Guest Reviews
- Nancy (5/5): I would never stay here again & would advise anyone else not to do so It was extremely unappealing. - The location. The apartment's furnishings looked like they had been purchased at the Salvation Army, there were no kitchen utensils, plates, glasses, cups, etc., The shower was tiny and uncomfortable. The toilet made a horrible noise when it was flushed. The bedding smelled bad, there were horrible TV stations, Throughout the night there was a loud recording whenever anyone walked past the area where the apartment was located. There was two "sample" bars of soap provided, no shampoo or conditioner. The tiny refrigerator was dirty, and there was dirty tin foil around the two burner stove. There was a ceiling fan with lights and the lights were not working, neither were the blinds on the window, and only one of the kitchen lights was working.
- Tara (10/5): -
- Pankosky (10/5): - The owners were very hospitable. They were extremely kind and acommidating. It's great seeing a family owned business offer the highest quality of service.
- Douglas (10/5): Excellent! - Great location, amazing family owned place. It was so quiet and just enough privacy. The room as cozy and perfect for a couple and teenager. We stayed here for a cheer competition and will definitely be back if we are in the area again. We stayed on the second floor and had a good amount of steps but didn’t mind at all. Parking is tight but it wasn’t a problem. We had our own designated spot
- Lassiter (10/5): - State was great and friendly. Easy check in and very nice property. Me and my son liked everything
- Steven (9/5): - Communication from the staff was awesome. Our cottage was clean and comfortable. It was located just the right distance from the beach.
- Walter (8/5): - Convenient location and friendly staff. Easy access to beach.
- Venkata (8/5): -
- Jordan (8/5): - Cleanliness
- Robin (10/5): - The best place I have ever stayed at
- Robert (10/5): - Central location to boardwalk music venues. Friendly staff, clean, quiet.
- Harris (7/5): - Great location, only a block from the beach. Comfortable and cute, cheerful cottage with off-street parking. If you really like the sound of fighter jets, this is the place for you. Personally, I'm not a huge fan. Maybe it was the time of year?
- Julia (5/5): Will not make this same mistake twice - Close to beach Picture is deceptive, we were housed in an upstairs alley type room, traveling with elderly and unaware of steps… charged an additional $100 for children for 2 nights
- Patricia (10/5): - Will definitely stay again. Very very clean and everyone was so amazing and welcoming.
- Judy (3/5): The man at the front desk was nice, but the place is old, dated and musty smelling! - Very musty smelling in there. They have a small kitchenette with coffee pot, but no utensils, glasses or COFFEE! No toilitries, just a bar of soap! Did not feel safe in the room or outside the room
- Justin (8/5): 5 Stars - If you’re looking for a clean comfortable place to stay for your trip to VB Angie’s is the place. The management was very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend!
- Monica (4/5): - This place smell like pee in there lobby. The room smell old. We
- Haga (8/5): -
- David (6/5): - It was nicely decorated. Hot at night and kitchen didn’t have utensils and wasn’t usable as expected. Location was nice, communication was good and overall a pleasant stay.
- Daniel (9/5): -
- Monica Dennison (8/5): - Proximity to beach, shopping & restaurants is great!
- Pumpelly (7/5): nice for one night but I would not stay for a week. - It was close to the beach. Bed was comfortable. There was not even a cup for coffee or tea. There was no breakfast offered.
- Charles (7/5): Good -
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cute and Comfy Place - My room was very well appointed and the mattress was very comfortable. The property was clean and the service was friendly.
- Jamie (10/5): - Great stay. Had a communication issue but the owners son made it right. Would recommend staying here
- Jessica (4/5): - Property was very quaint and our room was cute but for some reason there was a lingering smoke smell in a non smoking room and property. I am a non smoker so any is very obvious to me and my family. We expressed our concern within 2 hours of arrival as we hoped it would go away, but it didn’t. I was advised my Steve Jr that they didn’t have another room but he would refund our second night. I asked for a receipt the next day to show what we would be credited as the stay had already been paid for. Still waiting to hear about my refund.
- Bloss (10/5): Great hospitality. - Convenient to everything.
- Thomas (7/5): Good -
- eric (10/5): - The cottage was clean with a homey atmosphere, unlike sterile hotel rooms, and within walking distance of the beach and dining. Highly recommend!
- Jecminek (8/5): Very good -
- Helmut (8/5): Very good - Very nice host. Very nice Apartment. Persons in 1st floor above me were very noisy.
- Vincent (10/5): Thank you!!!! - Angie’s cottage was a great place to stay! My family had a great time! The place was super clean, the housekeeping staff were great making sure we had everything we needed! The owner Steve is a great guy! He was very personable and had great suggestions on things to do in the area! This place is like a 2 minute walk to the beach, which was so nice! Lots of shops close by as well! The cottage has lots of cameras and security so that made us feel very safe! If you’re hesitant to book this place, don’t be! It’s a perfect little getaway spot!
- Richard (10/5): - Very Cozy and near the beach, Staff is very courteous
and friendly.
- Katherine (8/5): We enjoyed staying at Angie’s Cottage and would likely stay again. - Cute cottages, fabulous location right in the center of town, two easy blocks from the beach, very clean with homey decor, parking included, family-run. The cottages are part of the Ocean Cove Motel, but felt much more private for a few more dollars. The room had a lovely kitchenette, but no silverware, dishes, or pans, so we couldn’t enjoy it.
They charged a $250 cleaning deposit, which was not advertised and hopefully will be returned (we tried to leave the room exactly as we found it). It was charged as a separate transaction on arrival. They did tell me about this in a welcome message after I made the reservation, but I didn’t notice it in the original post. After tax and fees, the room was just over $250 a night, so the deposit was equivalent to a whole extra night, which was a lot of money for us.
Checkin took a long time—the owner was very friendly, but it resulted in waiting a while to get everything sorted out and I was tired after a long drive.
- amanda (10/5): Cottage stay with hotel benefits - Our stay was wonderful. The room was great, the beds were amazingly comfortable, and the staff great. Since it is owned and run by the same people that own the motel next door, we had the feel of a cottage stay with the benefits of a hotel. This included front desk services and daily housekeeping.
- Aaron (10/5): - Couldn't ask for a better host.
- Shaun (10/5): - big thanks to the owners they were awesome, easy to work with and answered all my questions and helped me out while in town. the place is great, clean, air conditioning unit worked great place was actually cold and there was a heat wave 100+ outside. thanks for a great trip i will be back next year!
- Allison (10/5): - Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and having coffee maker, toaster and fridge was very helpful. The property was quiet overnight. just a quick walk to the beach and good restaurant options within walking distance.
Our only complaint was that the air conditioner in our room was pretty noisy at night intermittently. But we'd definitely stay here again.
- Rachel (8/5): - It was nice. It’s much colder in the main room, the beds were very comfy. Comes with roomservice, bring utensils.
- Elba (10/5): - Angie’s Cottage is centrally located and just one block from the beach and boardwalk - close enough to enjoy and distanced enough to feel safe, quiet, and private. Whatever you need, it is also within walking distance. The boardwalk is lined with food trucks and attractions.
Steve provides the most exceptional customer service from check in to check out. His and his family’s hospitality sets them apart. Other staff are also polite and helpful.
The unit and overall property (there are several units on their block) are exceptionally clean and well maintained. Unit is well furnished, comfortable, and stocked with enough linens. They pay special attention to safety and have lighting, security cameras, and security guard on the premises throughout the night.
Tip: If planning to cook during your stay, bring your own pots, dishes, and silverware. Coffee machine, toaster, microwave, stove, and fridge are all available in unit. Also bring toiletries.
Will DEFINITELY stay here on a future trip to Va. Beach.
- Doreen (10/5): - Room was very clean staff was very pleasant
- jorge (8/5): - Small and cozy but lacking proper kitchen equipment and utensils.
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- Paul (7/5): Good - Location and cleanliness. No kitchen stuff. TV hard to control. No front desk. Gotta call a number. Maybe they answer. Maybe they don't.
- Daniel (10/5): IT WAS NICE - we took a pre honeymoon mini vacation this place was great only one block from the beach. the staff was nice and friendly
the location was perfect, walking distance to almost everything the room was spotless and comfy we will definitely be staying again THANK YOU SO MUCH WE LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS
- Bret (10/5): - This place is a diamond in the ruff. It is located on Pacific and 24th which is very close to the Boardwalk and Walgreens is just across the street.
Bring your own plates, forks, shampoo, etc. towels are provided. Security is active from evening to morning. So you can rest easy even being close to the beach crowd.
I’d definitely stay there again!
- John (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay. Steve and Steve were great. Just read the details. Ocean view is a stretch...but close walk. No ice trays or other accessories..it is posted in description. Read Details.
- Laura (10/5): - Owners were very accomodating with our late arrival.
- mary (10/5): We can't wait to return. - We stayed in an efficiency cottage. It was cute and extremely clean. It provided all we needed with a stovetop, microwave and small refrigerator for our 3 day stay. We brought our own pans, cooking utensils, and plates. The cottage was small yet had plenty of storage for kitchen items and clothing. The location was perfect with quick access to the beach and nearby stores. The staff was friendly and a joy to chat with.
- JB (2/5): Cockroaches and Unsafe Location - I don’t often write reviews, but feel compelled in this case to save others from making a mistake. The ”cottage” which is actually more of an apartment, is infested with cockroaches. Within minutes of entering the room, the largest cockroach I have ever seen, ran up the wall behind the headboard. It stayed on the wall the entire time we packed to leave the room. I contacted the manager to return the key and he offered to refund us for the stay. He said it would take few days to process. One month later, I have not received the refund and the manager refuses to respond. I must also note that the location of this hotel is in a bad area. There are many people hanging out on the street smoking, drinking, etc and outdoor bars on the block with loud music late at night. I cannot more strongly advise you to avoid this place at all costs.
- Tchaka (6/5): Pleasant - The receptionist was amazing Too much outside light shinning into bedroom
- Chase (8/5): Very good -
- Wendy (9/5): My stay was lovely! - Owners on site if needed. Very motel feel where everyone was welcome. Can't think of a thing!
- Daniel (10/5): - I come every year and Steve never looks any older! Great stay, super comfortable and convenient with 7/11, Walgreens and dining options steps away. I walked to the beach and never moved my car. Kitchenette is unequipped so bring, plates, cups, cutlery etc if you need them. I’ll be back!
- Delilah (8/5): Relaxing - I liked how close it was to everything. The beach was a block and many restaurants to choose from in the area. Loved the porch setting, was able to sit outside during the rain storm. It needs pot and pans if they have a stove.
- Fran (10/5): - I enjoyed staying at Angie's Guest Cottage; it is unique. I loved my room with the wicker and king bed. It was very clean. This was my first time in visiting my niece and I chose Angie's Guest Cottage for my stay. Norma and Steve were welcoming and I liked the "family" type of ownership. I definitely recommend them as a welcoming change from staying in a hotel.
- Horton (7/5): Great last minute affordable option. - The location is great. Cottage is clean and sufficient. Cottage has very strong mildew smell. While this can’t be changed, be careful when parking, driveway opening is SUPER narrow so swing wide and be straight when entering.
- Krista (5/5): it’s a pretty cottage, but don’t expect to cook there. - The property is cute and the location is wonderful, just two blocks from the beach. Norma was lovely too. There was a fridge, a stove, a microwave, a coffee maker, and a toaster, what the manager and the website described as a full kitchen. However, there were no knives, no cooking utensils whatsoever, no plates, glasses, coffee cups, bowls, silverware, or pots and pans. You will need to bring or buy these items if you plan to cook there.
- Melinda (9/5): Superb - Exceptionally clean, cozy, and private on a cul-de-sac. Ping pong , outdoor grill, and Frisbee golf practice area. All gated & enclosed.
Yet, Cross the street and 750ft away
is the Boardwalk opening up all Virginia Beach has to offer!
This is a family business, made in the USA !
They have my support and outstanding reference. A little slow on the deposit return.
That's why a 9 rather than 10.
- Mary (8/5): - Very close to the beach and in the middle of all the action. Room was perfect for our family of 5 to go back and forth from the beach and all of the shops.
- David (9/5): Superb - Location. 2 blocks from beach near good restaurants
- Peggy (10/5): - Very cute quaint cabins nicely taken care of. Personnel there were great. One block from the beach and very reasonably priced for the location
- Williamson (1/5): I recording every time you step foot on property said you were being recorded they took $1,083 no rf - Nothing the place was horrible the guys who were running it Andrew was a thug five guys came to our door and kicked us out at 7:30 p.m. refused to give me any of my thousand $82 back I am a veteran with a service animal and I let them know that I'm suing Room was not what was advertised also special requests was I had a service animal we got kicked out of our room on our second day even after showing papers which I don't have to do to a police officer they told me it was a civil litigation that I must leave at 7:30 p.m. at night we had to drive 5 hours back home when I had let them know two times about my service animal
- Kirk (10/5): Perfect place in the middle of everything. - The place was very warming and comfortable. The staff were absolutely wonderful and friendly. They made the stay twice as wonderful. The room we stayed in was very cozy and clean. WiFi wasn’t an issue like we had seen on some other ratings. All around it was an amazing stay and I’m definitely booking again.
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shima (1/5): This place is a fraud!! - This place is a fraud!! The way they run their business and make money is unbelievable. They sell it to you as non-refundable and it doesn’t show you have to pay deposit until you complete the booking. And then after the check out they might charge you for the whole deposit ($250 or more) even if the slightest thing goes wrong. We tried to keep the place very clean and tidy, but they still charged us for $252 after we checked out, saying there has been a stain on one of the bed sheets!!! And when we tried to contact them regarding the situation, they totally ignored our calls and emails. Truly the worst costumer treatment we have ever received!!!
- Lara (10/5): - Norma was so kind and helpful. She made late check in easy and made us feel so welcome. So close to the boardwalk, we would definitely stay here again.
- Donna (10/5): Exceptional - Staff was amazing...friendly, courteous, and very helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable. Location was great. Close to the beach and boardwalk, shops and restaurants. Cooking was difficult, eating out was the easier option.
- Gjorgi (10/5): Super Awesome Quality Family Time Spent - Great for a family vacation, close to restaurants, the beach and entertainment spots. Great hospitality from the staff as well. N/A
- Mark (10/5): - We loved staying at this little cottage. The room was clean and it had a great little front porch to hang out and sip cocktails after the sun set. It is just one block from the beach and there are plenty of restaurants you can walk to. Great place for half the cost of Ocean front.
- James (8/5): - The staff was very friendly and even let us stay parked a couple of hours beyond checkout. The only downside was our first floor room had a noisy renter above, constantly moving chairs which we could clearly hear through the unsoundproofed ceiling.
- Scott (10/5): - Liked location but cottage was very small.
- Luz (9/5): Superb -
- Rita (6/5): Clean, decent place. Do not expect to speak with anyone after reservation is made. - The cottage was very clean. The price for high season was expected. This is a family run business. Once the reservation was made, we were not able to get in touch with the motel at all. Even after we checked in, the person behind the desk gave us her personal phone number and told us she lives on the property. When we came back around 9:00 at night we did not know the wifi password. Texted to her and never got an answer.
Emails were not answered either.
- Monica (7/5): I would book the upstairs unit again for sure, especially if a pet exception could be made. - Location was great! Units were clean, queen beds were comfortable. (We did not use the bunk beds nor day bed. ) Loved the cozy feel & adorable decor. Upstairs unit was quiet. My coworker stayed in ground floor unit, which was noisier due to street noise & shower water was cold last morning of stay. She had a coffee maker & toaster provided, my unit did not have these items. There was a musty/? moldy smell in both units. Bathrooms are tiny, OK for 1 guest at a time.
- Jesse (7/5): Good - Liked the location! The staff are wonderful! The sheets kept coming off the bed corners. Small fridge and cooking area was less than we needed.
- Nilve (10/5): - The place was clean and the room has everything three bed etc., it was close to the beach also they were kind
- Sandra (10/5): Always a great stay! - One block from the ocean. I'm always happy with my stay here. Helpful staff and very accommodating. I look forward to next time!
- Diana (8/5): Very good -
- Richard (6/5): - Very cute cottage and the location was great but we kept hearing a loud, thumping bass sound past midnight at night that came through the walls. We also ran out of hot water halfway through our 3rd daughter showering. Just be sure to bring your own toiletries and there was no cookware as well.
- Shepherd (8/5): I had a really enjoyable and relaxing time - I enjoyed the location, the quantness and the freshness of the cottage There were mice in the walls
- Melanie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Diamond (10/5): I enjoyed my stay there with my family - I love the whole house I will be back for the summer the rooms are very nice and clean it was a place to put everything I brought with me up nice room space N/A
- Lamar (5/5): Passable -
- Tyrease (8/5): Very good -
- Laniqua (6/5): Quick stay - Was able to check in after mentioned time and no noise from outside. The beds were very thin and the shower very small.
- Bagtasmmu6l60lķ0bźhjj8 (9/5): I’m very happy to stay will comeback again - Simple like you are in your own house The exhaust fan is not working
- Margaret (1/5): Awful. I felt ripped off. - It was close to the beach. I would not recommend to stay there. I booked the accommodation online before flying out to US. However, one day before checking in, I phoned them and said that I would be late. I was told that it was fine but when I turned up, they were shut. I could not check in and no one would answer the phone. I had to check into another hotel which cost me $200!! The next day, i checked in to Angie's cottage and was told they didn't know and they did not hear the phone!!! Not impressed whatsoever.
- Bush (9/5): Superb -
- Helen (10/5): Exceptional - It was a very close walk to the beach. Was close to restaurants. Only 2 miles from the aquarium. The s5aff was great. The room was very homey & clean. I felt safe there.
- James (2/5): - Staff not helpful.
- Dickerson (1/5): I’m sure that there are better places to stay in Virginia Beach. I’m sure that other management in other locations are m - Nothing really, due to a death of my mom during the time that l was to go to Angie’s Cottage l was unable to stay. There was no empathy from the management to adjust my reservations. This was during the slow season! The lack of communication among the staff. One individual said to call to readjust my reservation. Though l left two voice messages no one returned my call.
- Penny (7/5): Good -
- Donna (10/5): Exceptional - Everyone was extremely helpful and nice! Enjoyed having a deck. Close to the beach. Awesome place, to stay! Not a thing!
- Sandra (8/5): Very good - Value was excellent. Our accommodations were very comfortable and tastefully furnished We prefer to be ocean front but this was only a block to the ocean and so affordable. Our room was spotlessly clean and very tastefully decorated. The owners are always present to maintain high standards of hospitality. We'll definitely go back.
- Bear (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joel (10/5): - Honestly the only negative was the tiny parking space but it's beachfront cottage. having parking included at all was nice. Friendly clean and close to everything
- Brister (10/5): Simply great, I was given a great experience and would recommend to all give angie's cottages a stay - Angie's cottages, is the nicest place I have stayed in six years of going to virginia beach, I got what most people want but never get even from the big chain hotels. IT WAS SO CLEAN, YOU COULD LET A BABY EAT OFF THE FLOOR. The staff was so nice and accomadating I felt like a family member. I woulf like to say thank you to you and your staff for that, that is somthing I forgot even existed in the hospitalty atmosphere. I would like to see some handicapt parking on the street, from the local manisipality.
- Cathy (9/5): The room was cozy. The cottage is historical and the staff was the friendliest I've met anywhere. I - Loved the location. Right in the middle of VA Beach. No breakfast expected.
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
