- George (9/5): Hotel was up to my expectations. Fantastic walks all around hotel and area. Would recommend hotel. - Location perfect a lovely 20 minute stroll to Aberfoyle.
Breakfast very good, dinner again very good value for money. My room clean and warm. Staff friendly and attentive. Super dog friendly Some parts of hotel need updating.

- Marie-Christine (9/5): - The hotel was well situated, comfortable & despite being near main roads, it was quiet.
- Chwee Lin (7/5): Clean and comfortable base to explore the countryside - The hotel is a short, lovely walk from Aberfoyle, the Lodge Forest Visitor Centre and shorter walks around the countryside.
Staff are kind and helpful and try to accommodate particular needs where possible
The mattress was firm and very comfortable! Walls are a bit thin so I can hear conversations and the sounds of the TV from the next room.
- Ilka (8/5): Perfekt für unsere Bedürfnisse (Besuch eines Taiko Festivals in Aberfoyle). - Bequeme Betten. Gute Lage.
- McDonald (7/5): Comfortable and quiet. - Nice hotel a little dated but it was clean and comfortable. Nothing.
- Robert (8/5): Night away in the Trossachs - Good buffet breakfast. Clean, functional bedroom...nothing fancy. Nothing
- Ian (8/5): - Location good as was room size Barmaid when I was there seemed to be away from the bar more than she was at the bar!

- robert (8/5): We had a lovely quiet weekend in lovely surroundings. - Room was well laid out and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent as were the facilities. We had dinner which was slightly overcooked but tasty. The bar area was pleasant and well stocked. Staff were lovely throughout our stay. Reception was efficient, pleasant and well stocked were quickly processed. Tha nk you. When we entered our room there was a smell of body odour which seemed to linger even with an open window.
- Julie (9/5): - Great location
- Janice (9/5): A wonderful escape weekend - The location was great. The hotel was warm and inviting. The staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Thankyou Would have liked clean towels for the second night, and didn't get our coffee/tea etc filled up.
- George (10/5): Great location, excellent food and service - We’ll set out, nice and warm. NO problems
- McGlinchey (7/5): Nice . Just what I needed . - Breakfast was perfect . Just what I needed to set me up for the day ahead . A later chekout and the weather .
- Lorraine (8/5): Great location. although a little outdated the hotel was extremely clean and we would return - The stuff was friendly and the hotel was extremely clean. Good location and food was good We thought the rooms were dated
- Marion (7/5): - The Hotel helped when we wanted a Room with a bath tub. They sorted it without a problem .Staff were very Friendly and helpful. Room was basic but very clean. Everything we needed. Good location , walked along the River to Aberfoyle.

- Robbins (10/5): - There really wasn't anything to dislike. The rooms were clean. The bed was clean. Staff couldn't do enough for you. Breakfast was lovely on a morning. About 20 minutes walk into town. I honestly don't think there was anything to dislike about this hotel. We enjoyed over 2 night stay here
- Andy (7/5): Pleasant and friendly stay. Nice bar. Good value. -
- Anna (9/5): -
- Reka (4/5): Clean hotel in a nice area, but noise and poor breakfast service ruined my stay. - The room was clean, quiet, and although a bit dated, perfectly acceptable. Check-in was smooth, and I chose the last breakfast slot at 9:30. The room (234) was quite a walk from reception, but that was not a major issue. Unfortunately, my stay was disrupted by a very loud noise during the night, which I was later told was due to water pressure in the pipes. It kept me awake from around 3am to 6am.
Breakfast was the most frustrating part. I arrived just a few minutes after my 9:30 slot, found no staff, and made myself tea and toast. When the waitress appeared, she told me I was “20 minutes late,” but after a short discussion, it was still only 9:42. Despite this, I was asked to move tables, then told to move again to the bar before my order could be taken — while other guests remained seated.
The interaction felt inconsistent and unwelcoming. I may be mistaken, but I couldn’t help feeling I was treated differently from other guests, which left me uncomfortable.
It’s a shame as the area is beautiful, but this experience affected my stay.
Recommendation: do not offer a 9:30 breakfast slot if the kitchen effectively closes earlier, and ensure all guests are treated with the same courtesy irrespective of their ethnic background.
I would not return.
- Jacqueline (9/5): - Staff are always so nice. N/A

- SueMcK (7/5): Lovely place - basic food. - Location, with lovely riverside walk to Aberfoyle and wildlife including woodpeckers in the woods.
Comfortable room with ensuite.
Provided early breakfast from 7:30 am for early walking start. Food was not prepared to a high quality and not freshly prepared. Roast potatoes tasted like they had been reheated. Chicken dry and over cooked etc.
- Comper (7/5): - Very clean , nice staff . Location.
- Megan (7/5): -
- Lindsay (7/5): Perfectly adequate - Perfectly adequate bed for the night after a hike. Quite basic and dated.

- Sarah (7/5): Overall, lovely stay, just not as quiet as expected - Breakfast was nice, good choice. Room was lovely, spacious and comfortable Guests sitting in foyer area at night, drinking. Our room was at the start of the corridor so very noisy. Didn’t realise there was a party night on either when we booked
- Victoria (8/5): I shall definitely return - Location and cleanliness Nothing
- AncientFootsteps (6/5): Hotel fails to live up to its delightful location - Big comfy bed
Good buffet breakfast (although no particular cooked vegetarian option - you just don't take the various meat items)
Great location Our room was right at the far end of the building which should have been a quiet spot but the rooms have very poor sound insulation. So we could hear everything in the neighbouring room and every footstep overhead made the floorboards squeak.
Dogs barking in the corridors.
Staff seemed distant. The hotel was very busy with a large group and it felt as if they were a higher priority.
From reading reviews in advance I was prepared for the rather tired decor inside the hotel. But it was a surprise to see how neglected the grounds are. It wouldn't take much effort to tidy them up and improve the bedroom views. Hide the bins, clear up litter.
Not enough car parking spaces
- Michelle (8/5): Staff lovely good price for a nights stay - Nice location friendly staff
Food was delicious Bed mattress was awful far to hard
Needs a bit of updating
- colin (5/5): - Location Smokers at every door entry filling corridors. Eggs at breakfast like rubber, tattie scone tasted strange
- Patrick (8/5): -
- David (3/5): I feel it relies on the name and group bookings - The shower was great. Breakfast was okay and the room was a good size. The reception staff were very blunt, one word and that was it. The food for dinner was poor quality, it arrived 5 minutes after ordering so it was already prepared and given they had a theme night on in the main room, this was unsurprising. Beer taps were off on arrival and back on in the evening. It’s a little out of town if your walking the RRW and would stay in town if you can find something

- Adrian (7/5): -
- Susan (8/5): - Breakfast excellent, staff A1, evening meal 5 star and room standard, all in great value
