- 848juliew (8/5): Good hotel in a very good location - This is a very comfortable hotel within the New Forest. It is a quiet peaceful hotel, and the food is of a decent quality. The pool is a nice addition. The hotel has nice grounds in which to walk, especially if you take a dog. Shakira and Tom were especially exemplary employees who went above and beyond to ensure we were happy and comfortable.
- WindsorLad2014 (8/5): Tucked away but very accessible - We had a two night stay and it was very enjoyable. The hotel is tucked away down a windy bumpy lane but it was very accessible from the main road at the top end of the New Forest.at Cadnam. The Bbreakfasts (fulll English) were a good start to the day and the pillows were gorgeous - I you like soft pillows. We slept well and it was very quiet and relaxing. . A short drive to Lyndhurst the" Captal" of he New Forest. Well worth heading into the heart of the Forest down some unlikely lanes and especilly the more elevated area. Just watch out for the Ponies and Donkeys.who'll just amble out when it suits them. I think there 5,000 in total(?) . .

Room tastefully decorated spacious and comfortable bed. We arrived at 9 pm ordered coffee which was served with homemade shortbread. Receptionist efficient and friendly. Excellent value for money . We will definitely stay again ! Nothing

- Neeraj (7/5): Beautiful stay with average food - Everything except food The food served was terrible. We ordered a basic club sandwich and it was served with a chicken bone in it. We had to cancel our dinner because of this experience. The morning continental breakfast was average.
- Bekka (8/5): Great location, friendly staff and a great breakfast. - The location was great, close to New Forest national park and easily accessible for Lyndhurst and other villages and towns. Staff were friendly and helpful. The cooked breakfast is worth paying the upgrade, it was lovely. The property is in need of an upgrade especially outdoor garden seating where the rattan has all broken on the seats. Carpets throughout the hotel are worn and paintwork to windows and doors needs attention.

- lorrainekellett1 (4/5): Beds need an upgrade - Visited this location having received a gift for the traitors event and overnight stay. The event it self was very good and credit goes to the team building company for that. Unfortunately having advised that my dietary requirement were chicken or vegetarian but no mushroom (as most veg options are heavily based on mushrooms) I was served pork belly, and on asking if I could switch for the vegetarian option the server went off to check and came back with a clip board and told me that I had ordered the pork, which I hadn’t as it was a set menu that wasn’t shared before hand and that it would be 20minutes. This wasn’t ideal as everyone else had almost finished and I would end up missing part of the event waiting for my food. The hotel it self is nice, as a listed building there are quirks, so if you like ultra modern this is not the place for you. Sadly the beds could do with an upgrade as the one in room 7 was most uncomfortable and you could feel every spring, sore back in the morning. They may well be replacing the mattresses as there was a visible pile of mattresses in the grounds - not quite the countryside view one would expect. Breakfast was included, but it did seem quite expensive if you were room only, but there was a good choice of cooked options, and the cold buffet had plenty of options.

- mrsjc2026 (10/5): Perfect place to wind down - We booked Bartley Lodge as part of a package for a place to stay after visiting Paultons park and it was far more than just that. Staff were incredibly welcoming from the moment we arrived. The room was spacious and comfortable and the hotel and grounds are beautiful! We were spoilt for choice at breakfast and really enjoyed an evening meal on one of our nights there too. The children were also very well looked after which made this an extra special place to stay - there was a lounge with toys for them to play with and it was no trouble at all when we asked if we could have some milk for them before bed. We will absolutely be returning here for a longer family trip.
- Kvukwt (4/5): Erratic service and black mould in bathroom - The room was up two flights of stairs. My partner, who has limited mobility, did have some difficulty. The room was a good size, with all of the usual facilities. No biscuits with the hospitality tray, but not a big problem! There was a step up to a small alcove, with a sofa, which we tripped over a few times. The room was warm and we had a window open all night. The main issue with the room was the bathroom. The shower head would not stay in the shower head holder, and kept falling out as the clamp mechanism had weakened through wear. There was a fair amount of black mould at the base of some of the tiles in the bath area, and also by the sink. I am susceptible to this as it causes me to cough. The service at the evening meal was erratic. We had a table booked at 7pm and it was not too busy. The main course and drinks were served reasonably quickly and cleared away. We were given a dessert menu and then seemed to be forgotten. After 30 minutes I went to find a member of staff to order dessert. Service at breakfast was similar. Again, reserved a table for 7:30am, when it was not too busy. It was 20 minutes before we were offered coffee, and a long wait for the cooked breakfast. It was 8:45am by the time we could leave the restaurant. Although we don’t live far away, we would not visit this hotel again.

- chezza2015 (8/5): A lovely hotel but not 4* - Love this hotel for the staff and location. Especially Jenny on reception and in the dining room. Always willing to go the extra mile and always with a smile on her face. The Restaurant staff were lovely as well. We have stayed a couple of times before as a big family weekend. This time just an overnight stay before we board for a cruise. Things we noticed this time round. The bedroom (room 43) though clean could do with an update, it was looking a bit worn, nothing that a lick of paint wouldn’t cure. It was the Orangery that looked like a deep clean and a lick of paint wouldn’t go amiss. Chairs were stained and though not massive, cobwebs on the windows. My husband spotted a bad spot in the main dining room whilst waiting for his toast, a really large gathering of dust on the skirtings. There was a wedding at the hotel the night we stayed but as a normal guest it didn’t impact on our stay.

I needed to stay for work and the team were incredibly helpful and supportive, particularly as there was a risk I would be returning to the hotel from my work late at night. It felt very safe. My room was lovely, comfortable and clean and the setting is very quiet and relaxing.

A special shout out to Tom who was amazing with out two year old. In a less positive note, the food could have been be better and the WIFI didn’t work.

- Tomass (6/5): Lovely setting and helpful staff, but improvements are needed for better value - We have stayed at this hotel several times with family, as the kids love the swimming pool, which has longer opening hours than most hotel pools. It’s a gorgeous hotel, close to nature and charming small villages, and the staff have always been helpful. Unfortunately, the pool area is currently in need of repair, and we also found the breakfast disappointing. As a result, we no longer feel it offers good value for money and have decided not to return until improvements are made. *Pool area in need of repair *Breakfast quality could be improved, it has declined compared to our previous stays *Overall not great value for money
- 787christineb (10/5): Fantastic hotel - fully recommend! - Stayed for 2 nights and only wish we could have stayed longer! Lovely hotel, clean and welcoming. All the staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough to help. Our twin room was a generous size and lovely with really comfy beds and a view out over the grounds at the back which was beautiful to wake up to. Plenty of tea and coffee was provided as well as storage space. Breakfast was excellent. I only had the continental but it was so good I felt the upgrade to a full English wasn’t needed and there was so much choice and good coffee. There were lots of cosy areas to hang around in and the bar served a really nice latte! The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly and every single staff member was doing an excellent job in my opinion. I’d recommend this hotel 100%, when we return to the area we will be looking to book again! Thank you to all the staff who made our stay so nice!

- Fliss (8/5): Very helpful staff in a lovely picturesque location. - Easy to access Paultons Park. Easy to request neighbouring rooms. We had a problem with our door lock and Kelly was fantastic about coming to open it when we needed to get in. We got a free late check out in return which meant we could get up later and enjoy the pool with the kids before heading back. Breakfast was lovely and very flexible, despite them being busy (we were a group of four and I was able to pop down early with my youngest and come back later with all of us without getting charged twice). Lovely pool, gardens and cows with calves could be seen from the rooms. Would highly recommend. Using the address through booking.com sent us to Lyndhurst Road the other side of Lyndhurst. It was a nice little detour via some New Forest ponies though so not all bad!

Should be shut The breakfast was a complete disaster 45 minutes to get a tee and coffee no staff no bread at the toaster no fruit juice no plates and cereal bowls The tables next to ours were not cleared for the 90 minutes we were there all guests were complaining .we were told staff were off sick The bathroom to our two rooms were like 1960 bathrooms with exposed soil pipes and no controls to the shower valves (room 25) Two toasters plugged into an extension lead with no circuit breaker is waiting for an accident and fire

Lovely grounds We were not aware at the time of booking, but there was a wedding party happening as we arrived. This meant from around 5pm - midnight all you could hear was incredibly loud dance music / people being drunk and dancing etc.. As it was a non-refundable booking we decided to stay, but we didn't get much (any) sleep as a result of that. In addition: - the beds were incredibly hard, felt like sleeping on a log. - the shower water pressure was so low I gave up trying to have a shower - clear water damage on the ceiling in various places in the room didn't instill much confidence

- N3426UBkenw (10/5): Pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem. - Tucked away in a forested area this beautiful period property exceeded my expectations. It has the authentic patina of a house with a history whilst being kept impeccably by the lovely staff. Kelly in reception welcomed me on arrival and Brooke and Jenny looked after me in the restaurant. Breakfast in the orangery/conservatory, looking out over the garden and fields beyond was particularly pleasant. The breakfast menu was more extensive than many other places that I have stayed. My room was lovely. Lots of character. Two large windows overlooking the gardens and letting lots of light in. The staff were so lovely and friendly. Particularly Jenny, who I had a long chat with at dinner time. I would definitely recommend the Bartley Lodge. And if I have to visit the area again, this will be my go to. Thank you to all the staff at the Lodge for making my stay such a pleasant experience.

- louiseo488 (10/5): Fantastic stay and superb grounds! - Amazing weekend here! Myself and my partner stayed here over the weekend, the grounds are stunning and immaculate. The hotel itself has an old feel but very well looked after. There are many beautiful areas to sit and have drinks but outside is the best as such stunning views. There was a wedding reception on when we stayed but we could barely hear anything when in our room. All the staff are lovely and helpful. The room itself was lovely and clean as was the bathroom which was lovely and warm not chilly like some can be. We had a great time and both said we would stay again. Lots to do in the new forest area too. Our only complaints were that the shower gel and hand wash was harsh on our skin and the tv wasn’t situated in the best place as one of the posters of the bed got in the way. But both those issues are easily worked around. Would recommend this hotel 100% and it wasn’t expensive (£250 for 2 nights inc breakfast). Thank you!
- Amaryllis (8/5): - On the whole was fine. I didn't like the new toasters that took ages to brown the bread. Preferred the old machine you had. The cooked breakfast was brought out too quickly before being able to finish the fruit and cereal, etc.
- Becky (6/5): Nice stay. - Lovely looking building. Friendly reception staff. Breakfast basic but nice. Nice to have the pool, despite comments below. Nice touch having games available: Swimming pool area (walls) very tired and tatty. Both times we swam there weren’t any towels. Pastries at breakfast not replenished. Not great sound proofing, but no doubt this comes with the age of the building. Toilet in our room overflowed on our last morning (we hadn’t blocked it!) so had to vacate a couple of hours earlier than planned as it was unbearable in the room.
- 17yvonneh (8/5): Afternoon Tea Break - We visited as we had a voucher for afternoon tea. We stayed overnight in a lovely positioned room with a lovely view. The hotel could do with being decorated as it’s quite tired but in saying that it was a very comfortable stay. Also the attention to customers at food service wasn’t as attentive as it could have been, we were left waiting quite often with no one taking our order. Great location lovely building and grounds I would visit again.
- Tracey (10/5): Very nice relaxing stay. - The toilet in my room smelt and appeared blocked i was moved into another room no problem. Good breakfast great staff If I have to write anything it would be that the socket near the kettle I couldn't plug in the hair-dryer to be near the mirror.

Staff all very friendly and room was nice,light and airy. I have to say that the food ( cooked breakfast and main meal at dinner) were really tasty,well cooked and of good quality so hats off to the chefs!. Would recommend!

- 201kathy (6/5): Mixed - We had a quiet room (as requested) on the top floor, and there was an excellent radiator in the bedroom which we used to dry our towels on as, unfortunately, there was no heated towel rail in the v. small, chilly, bathroom. The shower head was 'floppy' and pointed backwards so was very difficult to use, however, the water came out of the tap lovely and hot so I had baths instead of showers. All was lovely and clean. The bed was two singles pushed together and didn't 'fit' well and the duvet only just covered both beds. I didn't sleep at all well. The cooked breakfast was excellent, but sometimes there was no one around to order more tea, the dinners were of mixed quality.

Very poorly maintained pool and plumbing that was noisy and extremely outdated. Breakfast was the lowlight with nothing left (not even a croissant!) despite having a prebooked timeslot.
- Remi (10/5): - Everything. The room was lovely and the view was beautiful. The staff were super friendly, and the location was perfect. We brought two dogs with us who both got a little treat pack which was a lovely extra little touch that was really appreciated. I will be returning very soon.
- julespmk (6/5): Disappointing Gift of Afternoon Tea - My Son bought me a voucher for afternoon tea at Forest Hotels. We wanted to go to Burley where he bought the voucher for, but they do not serve their tea until April. In addition, we had a one night's stay at one of their other Hotels for dinner, bed and breakfast. They advertised as dog friend so we booked the tea and the break direct with their booking line and we paid extra for our dog. We arrived on time for our tea and we waited at the meet and greet desk for about 10 minutes. We could see guests having their afternoon tea in the orangery. When no one came to greet us, we put our heads around the kitchen door to get someone's attention. We said we had a reservation. However, instead of being shown to the orangery, we were guided to a corridor with tables. We were told we had to sit here as we had our dog with us. We felt like second class citizens. Our Waiter went to Reception Desk and we heard the receptionist say in a loud voice that she didn't know we had a dog. The tea itself was okay, but the whole experience lacked the ambience and spoilt what should have been a memorable experience. We left without seeing anyone and just walked out. Had we had known, we couldn't have our tea in a nice setting because of our dog, we would not have brought him
- Nicholas (7/5): Nice building and staff but underwhelming facilities - A very well presented building in a nice part of the New Forest with lovely staff. The plumbing needs attention. It is extremely noisy to the point that a neighbor's shower wakes you up as the piped make a . The taps are extremely stiff and the bathroom space to put your personal hygiene products is extremely limited. The pool needs decoration and refurbishing urgently. The breakfast was underwhelming, bordering the unacceptable. We were booked on the last slot at 9:45 for a continental breakfast. There was no brown bread/toast or pasties or fruit left. We asked if they had a single plain croissant available and they did not, nor did they offer any alternative. No alternative milk/yogurt was available either. I appreciate there was a wedding last night and staff (who were always polite and professional) might have been tired but the above are items that can be taken care by better planning.
- haarriieett (10/5): A glorious and serene stay that felt like luxury - I really enjoyed my stay at the Bartley Lodge Hotel. For the price, I was surprised by how luxurious the stay felt from check in to check out. My room was gorgeous and the view from my window was lovely. The communal areas were beautifully decorated and I felt so calm and taken care of. Breakfast was delightful too! Will definitely be staying here again.

I have to mention Tom as he is the most perfect hospitality host and seems to do every position within the hotel and always smiling and very helpful.

He is everywhere and his customer service is five star! Thank you Tom for helping make our stay relaxing and memorable.
- MedMog (4/5): Disappointing - Too many disappointments to note really. I couldn’t even do it justice in the review form they sent us. From putting someone with mobility issues ( they were forewarned and a lower floor room requested) in a room accessed via three staircases, to a deceptive ‘deal’, erroneous charges, poor service, dangerous drive, leaky roof, noisy workmen very early in the morning, poor room facilities, draconian breakfast booking system etc; it felt like a perfect storm of mishaps. Two stars for location, cleanliness, the full breakfast (but not the other items on the hot menu) and a breakfast waitress who was warm, friendly and most importantly genuine. We chose not to make a fuss as by the end of our stay, we were very tired and the person with limited mobility was in so much pain, we paid the excess online and left as quickly as possible. The trip was saved by the beautiful forest and wildlife.

We would like to say thanks to Darren there decorator who was such a lovely guy! He even gave my husband some decorating tips 😀. Overall such a lovely place in the forest.
- mgmike (10/5): LOVELY HOTEL WITH VERY WELCOMING STAFF - We enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea to celebrate our daughter's birthday. The hotel is very comfortable and in a lovely setting. All the staff were exceptionally pleasant, helpful and friendly which contributed to making it a special afternoon.

One of the Senior Mgt mentioned hotel is considering to refurbish the pool area. However, at least they could make an effort to clean mould on regular basis before public using. This was not acceptable !!!

Very poor, one of these photos advertises swimming pool like it used to look, but certainly doesn’t - We have been going to this hotel for years even had our honeymoon here, went for 2 nights and gone down hill massively,swimming pool disgusting, dirty dusty, leaking toilets no longer change bedding, had no tea/coffee in room hadn’t been topped up, waited over hour for food didn’t have half the things on menu, checked to see if they could do sandwiches said yes, but couldn’t do coronation chicken as stated on menu and couldn’t even do ham sandwich, was offered a free night to go back but wouldn’t dream of going back again very disappointing

Receptionists was quite blunt saying it’s closed. We was told to drive to another hotel and there was no showers.

The food was very poor and the staff weren’t very helpful if you could find anyone. And the hotel and the road going to it were in bad , in need of repair .
