Guest Reviews
- Betty (4/5): - Upon arrival, room seemed to be OK but had to request light bulbs and a tv remote. Once we pulled covers down to go to bed, we discovered black spots on the sheets and covers. The towels in the bathroom also had black spots. Did not find any bedbugs, but the stains made us very nervous. It was too late to do anything about it.
The location was not convenient to the waterfalls.
- Lulu (10/5): - We got the family room which was a 3 bedroom 1.5 bath with a full kitchen. It did what we needed beds were good to us. Firm mattresses. Room 22 was good to us. Please be mindful that you will need to walk up steps to get into that family unit.
- RAKESH (10/5): - Clean room, nice service and conveniently located about 8 mins drive from Horshoe falls
- Tri Nhan (8/5): - My room has a smoking smell
- Shelley (10/5): - Yes
- Venkata (4/5): - Hardly anything good to say about my stay.
- Jagjit (10/5): - Everything is good
- Clinton (6/5): - We stayed one night while vising the falls on our way to another destination. The hotel was very basic. The room was okay but not really meant for travelers. Most of the people here clearly lived in the hotel. The room had a full size refrigerator more like an apartment. The facility was pretty run down but we didn't have any real issues.
- Ken (6/5): - The couple managing this property are most welcoming, cheerful and helpful and deserve a lot of credit for the job they are facing. The property while kept clean is old and seriously care-worn. The pictures used to promote it on-line are probably about 50 or more years old and it will take a lot of time, energy and money to restore it to what it once was. The bed was very comfortable which made it a more than satisfactory place to lay one’s head down. It is not, however a place to spend time other than sleeping. With this understanding I would hope that customers will support the owners as they undertake a Herculean task
- Prabhjot (8/5): - Staff was very courteous and accommodating. I had a very late check in, but the front staff made sure i got the room and that made my stay 5/5.
- Brenda (8/5): - Over priced for No amenities. No ice maker, No coffee, glass or mug in bath room No ice or maker ( was told to go across to gas station) not acceptable!
Cindy@ front desk went beyond her duties to get a coffee maker and ice.
- Stephen (4/5): - This is a residential property, with live in residents. Building is in terrible shape on the outside. Room had dirty floor and carpet.. staff was nice.
- Campinglifeform (4/5): - Older hotel needs new carpet, paint and especially bedding.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The lodge was a great place to stay for one night. The rooms were big and the beds were comfortable. The staff were great and helpful!
Though the furniture was a little old and the rooms were stuffy.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Spacious ,more than enough towels, close to casino
- joan (10/5): Comfortable and clean - Clean and efficient rooms. Bathroom updated which was great for an older motel. Lady at desk very friendly and helpful. I don't usually like to book at any motel but seeing hotel prices were ridiculous we gave this place a try and was pleasantly surprised. Thank you for making our stay comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - My room was in great shape and very clean. The staff was more than happy to accommodate me when I asked to check in early, and they were very helpful throughout my stay. Everyone was very friendly as well and made sure to make me feel welcome.
- Jack (10/5): - The owners were very helpful when we needed to leave a few days earlier than anticipated. We will definitely stay again. They are working on updating the rooms and it is a good location for seeing things in the area.
- Huanglin (10/5): - This hotel should be 2.5 star instead of 2. The rooms are all nice inside, way beyond a typical 2-star room! The people were very kind; they made you feel at home. We had really pleasant stay there. So happy we found it! Will return in the future.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - There was flies in the room and washroom. And water for bath was not warm enough suddenly got cold and hot changing the temperature.
- Jim (10/5): - Was clean and neat. A bit older but looked after. Was even given more bedding when Granddaughter decided to stay with Grandma. First inpressions count and they need to sandblast and paint stairs... rust and scale are the first thimg you see.. but the rooms were clean and neat.
- Charles (10/5): Updated, clean, convenient, and responsive. - I've stayed in this place before under the former management. Dan and Beckie took it over earlier this year, and they have made many updates. The room that we stayed in looked like it had been redone since my last stay. It was great! Clean, coffee, great house keeping. The WiFi was great! It's close to the Falls, without the price associated with the Falls. The staff was positively responsive to all of my queries. Everything worked as it should. Tip here, call direct for a price because they pay Hotells.com a percentage and will give you a better price than you can get online! Great, clean, and near the falls. I'll be back!!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Every thing was wonderful, and we enjoyed our vacation
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Not your typical falls motel. The owners obviously take pride in this place and have put effort into sprucing it up.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good place for stay it was nice time good and great amenities
- chris (10/5): A lovely family friendly mot - Sure it needs a bit of updating but if you want five star you pay five star prices, a nice budget motel. Very family friendly with lovely pool and space for kids to play, local restaurants and bars 5 mins walk. Away from the sleaze of downtown Niagara but still close to the sights.
- Ellen (10/5): Great Motel! - Staff was friendly and polite and helpful. Was very pleased with the service and room.
- Dinesh (8/5): - WiFi connection did not work at all for us. Complained to the front desk but did not fix it.
- Jerry (8/5): - I liked the fact that it was on a fairly quiet street but there were alot of variety within a 5 minute walk. The staff were super friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the stay.
- Hemanth (8/5): - Value for money, has a pool and its own bbq spot and a small picnic area
- Paul M (10/5): Love it - Star hotel is close to everything, the owners are super Friendly's and courteous serious she even waved bye to us as we leave. Big shakes very good care of the grounds and have pride in it. Sunrooms were comfortable and clean no bugs.
This will be my first choice when visiting Niagara Falls again
- Alan (8/5): - I had to text them to have someone available at the reception to check me in at 9:30 pm.
- E.L. (4/5): - The intersection has traffic at night time. Noisy area. Not secure windows. There is renovation.
- Shannon (10/5): Awesome service so friendly - The front desk and manager was so kind! Location was perfect and the price was right!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Family run property. Neat and clean. Free parking.
Close to the falls, but one would need to drive to get there.
- Svjetlana (6/5): - We brought relatives thinking that this place is the same as last time when we wisited.Unfortunately, it wasn't clean the way that it should be.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Nice and quiet, away from the main stream of tourists. After a few days, owners of motel and restaurants will recognize You and be treated as a regular.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Aman does the impossible to make nice everything but the property needs a lot before it is OK for me to coming back. sorry ! angela maria -happy new year 2018. I wish the best for them but he and his brother needs a lot to work and spending money to improve it.
- Julius (8/5): - Good location, good price! Lots of parking. Restaurants, cafe, etc are all 5 minutes walk away.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Comfortable bed. Not well insulated...could hear other showers running and people talking outside the room. Grounds requires more upkeep, but love the area they are attempting to create with the picnic tables, gazebo, etc. Will be nice when it's done.. Love that you can step outside and have access to your car.
- James (8/5): - Room was comfortable and affordable. Staff was great!!!
- GMMCB (4/5): - The room needed a good cleaning, especially the bathroom. The floor was filthy. The mattress cover and pad did not fit the bed and the sheets looked a little thread bare. Pillows had a musty smell. It was a hot weekend and the AC ran all the time, so that might have contributed to the musty smell. Overall, I'd say that the place needs a good overhaul. ( I did stay there 4 years ago and it was in better shape)
- DanielB (10/5): - First night there was an issue with the occupant in the room beside me. Next morning, the hotel staff acted on the concern right away. Customer service at it's best. Have stayed here in 2017 and can guarantee I shall be returning in 2019!!!
- Kendra (6/5): Bad area - Chose not to stay here due To the fact that when we got there the area is very seedy.
- Sergey (8/5): Decent for overnight stay - The hotel is aged. Myriad of spiders above the entrance doors at the evening, spooky. On positive side - everything in room is operational and location is convenient, close to Marineland and the falls. Adding one star because staff was kind to wait for us and checked in after hours.
- Raymond Peare (10/5): - Great trip overnight stay clean quiet comfortable microwave fridge tv everything you need to enjoy the area. Less than five minutes from the falls in the car. Thanks for a great stay
- Neptune (4/5): - Room is dark. No available telephone in the room to call the hotel office or front desk. The office/front desk is always close and no personnel to entertain the needs of the guest. Never again. Would not recxomend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Safe family location - Great place to stay close to everything by car and well priced..not the best hotel in all of Niagara but it will do the job as a safe hotel to stay in for you and your family.
- Val (8/5): - Nice hotel even for a family...
- lori (2/5): Horrible - A family member and I had both booked rooms here so we could be together. Imagine our surprise when we found out that they had overbooked and canceled one of the reservations. They actually bumped us even though the room had been paid for and reservation/confirmation numbers given. We were FURIOUS that 1. they have a strict cancellation policy- apparently the customer can’t cancel, but it’s OK if the hotel does???! They left us high and dry on a busy summer Saturday with no place to go and virtually no apology. Naturally every hotel in the area was blocked also, so we spent a good chunk of the day trying to find new lodging. Definitely put a damper on our vacation. Not to mention place is seriously run down. Zero stars.
- Terry Bucaro (8/5): Pleasant surprise - The location of the hotel was within minutes of the Niagara Falls. The gentleman at the desk was extremely welcoming and informative. He took a lot of time to help us navigate the area - including providing us with 2 helpful printed maps. The room was a vintage '50s type room, with some updates - and very clean.
.
- Keijo (10/5): - Nice and cozy place to stay with really friendly and helpfull staff
- R.Mitchell (10/5): - I don’t know his name but he was Very professional and very helpful. He went out his way to show us the Best Spots at Niagara Falls. Very, very professional. The room was great. The next time I visit, I am definitely staying there again.
Room # 8
- May (6/5): - Building is old, but clean. Area dark little away from main attractions. If drape and bedspread can be change to lighter color may be more pleasant look.
- Andy (10/5): Highly recommended - Facilities were clean and staff were very friendly. The owner left some fruit for us in the room. When we went to the front desk to ask some questions, she brought even more fruit for us. And she gave us a lot of useful travel tips. The customer service was outstanding. Also, there was an outdoor swimming pool that we could actually use. Definitely going back again!
- Raymond (10/5): - Located close to the action in a nearby quiet attached town of Chippewa. Wonderfully friendly and helpful people. Stayed twice now and definitely would return.
- meg (6/5): Nice small town Chippawa close to Niagara - Reception Man was very friendly and helpful! Close to Welland river!
- james (10/5): - Very good experience and they help me for everthing
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Over all it was pleasant. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Bathroom needs bit improvement.
- larry (6/5): Good luck. - O.k,,,, pool wasn,t ready, grass,, yard was way overgrown. A skunk was chowing down in the garbage in the backyard. Bugs in the room, and bed was made from parts from 3-4 other beds. Good luck.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very clean place - The lodge definitely needs some outside remodeling, but inside is a complete story. The bathroom looked brand new, the beds were comfortable, and overall everything was neat.
- Patrick (10/5): - The people were great and a perfect location outside the downtown area. I would stay there again.
- Jackilyn (8/5): - Don’t judge a book by its cover... the outside needs some updating, but the room was clean and large. A bowl of fruit was waiting for us when we arrived after a long drive. The staff was friendly and very helpful, as well as allowed us to check in early after checking our room was indeeed ready. Room is equipped with fridge, micro, coffee maker and AC along with wifi and free parking. I was able to Netflix and chill with fruit as soon as we got it in room. Perfect location for the race I was in town for with a Vegan treat shop nearby.
- Alan (8/5): - Fine experience. Had to call to get someone to the desk because I was arriving at 11:30 pm.
- Laurence (8/5): A comfortable room at a decent price - A nice quiet location. Fairly clean, but not in great shape. A 5 to 10 minute drive to the horseshoe falls in downtown. Good breakfast options nearby. Friendly, courteous staff . Decent rates
- Ross (10/5): - Quiet, clean and affordable accomodations
- Archie (8/5): APPLES & BANANAS! - The welcome and service was exemplary, as I was shown to my room and fresh fruit was provided. The room was very clean and quiet, although the bathroom was a bit run down - cracked wall and floor tile, and the showerhead dripped continuously. I'm sorry not to have had the opportunity to discuss all this with the two gentlemen who had been there at check-in, but I departed before the office opened in the morning. The room was very comfortable and well-priced.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Property run down, States there is playground onsite - there isn’t. Beds are uncomfortable and room was freezing
- Richard (2/5): Bad hotel in a bad area. - When I first saw this place, I was appalled. From the outside, it looked shabby and run down. Inside was no better. Again, everything looked rundown, shabby, and unclean. I immediately left the hotel, found another and forfeited the amount I had paid for two rooms. My friend refused to stay as well. This bad experience will definitely impact any future business dealings with Expedia
- Verified traveler (6/5): The heat doesn't work - The heat doesn't work well, the room was cold. I liked the location.
- muna (10/5): Near to everywhere’s - Outside looking very bad but inside good, stuff are very helpful,
- Faith (2/5): Nobody home - Showed up to get our room and no one was there or answering the phone! Called twice and left messages as well as messaged motel thru expedia. Very disappointed and better not be charged!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice motel, weather issue - I really enjoyed most things about this hotel. Check-in great, friendly, nice bar and restaurant across street. Room was immaculate, location was handy - much better than it looks on the map. They turned on the heat before I got there. Fruit for breakfast. They did everything they could do right!
I wanted to love this place. But it was very cold out (well below 0 F) and the room never really got warm no matter how I cranked the heat. It's probably fine at 20 or 30 F, and amazing in the summer.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Pure trash - I was freezing. Heater didn’t work. It was -20 outside. Left my hotel at 3am and checked in at another hotel just to stay warm.
- Evelyn (2/5): Simply disgusting - Room was full of mismatched furniture . Building is falling apart with cracks in cement on stairs and building. Massive amount of spiders around light going into room. Disgusting bad and not worth any amount of money. Please be advised to anyone who reads this. Hotels.com you should be ashamed of yourself for referring us. This is really bad
- Tony (6/5): Niagara falls Stay - The hotel is located approx 2 km from the falls the hotel is in need of renovation it does not appear the same as photos the exterior looks run down the rooms are clean and comfortable.
- Peg (6/5): Needs update - Small room, no breakfast, no ice machine, no vending machines, furnishings old
- Oscar (8/5): - It was a couple's night out. The room was very spacious, clean and well kept but the bed was too hard on our backs. Just one request to keep the coffee maker somewhere in the room rather than have it in the washroom. We will definitely stay at this motel again especially when it is very close to the falls and Marineland.
- SA (8/5): - Excellent choice, clean and great staff , we enjoyed our stay in this hotel.
- Dana (8/5): Very close to the Canadian Falls. - Very quiet, older motel. Close to many great food choices. Could use an update, but well worth the price. The desk clerk was very friendly and gave great directions. He also made sure that we knew to have our passports with us when we went to the falls so that we could walk across the bridge between America and Canada.
- george (4/5): Not as described - Upon checking the first room they gave us had a bad odor and the toilet seat was broken the second room was ok deadbolt didn't work on door no phone in rooms the hotel restaurant is closed so had to go elsewhere to eat but their is a couple places in walking distance the coffee pot had not been cleaned out when we got there we had to do that then they forgot to restock the coffee so we had to go find someplace to get coffee at 5:00 am the hotel is an older hotel and could use a bit of updating and repairs
- Dan (10/5): -= Very courteous staff =- - Wow, is the best short answer I can give. The hotel staff was very courteous.
Walking distances to various restaurants and even a grocery store. Near the waterfront and also a big park with splash pad. The surroundings where beautiful and relaxing.
I shall definitely recommend and return to this hotel if I ever go back in this area.
- lawrence (2/5): - we did not get to stay here. they sold our room I booked in January . The worker told me I just work not my problem.
- Cody (10/5): Comfortable
- very nice people
it was nice to be out of all the noise but close enough to everything we wanted to see
- carolyn (8/5): Nice Hotel - Good location, close to all attractions. Very clean and grounds we kept. Great little restaurants within walking distance. Enjoyed our stay for 3 days.
- Bernard (2/5): - Hotel not impressive. There was no phone, no safe, no kleenex. Bathroom paint was pealing along side of shower. Bathroom door rubbed along floor. Reception very limited from 9am - 11am. There are no restaurants or bar as mentioned in add. One restaurant across from hotel and another a block away. Stairs leading to 2nd floor was rusty and needed painting and there were cracks on the cement steps. On booking we were advised there were only 2 rooms available. Our first night, there were only 2 vehicles.
We were very disappointed with Hotel.com listings. We will not be using your site for future bookings...bad memories for our 20th wedding anniversary.
- Jill (6/5): Too much Febreeze - There was a very strong odour of Febreeze in the room. It was hard for my child to breathe. I am not sure what they were trying to cover up. The room was clean. We did not see any bugs of any kind. There was a small pool which was clean. We only stayed one night.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Ordinary - Okay. The staff seem nice, but not there most of the times. No breakfast. WiFi did not work for us 90% of the time.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Close to the venue for the main reason to be there - Attended a wedding which was close by. Three different trips to the Falls area and Clifton Hill.
- Dawn (8/5): Niagara Falls Ontario - The hotel is easy to access, rooms are nice and clean. Service could enhance a bit, toilet paper was needed last day. Pool was very nice and the outside swing and picnic area was great. Perhaps pruning the tree to access the parking lot would be helpful with road access.
- mohammed (6/5): Close to the attractions. - The hotel is away from the crowd and craziness but close enough to all that you need to do while at Niagara. The front desk staff Manny was very knowledgeable and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable at entry. But for reasons they didn't clean our room after the second night. Didn't change the sheets, didn't leave any clean towels or even take the garbages. It was really very disappointing.
Besides the wifi was good. Location was very close to the falls and the marineland was actually within the walking distance.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - We were really disappointed with our stay. Found about five spiders in the stay of two nights and one beatle on the bed. hotel is filled with spider webs hanging down the roof, on the fences, above your door. We had a web above our door we went and complained said they’d take it down when we got back it was still there. Fruit was provided for free, it was a nice gesture but honestly it didn’t look good, my neighbors fruit even had white stuff on it. Overall, if you’re not someone who likes bugs do not stay here because you are sure to find a plethora of it.
- jelena (8/5): Not glamorous but glad we stayed there - It's an older motel, with everything on the older side -- the building, the furniture, and the area outside, but if you are going to spend only a night or two, are happy with having just basics (on the older side), and don't want to pay a lot, it works. The guys in the office were super friendly and helpful. I had requested a roll-away bed during reservation, and it was waiting for us in the room. The motel is in the area that is removed from the glamour of downtown, and it kind of looks not particularly attractive, but it is quiet and feels safe, and the people in the office said it was safe to walk there in the evening (which we did). There are a few restaurants within a block or two. We ate in two of them and were quite happy with the meals. If you like walking, it takes about 40 - 45 minutes to walk to the Horseshoe Falls. It is a nice walk along the Niagara River. There is a city bus stop (not wego bus) about 30 second walk away from the hotel. There is also a parking lot maybe 3 min drive (or 10-15 min walk) away from which you can take wego bus to the Falls. There is also a grocery store a few blocks away. When I first saw the motel, I felt disappointed, but now I am glad we stayed there because we ended up seeing places we wouldn't have seen otherwise, like Dufferin Islands Nature Area (a really really pretty park). We also ended up talking to some really cool people at the hotel (the guys in the office, family from Germany, and some musicians who sang right outside!)
- Melissa (8/5): - Good location very close to many amenities. Hotel staff very helpful and the room was in very good condition. Very please with the price and what we got for our buck!!
- Marcin (6/5): Canada Day celebration at Niagara Falls. - Place is nice for the price... very friendly staff and surprisingly clean rooms and bathrooms. Location-wise it's a little far from all the attractions and there isn't very much going on around it. Overall, for the price it is a very good choice.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Ok but we overpaid - The place is old and dated but clean. Front desk was very nice. We paid too much but it was a holiday.
- Vojt (8/5): Nice place to stay - No complaints, staff was amazing and the rooms were clean and comfortable to stay in. The lodge is within driving distance to the Falls, but it would be a hike if you wish to walk to the Falls.
- Derek (8/5): - Good hotel; a little bit old fashioned but is clean, comfortable and convenient. Staff are friendly and thoughtful. Keep up the good work.
- Ray O'Connor (2/5): Bates Motel - Awful, the rooms were filthy, during my stay so far the room has not been cleaned nor the beds made. Reception is hardly open. Apparently my room only has 1 Key so my room cannot be serviced. Plaster is hanging off the ceiling. damp patches on ceiling. walls filthy and scuffed. Coffee maker next to to toilet within bathroom, hardly health and safe compliant or hygenic. Complete lack of assistance from staff. If you prepay your bill I would advise you to check it carefully as I was way overcharged and had to wait for it to be refunded. My advice is to avoid this place at all costs.
- Doreen (4/5): Unhappy - Not like web pictures. Pool was swamp water. Grounds were full of garbage. Grass uncut, no where to sit and enjoy. Service was not there at all. Had to take our own garbage down after 2 days.
