- Cindy (9/5): Overall a very nice stay, loved the historic pictures (kind of feeling like I went back in time). - The front desk staff were nice and helpful.
The room, although small, was comfortable and the bed was very comfortable (I slept great!) The shower was nice, the water warmed up nicely.
The breakfast was very good...delicious hot and cold options. Some fresh fruit would be nice too. Maybe some flavored creamer options for the coffee? There was a little too much light coming from around the door at night (especially around the hinges/door jam). I managed to prop the pillow in such a way for it not to be a distraction as the distance from the bed to the door is fairly close. I would recommend updating the shower head, as the one (at least in my room) was small and sprayed funny. Lastly, from time to time, I could hear a cycling motor noise in the wall, around the closet area. It would come on, cycle, and then off....not sure what that was, it was a little annoying. One other thing...I know it couldn't be avoided, but renovations began while I was there rendering the elevator inoperable, thus making it necessary to use the stairs (not a huge thing) every time I either went to the beach or to go eat, etc. My legs got a little tired. This minor inconvenience may have been more bothersome for others.
- Melinda (1/5): The worst hotel EVER…. - Nothing but the location….. Very old everything. Room door didn’t stay closed unless it was locked….. Bath tub had rust in it… Bed was very low to the ground and uncomfortable…. Hotel has very very dirty carpet throughout the hotel…. Had to be moved to another due to condition of first room and second room was a bit better but will NEVER stay at that hotel again…
- Mashell (5/5): The building looks nice from the outside. The lobby is beautiful. Don’t take room 214! - It was close to the beach and event that we attended.
The evening/night auditor was very helpful and kind.
The weekend dayshift front desk person could use a course on customer service.
The complimentary breakfast was good and the man maintaining the breakfast was very kind and had great customer service skills. The views from our room windows were obscured by air conditioners and parking lots. I envisioned having a beach view… I was so disappointed.
The interior in the rooms were substandard. I understand it is a historical building but the room 214 was clean but outdated. There is much needed cosmetic repairs needed to ceilings and walls. Maybe some paint too! I feel we got the worst room in the hotel! The slave quarters maybe.
The mattress was old, lopsided and uncomfortable.
The towels were grey and dingy. I wish I had brought my own towels.
The room 214 is above the kitchen and below the restaurant. It was very noisy and you could hear people going up and down the outside metal stairs.
- John (7/5): Perfect location for what we were doing. Would stay here again - Nice vintage feel The tub had nothing to prevent you from slipping. Fell and busted my butt.
- Hope (10/5): Authentic and affordable - I liked the location best. Right on the beach and near many restaurants and bars. The penthouse bar was also a nice plus! It felt more like a bed and breakfast than a hotel.
- Linda (9/5): A blast from the past - We love the location very close to shops restaurants and the fact it was right on the beach made it wonderful The only complaint that I can even think of was that our TV in the living room we were unable to watch anything it had been programmed into someone's account and we couldn't remove it
- Karen (7/5): We had a nice time in the bar and rooftop restaurant, as well as the beach area. - An amazing location and an historical property. It has great potential to be lovely, however, it is currently undergoing renovations and it may be that not all of the rooms or the breakfast area and outdoor spaces are not completed.
There was no mention of this on the website or on Booking.com.
The windows weren’t clean and the towels were thin and discolored.
- Rian (8/5): Great spot in Jax - Location & rooftop restraunt & price The room needs updating
- Bob (3/5): Not happy kids involved and wanted us to move - Location Lied to about rooms
Lied to about reasons with rooms
Lied to about getting a manager
- leslie (8/5): Interesting - Charming and once the renovations are done will be nice I fell down the slope ramp because someone decided to spray it w furn polish or something. The rooftop is not a restaurant as implied. No water pressure whatsoever.
- Jamie (8/5): Classic hotel, great location, a bit worn at the edges. - Nice room, close to the pier, excellent bathroom Mattress a bit too soft for me, towels a bit threadbare (and one had a bloodstain).
- Taylor (9/5): -
- Gary (10/5): -
- Mickie (9/5): Too short - Location, upstairs deck bar Breakfast
- Christie (10/5): -
- Frederick (10/5): Mary at front desk is a such a nice person. Breakfast is the best and I’ve stayed at many hotels before. - Next to the ocean; free parking at this time of year (winter). Breakfast was the best, eggs, sausage & coffee so good. Mary at the front desk was the best, so very pleasant & helpful. Could use a few more hooks on the walls for hanging towels.
- Dana (10/5): - Beautiful , quaint historic hotel. Great location, good view. Parking is close, but requires crossing street. However, you are allowed to stay in circle drive to unload and to load . Main entrance has steps, but there is a side ramp for luggage cart access.
- Andrea (10/5): Casa Marina will always be our hotel in Jacksonville. Friendly staff and comfortable beds. - We love the classic charm of this hotel at an affordable price as well Everything was perfect.
- Kim (8/5): -
- Casey (8/5): Overall not bad but room for improvement - The central air wasn't working and I was freezing cold. I was not aware how the noise upstairs at the bar would affect me.
- Melissa (3/5): - It was close to good food. It was dirty and had roaches. Busted beer bottle on stairs outside.
- Amy (8/5): Comfortable. Will go back - I loved the old historic building. The location is perfect. Staff friendly. Hotel quiet. The heater was loud. Oh and the blind wouldn’t go all the way down so people could see inside with the light on.
- Natalie (3/5): -
- William (2/5): Disappointed in the overall stay - Location Room did not offer standard amenities like hangers, pull out bed did not work, noise level was too high
- Andrew (6/5): -
- Joshua (10/5): -
- Janet (8/5): - The staff and location were great. The mattress was not comfortable
- Laurie (9/5): I had a blast and loved being able to make it to the wedding of my friends. - I love the historic features of the building. I had a great view of the beach from my room. The staff was very nice. The breakfast was great every morning. I liked that it had a bar upstairs and it was convenient with a beautiful view of the beach. I was there for a wedding and it was a great place for that. The food was awesome. The room was very dated and didn't have anything to hang my clothes or put them away. I had no dresser or closet. I didn't have a place to put my toiletries. I had to leave on the floor or window seal.
- Marvie (9/5): Perfect location in a historic hotel on the beach. - The location is perfect. Lots of cool restaurants and bars. You can't beat being foot steps away from the beach. It was hard to find parking in their lot at night. Their parking is in the strip mall across the street from the hotel and there are not a lot of spaces.
- Alyssa (8/5): -
- Abram (10/5): -
- David (6/5): We enjoyed the history of the building and the vintage photographs - Bedrooms are sub-standard
- Leo (10/5): PERFECT ! - Breakfast was fantastic! We would eat outside on the patio every am. The staff was so friendly and helpful. It felt like our home away from home.
- Elisse (10/5): - Room and breakfast was great! The staff was also cery friendly. Everything was perfect
- Sherrie (2/5): - Deluxe queen room was a disappointment! Very small ,no chair to sit on ,no place to put clothes, basically felt like a closet with a bed.
If that’s deluxe I hate to see a standard room!
Also the breakfast was lousy!
- Rebecca (8/5): Fun place to explore - Lovely place, convenient, right on the beach, near peir and shopping. Price was fantastic. Enjoyed the old Florida vibe. Pictures of days gone by. Loved the history. Could use some updates like replacing stained carpet on stairs but otherwise nice hotel considering age. Fir the price, met expectations. Desk clerk, Mary, was very nice. Breakfast was good.
- Alfredo (10/5): -
- Daniel (1/5): Worst experience at a hotel ever - The only good thing about this place is the location Dirty towels, no bathroom, floor towel, no toilet paper, no tissues, no hot water, and I can continue. The staff is completely unfriendly and unhelpful. You were unable to resolve any issues that you have during your stay. You cannot contact Management at all if you have a problem either.
- JONATHAN (10/5): - Location is awesome, even though they put Margaritaville right next door. From the entrance, to the rooms, you can see the Jax Beach history all over the walls. Quiet hotel, and fantastic sunset view from the 3rd floor bar. Someone decided to clean the street with a leaf blower at 230am. Not the fault of the hotel.
- Neil (9/5): Great staff, great location, nice breakfast - Location and staff were both lovely
- Andrew (10/5): Extremely friendly and helpful staff with a great location - Very classy and spacious Nothing
- Salem (9/5): - Views. Customer Service
- James (10/5): - Honestly the only reason why I booked this hotel was because of the price for being right on the beach and after driving for over 15hrs I didn't care where I stayed. Well I ended up liking it so much I could have kicked myself in the butt for not booking a longer stay. We had a queen bed with an ocean view, slept with the window open and listened to the waves of the ocean put us to sleep. It was romantic as well, most definitely will be booking a longer stay in the future. Also a bigger room with the ocean view of course. It had a restaurant that we didn't get around to checking out. I didn't like that the elevator didn't work but after reading the history about this place, it wasn't a problem taking the stairs. It was also hard to find parking, we got lucky and found parked near the hotel.
- Tiara (2/5): Would not come back - Beautiful location Someone else wrote, “Could be great, but isn’t,” and wow, that’s spot on. The hotel has beautiful bones. The location and the building is lovely and historical. The staff seem nice too. But the upkeep is seriously lacking and most comforts that you’d come to expect are missing. The elevator floor and staircase carpet are disgusting. I don’t think anyone has cleaned them in a very long time, if ever. Our room was also far from clean, which was upsetting but we arrived late and just needed to sleep. The bedsheets were thankfully clean, but when we spilled a little water on the floor and used one of their rough, small shower towels to dry it up, it turned a dark gray. My feet were filthy by the next day just from walking barefoot in our room. The bathroom is bare bones and you can tell they don’t fill the soap dispensers with fresh soap often, so it’s old and thick. Apparently this place is also known to be haunted? Seems like they should disclose that, and thankfully we saw nothing weird ourselves. The room is super bare bones and not terrible cozy. Nothing on the walls, nothing pretty the way the photos on the website make it seem. The website makes it look a lot nicer than it is in real life. The decor in the public spaces is beautiful and the beach is lovely, but it seems like the level of care here is practically none outside of their event space. Wouldn’t come back, don’t recommend. Not a bad experience, per se, but definitely not one I’d want to have again.
- Toya (9/5): It was really great! I’ll definitely be back. - It was really cozy and the staff was really nice. You can hear what’s going on in hallway but overall it wasn’t a big deal to me.
- Christine (7/5): It was ok considering there was a wedding the night we stay and the music was right under our room, the bed was so hard - Location The designing of the building
- Cristina (10/5): Beautiful with lots of charm - Location on the water was amazing, beautiful views of the sunrise over the ocean, friendly staff, cozy interiors, great vibe
- Tittl (8/5): Might be back - Bed was comfortable Living room needed a coffee table and bigger table
- Zachary (7/5): -
- Sean (9/5): - Mary the receptionist greeted us so nicely and gave us all the details on things to do. She answered all of our questions perfectly and her hospitality was awesome. The upstairs bar is so relaxing with a chill vibe. The gentleman bartender with dark curly hair (sorry we didn't get his name) was super friendly and helped guide us on drinks. The room was the perfect size with a very cutesy vibe. The view of the beach from our room was beautiful. The entire hotel gives a quiet, old time, and intimate vibe. The coffee at breakfast could have been better, but the food was a great variety for the price.
- Jennifer (2/5): - The main bed was comfortable. Great location. The food at the wedding was fantastic. Great wedding venue. The pull out couch looked like the original. The inside was disgusting and had no support at all.
- stephen (9/5): -
- Clive (9/5): Quirky historic hotel .. would stay again - Location and price The room was nice. Whilst dated it was quirky. Room would have 10/10 with the addition of 1 or 2 chairs … the only seat was on the bed. Breakfast on the bar counter / drinks shelf not ideal but understand that we stayed out of season .. worth a re think for a better customer experience .. breakfast itself was very good.
- Glenn (9/5): Great location, good value and interesting history - Oceanfront historic hotel with a great rooftop bar Loud. I could hear people in the hallway
- Derrick (8/5): -
Tapijt is vies. Hotel straalt de oude charme goed uit maar het dient opgefrist te worden
- Cynthia (10/5): - The history of the place the location of the place the staff was wonderful to buildings beautiful real easy access to the beach the sun rises are awesome. There was nothing I didn't like about it well the sofa bed wasn't too comfortable but everything else was awesome
- darren (7/5): -
- George (8/5): - Staff was fantastic! Ocean front, music every night. Room are dated, but super clean and very charming. Will return often!
- Schade (10/5): - Great room, great bar, great time
- Delta (10/5): It was comfortable and beautiful - met old friends that also stay at the hotel - loved it - we will be back - Historic building - right on the beach Nothing
- Brenda (10/5): - I loved the ocean view upstairs in the bar and the exterior area, and the history of the place, It is unique. I wish there was an overhang at the entrance to protect you from rain when checking in, unloading and loading your car. The parking was across the street so it felt a bit sketching not being on private property. But that wasn't, as it turned out, a big deal. Some deep cleaning overall is needed. Particularly in the room I was in had dark dust/mold on the ac vent, and the ceiling fan was dusty. That being said everything else was clean and the furniture nice, bed comfortable. Everyone was very nice and helpful. Also, the ac works great and the fridge even has a little freezer which helps keep your ice. The room needed at least one chair. An ice machine on each floor would be nice but they do bring it to you on request--just different. The day I checked in there was an event of 300 people related to a local surf contest. Though very loud, it started at 5 pm, it was amusing and full of very polite young folks having a great time. The good news is the hotel has a hard stop at 10:30 pm. It literally went from the biggest loudest party one minute to complete silence the next right at the stop time. That is amazing!!!! I had a few friends visit that over the course of a two night stay and we had a blast in my room and in the bar. It's a great hotel for people who love the ocean, historical buildings, are open minded, and not expecting one of the "top 40" hotel experiences.
- carol (7/5): Not in love with the place as much as I used to be, but they let you change and hang out on the beach before you check i - I have been here several times and I do love this spot. It’s very quaint! I love looking at all the pictures of the early hundreds on the walls in the hallways of the hotel. It has a lot of history and haunted history which intrigues me ! not that I have seen any ghost. Great breakfast!! There is a smell of must always in the whole entire hotel, granted it’s old. Also, there is a bar upstairs so you are not gonna get to sleep early if that bothers you and the walls are paper thin! And parking is horrible. Sometimes it’s easy and if there’s anything going on down there, you will need to walk. They have a spot across the street. They’re allowed to park in, but it gets full. You don’t have to pay, but you do have to walk and search for a spot! There is a spot in the front that you can drop off your luggage and then park!! there is fees to park right next to the place, but after dark is free.
- Julia (10/5): - This is the 2nd time I have stayed at Casa Marina. Its history and the fact that is about 100 yds from the ocean were the biggest draws. The rooftop bar and its wonderful view were also an added benefit. The staff at the front desk were great - helpful and focused on making your stay memorable. I sing its praises to friends, and as a Floridian, I will be returning after our season winds down.
- Steve (10/5): - The staff were friendly and helpful! THh property is historic, with a lot of charm.
- Beth (6/5): - Understand from locals the hotel is getting updated later this year- definitely needs it. It was adequate but needs new carpet, towels and bathroom upgrades. Please don’t lose the history- rooftop bar was amazing!
- Tammy (8/5): - I love the beachfront location! The old hotel has charm, but there were issues with the TVs and bathroom! The TV in the living room had no sound and the bedroom TV had sound with a fuzzy picture! The bathroom needs a better showerhead and a hook on the door to hang clothes! Some of the electrical outlets didn’t work! There was not a smoke detector in the bedroom! Breakfast was okay! The Wedding I attended at the location was wonderful! Also the bedroom in room 215 could use a blackout curtain.
- D (10/5): - Wonderful stay! The room and property were clean, and the hotel had an amazing historical feel. The rooftop bar was gorgeous with a brilliant view of the beach. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again.
- Callahan (10/5): -
- Laurie (10/5): - Love the history of the hotel.
- Thomas (8/5): -
- Jean (10/5): - We have stayed at Casa Marina before and will continue to go back. The staff is really incredible and goes above and beyond. The hotel is historic and just beautiful. It's location right along the beach makes it perfect.
- Daryl (8/5): - Very loud and no parking due to an event. Everything else was very nice, full breakfast, period furniture and decor. Walked on the beach after Breakfast.
- gina (10/5): - L
- Donna (10/5): I am so impressed by the way the staff were receptive, welcoming, and helpful. The room was so clea, - Exceptional, professional, and very well treated, greeted, valued, and most importantly, appreciated. The staff, including, greeter, receptionist, housekeeping, restaurant staff and altogether the entire community were superb. N/A
- Nelson (10/5): - Great location, rooms is comfortable with a vintaje feel.
- Sharone (10/5): - Beachfront access is amazing!
- Kathleen (10/5): - Beautiful property, great staff
- carol (9/5): Place can’t stop young drunk people from being rude! Still love the spot! - Best spot Bar upstairs! Very noisy on Friday night! Hard to sleep after a long drive!
- Donna (10/5): - The staff went above and beyond to make my visit relaxing and enjoyable. I wont stay anywhere else in Jax beach.
- Phillips (10/5): -
- Michael (10/5): Nice - Location at the beach & walking distance to restaurants There was a wedding reception outside right below our room at night with loud music telling etc .
- Lee (10/5): - Right on the beach and next to the fishing pier. It's an older structure with real vintage charm. Very nice staff too.
- Thomas (10/5): - Beach view, breakfast, great service!
- Michele (10/5): - I unfortunately was unable to stay here during my trip as there were some complications that came up. So I have given this place 5 stars for all entry’s to be fair.
- carol (10/5): Love the place and the breakfast was great ! - Love this place for many reasons! There is a bar upstairs so plan on some rude drunks in the hallways! It was the noisy drunk girl! But I was pretty upset at first after driving for 10 hours to catch a cruise the next day! But the visit on the return trip was 2 nd floor and had an amazing view! I booked that room again for another cruise! Nooo microwave to be used except in bar and it was inconvenient for the workers!’ Should be one in that breakfast room!
- Denese (9/5): Very lovely will stay again - Convenient to beach, restaurants, bars. Shopping. Clean. Very friendly staff
Great value Maybe bigger menu for penthouse restaurant
- Lea Lovelle (9/5): - This is our 3rd time in this hotel. We love the location and the hospitality of the staff.
