price, breakfast was lovely and the internet was absolutely brilliant! We were so impressed that we re-booked for our journey home.
On the way out we checked in at reception which was fine, on the way back home we checked in using the machine and this was really useful and straightforward, we would definitely stay here again.
The rooms locked with codes rather than keys or cards which made it easier to get in and out rather than looking for the key.
- Michael (10/5): - Good for a quick overnight stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Used this property many times and generally all is fine. However, room 13 has a bad smell from the drains. This was the second time we have had this room so nothing has been done since our first complaint. The location is convenient for us but we have said that we will not accept this room again.
- Pat (6/5): - Room smelled horribly of cigarettes . You need to follow through on your no smoking policy. There was no one in the reception otherwise I would have asked for another room.
- Fufa (8/5): - No frills hotel, staff polite, convenient. Room smelt, blocked drain outside. Staff acted promptly.
- Fufan (10/5): - Close to road links. Friendly staff, no issues. No hairdryer or coffee facilities in room.
- Donna (6/5): Ok for a 1 night stay - Area was very rough looking. Room very basic with a musky smell. Pillows uncomfortable. Close enough drive to Rouen town so plenty of places to eat nearby.
- Disapointed (4/5): Pity about the smell in the bathroom - Visit was tainted by the drain smell in the bathroom. We assumed the drain smell was due to the room being closed up but running water down the plug holes and leaving the fan running didn't cure it.
- Kevin (6/5): Bof! - Industrial area and suited more for commercial travellers on a budget.
- Rod (4/5): Rooms too small - Room very very small, air con loud, shower small, old fashioned, many better B and B around
- Graham (2/5): Very bad check in experience - Despite receiving confirmation e-mails from Expedia we were not expected.
That said we were eventually offered our rooms however it took over 1 hour for the hotel manager to get the room code validations from his regional/head office.
I would add this was obviously not his fault.
We then paid but were then asked for a further payment or no room would be available.
A terrible experience considering we had an elderly infirm relative with us.
Would never use B&B again (nor Expedia if we found them on their site).
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very pleased with this hotel - Always pleased to use this hotel as an overnight stopover.
Staff are very professional and helpful.
- Angela (8/5): - Pleasant enough. Can't fault hotel for the money paid.
- johnsT3534OA (6/5): Overnight stay - Not up to usual standard of Band B hotels in terms of bathroom, bed ok, room small but all that was necessary, welcome good. No plug in sink, fixing of toilet seat broken/missing, shower not as good as normal for this chain. Location not pleasant.
- Patricia (10/5): - pleasant welcome. good clean rooms. excellent breakfast. parking area could do with some attention: the bays are too narrow and there was a small truck parked up in the only space he could find, making it a bit awkward for anyone coming after him. Nonetheless a most pleasant stay.
- Nigel (8/5): Good vale comfortable room and good breakfast. - Bed very comfortable. Pillows very good.
Room small but ok.
Very strong smell of fish in room 301. Not sure why! Very strange. Never had it before.
- Fufan (8/5): Hotel fine - Hotel OK only problem was arrived late and no refreshments provided in room and had no change for the machines. Unable to have a drink until breakfast next morning.
- Denise (10/5): Always perfect! - Always perfect!
- 178melvyna (6/5): A very small bedroom... - The hotel is nice, modern, clean and the receptionist was charming, friendly, efficient and helpful.
However, our room and bathroom were very small. Had it not been for a provided nook behind the beds, we would have probably had to keeep our luggage on the beds all night, as there was so little available floor space - not even room for 2 people to pass each other!
The room and bathroom were clean and the beds were comfortable.
OK for a 1 night stay, but not for longer.
- Kutslo (2/5): Stop over from hell - We stayed here overnight on route to the Dordogne on a family road trip with friends. We were finding it hard to find accommodation in Rouen at the right price to host our party of 7 so decided as it was only one night we would book this hotel.
On arrival there was no one at reception and as we had booked through booking.com our booking reference etc would not work with the auto check in machine. thankfully there was an intercom to hand that transferred us to head office (?) in Paris where the operator gave us a booking reference that worked. We went to our room to find that it was below par. The shower room was dirty, the air conditioning unit looked broken and there were ants in the bedroom area. We decided to drop our bags and go into Rouen and hope that someone was on reception when we returned.
Thankfully on our return there was a receptionist on hand as we now couldn't get into our room as the door lock had broken. We explained that the room was dirty and we wanted another which was provided without issue but the receptionist had to spend half an hour with a device on the door just to get it open again so we could transfer our bags. The second room was much better but the whole experience was let down by the location of the hotel which is right next to the local dump.
We decided to go to eat at the steak house up the road as Rouen was too far to drive back into for dinner with the kids in tow. The downside to this was we had to walk across and along a busy dangerous road, through deserted car parks with broken glass and abandoned cars, as you can imagine, this did not set a good tone for the start of our trip.
All in all, a terrible location for a terrible hotel (if you can call it that), especially when for the same money for two rooms you can pick up a nice airbnb property
You live, you learn but we wont be coming back anytime soon, not even for a night, let alone any longer
- Kathmidd23 (6/5): Suitable for one night - We stayed here overnight en route to the Vendee region. We arrived 2o minutes early and self check in was not working. We checked in quite easily and made our way to our room. It was basic but clean.
A window was broken and wouldn't close but the girl on reception came immediately and fixed herself.
For the price we paid (70 Euro for a family room for four) it was adequate for one night but for no longer
- katharine (6/5): Great stopover hotel - This hotel is great for a one night stopover. It is very basic with no frills.
We stayed on route to the Vendee and was on the route and easy to find. Free parking and WiFi
- Verified traveler (6/5): We wanted an hotel in that place for one night. - We wanted an hotel for a one night stop with breakfast. It was fine.
- lorna (6/5): - Room was ok clean but could do with updating only 2 pillows for double and no kettle:(
- Traveller (4/5): Overnight stop - Hotel was very very basic room was tiny. Bathroom was not very clean
- Anthea (6/5): Convenient stop over. - An excellent sleep stop forums enroute for going north or south.
- Anne (10/5): Over Nighter - Cheap accommodation. Overnight stay from UK. Large room, really comfy bed. Staff excellent
- ronald (8/5): - traffic noise heard during the evening and interrupted sleep during the night
- Gillian (6/5): Fine for a one night stop en route. - Our room was quite spacious, as we asked for an accessible room and were given a disabled room on the ground floor. Bathroom was therefore spacious too, but the shower had a plastic curtain of dubious cleanliness at the bottom. To eat, go into the Courte Paille Comptoir which is attached to a nearby hotel for a pleasant environment and nice staff.
- Alex (4/5): Overpriced below average experience - This hotel is designed for commercial drivers, crew members and other workers travelling on business. It's not meant to be a place for families or tourists. And places there are bought by the worker's employer companies in bulk in advance, so they don't really care about quality of service that much as long as workers don't protest.
In result - this is a below standard place with above standard prices. Not worth it at all unless you're a night driver and your company pays for you. The only reason we've stayed there is because this was the only available place in the area.
- Michael (8/5): OK for overnight stay when on route going south - Good hotels for overnight stops only basic facilities
- Denise (10/5): - everything in this hotel is good. I stay here whenever I am travelling in the area.
- Tony (4/5): Very basic - Room smelt of cigarette smoke. Bathroom facilities were poor.
- Carol (6/5): Convenience over comfort? - Have been before, convenient and easy to find.Difficult to park as we arrived at 9.30 pm .Large Lorraine's there ,not very family orientated. Ate before we arrived as the only restaurant we know nearby is Macdonalds. Scaffolding around hotel ,painting perhaps.
- Deborah (6/5): good bolthole for quick kip - We picked this hotel as a "bolthole" for our drive across france. it was fine for what we needed, which was somewhere to lay our heads after a long day travelling. would recommend for similar visitors, however if I was looking for somewhere to stay for a long time I might look again. the checkin process was simple and efficient and if I was driving across france again I would stay again
- Alan & Do (8/5): Good location and ideal for a overnight stay. - Hotel is in a good location for a overnight stay before continuing you journey south. Basic facilities but clean and staff very helpful. No tea making facilities the only criticism.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Review - Very good
- Verified traveler (10/5): Opinion - Very convenient for our travel to Calais area
- Denise (10/5): Great place to stay - Very friendly and helpful staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great experience - Would Definitly return, staff go out of their way to make your stay more welcome. Breakfast was good lovely bacon and view from room was fascinating.
- Jacqueline (8/5): Excellent Value - B&B hotels are clean comfortable and good value for money and is in a very conveniently located for the motorway system.
- Cyril (6/5): Overnight stop - Very helpful Manager. Breakfast good. Interior shabby. Rooms & corridors smell badly of tobacco & cigarettes
- Tim (6/5): Adequate - Stayed overnight en route to Limgoges. The hotel was fine, clean, quiet and generally comfortable, but the area is now really run down and there was a strange damp smell outside, perhaps from a rather flooded Seine. The adjoining two hotels also look rather run down, I wonder if the original hotels moved to a new location 10 miles south of Rouen at the junction of the A13/A154.
- Jacqui (6/5): Good for overnight stay en route to Calais. - Although room on small side, good size bed and nice white crisp bed linen.
Unfortunately area around hotel very rundown
