The staff went absolutely above and beyond, helping us hire a local babysitter, packing us specialized meals to go, checking in even if two folks has already eaten lunch but they knew another person in our party had not yet. And so many activities on offer with guide! Pool was big and had a large shallow end, which our two kids loved. GORGEOUS views and property. Stunning and can’t wait to return!
Leslie (8/5): - This place is really, really remote. You eat what they have, you do what they offer, etc. No roaming about looking for restaurants, shops, etc. Power issues meant no internet most of the time and I had to pay cash ($1500) for the stay and the spa treatments. Staff is perfect and brought tea to my room when i felt ill. Swimming pool and view is amazing

Chrischeri (10/5): We went for an upmarket cloud forest experience - mission accomplished. - Kapari is by itself on the side of a slope leading down to the Rio Blanco. The forest there (there's a lot of it!), all the way to the river at least, is owned by Kapari, and there are well laid out paths all over. The hotel was super clean - no mean feat in the jungle! Rooms were large with basic facilities (no TV etc.) and very limited wifi with better wifi near reception. There were pretty modern, nice bathrooms, comfy big beds and our room looked out over the whole valley uninterrupted, which was breathtaking. The hotel grounds are studded with native plants and flowering bushes - very beautiful. There are 2 main feeder sites/hides for birds (and at least 2 others which were smaller). The lower one nearer the jungle was outstanding, attracting mammals as well. You could spend the whole day there. There were 4 free optional walks a day - all were worthwhile. The night one was an experience - lots of cool and somewhat scary things! There were always four or more choices of food - but we found the kitchen was very flexible on sauce type etc. and willing to accommodate any requests. The quality was as good or better as any around. The cerviche palmitta is not to be missed! The staff - and I'll mention Jose (front office), Adrian (restaurant) and Gabriel (guide) - were awesome. They could not be more helpful. We had a really good experience here - I took over 600 photos a day of the fauna (mainly birds). The road to the cloud forest is very beautiful but slow and dangerous. If you want to go anywhere in Mindo, Los Bancos (Kapari's location) etc., you have to take it. The wifi/phone signal was weak - if that matters to you (good enough for Email). It seems to be that way in most of Ecuador!

Katrina (8/5): Wondeful staff, environs, meals, and pool - Important: This hotel is now called the Tagara. It is tough to find things in Ecuador and having the wrong name on the signs does not help. This locale is beautiful, the pool gorgeous, and the staff, especially the general manager, Bernard, are wonderful. But this is more of a corporate retreat in style. However, a great escape from Quito or a great place to spend a night when making the drive from the coast to Quito. For Westerners I think the nightly stay with included meals is a fair price. It lacks some fine touches: no bathrobes, no AC, the hot tub is filled by transferring water by bucket from the main pool, and the rooms can have a certain scent to them, which is understandable in the humidity. The staff is lovely: warm, helpful, humorous, humble. The WiFi was down due to a lightening strike when we were there for a night in June. There might be equally nice places near by, but I do recommend this one, just please change the name to match the signs on the road: very confusing! I also note we easily reached this hotel in our compact rental car: the roads are very good.
