Guest Reviews
- Jaime (10/5): - Very clean and suitable home. We love the nature and tranquility that surrounds the home.
- Molly (10/5): - Beautiful place less than 5min drive to national park- volcano. Couldn’t beat the view from any window in the place! Yes, it’s chilly volcano side so just be aware of that! But the hot tub was a selling point for us. Only wish was for a dishwasher. Some dishes were left not the cleanest in the cabinet so recommend to wash anything first that you plan to use. Otherwise, fantastic stay! Wonderful beds, kitchen and reliable wifi. Great surrounding area as well
- Michael (10/5): - Great house in a magical setting. Close to the national park. The jacuzzi was awesome. As other folks mentioned, can get cold as there is no central heating
- AT (8/5): Brilliant Ambience - This is a lovely little house in the tropics. However it was difficult to find and get to as it was extremely narrow roads. Definitely need a car so do not book it if relying on public transport. Entry was via a pin code so no human contact. Once found the ambience was magnificent, especially when sitting in the outdoor spa. Unfortunately, the water smelt stagnant but we did not let that stop us. Mattresses are in need of updating as we rolled into the centre and it could do with some curtains. The fridge was tiny and freezer was negligible. Washing machine accessible for longer stays only. Had to take our rubbish out. This is more like an Airbnb rather than a hotel.
- Elizabeth F (10/5): Best place to stay in Volcano. - Not only is this a terrific house in the midst of a secluded rain forest, there is a hot tub. Our family of 4 adults stayed here for the second time and loved it. There is a full kitchen and bath. Because it's in the rain forest, the weather is cool and wet. The wood burning stove is okay but it's still chilly. Because there is a wonderful hot tub, you can get nice and warm before bed or to start your day. I would definitely recommend this place and stay here again. The location is secluded but very convenient to Volcano Village and the National Park.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Interesting house near volcanos - We wished we had more time to spend here. The road to the house was rough but we liked the seclusion and the house was well furnished, though the couch in the living room was lumpy and needs replacement. Overall, a great retreat!
- Verified traveler (6/5): a few problems - It was very cold when we were there. the only heat is a wood stove that was difficult to start and the wood provided was fast burning so it was even colder in the morning. TV remote needed new batteries so no TV. The beds were very comfortable and warm. Another time things might be better.
- Rachel (10/5): closr to volcanoes national park - Pretty clean home in a lush tropical forest within minutes of volcanoes national park. It is better than any hotel because of the privacy it offered.
- Rob (6/5): Nice place but little heat and no drinking water - This was a nice house within easy striking distance of Volcano National Park. Beds were comfortable and there was hot water for showers. The hot tub worked. However, the place was really off the beaten path, as in, a single lane unpaved road. If we didn't have Google Maps, we would have been utterly lost. We stayed during late December and it was cold enough that we had to fire up the wood burning stove, but is was not particularly effective at warming the place up. When we arrived, the house manual made passing mention that the water was not safe to drink. Great time to tell us. It actually would have been fine if we knew in advance and brought our own water along. Fortunately, we had enough to get us through the night.
- Lindsay (10/5): Beautiful and convenient location - Situated in the midst of a beautiful rainforest setting this home is spacious, clean and well-appointed. It is conveniently located just a few minute drive to the Volcano National Park. They do add a $100 cleaning fee which is only mentioned in the fine print though.
- Ken (8/5): Great house in the jungle - House with a great hot tub. This is a nice house but it is out of the way, quite a distance from Hilo and a long way from Kona, however if you want quiet and no noise or neighbors this is the place. Only 1 mile form the entrance to Hawaii Volcanoes national park, this was the mail reason we were on Hawaii anyway. The road is rough with lots of pot holes and is in nee of repair.
- Mike (6/5): Ran out of water - We ran out of water to the entir house after only a couple hours and were unable to take showers or flush the toilet. They gave us a 50 percent discount but since there were other issues I think it should have been more.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We live on Kauai and had to travel to the Big Island for a funeral. We stayed in Volcano for two days at Hale Nahele (wish it was longer!). We are already planning our next trip to Volcano to stay at Hale Nahele. We loved this vacation rental! It was clean, quiet and the back porch was a relaxing place to sit and listen to the native birds sing. There was a jacuzzi that we also enjoyed. We both have busy stressful jobs and found staying here very relaxing and soothing. Having a kitchen was also a plus. There are large windows all through the house as well which enable a very nice view of the rain forrest! We had a Pheasant come right up to the porch as we sat outside and made friends with us. We highly recommend this place and we cant wait to go back! After our stay at Hale Nahele we had to go to Kona and stay at a hotel......all we wanted to do was go back to Hale Nahele!
- Larry (10/5): 4 star home tucked away nature - Road to this place was not well paved but when you get there I was extremely surprised how spacious, clean, comfortable and all you need was inside. A total gem!!! Worth the price
