• Saundra (10/5): Romantic getaway across from the breath-taking ocean. - The location was perfect. Being directly across from the ocean was just breath-taking. The patio was very large with a couch and 2 chair with a coffee table. Rooms are spacious and spotless. Robes in the closet very cozy! I think the breakfast could have been stocked up with more. We got there at 10 and there was not much left to have a variety of options to eat. The coffee was good. It would have been nice to be able to try different things.

• Bruce (5/5): disappointed - but the location helped make it a nice stay - location was great - right on the water - wonderful from that aspect The advertised room was NOT what I received. It was supposed to be a Suite OVER looking the water. What I got was a TINY room that when you opened the door it hit the bathroom door on the right. Our room was positioned so that everyone who was walking outside sees right into our suite - so, we had to keep the curtain pulled at all times of the day. Bathroom didn't have an exhaust fan so difficult to vent. Phone didn't work. I had to walk to the front desk to ask a question. I did not find the staff very friendly and when I told them about the phone, they didn't offer to come fix it. They just offered a perfunctory "sorry".

• BigSuitcase123 (2/5): Do not recommend - Our room was very dated and worn down, with a shower curtain in place of a closet door, dirty and small bathroom and overall musty smell. It was summer time so I was paying peak prices for the room and immediately disappointed. Upon further inspection, we noticed mold inside the picture hanging above the fold out couch my children were going to sleep on. I brought this to the attention of the hotel staff who could not accommodate a move to another room as the hotel was booked. Instead, their solution was to remove the picture, which only revealed more mold on the actual wall. For health reasons, I refused to stay in that room with my family and requested a refund, which I was told they would not accommodate. Frustrated, we gathered our things and left the room anyway. When I went to drop off the room keys at the front desk, I was able to speak with a manger over the telephone who eventually agreed to refund us the money already charged to my card. This hotel looks like it has lots of potential, but it is in serious need of both property and management improvements. Until that happens, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
• dhour6 (2/5): Disappointed! - We stayed in the separate two story building. The room was musty, out dated, bed cover wrinkled. The bathroom was very small, no place for even a tooth brush. The carpet smelled. There was a significant gap on the bottom and top of the room door. When it rained the carpet became wet. A curtain of some type replaced a missing closet door. The staff was very apologetic. We were told the owner has neglected the property and not taken advise of staff as far as maintenance was concerned. On line photos are beautiful. Wow were we disappointed upon arrival.

• erins46 (10/5): Beautiful hotel with an amazing ocean view - Ocean House Hotel at Bass Rocks was a beautiful hotel and our stay was fantastic. The view of the ocean can't be beat and the proximity to Gloucester is very nice. If we are back in the area we would stay there again.
• MicheleS876 (10/5): Spectacular Ocean View and Cozy Rooms - We have always stayed at Ocean House when visiting Gloucester. This is the latest in the season that we have gone there (mid-November 2025) but the rooms are cozy and the view of the ocean can't be beat. There also seem to be more restaurants in downtown Gloucester to choose from so that, too, made our stay great. The restaurant listing in the lobby was very helpful!

• BonnieF17 (4/5): DISAPPOINTING! - Extremely disappointing! Based on the website photo showing a very large room with multiple oceanfront windows, I booked the King Suite. Instead of the lovely room pictured, I had two small rooms separated by a narrow hall. Only one of the two rooms faced the ocean. The rooms were musty, the decor was dated, the carpet had multiple stains, and one of the lampshades had clearly been wet previously. There was a hole in the wall in the narrow area connecting the rooms because there was no room for the entry door to open fully. We were unable to maintain a consistent temperature with the dated mini-split heat/cooling unit. The wifi did not support consistent streaming. (DVD players were provided as were multiple titles) Amenities typically found in a suite (such as paper towels, mugs, glasses, and silverware) were not offered. Although the view was lovely, the furniture was not laid out in a way to make it accessible. (For example, the sofa faced away from the window.) I expected much more, especially given the high price point. I paid a significant upcharge to stay in the main building. I think I would have been happier in a standard motel-type room. I reaached out to management upon my return and they have been responsive.

Loved the big ocean front balcony with nice furniture - I could stay out there all day! the views and sounds of the ocean ... so sweet. We went to Beauport Mccan house tour and Rocky Neck Art Colony - lovely lunch at the Salt Cod Arthouse! Dinner at 51 Rocky Neck.. Don't forget to check out the Eastern Point lighthouse - ignore the signs for Residents and Members only and keep driving to the end! So worth the walk around the lighthouse on the rocky ocean! It is Rocky Neck so go for it. Plus Dahlias on Stacy Blvd - stunning!! Gotta love Glosta!

Even though it was a little cool, we were able to sit outside by the fire pit and enjoy the sound of the ocean. The proximity to the airport was great. We were able to get to Boston Logan airport in less than 50 minutes.

Optimal auch, wenn man von Europa in Boston (Flughafen) ankommt, da die Anreise per Auto nur ca. 1 Stunde dauert. Genügend Parkplätze sind vorhanden. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Der Strand ist über eine Strasse gut erreichbar. Auch zum Hafen ist es per Auto nicht weit. Zum Frühstück können wir nichts sagen da wir hierzu in das angrenzende Hotel gingen. Die Ausstattung des Hotels ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Die Ausstattung könnte in naher Zukunft renoviert werden - ist aber noch in Ordnung.

You can watch the sunrise right from the comfort of your beautiful balcony! It is breathtaking!!! The pool and hot tub were great - and the staff were super helpful and friendly. We will definitely be re booking again!

It would be nice of the bathrooms were bigger and newer tubs. Our tub ( room 209) at first I thought was dirty, but it was scratches. I would put lattice work privacy screens between each outdoor balcony. When you’re relaxing in the morning with your coffee and your neighbor, you don’t know is literally staring right at you. It’s a little odd . Otherwise we liked everything. It’s such a beautiful spot.

• spren2016 (10/5): Ocean views for our 49th wedding anniversary - We had a wonderful time at the Ocean House. Our room on the second floor with a balcony was wonderful. Although we had rain for both days, the covered balcony still made it enjoyable to sit out and watch and listen to the ocean waves pounding on the rocks just below. The continental breakfast provided was okay but could have been better with more fresh offerings. Registration and Checkout was very easy and efficient. We highly recommend this hotel.

Clean room, beautiful pool and you can’t say enough about the views and sounds of waves crashing on the rocks. It was exactly what I needed. They have a lovely continental breakfast with great options like warm, flaky ham and Swiss croissants and fresh fruit. I do wish there was a bit more privacy between the balconies. I could hear my neighbors arguing through the walls but they stopped and I got a wonderful nights sleep. Loved waking up to the sunrise outside my window. Can’t wait to go back!
• Jennifer (10/5): - This was so perfect for a quick girls overnight with myself and my two tween daughters. We don’t live far from here and just wanted to take a quick getaway. The pool was perfect and the hot tub was great! Can’t beat the ocean view. The hammock, fire pit, chess, and cornhole were very appreciated my by girls and I enjoyed being able to read on the outdoor patio area. We are definitely making this a yearly (or more) thing. Hotel staff was very sweet.

Stairs to second floor are a bit steep, bathroom is small. Nice restaurants within 25 minutes drive. The road out front is mostly quiet, nice porch, beds were comfortable. Big selection of CDs available.

My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and paid an extreme amount of money for one night to enjoy the ocean. They were rooming people for three weddings that day. At around 12:30am everyone returned from the weddings and the place turned into a frat house. At least 40 people partied extremely loudly until 3am. They were in the pool and hot tub with a loud sound system playing. There was no staff on duty so there was no rest for the night. When the morning finally came I complained to the staff, and the manager never even spoke to me. They comped us 20% of what we paid. To me the grounds are beautiful with a great view, but our stay was no enjoyable.

I also liked that even though the staff was excellent and took care of everything, we could move in and out without feeling like we were being supervised by them. The walk to the pool and hot tub was a bit unnerving because it felt like the other guests were watching you from their balconies. Not really anything you can do about that though

• Niculae (10/5): Clean, comfy with an amazing view. - It's a great place. While not perfect, due to age, it is clean and comfortable. On top of everything, you can't beat the view from the patio. The hotel is facing Est, just arround 30 feet (10 -15 meters) to the ocean. At night, with the wave sound I got the best sleep ever. And then I sit on the patio, sipping my coffee and watching a spectacular sunrise. Recommended. Staff was helpful and kind. One note, Continental breakfast is just that. Nothing to write home about. Filled croissants seemed OK but with my diet i can't have them. The only thing I could eat there was boiled eggs, water and coffee.

• Maria del Rosario (2/5): Una pena … - La Ubicación El personal . Teníamos una reserva de habitación ( con cama extra grande y sofá cama ) con vistas al mar para tres personas y la que nos dieron era lateral . Nos fuimos a pedir el cambio de habitación pues no era lo que habíamos pagado y la persona del lobby no atendió a nuestra petición . Pedimos hablar con el mánager y después de esperarle durante más de una hora , nos dijo que se había ido hacía diez minutos sin atendernos y que volvía dos días después. El colmo ya fue cuando al abrir el sofá cama , estaba sin montar y tuvimos que ir a pedir que lo hicieran, su respuesta fue una bolsa con sábanas y mantas . No tiene nombre !!!
