Guest Reviews
- Whitney (10/5): - Nothing
- Mark (8/5): -
- Anne (10/5): - The bed was really comfortable The shower was very, very small and there was no place to set your towel
- Dave (9/5): Very nice place location is good for a decent length walk to downtown. - One night stay, reasonable price compared to other hotels in the area, but overall the industry has lost its mind. I am noticing a 50% increase in hotel costs since COVID so I do not travel as much and I do everything I can to avoid hotels Nothing really. The building and hotel are unique and quant. Maintenance could be better, but most people will not see the issues that I as a long time homeowner who does my own maintenance sees, but the issues will cause larger problems down the road.
- Cooper (10/5): The best - Cozy and quiet
- Nascimento (9/5): -
- Angela (10/5): - Very cute, clean, and cozy. Good location, and staff communication and availability was great
- Robert (10/5): I highly recommend it for anyone staying in central Columbia meat director and USC. - Very clean and spacious. A completely remodeled house with large central living area. Check in was by electronic locks. Room was very clean and well designed. Ours was downstairs and accessible. Felt very secure. Nothing. It was great.
- Zepp (10/5): -
- Jonathan (10/5): -
- Philip (10/5): -
- Rachel (10/5): Relaxing overnight in the middle of Columbia with good access to everything - Everything was wonderful! The check in was easy, the place was beautiful, and the location was exceptional! Nothing. It was perfect!
- Christina (10/5): -

- Rachel (10/5): - 10/10. Safe. Convenient. Location was great. Lots of charm. Fast and friendly service. CLEAN. Beds and linen cozy. Overall EXCELLENT recommendation. A must when visiting Columbia. We will be back.
- Mikey (10/5): Comfy - No human interaction Thin walls
- Sheri (9/5): Wonderful stay…felt like home! - Beautiful property. Welcoming foyer and common area. Room was very comfortable. Plenty of parking. Loved the front porch balcony our room had! Location was a little removed, but still almost walkable to Main Street and other activities.
- Bak (10/5): Great comfortable stay close to everything!! - Location , very nice decor, very comfortable Noise and inconsistent hot water
- Nicole (10/5): -
- Anja (6/5): -
- Shelley (10/5): -
- Craig (8/5): -
- Shealy (8/5): -
- Kayla (4/5): Misleading Listing - Location. The listing stated there was a balcony in every room but that was not the case. I wouldn’t have booked here if that was made clear. The walls were also quite thin and you could hear everyone outside and it was very tense knowing that your neighbors could hear your conversations.
- Karen (10/5): - It was pleasant. Very clean and quiet. Seems more like a bed and breakfast, maybe some grab n go items would make it better but I loved it!
- Doug (10/5): - Everything about our stay was simple. I will be booking here again.
- Kristyna (9/5): -
- Stephen (8/5): Surprising ratings… don’t match experience - I signed up as an alternative to the typical Marriott because it was highly ranked -9.8- on hotels.com
Nice enough but with the cleaning fee cost was no less than a hotel in Columbia, zero service available, perhaps my error but expected more of a localized B&B type of experience and was disappointed. For business or personal use would rate as a clean but 8… not 9.8
On departure I spoke to 4-5 other guests and they were similarly surprised - certainly NOT exceptional
- Kimey (8/5): - Very nice but overpriced for the room.
- Cyndi (8/5): - This property is located in an area where many old, beautiful homes are being restored, but it is also about a half mile from what appeared to be a soup kitchen. The town appears to have somewhat of a homeless problem, but it would probably be safe enough during the day. This is a residential area with no restaurant, so you'll need a car.
My two biggest disappointments with this property were that there was no breakfast and no staff. It could be a great bed & breakfast, and maybe that is the ultimate goal, but it seems like they got it barely finished enough to rent out some rooms to finance the rest of the project. That's okay, but it is reflected in my rating. It is not a five-star yet.
The furnishings appear to be a mish-mash collection with no cohesive decor theme. I'm not picky, but I booked an inn with the expectation that it would be a step above a hotel.
There was no one to greet us. The doors were locked, and we had not received an email giving us check-in instructions. When I called, I had to leave a voicemail. A lady called me back promptly and apologized for not having sent check-in instructions. I understand mistakes happen, but even when we got inside, the place didn't have a welcoming feel. She upgraded us to a large suite, which was nice, but we didn't need the extra bedroom with twin beds, there were no comfy chairs to sit in to watch TV, we had to crawl on the floor to plug in our charging cables, and the hot tub was not functioning.
- Goran (10/5): Super cute - This was a first time we opted for something little different than hotel and I am so glad we did.
Next time we go to Columbia this will be the first pace we check availability for sure.
- Cynthia (10/5): - Bed was soo comfortable and sheets felt great. Easy entry and parking instructions - easy to be a guest here. Would stay here again and again!
- Eve (7/5): Decent value, but an ice machine is a must - Quiet (we were the only guests), clean, spacious.
Hosts were responsive via text message, but no staff was on site. There was no breakfast provided, even though it was indicated when I booked. No ice was available.
- Shaun (8/5): Beautiful historical home , nice large rooms - The furnishings in the room were beautiful. Close to good restaurants. The neighborhood was noisy with sirens going off consistently throughout the night. Could have offered more concessions besides coffee.
- Alice (8/5): Very good -
- Carl (9/5): Superb - NICE! Could've really enjoyed if I'd had more than 1 night!
- Charles (9/5): Superb -
- Hampton (10/5): - Great room for the weekend, clean & quiet. Thx
- Michael (10/5): Great place to stay. Quiet and comfortable -
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful building close to downtown - The building is beautiful -- rocking-chair front porch, wooden floors, very clean. Our room wasn't huge, but it was comfortable. I would have liked a bedside table on both sides of the bed, so maybe ask for that specifically if it's important to you. The showerhead is lower than average; it didn't bother me because I'm only 5-foot-2, but it might be a bit inconvenient if you are 6 feet.
I loved the keyless locks for the front and bedroom doors -- it's so much easier than keeping track of keys.
The inn is in a great location: less than a mile from downtown in a walkable part of the city.
There's no breakfast or food, but coffee and water is available, plus there is a little shared fridge and microwave.
- Jeanne (9/5): Was a great stay and would definitely stay again! - Room and area of town were quiet and pleasant. We were able to get around easily with a rental car to see area attractions.
Loved the soft fluffy towels, comfy bed and good toilette paper (little things like this are very nice!) Would have been nice to have had a continental breakfast included.
Shower in our room was very low.
- Kelly (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mary (7/5): Good -
- Leslie (10/5): Simply Lovely - 1425 Inn was nothing less than absolutely lovely. It is quiet, comfortable, and clean. My questions upon arrival were all answered and I felt very welcomed there. I highly recommend it!
- Susan (9/5): Lovely inn near campus at a reasonable price - Lovely furnishings and a very comfortable bed. Easy parking and access. Close to campus. Shower in our room was a tight space, but there was a charming tub, too. I received a nice text with instructions and a code for the house & room but no staff in sight during our stay. I would imagine is why the price was so reasonable for the level of furnishings. While the king bed was beautiful & comfortable, the height made it awkward to get into. I think the chairs at the foot of the bed were there to help as a step stool.
- Kelly (8/5): Very good - Unique. Very clean and comfortable No staff. No check in process. No breakfast.
- Kelly (8/5): Very good -
- Christin (10/5): - Amazing, clean, cozy
- Gina (10/5): - Our room was cute and spacious. The bed was super comfortable. The temperature control unit was also excellent. We also liked bejng able to fill our water bottles from the water cooler. We would stay here again.
- Alexander (10/5): Beautiful, convenient, great value! - I’ve stayed here twice now and it is my number one choice when staying in Columbia. The location, though surrounded by a fair amount of homeless, is fantastic to walk to downtown and I’ve never felt unsafe walking to or from the Inn. However, because the parking is so easy you can drive or Uber and not risk it if you’re uncomfortable.
The rooms are cozy and beautiful. Checking in and out is a breeze. I absolutely love it! If you’re focused on amenities and modern sinks/showers/tubs, this may not be the place for you. It’s a historic building and the facilities match that. However, everything is very clean and works perfectly. I personally enjoy the old-school feel.
- Corinne (6/5): - Room was sterile but bed was super comfy. We didn’t see a single other soul during our one-night stay. Location was good for visiting campus. There was NO breakfast.
- Matthew (6/5): - It should not be advertised as a B&B if it does not offer breakfast.
- Lindsay (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carolyn (10/5): A Gem in Columbia, SC - This is a beautiful Inn in the heart of Columbia, SC. The location is convenient to downtown. It was clean, the bed super comfy and a lovely room and home. I'd definitely stay here again.
- Ruprect (7/5): Good -
- Keon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kimberly (7/5): Good -
- Benjamin H (10/5): Great Short Stay - Great communication regarding check-in and codes to enter the property and room. Easy entry/exit, everything was clean, comfortable bed and nicely decorated room (Vista). It was quiet and charming. Some extra curricular next door woke me up at 2am but I was able to get back to sleep thanks to the blackout curtains and comfortable bed. Parking was easy in the front and rear of the building. Would stay again…close to all things I was in town to see/do.
- Tami (10/5): - Seamless check-in, beautiful home, and a very cute home.
- Chris (10/5): Charm in Columbia - Great, warm, cozy place. Host showed prompt remote service. I look forward to staying there again.
- William (10/5): Exceptional - The bed was to hard. Didn't sleep well.
- Robert (10/5): Something better than a hotel. - Very cool place with a spacious room close to all the University stuff. Highly recommend.
- Remiko (10/5): Great! - Location, clean, comfortable, price
- Archie (5/5): Could have been so much better. - Size and location It was not very clean. Empty creamer on nightstand indicates not much effort to clean.
- Dean (7/5): Good - Comfortable bed, relatively spacious room, well-equipped bathroom Area is quite sketchy - felt strange going to sleep knowing there's a major (for South Carolina) homeless encampment just one block away. Don't walk around at night!
Also cleanliness could be improved - a lot of the cupboards/tables were not dusted.
- Edward Lawrence Gorman (10/5): Nice Turn-key Inn - It was a great room in a turn-key process with nice ambiance and very well kept. It is grand space with large room and decorated handsomely. The common space very nice and plentt of seats and table access; coffee/tea/water service as well as microwave and refrigerator.
- Kimberly (4/5): Overall good but the mustiness and age of the bathroom was frustrating - The bathroom is so dated. For the price of the room we expected a more contemporary bathroom The bathroom
- Melanie (8/5): weekend getaway - Loved that it was centrally located to weekend plans. walking down main street, visiting State Fair and concert at Koger center. House beautiful. Overall very nice neighborhood. Owners reached out with check in codes etc...very easy to find, parking area well lit. Alot of sirens Friday night...but that reflects more Columbia crime issues than Inn....it just sits, apparently near police station ?? Sat. night quiet.... We read all reviews re what to expect.... re not being bed and breakfast anymore... Did have small frig downstairs common area that we put left overs in. microwave to warm if needed. I guess ice would be the only thing I missed...but just brought back with us when we returned to room.
- Teragawa (10/5): Wonderful Southern Hospitality - I was a bit of a hurricane refugee. No power in Augusta for eleven days. Got my arrival date confused but the manager and staff were so understanding and my room was immaculate even though I arrived early. Would recommend under any circumstances if you are traveling to Columbia. No room fridge, but there was a small wine cooler in the dining room where you could keep drinks.
- Daniel (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (7/5): Would stay again only if the room that we reserved was given to us. - Location We did not get the room that we reserved.
- Terry (7/5): Good -
- Veronica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Catherine (10/5): This is a great stay close to the USC campus and many restaurants on Main St. - I liked the large room, coffee and tea bar and fluffy towels. The king bed is very tall and may not be suitable for elderly or anyone with physical limitations.
- Jane (10/5): - It was clean, comfy, and gorgeous!
- AnnaLouise (8/5): - The end is absolutely gorgeous. My room was very clean, but there was no staff or service. I got a text when I got there with a code to get in the front door and I got another text to get into my room. There is no reception area or person you’re pretty much on your own. I thought it was a bed-and-breakfast, but we weren’t told about any breakfast and there was nothing in my room telling me about any breakfast or hours it would be served very strange. It was a little strange, but all I really needed was a nice shower and some sleep so it was perfect for this occasion, I was not able to order dinner however because the driver would’ve not been able to get inside the building
- John (8/5): - Overall the the stay was awesome. Nice selection of complimentary coffee and adult beverages. Only hiccup with the stay was I never got the access code information to get into the property and into my individual room.
- Helms (10/5): I enjoyed it so much I stayed an extra two nights. I will stay there every time I'm in Columbia. - Great communication. Very friendly. Beautiful area. Many homeless in the area but not unsafe.
- Claire (10/5): Exceptional - Safe, clean and accessible Nothing it was great!
- Daniel (8/5): The property is charming. There is a hint of history revealed in art/photos, I think more of that would add to the - Charming No ice or mini fridge, water pressure low/shower head lacking
- Noel (10/5): - Excellent Inn .. rooms very spacious but bathroom shower on the smaller side. Front porch was very quaint and relaxing. Very comfy king side bed and Air condition was excellent
- Svetlina (9/5): We made a quick stop, just to rest from a long drive and got back on the road early next morning. - Front desk was very accommodating as we made last minute booking and arrived after checking in hours. Pam was very welcoming and made everything very easy. We made a quick stop, just to rest from a long drive and got back on the road early next morning. We will definitely come back to enjoy a longer stay at the Inn.
- Aaron (5/5): Meh. Breakfast would have been nice. - The TV was nice as well as the security, parking, and staff. There was no fridge, no microwave, no snacks, they advertise as a bed and breakfast but don't offer breakfast.
- Bongette (9/5): Superb - Small size, security
- Willis (10/5): Great trip back home!!! - It was just what I needed. 1425 Inn far exceeded my expectations, which were already high.
Thank everyone of you very much! I surely look forward to returning. I liked everything.
- Diane (10/5): Great condo bed, hot water and clean - Cute and quiet location Nothing
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Samantha (10/5): - Beautiful building, quiet area, even with a full house we didn't hear a peep. Downtown is walkable, but do so as a group. Would definitely stay again if I'm in the area.
- Raygan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jeanna (10/5): Amazing house with comfortable beds. Very clean. - Beautiful, clean, comfortable N/A
- Mary (7/5): Boarding house feel - The room was comfortable and clean. The location looks rundown and seedy, but we didn't have any problems. The house has some mold/mildew problems.
- Haley (7/5): Good -
- Doug (5/5): Passable -
- Anthony (8/5): Overall a great stay! - Outstanding & I will be back. Very quiet & classy. Two negative comments: I was not advised what the name of my room was. I had to enter the code on two rooms before I found mine. Wi-Fi was very slow & I opted for wi-fi on my iPhone.
- Valerie (8/5): Very good - Lovely bed & bedding. Big room. Very clean. The shower is miniscule. Coffee in the morning, but no breakfast treats at all. Could have used a few clothing hooks and another suitcase stand
- Lynel (9/5): Superb - Charming architecture, loved the front porch and rocking chairs! Just wished there was something available for breakfast, but overall it was just lovely!
- Clinton Micheal (10/5): - very calm, neat. host was responsive.
- Donna (8/5): - The room is spacious and nicely decorated.
The bathroom is a bit small, but charming.
It is a bit noisy because of the busy street, but that is to be expected in a large city.
