• Dhubert (10/5): - Le riad est magnifique, la chambre spacieuse, le personnel accueillant, le restaurant un bon rapport qualite prix. L'arrivée au riad est assez surprenante, l'accès à la piscine pas toujours très reposant avec les enfants des clients.

Nous avons apprécié l’ambiance paisible ainsi que le cadre très sympa. Nous avons moins apprécié la qualité du petit déjeuner. Le choix était très limité et la qualité des produits n’était pas à la hauteur de nos attentes.

(L’hote met une navette gratuite à disposition pour rejoindre le centre, et éviter les complications de parking) Le personnel est très aimable. Petit déjeuner copieux au bord de la piscine.

• Richard (10/5): If tired of modern hotel chains and yearn for something sublimely different..its here!! - We had been twice before nearly 20 years ago and it held special memories....feared it may not live up to these but was as romantic, atmospheric and well run as before......the pictures ,whilst impressive, don't capture the full magic of the place The staff are terrific, well motivated and friendly.....a little 20 mins from Marrakech but a serenely quiet place to unwind after any excursions. If you like something out of the ordinary and tired to modern hotel chains......this will amaze you Important to know that the hotel is very animal friendly .....so if you are allergic to cats....be warned

• Andrea (10/5): Das Caravan Serai ist eine außergewöhnliche Oase nahe Marrakesch mit exzellentem Service, hervorragender Küche und traum - Das Caravan Serai ist eine wirklich einzigartige Unterkunft – absolut empfehlenswert! Es liegt etwa 15 Autominuten von Marrakesch entfernt. Zunächst hat man das Gefühl, sich zu verfahren und nie anzukommen. Doch dann entdeckt man hinter einer unscheinbaren Lehmauer eine Tür, man geht durch und es eröffnet sich ein kleines Paradies. Das Personal ist äußerst zuvorkommend und spricht sehr gut Englisch. Besonders hervorzuheben ist das hervorragende Frühstück. Auch alle anderen Gerichte, die man den ganzen Tag über bestellen kann, sind ein wahrer Genuss. Von der Dachterrasse aus hat man einen atemberaubenden Blick über eine scheinbar endlose, freie Landschaft bis hin zum Atlasgebirge.

• Louisa (9/5): Schöner Aufenthalt vor den Toren Marrakeshs - Sehr sehr nettes Personal!! Wir haben uns sehr willkommen gefühlt! :) Leckeres Frühstück mit reichlich Auswahl. Auf dem ganzen Grundstück verteilt viele gemütliche Plätze zum Sitzen. Die Zimmer werden täglich gereinigt. Toller Pool! Das Gebäude ist wirklich beeindruckend. Abends ist die Anlage toll beleuchtet! Unsere Suite hatte eine Terrasse mit Liegestühlen. Wir kommen gerne wieder, wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt! Man sollte wissen, dass es viele Katzen gibt, die zwar alle sehr süß und zutraulich sind, allerdings auf diversen Polstern Kratzspuren und Haare hinterlassen. Dadurch wirken einige Möbel etwas älter. Fürs Abendessen gibt es in Marrakesh deutlich bessere Restaurants mit mehr Auswahl. Mit einem Auto ist man etwas flexibler. Das dritte Bett in der Suite hatte leider eine sehr harte Matratze, das Doppelbett war gemütlich.

But at the price charged , probably decent value Overpowering smell of cats and their urine! The place has been let go from its previous levels. Eg towels thin and old. Plumbing iffy. Dirty robes. Duvet smaller than bed. None of these huge issues but adds up to sub standard experience
• Mahmoudieh (7/5): Hotel with more cats than guests - I came 24 years ago and wanted to come back. It’s still beautiful but needs a bit of renovating . The staff is very nice and friendly. There were 20 cats ! I have a strong cat allergy and a hotel who is almost a house for cats should mention that on their website. In all of Morocco there are cats but the director has a charity for cats and I feel this cannot be mixed up with a public place like a hotel.

• El Ouafi (7/5): Chambre confortable mais mauvais petit déjeuner. - La chambre Le petit déjeuné, c’était pas bon du tout. Du miel qui n’était pas du vrai miel, ça avait plutôt l’air de sirop de glucose, de l’huile d’olive de mauvaise qualité, un comme tous les produits disponible dans le buffet, et sinon dans la globalité, c’était pas bon du tout… c’est le gros point négatif de l’hôtel, surtout pour une chambre payée à plus de 140€ à l’extérieur de Marrakech.
• Sandra (10/5): Prachtige luxe en een echt 5 sterren hotel - Het was een fantastisch hotel met liefde en aandacht voor personeel en dieren. Het is schoon en er is echt luxe. Ook de bedden waren voor het eerst zacht en we hebben fantastisch geslapen in een gigantische kamer met bad. We zouden absoluut weer hier boeken. Je komt binnen via een wijk die veel armoede kent waardoor je eerst even schrikt van de locatie. Maar de mensen waren vriendelijk en niks vervelends mee gemaakt terwijl we daar laat op de avond toch over straat hebben gewandeld.

Les petits déjeuner gourmands avec des msemens de qualité . Le calme permanent, la tranquillité. Rien dans l’établissement. J’aurais aimé que les alentours ( le village ) soit un peu plus propre. Les habitants jettent beaucoup de déchets et ne font pas attention. Le décor naturel est pourtant sublime .

Different if you compare with european standard but very nice for the local context. Internet in the room was not consistent. Location was good for me because I went to see a football match in the stadium nearby but for those who travel to see the city is not so central.

• Grace (8/5): Really authentic property with wonderful staff who make you feel part of the family. - Wonderful atmosphere, huge bedroom with private terrace. All staff were exceptional. Food very good if a bit limited. The plumbing was a bit suspect and the property needs perhaps a refresh. The distance to the city is a bit limiting; you need to really plan your day.

La cuisine est délicieuse et le personnel très tres sympathique. Les chambres sont grandes et on trouve de nombreuses terrasses et petits salons dans l établissement.. Les aboiements des chiens la nuit.. Le refus d un petit café à 6h 30 le matin du départ ! Je regrette toutes les poubelles dès que l on met le nez à l extérieur dans le village.. .

La nourriture était bonne. La piscine au top et vraiment un plus pour se détendre quand il fait si chaud. La présence des petits chats. Système de navettes proposé le matin et le soir "gratuitement". Les chauffeurs étaient au top. Merci à eux pour ces moments de partage lors de nos nombreux trajets ! Merci également à Philippe qui a toujours été soucieux de notre bien-être lors de ce séjour. Les receptionnistes ne sont pas toujours très agréables et nous font bien comprendre que ce sont eux qui décident. Transfert de l'aéroport à l'hôtel et vice versa cher.

Surclassés dans une suite magnifique, nous avons été touchés par la gentillesse du personnel et le cadre authentique du lieu. Le responsable, Philip, très sympathique passionné et attentif, nous a expliqué avec cœur son association dédiée aux chats, dont la présence apporte beaucoup de charme. Nous avons adoré chaque chat qui venait nous voir, rendant l’expérience encore plus unique et chaleureuse. Situé dans un petit village paisible, un peu en retrait de Marrakech, l’endroit est ressourçant avec le chant des oiseaux et une simplicité très agréable. • Gaynor (7/5): Peace and quiet. - I stayed here 20 years ago, and it is still a stunningly beautiful building. It is quiet and tranquil, perfect place to escape but with a shuttle if you want to go Into Marrakesh. The Hammam is great also. I first stayed here 20 years ago when it was 5 star and had a fabulous chef. Now the food was just adequate and only Moroccan in the evening, and not even croissants in the morning. The building is stunning but in dire need of investment. The staff, some were lovely and one was surly and told me off for speaking French.

Ideaal om aan de drukte van de stad te ontsnappen en volledig tot rust te komen. Geweldig zwembad en heel vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel. Geen enkele opmerking over ons verblijf.

OUTSTANDING hotel. - CARAVAN SERAI is my favourite place to visit and spend time, the hotel facilities are exceptional, the staff are out of the world outstanding, this hotel deserves 5 golden stars and more. Have stayed here many years now and every time the experience has been even better. highly recommend this hotel. By far the greatest place to stay in Marrakesh. nothing to not like this place is the greatest get away.
• Rachel (5/5): Lovely building but not well maintained or managed. - We stayed here over 20 years ago and it was exceptional. Unfortunately this time it wasn’t so good. We had to move rooms as there was no Wi-Fi in the room we had been given. The air conditioning in our new room didn’t work, it was so hot at night as we couldn’t open the doors or windows because of mosquitoes and there is no netting to stop them coming in. One of the beds was so hard my husband and I had to take it in turns to sleep in it. Needless to say we didn’t sleep very well the whole stay. Last time we stayed the food was amazing, fresh salads, freshly squeezed strawberry and kiwi juice etc this time the food was average at best. We found a clump of cat hair in a salad we ordered for example. We found out that the management had changed some years ago and it just felt a bit run down and run into the ground now, such a shame as the building it self is beautiful. Disappointed and won’t be going back I’m afraid!

• Claudia (10/5): It exceeded my expectations. - - I loved our spacious room (a triple suite which was simply yet stunning decorated). - The entire property of the hotel is wonderful - a mix of rustic luxury, with a lovely garden (with Bougainvillea flowers, cats, turtles, pigeons), a nice pool (although the weather in late February did not allow swimming), and beautiful local wood decorations. It is heaven compared to the chaos in central Marrakech. - The food menu is short but all food is very tasty (tajine with prunes and beef was my favorite and my daughter loved the apple pie and the crepes at breakfast). - The hammam experience is a must. - Special thanks to the entire staff! We enjoyed our talks and learned many things about Moroccan life from our chats. Keep up the good work! - As a woman, at the beginning I felt a bit unsafe walking in the area surrounding the hotel. But there were no incidents whatsoever. It was a Moroccan experience in itself. - We would have enjoyed more vegetables in the menu, especially at breakfast. But this is only a personal choice; the breakfast was generous and very tasty (although too many sweets for our taste).

• Richard (9/5): Stepping into a fairytale - This was our first night in Morocco and the place was absolutely breathtaking. We arrived in the dark and it just looked like a fairytale. It is very beautifully decorated. We were also very happy to have a good meal in this place where there is nothing around. We were very curious about the rest of the rooms and the manager took the time to show us some of them the next morning. All absolutely beautiful. Staff was very friendly as well. We had a great stay here and would definately recommend it for a beautiful experience. Our room was on the side of the road so sometimes you would hear a motorbike or a car passing by.

• Akhilesh (9/5): Lovely experience at the place - they made our Marrakech stay fabulous! :D - The overall hospitality was fabulous - everything was great! The only thing I could say is the place could have a slightly better approach to the property. As you're about to come close the property, you feel like the surroundings are not the great. But once you've checked-in, it is great! Also, this place hardly has access to public transport, but it was okay for us as we either had taxis or had rented a car.

• Lpt100812 (8/5): In short, Caravan Serai is a beautiful oasis of calm, a great place to refresh and recharge. - This was our third time back to the beautiful & calm Caravan Serai. We stayed in the Beldi Suite which is a lovely 2-bedroom room with it's own pool and sun-deck area. It also has a separate walk-in wardrobe and bathroom with a separate WC. We love this room because you can relax together as a family instead of using the larger main pool, although that pool is beautiful as well. The building is an older building, so some people may say that cleaning is an issue, but personally I think it is part of the charm of an older building and I would say that the property is clean with the cleaning staff onsite very often. The property does seem to have lost of it's snugs and artwork compared to we were last there, but it was 8 years ago! The bird life and tortoises are lovely, and there is a pushy cat who will expect to be petted, but that all adds to the old world charm of staying in Morocco. The reception team are accommodating and arranged for a real wood fire to be lit on one of the nights we stayed, which was a nice touch...the house wine is reasonable and of good quality, it is a Morrocan wine, although I can't recall the exact name. It was nice to have a midnight swim and a sip of red wine whilst the stars shone and the family were asleep. The massages are great, and we had fun in the hammam which was nice to do as a family and it makes your skin feel so refreshed after, well worth doing early on in your trip. The hotel is about a 20min drive from the Medina, but for us, it is a quiet oasis of calm that we feel is our little secret. I'd recommend it for a few days relaxation, but not longer than that. The food. We actually requested a local soup called 'Harrira' which was made for us by the chefs, it was beautiful. The cous cous is delicious as well. As for the rest of the food, it could do with improvement and variety, if only they'd showcase the delicacies of Morocco as opposed to trying to accommodate western tourists wanting a poor quality hamburger, they'd be on to a winner! Anyway, the food could be better, it's okay for a night or two but not longer than that. We went to the Mandarin Oriental one night and the food there was exceptional, and only as expensive as what you'd pay for a decent night out in London.
• Ramona (10/5): Exceptional - Everything about this hotel is beautiful, the staff are so warm, friendly and welcoming, the food is authentic produce, home cooked and delicious and the building itself…well it is like something out of a dream! Situated in a peaceful village overlooking agricultural land and palm trees the atmosphere is very soothing with the sounds of birds. Aesthetically it just doesn’t get any better! ❤️ Wonderful place.

If you are planning to take advantage of spa treatments, I would call them in advance to make sure the spa will be open during your stay. I found that the hours were not always consistent with several hotels in Morocco. Enjoy!!

• Joseph (6/5): Caravan Serai review - The hotel staff are lovely and very welcoming. Guests can be subjects of mosquito bites, depending on what room. Our room was infested with mosquito. Their needs to be more variety of food as they have a very limited menu. Finally, the property and facilities can do with some general update, that would be nice. Overall, I will say it's average.
• Fayola (8/5): Beautiful stay with a traditional feel. - The room was very large, felt like the size of an apartment. The outdoor pool area was equally spacious and very rustically beautiful. The hotel food was delicious, we had a chicken tagine for lunch which was great. Staff were also very helpful when it came to booking a range of activities. It is quite remote and cabs weren't cheap which mean it can be expensive if you want to do a lot of activities in central Marrakesh. But considering this hotel was cheaper than some other options without private pool facilities the cost evened it self out.
• Marcus (10/5): Beautiful oasis in Marrakech! - We had a night at Carvan Serai as a stop in Marrakech. We loved it so much we spent a second night. It is like an oasis on the edge of Marrakech. The rooms are beautiful and every nook and cranny delivers a visual joy. The food and wine were top notch and the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. After our motorcycle rental fell through they even helped us hire a car. Couldn’t recommend highly enough. Thank you Caravan Serai. Only that we couldn’t stay longer.
