Guest Reviews
- Laurel (6/5): Road trip - Older motel but clean. Pet friendly and a close walk to Main Street.
- mathew (10/5): - Clean room great mattress
- Scott (6/5): - the bed was good
- Amy (6/5): It will do - Clean room that was recently updated. Great location. Friendly and helpful front desk staff.
- Lucretia (6/5): - It was convenient location, doors facing outside. Had a refrigerator, microwave and coffee pot.
Shower head was no more than 4' high, had LOTS of pressure (like a firehose), one of the 2 beds was dirty (previously slept in.. had dirt etc on the sheets), Had ants in the room, heater didn't appear to work and the A/C was extremely loud. Could not get a detailed receipt to turn in for reimbursement.. and their were issues with the payment.
It was a place to sleep and had a shower... which met my needs.
- Darin (6/5): - Basic place to stay. Ok night sleep as the bed was a bit firm (arms kept falling asleep). Neighbor next door had a pit bull off leash, we had our own dogs and felt unsafe because of that.
- Steven (10/5): - Old-school motel where you park right outside your room. Insides of rooms are quite nice. Manager very helpful.
- Scott (8/5): - The motel manager,Mark, is a great guy. Very personable.
- Orville (4/5): - The property was in a sketchy location and the air conditioner made a loud whining noise all night long. Very difficult to get any sleep. Wouldn’t stay there again .
- Cathy (8/5): - We have frequently stayed at this little motel. No frills, but it's clean, comfortable, and quiet.
- Betty (8/5): - Clean, quiet, close to town, staff was efficient and quick. It felt a little odd being in an industrial area.
- Ronald (6/5): - Good for the price. Super convenient. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Hotel is older but it is quite.
- Lessa (4/5): - Clean appearance, just a bit noisy due to other guests walking around talking. Room was clean just old.
- Nolan (6/5): - Was ok!
- Edwin (8/5): - Tho the exterior of building is quite dated looking, the room was renovated, clean, spacious, with a mini frig, microwave and coffee maker. Quiet location and very helpful manager.
- Karolyn (8/5): A good night rest in complete stillness. - Check-in was great and friendly, my room was neat and tidy including a clean bathroom. My car could park right outside my door and I got what I needed the most - a good night sleep and silence.
- Kenneth (10/5): - Nice decor, clean, quiet
- Tonya (6/5): Nice place if u just need to rest your head - Nice clean room, comfortable bed. Heat did not work in room so it was pretty cold.
- Juan (8/5): - Easy and fast to access
- Brian (8/5): - Very clean and well maintained.
- Michael (10/5): Budget friendly - Clean room, Grocery nearby, Affordable. Friendly staff.
- Laura Ann (8/5): - Close to restaurants and stores, pets welcome.
- Barbara (6/5): - Comfortable bed, clean with updated floors. Quiet.
- Vania (8/5): - The area was clean and safe, room was clean. The microwave did not work. Very old and rundown place. Would not stay here again.
- Ryan (8/5): Good night sleep - Nice quiet spot. Comfortable beds. And the bar and restaurant across the street is perfect.
- Trudy (6/5): - The manager was most helpful.
- lisa (10/5): - It’s a bit of an older property but everything was super clean and office staff was very nice.
- Sherry (10/5): - .
- Linda (6/5): - Felt unsafe as door deadbolt did not work, only had thumbkey lock in doorknob. Could see daylight around door. Non smoking room, however, people smoked outside rooms, and the window A/C sucked smoke into rooms.
- John (2/5): Disappointed in Grangeville Motel - I brought a friend who also booked a room..his room was not available to him because the hotel allowed the previous guest to stay an additional night, thus leaving my friend without a room...I consented to letting my friend stay with me so he could have a place to stay.
I feel the hotel should have offered at least a room rate reduction or some other compensation for their mistake and our discomfort
- Mellisa (8/5): - The desk guy was very nice and accommodating. This is an older building but the beds were comfortable and it was close to all events for Border Days so you can walk to everything.
- Matthew (8/5): - Clean and well kept for the age and price
- Donald (10/5): - staff was polite.
- Karl (6/5): - It is an older motel. It was clean and had the basics. The linens needed to be replaced and some of the decorations should be simply disposed of. The front desk was pleasant for a very late check in. It is a very limited service motel. For being close to a $100 it was overpriced.
- Michael (10/5): - This place is clean and affordable. I was just passing through, so I don,t know about dining. Newly remodeled.
- Lindsey (4/5): - Check in was an unlocked door with a key on the table. I didn’t mind it too much since we arrived late at night. But the door didn’t have a working deadbolt and no chain lock. The door could have been easily broken into with a hard push. The heater broke in the early morning with the temps about -12 degrees. Everything I owned smelled like cigarette smoke and I asked for a non smoking room. There were weird smells and random things like an empty ice cream bucket around the room.
- Michael (8/5): - I don't know about dining, or transportation because I have my own wheels, and a pizza!! However, this place is a good deal on the price! If the cable is affected by the weather, no big deal!! I watch youtube!!
- Peg (6/5): - Fairly spendy for an ordinary place to stay; meets basic needs, but nothing special!
- Melissa (8/5): - The guy running the front desk was great. We appreciated his manners.
- Amber (10/5): - Quick and easy check in, room was warm and ready for our arrival, building is older and furnishings are as well but it was updated and cozy none the less.
- Nora (6/5): - Toilet was too short, the tub was so slippery, tv remote dod not work!!! Un accessible outlets!!!
- Ray (8/5): Old school Motel, Kind of Cool! - Good place for rest and a shower.
- Christie (8/5): - Perfect for an overnight traveling from Coeur D’Alene to Boise. Conveniently located right off 95. Walking distance to restaurants. Older motel but clean and nice to have the ability to park right in front of ur door.
- Christel (2/5): - The bed was very uncomfortable and the number of flies in the room was horrible. Did not feel safe
- Bruce (6/5): - Plus side: Quiet side street, walking distance to dining.
Negative: old shag carpets
- Idaleen (6/5): - The property was clean. It was outdated, but served its purpose comfortable enough. Would stay again. Guy in office helpful. Parking limited. Good location. AC needs coolant or replaced. It was doable, but could have been better due to extreme heat that day.
- Duane (4/5): - Bed and bedding was terrible
- Linda (10/5): - The manager was helpful and pleasant
- Natalie (10/5): It was ok. - Well the building is old and dated. But it was clean. New paint. Carpet seemed new. The bed was comfortable. The lay out for the microwave and frig. Were strange. But doable. People smoked outside there doors. They were all out side entrances.
So the rooms smelled like smoke. I just took my allergy tablets, then tried to sleep. But I would stay again, if in the area.
- Michael (10/5): - Room and grounds were clean and in good repair. Staff was friendly and helpful. Price was fair and honest. If I come to the area again, I will stay here again. Thanks!
- Jennifer (10/5): - Just what we needed. Cheap, clean and quiet. Will definitely stay again.
- Michelle (8/5): - Very nostalgic hotel, takes you back to the basics clean comfortable and curious. Only improvement I would suggest would be to put 2 sets of towels per room.
- Jeff (4/5): - wifi was very poor; cable not working, no tv
- mitzi (8/5): - Quiet
- Mark (8/5): - Dated
- Steve (6/5): - One towel for 2 people was not good and shampoo packets wasnt enough.
- Dan (10/5): - Smaller, older motel. Very clean, and friendly staff. Could use some updating but fulfilled the basic needs. Close to eateries.
- Kenneth (10/5): - We love this little place. We will be back. The room was sweet and beds were really comfortable.
Everything was perfect for a little step back in time. Don’t change a thing.
- Andrew (4/5): - If this were a $40 motel it would have been as expected. As a $100 motel, it was quite lacking. Bathroom fan was in bad repair and noisy, pillows were lousy, spare blankets resembled horse blankets. For a place to lay your head for the night, it was adequate, but way overpriced.
- Kathy (6/5): - Much better tan I expected. Except for the carpet, very clean. Tv and microwave were great. Staff had the heater started. Romm was comfortable and quiet. Would stay there again.
- Timothy (6/5): - Good location and comfortable.
A little aged.
- sissy (6/5): - Rooms have been somewhat updated since I was there. Last new sheets needed more pillows on the beds. Bathroom could use some remodeling did have microwave and coffee maker and small fridge. It was warm and comfortable.
- Kellie (6/5): - Sometimes you get what you pay for. This hotel was fairly inexpensive and that’s just what we got. The room was OK, nothing fancy at all. The beds were comfortable and we slept surprisingly well for parking being right outside. This hotel could definitely use an upgrade, as it was totally 1980 vibe. The service was fine and we liked the nice cappuccino we had in the morning.
- Janet (8/5): - One pillow ok the other not very good and sheets were grey with bleach staines. Bed was very comfortable. Great water pressure. Sink faucet was on when handle was in middle (full blast) and turned off when you went turned it to the far left or right. Room was clean and grounds were well kept and very quiet at night.
- William (6/5): Older motel - Old motel showed its age but was fine for one person
- James (4/5): - Too many smokers. Staff smoked outside 40 feet from my room. Full ashtray upon arrival on table outside of room. Window AC needed cleaning.
- Catherine (8/5): - This is a budget motel so dont expect much. However the staff was friendly and bathroom was clean. If you are just sleeping there after a long day of hiking or rafting it fits the bill. It is in easy walking distance to places to eat and shop, only 1 block off the main drag.
- Ed H (4/5): - Old tired place.
- Brent (4/5): Not good - Dirty bedding. Nasty carpet. At least it didn’t smell like smoke.
- Juan (8/5): - For the price it was good. Needs a bit of remodeling and updating but it was quiet.
- Laurel Ruth (6/5): - Price for one night is ok but property needs to be refurbished
- Sarah (2/5): Don't stay here! - Dirty and dated accommodations. Missing light bulbs, blankets. Lamps strung together with extension cords, poor TV reception. Trash under beds.
- Marion (2/5): - Rooms are grows and outdated. Go to the super 8
- Marla (8/5): - God bless these people they are genuinely trying but this place has seen better days.
- Matt (4/5): - Room smelled as if it was a smoking room. Lights didn’t work and no electrical outlets.
- raj (10/5): - Nice clean motel walking distance to downtown good price will stay again
- Jerry (4/5): - Very old rundown motel. Everything needs updating. It was clean but not worth the 75 dollar's they charge. Tv was so bad could hardly watch it. Shower head was broke and really leaking. Hole in bathroom wall.
- Warna (6/5): Heat and plumbing, yes... - I realize that the cost of lodging has risen sharply along with everything else, but I resent spending over $90 for a room in such poor condition. We were in out of the rain, with heat and plumbing, but very little else to commend it. Sorry, I wouldn't stay here again.
- Kristian (6/5): - A run down place, needs a lot of love.
- Todd (10/5): - The lady at check in was very nice and went above and beyond to make sure everything was satisfactory. I called to inform them I would be late arriving around 9pm local time and they told me check in lasted until midnight so that was nice! I've stayed here numerous times over the years and have never had any problems.
- Igor (8/5): - Price and location is great. Staff was great. Overall condition, the place is very run down, for example the entrance door has a 1/2 inch gap on the bottom and the carpet is still there from 1970.
- raj (10/5): - Nice clean motel close to grocery store and restaurants good price motel will stay again
- Mary Kay (4/5): - The front desk person was pleasant. Motel is fairly run down. We had barking dogs one night & parties the second night. Third night was quiet.
- Jean (2/5): - Your picture does not honestly portray the condition of the rooms to which I was introduced.
The room we were assigned had dirty floors, no facial tissues in the holder, dirty carpet, beds sloppily made, lingering smoke odor in what was described as a No Smoking room.
The office contained long embedded, lingering cigarette smoke odor. When I asked the employee if she smoked, she did not say outright that she did presently.
The employee who checked me in was pleasant, provided an air cleaner to enable me to breathe better in the room, interceded on my behalf with the owner to approve a full refund because my daughter and I could not sleep in such an unkempt dirty room.
I told her I would not use their motel again.
My evaluation of the DownTowner is that the rooms need to be gutted then refinished with clean, up-to-date interior paint and new furnishings and carpet. They also should hold more tightly to their no smoking policy in the rooms and charge additional if a renter violates the policy.
- Vern (6/5): - Shower chest high. Dull dark no wall plug ends. Extension cords to plug ends for chargers away from bed. Bottom sheets of bed slips up.
- Sally (6/5): - The property is very old and under remodel. The room next door was two guys fighting. I left at 545 am. Very hard to find. I refused to take a shower.
- Camie L (8/5): - We arrived late at night. Staff was friendly and helpful.
- Shannon (2/5): - The room was furnished with a tabletop set on top of a chair.
- Todd (6/5): - It was super old and run down. The room was clean but the bathroom had paint tape and some weird stuff on one wall. The shower hit you at your chest and had a horrible head that sprayed on only one setting, hard and fast. The staff was the high point, friendly and really nice.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Cockroaches and room smelled of urine
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This motel is a no-frills, no amenities, old motel. I believe people live there. It was good enough for what we needed it for, which was just a place to sleep. We had an adjoining room in which someone lived in the next room. It was weird and kinda scary. The room had two different sized beds and a TV with no reception. It was clean though, the bathroom and sinks were clean and the shower was great. The woman at the front desk was very nice, very friendly and let us check in early.
- Diana (2/5): - Don’t do it. Horrible!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was a decent llace to spend a night. Clean, basic room, just a bit dated
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Bathroom leaked, run down room, one outlet for entire room
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Facility in poor condition. More for workers with no other place to stay- weekly rates were available. Very outdated and rundown.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice place, little dated. Great price and people were super friendly
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel was definitely dated, with older rooms, furniture, bedding and decorations, but it was clean and the staff was super friendly and accommodating to me—which I greatly appreciated! Rooms were in short supply in the area and I was grateful for the well-running A/C in the 104 degree temps!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Didn’t stay. Assigned to 2 different rooms that were occupied.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - My reservation was "cancelled" at my attempt to check in on the afternoon of July 3. No other notice as given before then. I hope you don't attempt to bill me for this experience because I didn't stay at the Down Towner Inn.
- Linda (8/5): - Was a little older than expected. Staff was nice.
