Guest Reviews

- Doug (4/5): - The staff was helpful. The bed was ok.
The room smelled of cigarettes. It was dark with all the lights on. The wifi was barely usable. It was very inconvenient to get to. 20 min to any subway.

- Verified traveler (8/5): - lugar tranquilo, habitaciones viejas, y servicios promedio
- Pedro A (6/5): - Bien

- Verified traveler (10/5): - El trato muy bueno
- Holly (2/5): Unless you are a local, don't stay. - I am very disappointed, the hotel is hot and in a less than safe area. None of the staff speak English. The reviews you see on hotels.com are VERY misleading. The wifi is non existent and the "A/C" is a fan that blows hot air around.
I was only able to bear one night and my wife and I had to move to a different hotel closer to the city center. We were told that this hotel is for locals. Not for tourists, so please bear that in mind! The price is good, but you're paying for what you will get. Poor room, poor a/c, poor wifi, and poor communication.
- Verified traveler (8/5): OK for a couple of nights - OK for a couple of nights. Reasonably clean. Very dark rooms. Good water pressure.
A bit rundown.
You can find better for about the same very nearby.
- J.Bond (8/5): - Its good for what you pay for. The staff are welcoming and friendly.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very very good hotel and cheap - It is a very good hotel for the money. Room is perfect size. Bathroom is good. Staff don't speak English but that's not a problem really. First I thought it was hard to get to, but the metrobus drives very near. The area is safe.. Some told me it was close to Tepito and therefore unsafe (probably the reason for the low price), but the hotel is not located there and because it's close you will see police guarding the area more often. I felt hundred percent safe.
- Javier (8/5): Universal is chill - It’s a cool convenient spot. I like the set up of privacy in the way the building interior is setup.
- Vacationer (8/5): - It is in a nondescript yet peaceful area and I had a good sleep. The staff are nice and they let me check in early. It is a short walk to a local market, and walkable to two supermarkets. It is a bit far from tourist attractions as well as subway, but close to a metro bus station at which you can take the brt along the reforma Blvd to Alameda Central and other points of interest.
- Dy (6/5): - If you can use taxi or bus, it would be fine. Price is the strongest point above all.
- Howard (8/5): - Sept 8-15. Excellent value for the price. Clean rooms, friendly staff, bed a little hard but I am spoiled. Guadalupe street has many stores and restaurants. Reforma street is around corner with buses running into city central constantly for 6 pesos. Only suggestion I would offer hotel is brighter lights. Thank you staff for being so helpful.
- Biscuitroot (10/5): - Small rooms but clean and very quiet. Close to Tres Cultures and Indigenous Museum.
- Amanda (10/5): Great value for the price - Great hotel for the price! Room is clean, bed is comfortable, neighborhood is quiet. There's food stands around the corner, a restaurant and pharmacy across the street and bus stops a block away.
We lost power with a tremor from the Oaxaca earthquake, and they had it back up a few hours later, even though it went out after 5pm.
The shower set up is kind of odd, because the shower sits almost right over the toilet, so the toilet ends up needing to be dried off. The entire room only had 2 plugins to charge our electronics... And one of those was in the bathroom. Comes with being an old building, I suppose.
Neighborhood felt safe. My teen and I walked home after dark a few times and didn't feel uncomfortable at all.
- Daniel (8/5): Great for the money. - You get what you pay for. The office staff are great, always ready to help you. Good location.
- Juan (6/5): OK for an airport layover - I arrived at the airport around 11pm. The sitio official taxi was around 260 pesos going to the hotel. It took about 15 minutes. I paid for the room in pesos. They had a cooler stocked with cold beer in the reception that they were selling for 25 pesos per can. This saved me trying to find a convenience store. At 6am the receptionist got me a taxi. The driver was sleeping in one of rooms. He had an older cab and I paid 120 pesos. It took maybe 20 minutes. There is a fair amount of talking from reception area echoing around to the rooms, so draining a few cervezas helps.
- Jacquelyn (8/5): Small, clean, efficient! - I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Hostel prices without hostel nonsense.
- David S (10/5): Highly Recommended - Superior value for cost. Quiet. Comfortable. Nice amenities. Pillows were too firm.
- David S (8/5): Would Stay Here Any Time. - Very good value for cost. Nice amenities.
- Nat (8/5): Get what you pay for - For a really reasonably cheap hotel, it's not so bad. The room was clean and relatively comfortable. The staff weren't very hands on which was actually nice for me.
The hotel wasn't really close to the tourist areas but it felt safe enough. And it's only a half hour or so walk to Zócalo and Plaza de tres culturas.
The only issues were that the room was bright 24/7 and the hotel echoed meaning any phone calls through to reception were heard clearly on my third floor room.
Also, the door didn't latch easily which led to a constant paranoia that someone could walk in during the night.
- Juliana (6/5): OK budget motel. - I stayed for 3 nights at this hotel. Things mostly passed by without incidence except on the 2nd night the toilet broke and I reported it the next morning to the front desk reception. It was a simple problem. Basically the chain that connected the flush lever to lift the cap that drains the tank had broken and could be simply fixed with a string or zip tie. The guy at the front desk spoke some English and he told me it would be fixed within a few hours so I left to go about my day. However, when I came back in the evening I found that nothing had been done and my room was not even cleaned. I went back to the reception, but now it was a different guy working there and he didn't speak English. I told him about the toilet but with my limited Spanish I had trouble telling him that I'd already reported this before in the morning to the other guy. He then ordered a worker to take a look at my toilet. The worker did this and came back telling me he would come back to fix it in the morning. So I argued with him in my broken Spanish but I don't think he understood me trying to tell him that I'd already been promised the toilet getting fixed in the morning. In any case because of my persistence he finally agreed to fix the toilet with a plastic zip tie. This hotel is just OK if you want a cheap basic place to stay. The neighbourhood is pretty safe. There is a great taco place a few blocks north. My room only had 1 light fixture and was a bit dim at night. The bathroom was brighter.
- Joe (10/5): Good value and nice and quiet - Lovely man on the reception, we stayed for 4 nights and he gave us the option to swap to a bigger room with a window when it became available. Room cleaned everyday and a new bottle of water supplied. Toiletries also topped up everyday. Nice and quiet
- gt350 (10/5): - I love the room and the price and the location of the place
- Victor (8/5): Good Hotel for the price - Good service and great price
- Paul (8/5): It fit my needs - Arrived. The host was helpful.Able to point me in the direction of bank and
eats.Solid value.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Accommodating staff - The manager of the hotel didn't notice my requests of the room. When he realized his mistake, he compensated me with two bottles of water. It matters isn't the bottles of water, but his attitude to make it right and satisfy the customer.
- Verified traveler (8/5): overnight in mex - perfect for a night or two, location is good for connexx via mex. also close to downtown , several places to eat nearby. excellent staff here. for the low price this is a great hotel
- Steven (8/5): Great place for the money! - I liked the place. They keep it clean including the floor, sheets, and towels. The staff was helpful and friendly. I do not know Spanish but they knew enough English to communicate and help me. It is more of a motel than a hotel, but many of these places are nicer than budget hotels. Yes, you have a couple adult channels. However, this is almost 2016 and we are all adults. I cannot say the neighborhood is safe at night but came back late and walked from the taxi to the front door in seconds; never worried. It seemed fine and nice to me during the day. Expect to pay about $10 US to use Uber round trip to the Zocalo areas. More or less depending on time and traffic.
Ps. I had room 301. The room is very dark when you close the curtains. Love it! Great for sleeping. It was mostly quiet but did have some noise at times that could bother some. It didn't me. I have also learned to travel using an app on my phone that provides background noise. It works wonders.
- D. (4/5): Really a 1-star motel, not as listed - Not a hotel but a very noisy and run-down motel, in a dicey area, far from attractions. Very cheap but you will pay the difference in taxi costs, etc. Other reviews say that the hotel is on several bus lines, which can connect you to the train station and other places, and that is true. However, it is impossible to get onto a bus or train during peak hours: they are packed solid, with human bodies smashed against the entry doors, between 3 pm-9 pm, and passengers are acting violently as they try to push onto or out of the doors. Also, very noisy, at all hours of the day and night.
- Mario (8/5): Safe, comfortable and clean. - Even tho I only stayed for a night I can really recommend. Staff was friendly and helpful. Close to the airport. Clean and spacious room with flat TV. Wifi was very fast. A bargain. Overall, very happy with the hotel.
- SHUWEI (8/5): A nice place to stay in DF - It's nice to stay in Mexico City at such a cheap price. The hotel is small but clean. This hotel is not near any metro station. The staff was very nice and friendly but I guess they don't speak English at all.
- Juan (8/5): For the price it was worth it. - For the price of the hotel it was worth it. The rooms were clean, and location was right in the center of the city.
- Rafael (4/5): We received a bad service - No body informed us that we were supposed to leave our room key in order for it to get cleaned, so our room didn't get cleaned for 2 days until we found out the trick and from then on they cleaned it every day. Also the older man at the reception has a terrible attitude!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Satisfactory. A basic functional hotel, but with excellent staff. Not a good location for the historic centre, though accessible from the nearest metro station 0.5 miles away
