Guest Reviews
- Ian (9/5): Excellent friendly hotel with great facilities for dogs. - The food, the friendly staff, the facilities for dogs and the overall location And comfort provided. Some troubles with the Wi-Fi.
- Michael (10/5): Excellent Hotel would definitely stay again and would highly recommend to anyone visiting the Isle of Wight. - Everything from the moment we arrived, friendly helpful staff, beautiful hotel, lovely gardens, plenty to do onsite. Dinner was excellent and breakfast selection was absolutely amazing with a fantastic choice. We especially enjoyed the huge choice of prepared fresh fruit, yogurt, seeds, cranberries, pastries etc. and plenty of choice on the cooked breakfast menu. We were travelling on our bikes and there was a place to wash your bike and a secure bike store. Nothing
- Andy (8/5): Lovely old style hotel - Lovely old style hotel, spacious room, in a good location with a 15 min walk to restaurants.
100% dog friendly hotel (if you don’t like dogs then maybe it’s not for you)
- Chris (8/5): - Room size and view from the room.... didnt get time to use pools etc unfortunately ans my daughter lived that it was dog friendly. They was nothing not to like... needed another day on the island to enjoy.the.hotel more... all my fault haha
- Hazel (7/5): Hotel for dogs - This is an old fashioned hotel - for dogs. Great if you want a holiday with your dog. We booked it as it was the only place available in the area for our coastal walk around the island. It wasn't made clear that there was no restaurant and we had to go to the sister hotel if we wanted dinner. We did and it was very nice. Because the hotel had not been refurbished since ???? there was actually a bath in the bathroom. As we were walking round the coastal path this was welcome.
Breakfast was ok and up to standard. Need more information about facilities.
- CHRISTEL (8/5): Magnifique - L’emplacement et la qualité de services. Le personnel très accueillant, serviable et souriant. Breakfast excellent Lavabo salle d’eau trop petit

- Heather (9/5): Excellent hotel - very dog friendly and wonderful staff - The staff were extremely helpful; it really is a very dog-friendly hotel. Our room had a sea view as requested and twin zip-linked beds. There was a goody bag for our dog, and he was given sausages for breakfast. There was also a dog-wash station outside the hotel, with warm water, which our older dog was very happy with. The selection at breakfast, particularly the fresh fruit salad, was outstanding (best I have experienced). We saw a red squirrel in the wooded area next to the hotel, and there were lovely walks and lots of activities in the hotel grounds. Nothing
- Brian (7/5): Enjoyable few days in a lovely property in a very nice part of the island. - Lovely property and grounds. Decorated tastefully and extremely clean.
We hadn’t realised that this is a very dog friendly hotel but this did not cause us any problems. The staff were charming, especially Brooke on reception who is a star! Breakfast was excellent. We had a rather small bedroom overlooking the car park and the bed was a standard double. We are used to a king sized bed so didn’t find it very comfortable. Also it would be nice to have a few extras in the room such as tissues, a shower cap and maybe a bottle of water.
- Michelle (10/5): We had a lovely time - The staff the breakfast and the fact that you could use two outdoor pools
- Jayne (10/5): Welcoming family and dog friendly hotel - great location; great staff
- Douglas (9/5): The hotel and service was exceptional. Such good service. Throughly recommended - I loved the location and the amenities included with the booking It was generally all fine
- Özgül (9/5): Brilliant hotel to stay - Clean, kids friendly, staffs are so kind and helpful. Location is great. Lots of entertainments. It would be an extra bonus if it has beach access.
- Alex (10/5): Great stay - The location was great and the room was comfortable! The room was quite small and the breakfast was expensive.

- Sven (9/5): Wonderful - Great location, friendly staff, excellent brealfast. Nice surroundings, direct seaview and super dog friendly. NA
- Oner (7/5): good value but pictures are oversteting the quality - Great staff & great location that has view and walking distance to Shanklin beach. For the price, good value. The pictures are overstating the reality of the rooms. A bit worn out, and beds dont have enough support, you can fall down at the edge. Not good noise insulation, we could hear our neighbors all night.
- Caron Lesley (9/5): - Location and style NA
- Rebecca (10/5): -
- leanne (9/5): - Amazing, so dog friendly! Would definitely return Rooms a little hot! Better air conditioning needed
- SACHIN (8/5): Overall good stay - Everything about the hotel and staff was great Blinds do not black out the room. we wake up early ,due to all the light in the room after sunrise
- John (1/5): - Badly let down.

- Dyer (1/5): Disappointing - My husband Neville Dyer booked the ferry . He called Luccombe manor and booked the ferry . He came home from work tired but wanted to get this issue out of the way . I sat beside him while he booked . He was specific that he needed a evening ferry , which would've been 20:20 , however . I soon found out that for this establishment their conversations are not clear . My husband asked for a evening ferry due to the fact that we would be traveling when he gets home from work , however . They booked the ferry for 8:20 am instead of 20:20 pm . Our book-in details says checking in is from 3-10 pm on Friday . Why would be be there from 8:20 am . To make matters worst , the staff seems helpless when they called while we were on our way . They were helpless to even try and assist us properly by calling the ferry and change our traveling time . MY HUSBAND and I slept at the ferry dock in Porthmouth and was not on a ferry until 1:30 am the next day , which was Saturday . We were charged for 2 nights , however . We didn't spend 2 nights there , we slept at a port in Portmouth . Saturday evening I called to book dinner for 2 . The staff member didn't even tell me where dinner was served . We assumed it was at the manor as that was where we were staying and where we had breakfast . When we arrive downstairs we were told that dinner is at their other property next door . My husband and I went out in the rain to find the other hotel , however after not knowing exactly where to go , we went and told the staff , to direct us , however. His directions were not clear so we got frustrated and got take out instead .
- Wendy (8/5): Lovely dog-friendly hotel by the sea and within walking distance of Shanklin old village, worth a vi - Had a lovely 4 night stay at this hotel in March, fortunately during one of the sunniest weeks of the year so far. The staff were very friendly and we had a lovely sea view room, very large with lots of storage and fab views. The hotel is very welcoming to dogs, which was appreciated. It's in a great location, opposite Rylestone gardens where we could enjoy an early morning walk and saw a squirrel, it's a short walk alongside Shanklin Chine into Shanklin old village and a 20 minute walk down to the beach. On arrival as I was getting out of the car in the car park I spotted a red squirrel running along the fence (we were excited about the red squirrels as we never saw any last time we visited the IOW). We also enjoyed the swimming pool, sauna and hot tub in the sister hotel a couple of times and had it to ourselves, which was great.
Bonus feature: I loved the electric blinds in the room, I could lay in bed in the early morning and put the blinds up and see the sun rising over the sea - lovely. Would recommend this hotel and would definitely like to come again. Had breakfast once, the choice was great but I didn't particularly enjoy the hot breakfast itself. Also one time we ordered a takeaway meal, unfortunately they notified the wrong room when it was ready for collection so by the time we got it, it was stone cold. My husband took it back to the main hotel and as it was getting late he just asked for it to be reheated, sadly my macaroni cheese came back half the size! Disappointing but to be fair to them the hotel did not charge us for this meal. Hopefully this was just an unfortunate one off incident.
- Sarah (9/5): Holiday - lots of things for children, very dog friendly the food
- Manohar (9/5): -
- craig (10/5): restored and taking happy memories with me. - general totality. nothing
- Jane (10/5): Can’t wait to return to this super hotel! - Wonderful staff and very dog friendly! Nothing! We look forward to visiting again
- Rashid (8/5): -
- chris (9/5): Very nice but the restaurant leaves something to be desired - Very clean and well maintained, nice staff and excellent breakfast. The hotel is in a very nice location and is very peaceful. The restaurant in the sister hotel is not to the the same standard as Luccombe manor, there is no atmosphere and the food is very average.
- Nihar (8/5): Clean, comfortable and value for money - Beautiful location, comfortable stay, value for money Some of the facilities were closed possibly due to season
- Jacob (10/5): - Staff were wonderful, could not do enough to help. All main areas were cleaned to perfection, amazing decor, attention to detail was incredible. The room was simply stunning with amazing views, comfortable and warm. The pool, games room and gardens were all incredible. Breakfasts were best we have ever had and dinner at the luccombe hall was exceptional. Absolutely perfect stay. Could not fault a thing. I didn't like the fact this place is rated only a 3 star on booking.com! Madness! This is a 5 star in our view. Just perfection!
- Isabel (10/5): -
- peters (8/5): Friendly and comfy and homely - Breakfast room is Sunny and comfy
EV charger for my car was very much appreciated
- Julia (10/5): - Beautiful room with stunning view, great location, staff very friendly and helpful, very good breakfast.
- joseph Savier (8/5): -
- Syretta (10/5): Comfortable, relaxing and great location. - Relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Evening takeaway from hotel was convenient and very tasty. Eco packaging was a thoughtful touch. Same eco ethos running through tea coffee and bathroom products in room, without compromising on quality.
- Trevor (6/5): Hotel nice staff friendly but was exhausted through lack of sleep - Nice room breakfast good The either side were very noisy on one side to was on loud until late and other side a family with a very loud daughter started at 5 in morning there was no quidence to a little less shouting which would have helped we were shattered
- Mohammed (10/5): I would definitely recommend this hotel - It’s was lovely. Really enjoyed it
- Fitzgerald (10/5): - I loved every minute at the hotel, staff were excellent lots of facilities, food delicious would highly recommend I liked everything absolutely no negatives.

- Dhayananth (9/5): -
- Joan Aulait (4/5): -
- Will (8/5): - Clean and tidy
Very friendly staff
Good location and excellent facilities As above
- Mark (9/5): #outandabout2906 - The location and facilities, were great. You could also use the sister hotel which had a pool spar and games room. The food in the restaurant was excellent. The staff were very attentive especially a young lady called Brook on reception very helpful and extremely polite. The only thing we didn’t like was the rooms sound proofing. We had two lovely quiet nights until some new guests arrived on our last night who unfortunately could not shut a door using the handle and would let it slam shut!
Unfortunately we have found this in almost all the hotels we have stayed in. It would be good practice to remind all guests on arrival that it’s a hotel with other people staying in it!
- karen (10/5): Just lovely and relaxing - Love this hotel. Hadn’t been for a couple of years and they have taken it up a notch with some updating. Love it even more now. Nothing
- Prerak (1/5): -
- Stephen (10/5): Well worth a visit. - A lovely hotel. Extremely dog friendly.
Room was lovely and clean and the meal we had there was very good.
- Carlos (10/5): Exceptional and unique - The facilities, the food, the garden and the cliff. All was good
- david (8/5): - Very good breakfast - excellent choices available. Kettle in room did not fit under bathroom tap so filling with water was difficult.
- Malcolm (7/5): - Very helpful staff. Access to indoor pool. Good location. Bedroom build and fittings very cheap. Very bright white lights. Poor soundproofing between rooms, floors, corridor.
- YING (10/5): -
- Kayleigh (10/5): -
- Phil (7/5): Comfortable - Classic old seaside hotel, the room was very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. It may be the time of year, but yeah, outside did look tired. But the building has some fabulous features.
- michelle (8/5): -
- Philip (8/5): Fine for that I needed, staying 1 night for work - Despite reading how it was a very Pro dog hotel I didn’t see one dog and the room was clean and didn’t smell of dog. Very welcoming on the front desk and great being able to use the spa facilities at the sister hotel. Could also see the see :-) Breakfast was expensive so I walked in to Shanklin for a cracking full English at half the price
- T (9/5): -
- JohnGarvey (7/5): -
- Catherine (8/5): Nice seaside hotel - Lovely location on the cliff top facing South East. My first room (28) had a strange smell so the reception changed me to a lovely quiet room 10, also away from the front door where dog walkers were chatting loudly and smoking. Both rooms had baths and showers which I like. The breakfast is first class. Very convenient for the Chine. This is a very pro dog hotel. The first thing you see when you go in through the door are things for dogs. Dogs are allowed in the dining room and because owners keep their dogs away from other dogs, they were hard to get away from. There was a big rolling video screen of dogs in one room.
The indoor swimming pool is in the sister hotel next door and is quite small for a hotel of such a size. It didn't seem too appealing.
- heidie (8/5): - breakfast is nice We booked dinner for a celebrating my husband bday. The food was dry, each meal is ready to serve. So we did not wait long which I think is to rush. But we enjoyed our night as it was my husband bday.
- Buswell (10/5): Great stay and comfortable room - The location is great, great views from room as well, the breakfast was fresh and filling and a great atmosphere in restaurant, the location is spot on, with great access to the beach The light on bathroom mirror wouldnt turn off so had a glow from bathroom all night, even with door shut
- Simon (10/5): - The facilities and staff N/A
- Gary (8/5): -
- Donna (10/5): A lovely pleasant stay in a very clean hotel lovely views and excellent breakfast - Lovely beautiful and very clean in our room lovely clean fresh towels everyday and coffee and biscuits was a nice touch the staff were all very friendly and polite. The breakfast was amazing because of the great choice.Loved the swimming pool and hot tub in both hotels .The hotel is set in an excellent location to the bars, shops and the Chine and not to far from the beach which was great loved the views, also would like to thank Brook who looked after our bags on our last day as we had to vacate our room @11 and our Ferry was not till 6.15 meant we could do a little more sightseeing and shopping without having to carry our bags which was a great help Although I know the hotel is a dog friendly place which is great if you own a dog/dogs i was not really comfortable with the fact dogs could come into the dining areas just think personally it was not very hygienic especially whilst eating my breakfast think they should allocate certain areas for owners and their dogs to eat their food
- Caroline Wendy (8/5): Lovely location and facilities, could improve in certain areas. - Leisure facilities clean appealing
Breakfast plenty of choice Sea view paid and booked, but hardly a seaview - none from 2 windows and partial from 3rd
7 nt stay and no change of bed sheets at all
Door to room sometimes did not close automatically, had to be physically pulled hard to close fully
- David (10/5): - Views from the room and restaurant were excellent
Breakfast and meals were excellent can’t recommend this hotel enough
- jill (9/5): Loved it - Friendy staff, swimming pool, food Some evening meals repeated
- Duncan (8/5): Comfortable and enjoyable, needs some updating - Great staff, very clean, super dog friendly, lovely location Room very warm as no air conditioning, pool too cold, dates feeling.

- Gary (9/5): Excellent staff, nothing was to much trouble -
- eileen (6/5): Pleasant - Lovely location You had to eat in the hotel next door for evening meal. Our room was quite dated not offer of upgrade. Hotel was very quite when we stayed which is no fault of the hotel but there was no atmosphere
- Douglas (10/5): We were both very satisfied with ever aspect of our stay.perhaps if anything it is expensive - It was an extremely pleasant location with a very high standard of quality. All staff were a pleasure to talk with. Good clean and incredibly pleasant
- karl (9/5): -
- Shubhendu (9/5): Superb stay. Love to come again. - Location. Nothing…..
- tracy (10/5): Simply the best hotel we have stayed in. - The service was spot on. The breakfast was excellent and a large variety of English cooked or continental, or both. The bed was comfortable and the view from the dining room. We found the bathroom a bit small but we got used to it and made the most of it. The main thing about the bathroom was it was very clean.one of
- BRIDGET (9/5): -
- Julie (9/5): My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay with great food lovely staff …..definitely a place I would return to even t - The views were great, location perfect to allow us to explore some of the island , food was excellent and not too pricey either and staff very helpful and friendly I wouldn’t class this as a “spa” hotel it did have an indoor pool with hot tub ….a sauna which could only accommodate two at a squeeze and no forms of beauty treatment etc available
