Guest Reviews
- Regina (10/5): - We really like staying at the Waterbury which is close to many of the places we like going in Door County.
- Tami (8/5): - We were in the lowest level and there were 3 dehumidifier’s running in the hallway the entire weekend. The room smelled a bit musty, especially bad when you opened the kitchen cabinets.
- Susan (8/5): - Friendly staff!
- Marciano (10/5): - Great weekend and experience
- Susan (6/5): - Good
- Gwenn (10/5): Great stay location! - Fabulous stay! Would stay here for a li gee stay! Life’s the location. Such a comfortable feel. Old school keys for access. Hadn’t planned to stay here or I would have brought my suit as the multiple pool areas looked fun!
- Abhijit (8/5): - Giving it 4 star because you should provide extra bed sheet and
- Regina (8/5): - The staff was great and welcoming. We were placed on the lower level. This property is close to Sister Bay and Ephraim which is out favorite Door County towns. The property was clean and maintained. The only issue we had was the level we were placed
- Trang (8/5): - Great space for a family of 4. Lobby area is very cozy and the fire pit tables and grills outside were a nice amenity. The property was a little dated, but overall, very clean and nice staff. We especially loved the walkable access to the cafe across the street called Sip. We would stay here again.
- Mary (6/5): - Very clean but biggest room was cramped for 5 people especially if you leave the sofa sleeper open.
Main bedroom bed was small and broken down so you rolled to the middle and a bit uncomfortable We were told there would be a full size bed in the loft but instead there were 2 twin beds. They were comfortable though.
Extra powder room in hallway and Lobby was good! We appreciated the toaster since we picked up bagels from Cultured Bagels for breakfasts
- Pamela (6/5): - Wsrning for seniors or disabled: There are 3 levels ( basement, first floor, second floor) and no elevator! The only staff present to help with bags etc up or down the stairs is the small female receptionist.
- Todd (10/5): Lovely stay at the Waterbury - Having never stayed at the Waterbury we didn't know what to expect but ended up enjoying our stay there. The hotel overall is kept clean. The 2 bedroom loft plus pullout bed provided decent room for 5 of us, including 3 adult children. The grill and gas fire pit with seating area out front is very nice. Both pools (indoor/outdoor) and hottub were clean and provided an enjoy spot to spend time in the water.
The grounds of the resort are maintained very well too. Only the landscape islands in the parking lot were the exception as there were overgrown and appeared as if they may be waiting for an overhaul at some point in the near future. If not, we'd recommend it as that was the one main area we'd recommend receive an update.
The staff was very friendly and accommodating as well and made us feel very welcome.
We will definitely consider staying here in the future.
- Molly (8/5): - Nice location. Quiet.
- Cindy Z (8/5): - It’s a very short time but everything was great..
- TAMARA (10/5): - It was great clean nicely furnished. The bed a little hard but great overall!
- Tina (8/5): - Good location. Accommodations were good. Allowed us to stay the one night. Updates were nice
- Verified traveler (10/5): Clean! - Really appreciated the amenities- kitchenette, living space, indoor and outdoor pools, etc. Staff was friendly and helpful. The best part was how clean our space was!
- Steven (4/5): - There is a large interior remodeling project going on at this resort right now. Most of the room’s furniture is all lined up in the hallways, including the mattresses, making it difficult to walk to your room. The entire resort smells strong of wet paint.
They put us in a room in the basement level that was very cold, and took several hours to warm up.
The management did not mention any of this when I booked the room, and even the front desk didn’t say anything at check in. The manor that this was all done was unpleasant and somewhat dangerous.
- Kerry (10/5): - We love this place and stay often. Breakfast across the street and close to everything else.
- Jack (4/5): Don't bother... - Bed and pool were good, after that, down hill...Lied to by manager Edith via email that both bedrooms have tvs, they don't. Playground is missing, couldn't use firepit, exercise room is now a store under construction? Upper floor was 87° when we got there. No elevator to bring luggage up, still use keys for room and outside doors. Effort is there to remodel, its just mismanaged and drown in misrepresentation. I'll stick with Newport Resort in Egg Harbor.
- Katherine (8/5): Okay stay - no exercise room -hard bed - The place was cute. Extremely disappointed there was no exercise room. It advertised having an exercise room. The bed was extremely hard. There was a family ping pong area and the lobby offered family games.
- Kari (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay and will definitely be back!
- Todd (10/5): - Perfect for our couple weekend. Great location. Enjoyed the hot tub and the kitchen and living room space.
- Sandra (10/5): Weekend winter stay - The Inn was a great choice for our Door County weekend. The front desk staff friendly, helpful, courteous. The room very clean, the beds and pillows comfortable. Great value.
- Shayla (10/5): Anniversary Weekend - The check in was easy and receptionist was friendly. Overall very clean and appealing. The bed was a bit too firm for us, but the room was comfortable and clean. The receptionist during the day was less than friendly. Would most likely stay again.
- Greg (10/5): - Super clean, many ameneties. Will stay again
- Michelle (10/5): - This was our first time staying at the Waterbury Inn and we will definitely be coming back. Great location, very clean, great price as well. Loved all the decorations for Christmas!
- Lindsey (10/5): - Loved the size of the rooms! Very clean, well kept property. Would definitely stay there again!
- Melodie (10/5): Winter Wonderland - Quiet, relaxing feel. There was snow so it made it a winter wonderland. We were late arriving, but the email was so clear on where to find our keys and room. Oh and the hot tub felt sooo good after being outside. The pool was very clean. There was a community space you could sit by the fire. You be we will be back again!
- Kimberly J (10/5): Beautiful - What a lovely property. The entire thing was decorated for Christmas. Gorgeous.
- Steve (8/5): - It was nice but showing it's age a bit. The carpet downstairs needs to be replaced and the rooms need a bit of updating. The staff was nice and pleasant and the rooms were clean.
- Brian J (10/5): - Very helpful
- Lori (10/5): - WE LOVE THE LOCATION.
WE DIDNT LIKE THE FACT THAT A NEW EMPLOYEE WAS WORKING THE FRONT DESK ON A BUSY FESTIVAL WEEKEND. THERE WAS A BIT OF A BACK UP CHECKING IN
- Jason (10/5): - Place is great. Gives you that nostalgic 90’s family vacation hotel vibe in the best way possible. Everything is clean. Stewart and Ron were both very helpful and friendly (despite being a Bears fan). Have been twice with family and will go back again.
- Laura (10/5): - We had to check in late and it didn't as an easy process. Nice place and good location.
- KIM (10/5): - Unit was spacious and provided all necessary amenities.
- Amy (10/5): - On the edge of town. Very quiet. Nice staff.
- Gaetano (4/5): - The room had a strong smell. The first room they assigned us the smell was even worse, we complained and gave us an upgrade. Old carpet and old furniture. We did not want to touch anything. We were supposed to stay 2 day, but we could not resist, we left after one night even if we paid in full.
- Jacquelyn (10/5): - Property is away from downtown area so VERY quiet. Two pools and hot tub. Great amenities. Staff very attentive and helpful. Lovely grounds, even the end of September. I did not like there is no elevator.
- Michelle (10/5): - Beautiful setting. Large condo like 2 bedroom with kitchenette and living room.
Close to many things!
- Kevin (10/5): - I would suggest this stay to anyone.
- Lance (10/5): - Always a great place for the rate. Two pools and a great hot tub
- Urszula (8/5): - Nice quiet clean place . Location was very good . People friendly.
- MARK L (10/5): - Would stay there again..
- Kathy (4/5): - When booking we were not told there was no elevator or that our room was located in the basement- room had a smell when you entered.
- Anna (10/5): - A perfect place for our family. Comfortable and clean. Beautiful landscaping. We grilled next to the pool and enjoyed sitting around the fire pit. Plenty of room to accommodate our large family. Highly recommend.
- Kristine (6/5): Not a great option for couples - I would say this hotel is better suited for families vs couples. The hotel was clean so that was great. The pools had a lot of restrictions and most likely due to all the kids in them. The rules state that an adult must be present if there were kids but perhaps a better rule is that the parent would need to be present.
- Lori (4/5): - We called the manager at midnight to report noisy neighbors yelling and shouting. Manager responded "Well that's to be expected when you stay at an Inn". Wow. Then the next day he apologized for his comments. He said others in the Inn had complained and he was sorry. He said we would receive some type of credit, we have yet to see this credit.
- Pamela (10/5): - The property is beautiful, the rooms are very nice, and in the perfect area. Staff was very nice and very patient with the grandchildren, ours and others.
Would recommend and would return!
- Edward (10/5): - Quant and cozy Inn. Loved the fire pit area. Great location to a few coffee shops & restaurants that were walkable
- Eileen (10/5): - We usually camp when in Door County but decided on a last minute visit. Condo was perfect for our weekend visit. Excellent location along Hwy 42. Added bonus was the proximity to the Fyr Bal festival in Ephraim.
- Pamela (10/5): - Quiet and well maintained. It was a great place to rest between adventures.
- Lanette (8/5): - Wonderful staff
- Aneta (10/5): - Very clean great stay!
- Trevor (10/5): Great place - Hotel was fantastic. Friendly staff, clean rooms and pool. Great location to sister bay and most local attractions.
- Heidi (10/5): Weekend Getaway - Loft rooms was very spacious and great getaway. Appliances and furniture were outdated and beds not very comfortable. Staff was very nice and facilities were clean and well landscaped.
- Sidney (10/5): It was good - Everything was perfect. Clean rooms and nice pool. Nice restaurant right across the street. Easy to use propane fire pit in front of hotel.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - A clean beautiful property. The pool area was very nice, and we enjoyed the hot tub.
The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed.
Wish it would have been warmer, to enjoy the little balcony.
Would definitely come back.
- Daniel (8/5): - Door County is unique in itself. We were there at the very beginning of the season. It seemed that the place was just getting reactivated. The water had a bad sulfur smell when in use the first morning. The second morning it seemed to go away. I believe for the price they should provide a nice continental breakfast.
- malgorzata (8/5): - We really enjoyed the staying in the hotel
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I think the stay was okay. I feel like there were some additional fees that I didn't expect. The water pressure in the shower was fair -. Also not exactly sure why I'm paying a resort fee.
- Erin (10/5): - This lovely inn was so cozy and comfortable. The pool and hot tub were perfect and we loved the fireplace area and games. Lots of room in the rooms! (we had a king room) The grounds looked fun but we were there in winter and didn't capitalize on them. The owner checked us in and was so, so kind and helpful. Love all the personal touches. Oh, kitchen was very well stocked with what we needed. Bedroom has no TV but that was okay, Would definitely stay again:)
- Ben (10/5): - We stayed for a long weekend through New Years Day 2024. The Waterbury offered a comfortable, relaxing, and convenient stay. The rooms have everything you need if you choose to stay in for the entire trip, from clean cooking appliances, to blackout shades, comfortable furniture, and a private balcony with pretty good views. The common areas are clean, warm, and inviting, and the staff certainly took the time to sweat the details on the Christmas decorations. Couldn't have really asked for anything else of the place - it was perfect for our trip. On the north end of Ephraim, it was a great central location for all of the outdoor activities that we had on our list. There is also a restaurant/coffee shop across the street that was a perfect way to start the morning. We will certainly be back to the Waterbury again!
- Ann (10/5): - Really enjoyed our off season stay. The property was very pretty and easily accessible. We appreciated the ADA accessible bathroom shower.
Although somewhat smaller than other places we have stayed in the past, it was comfortable and suited our needs perfectly. Th e staff was very friendly.
- Haley (8/5): - The property was a cute and quiet place to stay. It felt very homey compared to other places you can stay at! We liked everything, just the lobby was supposed to open at 8 so we can finish checking in and it looked like the employee just got there at 930 when we were leaving. But other wise we had a nice stay!
- Sandra (10/5): Really enjoyed! - Wonderful staff, clean rooms, great price…would definitely stay again.
- Rachael (10/5): - It was a great place to stay, it was quite and clean and it had everything we needed and it was close to everything we wanted to go to.
- Thomas (10/5): - Room had a secluded balcony and loft. Plenty of room with full kitchen. Wonderful, polite, pleasant and helpful front desk staff. Great experience. Definitely will be coming back.
- Sriram (6/5): - Very clean, property looks outdated, no housekeeping until you checkout, overall it’s pricey for the season with limited amenities
- Kathryn (10/5): - The room was perfect for our family of 5. Cant wait to come back again next year. Kitchen is perfect and lots of space through out the room.
- PATRICK (10/5): It all worked out - We were originally scheduled to stay at another resort that had a fire and the property was devestated. The Waterbury turned out to be a lovely alternative that we were able to book fairly last second once we realized our original destination had cancelled our booking. Overall, the unit we had was delightful and convenient, and although it rained much of the weekend, we had a pleasant time.
- JOANNA (10/5): Great Stay at Waterbury Inn - Married 50 yrs, decided to visit Door County. GRATEFUL for our reservation at Waterbury Inn. It was clean, quiet during sleeping hrs, great location, and staff was friendly, kind
and VERY helpful with needs and Door County info.
- Carl (10/5): - Check in was easy, located across from the Sip, a wonderful coffee shop, very clean.
- Pamela (6/5): - Units poorly equipped
- Verified traveler (8/5): Return visit - This was our second stay at the Waterbury Inn. We liked it so well the first time that we looked forward to returning. It is centrally located for visiting the towns and sights in Door County. The kitchen and 3 bed options make it family friendly.
- SARA (4/5): - We received a room on the "ground" level, aka the basement. It was musty and humid and the AC did not touch the temperature. The hallways had humidifiers going our entire stay making the hallway more pleasant than the room. We turned our thermostat down and turned our air on max, but the temperature never changed, in fact it went up. Very unpleasant. Also there are no elevators and we packed for our stay. We managed but, again, not pleasant.
The outdoor fireplace was our favorite place but will not return.
- Erika (10/5): Great for families! - Cozy room. Great location between Ephraim and Sister Bay. Great for families! Clean. Full kitchen if wanted. Kids LOVED the loft!
- Sam (10/5): - Beautiful landscaping and outdoor social area with pool, patio fire pit, grills, family area indoors and out. Condos are nicely maintained and quiet, set in the woods.
- Dulce (10/5): - Very nice pool,quiet and clean.
- Dilip (6/5): - Conveniently located from all major attractions. Have a great indoor and outdoor pool. Property is very old and not the best in terms of cleanliness and spaciousness of the rooms. The staff hardly showed any warmth in having guests there.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Beautiful grounds, great amenities and the staff is so helpful and friendly! Will definitely stay again.
- Eleanore (8/5): - There were no Kleenex in the room and we ran out of paper towels…..office was closed so could not ask for some. ( did not want to call the after hour # for such a small request, and never saw a cleaning person to ask.)
The bottom of my socks, on 2 days, were very, very black indicating the floors were not clean. (I Hope they get clean in the wash.)
Do all offices close so early? What do people do if arriving after your hours?
The communication on e-mail was excellent. Every time I asked a question, it was answered very quickly.
Thank you!
Eleanore Ninemeier
Bed was very comfortable and the sheets were soft and yet crisp at the same time!!
- Mike (10/5): - The Waterbury Inn is perfectly located between Sister Bay and Fish Creek. The staff are friendly and the property was very clean, organized and had all the amenities we were looking for. We stayed in a room with a loft. We are a family of six and it worked very well. Our infant was in a pack and play next to us in the king. Our three older kids (2-5-7) slept together perpendicularly in the closed bedroom on the queen bed. When the kids went the bed, my wife and I had the living room space to ourselves to watch some Netflix and grab food/beverages from the fully stocked kitchen. We were very impressed with this hotel and look forward to staying here in the future as the kids grow up.
- Linda (10/5): - The owner was very helpful and friendly. It’s a perfect location to be in Door County
- Rosemary (10/5): - It was very comfortable and clean. Sometimes a guest forgets a small item like a toothbrush or razor when they pack. It would be nice if they had a few of these items on hand for forgetful people to buy.
- Gina (8/5): - The mattress needs replacing and their was a white spot on the television that obscured watching it. Other than that it was a great stay. Hopefully they take care of these things and I would stay again and again.
- Patricia (10/5): - The second-floor loft could use its own window A/C unit for the hot and humid days. We had a hard time getting the temperature down from 85 degrees.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Stayed here sight-unseen, and we were very relieved to find that it offers much greater seclusion, privacy, and quiet than the inns in either Sister Bay or Ephraim. Excellent staff, nice rooms.
- Kerry (10/5): - We stay at this location multiple times a year. It is a bit dated in the decor department but certainly makes up for that in myriad other ways.
- Teresa (10/5): - Great place to stay!
- Beth (10/5): - The property is older but so well maintained. One of the cleanest hotels I’ve ever stayed at ! The grounds are absolutely gorgeous ! The kiddos loved the indoor and outdoor pool . The staff was so friendly . The only downside was no elevator and no washing machine . But otherwise my it was absolutely perfect and we will for sure stay there again !
- Cynthia (10/5): Stay a while and enjoy. - Upgrades are in process. New owner and front desk staff personable and helpful. Dual pools plus a hot tub for end of day relaxation. Our suite had a full kitchen, dining room and living room plus an outdoor patio. Lots of room for a longer stay and dining at home. Walk to local restaurants and shops. Very quiet for a good nights rest.
- Kelly (6/5): - The bed was too small. The matress was not comfortable and the pillows were too flat. The place it self was good.
- Obiwan (8/5): - Very lovely hotel stay for my wife and I.
- Marko (10/5): - Really nice place to stay
- Victoria (10/5): - I would definitely stay again!
- Adam (10/5): - Nice and professional
- CHRYS (10/5): - Swimming pool was excellent. Ping pong a bonus. More games would help. Will be even nicer when they complete their renovations.
- Brandalena (10/5): - very friendly, clean, quiet. Only thing we didnt like was had to go to front desk for cream and sugar for our in room coffee and ceiling fan broken in room and the blade was set on our night stand in bedroom
- Bonnie (10/5): - Great place to stay. Super friendly staff/owner. Everything was great. Only draw back for us was that we are all senior citizens and our rooms were on a basement level with no elevator. It was extremely difficult to get our stuff up and down the stairs.
