Guest Reviews
- John (8/5): - It was a good deal. Location was ok. Decent/good for the price range. Old.
- John (3/5): -
- Karylyn (1/5): Horrible - The fridge was very cold. Dated. Old. Falling apart. Worst hotel ever. Towels were dingy and stained and when I complained they gave me more stained towels
- Betty (10/5): -
- Gray (10/5): -
- Ana (10/5): -
- Stephanie (1/5): - The kind staff That people entered the room I'd rented without my permission while I'd been bathing, that people went through my personal belongings without my permission while I'd been bathing, that people went thru my vehicle without my permission while I'd been there only one nite alone, that I'd not been informed of a deposit fee and four days have passed and I've not yet gotten my deposit back, I'd not felt comfortable because of what I've mentioned above and because entering the room there were hair shavings in the sink from somebody else, that Id had to sterilize, the room price at Palm Leaf for me, for one was also too expensive in those conditions mentioned for one nite of lodging.
- Austin (6/5): I've had better for the price... - Let me start by saying this is my second time staying here. The first room I was in was in MUCH better condition than the most recent one. The outlet behind the bed had duct tape over it so it couldn't be used. which meant the only other outlets were on the other side of the room where the TV and fridge were plugged in. The TV didn't work and I had to plug my phone in across the room which left me with lots of free time to assess the condition of this room, which left lots to be desired. The bathroom was recently "renovated" so that was OK. however I had to leave my socks by the bed and put them on whenever I got out of bed because the carpet was gross and sticky and left a gross residue on the bottom of my feet. The only upside to this room was it was around the back of the building and didn't have neighboring rooms so it was significantly quieter than the previous room I was in. Also the ladies working the desk were downright delightful and a pleasure to experience. I wish I had their names so I could shout them out.
- Joe (2/5): - The owners were Overbearing, rude real nasty.
- Marcos (7/5): Good -
- Austin (10/5): - great for price
- YaVettee (4/5): - front desk informed me HOTELS.COM falsely reserve rooms that are NOT available. your reservation list is NOT the real list used at the hotel. I did not stay because there was NOT a king bed / smoking. All they had left was a DOUBLE bed. Watch out with hotels.com NOT TRANSPARANT and truthful !!!
- Virginia (5/5): ok but probably wouldn't stay there again. Not worth $70.00 + tax especially with US exchange. - Not offered. We had picked a king bed. They told me they didn't have a king only two double beds. There was a king bed in the pictures to pick your room. Pillows were terrible. I think they got them at the Goodwill along with the pillowcases (grey and shabby looking). It was late March and still cool at night so the one sheet and very light spread really wasn't warm enough. There was a space at the bottom of the door where the door where the weather stripping had come off so you had about a 5 inch space where you could see daylight.
- Frank (2/5): - First of all, we reserved a room with 3 beds, it was the last one, but that's what we reserved. I called the reception to let them know that we were late... no problem they said... That room wasn't available when we showed up...
Second. It was midnight, not good illumination in the room, but enough to see that was a really old and not well maintained, not clean... of course.
Third. I told my children not to walk barefoot because the carpet was disgusting, and glad I did. When we woke up, a cockroach was having a party on that carpet and we found some bug parts in between the sheets.
The worst motel/hotel we've ever stayed... by far..., period.
I understand now why it was the only option available close to kings dominions that night.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Lady at front desk very rude and not friendly at all. Found a bedbug crawling on my arm second night there. Would have left immediately but had no money for somewhere else after paying for here
- Vickie (2/5): Close to work. - The staff was great. The hotel is just very run down. We asked for non smoking, the smell from smoke was so strong it would cling to my hair and clothes. That made it miserable for me. No other rooms available, but I'm sure it would have been the same. I bought candles to help the smell.
- adturner (6/5): Afordable, not bad for what you pay - So first the night time attendant took forever to get to the desk. It was late and I am sure he was asleep, but it was cold and I rang the door multiple times before calling another couple. Once finally checked in the room #4 had been upgraded in the ways they plan to upgrade. The Bathrooms we clean and newly re done. I liked the tile in the shower, it just didnt drain very well. The bed was comfortable,
We used our own sheet on top of the blankets and our own blanket. The Heat was cold... it is an old Motel and you can tell that, while upgrading the could have used some spackling to fill in cracks and dents for a face lift. For what you pay though, other then the spider I woke up to in my hair that I picked up and tossed accross the room in my groggy state( I did get up and find/kill him). It is a place to sleep if you are staying a couple nights.
I would recomend if you didnt plan to do anything but sleep and shower in the room...
- Linda (4/5): Not far from Richmond Raceway - The door to the front desk and there was at least a 5 minute wait for someone to appear to open it. The light run by the switch inside the door had a short and the light did not stay lit. The room was very small. All of the outlets had space showing around them and the plaster was falling away around the air conditioner. The room and bedding were clean although there weren't enough clean towels or washcloths! The price was cheap so I guess we got what we paid for!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Do NOT stay here!!!! - Disgusting! Run Down! Smells! Dirty! Electrical issues!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Cheap, but run down condition. - Condition of room was run down (room was attached to main lobby rather than majority of rooms). Location was good for a Kings Dominion visit (10 mins away). Suitable for a cheap short stay.
- David (10/5): - Our stay was good, no frills motel. Beds were comfortable. Motel was old and in a condition conducive to the price. Owners maintain property to the best of their ability for the cost. I would stay again. Great for a bed and overnight stay.
- Lyndsay (6/5): Nice Little Motel After Long Day at Theme Park - This is not a bad place to stay while passing through along I-95. We took our 3 children to Kings Dominion and just needed an inexpensive place to sleep before heading on to Myrtle Beach. After staying in a nearby motel last trip, I was leary to book another but we needed to stay under budget. We checked in easily at 11:30pm. Owners live on site. The room was comfortable and did not smell like smoke, bit it DID smell like curry due to being adjacent to the owners' apartment. Beds were higher end than expected with nice linens and comfortable. Flat screen TV was a nice plus as well for the price. The bathroom was a bit sad, but functional. There was a hand towel that someone left hanging on the mirror that housekeeping must have overlooked. The mini fridge did not work but we didn't need it so I didn't factor that into my review. The area was safe and looked better in the day time than at night. Overall, it was a modest, no frills, clean motel to stay in after a long day. I would book it again. We were pleasantly surprised once we went into the room...the decor was more updated than I expected.
- Michael D. (8/5): Very good value - The owners/managers are very nice people. The room didn't have a grounded outlet in a convenient location, so they provided us with a power strip that had a nice long cord. The property is old, but well-maintained and clean and the water pressure is good. My only complaint is that the toilet handle has to be held down a long time for the toilet to flush! Overall it's a very good value.
- Michael D (8/5): Great value - The property is clean and well-maintained inside and out. Only its age and a few minute details kept me from giving it five stars - the floor behind the headboards and around the fridge, the ceramic towel bar, the top of the medicine cabinet and one of the mirrors were not clean, and there was no electrical outlet in the bathroom. Altogether it was a great value - when we found that work was going to have us in Ashland for a second night, we didn't hesitate to book a room there again.
- Dennis (6/5): Kings Dominions Hotel - The Staff was very friendly and the Beds where very comfortable the hotel looked really run down but the rooms weren't so bad
- Nelda (6/5): OK for the price - 1/2 the price of most other Ashland motels. Older property but OK to spend a nite
- John (6/5): Good hotel for a 1 night stay going to or from FL - This hotel was clean and neat although the decor is dated. I was only looking for something like this to stay one night on a trip back from FL. It seemed like a decent area - better location than the last hotel I stayed at in Petersburg, VA. The bed was overly soft but I was able to sleep OK. -- With a little effort and expense by management this room could have been made more pleasing but it was OK for 1 night.
- JASON (6/5): Dont let the outside fool you, good, quality motel - Older motel situated near a busy road yet, once the ac was on it was blissfully quiet. The TV had many great channels unavailable in chain motels and the management staff was very nice. The room style we booked was unavailable but the manager called us right away and we worked things out. We'd recommend this place over many of the chain places.
- Tereza (6/5): Goos for maximum few nights - It was just for one night so it was okay!
- donna (6/5): Need a upgrade - Easy check in outside appearance not attractive but room okay for a family get a way on a small budget. Good location for everything.
- Nicole (2/5): Only if your desperate - This was an emergency stay. We won't be coming back. The beds are wrapped in plastic and the sheets don't fit right. Made for a miserable sleep. No ice in the ice room and a constantly running toilet. To much money for those conditions.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Their ice machine was not working. It had spider web... probably not fixed for long time...?
- Bob (6/5): OK for a place to sleep. - I chose this as a place just to sleep because it was close to where i was working.
They did not seem to have any ice & the toilet did not flush very good.
