Guest Reviews
- Tyne (10/5): Wholesome and relaxing. - Becky is a fantastic host and super personable. It is located in a lovely part of Hartshorne with local pubs nearby and scenic routes for runs/walks. Good facilities and comfy bed, the full English in the morning was a highlight. Would definitely stay again.
- Nick (8/5): -
- Nigel (9/5): Warm and friendly relaxing stay. - Greeting warm and friendly. Owner asked if we would like our motorbikes locked away which we were very thankful for that extra security. Room very comfortable and breakfast was excellent. Would recommend as stay was very relaxing and I felt at home.
- John (10/5): Great B&B! - Room was spacious, clean and quiet. Becky was very hospitable and the breakfast was delicious. Nothing
- Lister (9/5): -
- Vince (8/5): Ideal B&B for the stay that we required - Becky is a very welcoming host and she also made excellent served to order breakfasts each day. Thank you. The room was clean. tidy and had ample tea/coffee for our stay. Nothing. It was ideal for our stay.
- Vimbai (5/5): Breakfast was lovely and the staff were very friendly and attentive - The staff are all lovely Just a little dated but clean
- cowcroft1 (6/5): - Easy to find. Quiet rooms No one belonging to The Bull was actually resident in the house.
- Trevor (8/5): -
- Christine (8/5): - Lovely breakfast.
- Philip (10/5): A well appointed B&B in a former pub, lots of parking, great WiFi in rural setting - Room was spotless, lots of space, comfortable bed, great shower
- Roger (10/5): - I have never felt so much at home. We are returning soon!!!!! Nothing at all of
- Nicholas (8/5): -
- Giles (9/5): - Becky was very friendly and excellent communication throughout. Room was large with comfy bed and a great shower. The breakfast was really nice with local, good quality bacon. Only slight downside is there is no bar now but Becky told us about the pub just down the road, which we walked down to and it was a friendly with a great choice of cask ales.
- Derek (9/5): We felt at home and like familiar guests - so lovely. - We had a wonderful welcome and really excellent cooked breakfast (one of the best we've ever had!)
- Mathew (9/5): - Breakfast was really good, issue witht he shower, but that was more user error to be fair, the stafff were amazing and very helpful
- David (3/5): Do not expect to be able to order food or drinks. - There was not much to like, to be honest. The lady who owned the hotel was friendly, but that is about all. There was no food or drinks being served in what is essentially a pub. So when I arrived with my colleague after a day of flying and driving, to be told that food was not being served and we could not even have a drink was very disappointing. Breakfast only started at 7:30am, and we had to leave for a conference at that time, so the paid breakfast was also not received. Unfortunately, my colleague had to stay another night, and again, no food or drinks were available. He did manage a breakfast the next day, which he described as poor.
The rooms were clean and comfortable, but the bathrooms were not so clean. There was a poor-quality liquid soap to use in a very wobbly dispenser. Everything was very dated and tired. However, I did get a good night's sleep despite the creaking stairs and doors to other rooms.
- Graham (10/5): Excellent B&B, with super breakfast.Freindly Host. - Excellent host, lovely clean and fresh room, linen immaculate, tea/coffee provided, free WiFi with good signal. Very comfortable bed, decent shower. Near to Calke Abbey N.Trust. There was nothing we did not like.
- Tina (10/5): Perfect overnight stay - Really welcoming, we arrived early but this wasn’t a problem she came straightaway and let us in and showed us around. Lovely family running it. We ate there on the evening and for breakfast both meals were good and great value for money. Nothing
- John (10/5): We would definitely stay there again and would reccomend it to anyone. - The room was number 2 the smallest room but we only used it for sleeping. There are 4 rooms of different sizes.
The breakfast is lovely. Everything was fine. We asked for a shower mat and hairdryer and we received them that day. Becky the owner is lovely and very hospitable.
- andrew (10/5): will stay again when in area - everything perfect, Becky beyond superb.
- Feeney (10/5): Quality stay at The Bulls Head - We visit Swadlincote a few times a year to visit family and we usually stay in the Premier Inn. We will in future be staying here at The Bulls Head. We found it very clean and even though the bar and restaurant had recently closed that was not an issue, as there is 2 bars, one with restaurant just down the road. The breakfast was brilliant and everything you need. Becky was friendly and chatty and very welcoming. This is why we will be staying there again. Top marks from us Nothing
- Diane Wragg (3/5): - Cleanliness of rooms No longer bar facilities..plus deadline to be out of our rooms
- Susan & James (9/5): Host and breakfast lovely - Friendliness
- Tracee (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay at this B&B and couldn’t recommend it more highly. The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived.
Our room was lovely—beautifully laid out, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable, which made for a really relaxing stay. In the morning, we were treated to an amazing breakfast, freshly cooked and absolutely delicious.
The location is perfect as well, set in a beautiful village that made our visit even more special.
We would highly recommend staying here and will definitely be returning in the future.
- Phillip (10/5): - Couldn’t work the WiFi
- David (10/5): Had a great time, Bec especially very helpful, almost like being family! - Excellent breakfast. Staff excellent, friendly, informative and helpful. We don’t usually go for historical buildings but the quirkiness was really good! Location and local knowledge helped enormously with our visit.
- John (9/5): Amazing staff and stay. - All the staff were very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. They made the evening and stay welcoming. Good communication. I was upgraded to a very clean, comfortable room. Good shower and bed!
- Diana (9/5): Feels very homely and worth the short diversion off the motorway. - Great welcome and service from Becky and her team. Comfortable and quiet bedroom. Dinner is top notch pub grub and breakfast everything one could want.
- Davinder (7/5): - Great host No evening food or drink
- Rob (7/5): Lovely room, lovely staff in a classic local pub. - Lovely local pub with rooms. The staff were superb. Room was great and well made up. Given the price, the stay was spot on. The breakie was ok.
- Steve (8/5): - Great host Becky who was just so helpful Shower was a bit tricky to get stable water temperature but otherwise all good
- Gillian (9/5): - Becky is a great host, room comfortable breakfast excellent
- Adrian (8/5): Well worth the money - Lovely host and great room
- Charlotte (10/5): Fabulous stay, such a lovely place and incredibly friendly people. - As soon as we walked in and met Becky, I could tell straight away what a lovely stay we were going to have, as she was so friendly and welcoming. Despite being short staffed which was beyond their control, Becky and her partner managed to bring our meals out quickly and it was so delicious and nothing was too much trouble, even though they were extremely busy. You could tell the place was really popular and many people were repeat customers, which really spoke volumes. The menu had such a great choice and was so tasty. My partner went for the curry and said it was the best one he's ever had!! The breakfast was amazing too!
We would definitely love to come and stay again when we are next in the area.
Thank you 😊
- Lydia (9/5): Good value stay in comfortable room and excellent breakfast. - Comfortable bed, clean room, excellent breakfast. Good value. Ample parking.
- Fiona Anne (9/5): -
- Charlotte (7/5): - The location was ideal and every person we met working there was friendly, helpful and welcoming. The parking whilst a small area out front was always available and the food (esp breakfast) was very good in quality. The shower pressure and temperature control needs improving as it was either scolding or freezing.
We could hear the person in the room next door. With only three rooms in use on on the one night during our stay, I would suggest not having guests in adjoining rooms.
- Jan (10/5): - Friendly host and staff. Room 1 , maybe could do with a new mattress.
- Peter (10/5): Bulls Head Hartsthorne - The team are always friendly, the food is good and generous.
Always have a cask beer available.
Parking is available on site.
- ESZTER (10/5): - Comfortable and homely.
- Chris (6/5): Okay for an overnight stay, but nothing more. - The bed was comfortable, and the food was okay. Could have been cleaner, and the staff seemed disorganised. A little expensive for what it was.
- Julie (10/5): Warm and friendly welcome, did their up most to go the extra mile. All staff are lovely and helpful, - Very good, great quality food, fantastic service
- Stephen (10/5): Just right for our short stopover - Room was comfortable. Breakfast was really good. Staff excellent and manager very friendly.
- Zoe (8/5): -
- Keeley (8/5): - Room was decorated nice and clean bed was comfortable, free wifi and good size tv was bonus, breakfast in the morning was good, all staff was friendly.
- Sandra (10/5): Comfortable night very friendly place - Nice and clean
- Ann (10/5): Exceptional - The welcome that we received was exceptional, really attentive to our needs. We were looked after from start to finish, we can’t wait to head that way again and return 👍👍 N/A
- Helen (8/5): Perfect for business or leisure, very comfy rooms. - Super helpful owner and lovely waitress at dinner. Great little room at a very fair price including a delicious cooked breakfast. Would stay again. Bathroom could do with a deep clean in the hard to reach areas. Otherwise everything was very good.
- David (10/5): Great staff and very comfortable - Very comfortable and location was great for where I needed to be. Parking on site. Food available in evening Too tall for some of the ceiling 😂😂
- Duncan (10/5): - One of the best cooked breakfasts we've had.
- Lynda (10/5): Absolutely fab all round. - Room was quirky, very clean and very comfortable
We had breakfast, lunch and an evening meal there and it was all really well presented and very, very nice.
The staff were all exceptionally friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble for them. we immediately felt very welcome. If I had one very small criticism it would be that there was no complimentary shower gel etc but that is me being exceptionally picky and I always carry some just in case anyway so it wasn't a major issue at all. As I say, it was me being very picky. My husband and I will definitely being staying there again.
- Maria (10/5): -
- Essaff (7/5): -
- S.Roe (9/5): - Good location, helpful staff, everything you need in the room.
- Nick (7/5): Cheap and cheerful - Value The fan in the shower was full of dust.
- Darralyn (1/5): Rude owner, terrible approach to customer service - Absolutely nothing Everything
- Kate (6/5): Nice enough for a quick stopover but not much to do in the area. - Had a car park, convenient for Rudders rum distillery. Comfy bed. No menu for breakfast, very limited choice given. No orange juice despite being offered it.
- Mike (10/5): Really nice room, friendly staff and great food - Really nice room, friendly staff and great food
- Lea (8/5): -
- Paul (10/5): All in all a great experience all round - Everything was excellent. Lovely freindly staff good food. First class throughout Nothing

- Brendan (10/5): - A small comfortable Inn in a very pretty and quiet part of middle England.
The rooms were warm and comfortable and the bathrooms, were well equipped, despite their small size,
Bulls head is an old building and Becky and her team have done a great job making it welcoming. I will definaitely return... The food was fantastic dinner and breakfast.

- Michael (9/5): Lovely place - Booking in was friendly and welcoming. Room was lovely. Breakfast was also very good, Staff great. Not really sure anything was needing improvement
- John (8/5): - Friendly and helpful staff.
Lovely room and comfortable bed
Breakfast was great.
Dinner was really exceptional Unfortunately the shower screen had a problem and leaked badly. We didn't realise until the water went through to the dining room below.
The following night it was still not fixed.
- Richard (8/5): Pleasant stay - The welcome and atmosphere is consistently good and the food - evening dinner and breakfast - excellent. The place is a little tired and I could not get the shower to provide constant water at the right temperature, but apart from that another very comfortable and pleasant stay.
- Karl (10/5): Amazing, I will definitely be staying again. - Becky was amazing, very accommodating and couldn’t have been any more friendly. Very comfortable, it couldn’t have felt more like home.
- Pupsicle (9/5): Another excellent stay with Becky and team. - Staff are really amazing. The food is excellent. Great location for Donington Park. N/A
- Mike (10/5): Wonderful ‘Country Stay’ near Derby. Highly Recommended - Really well located character property that served fantastic food and abundant friendliness. Bec and her crew were wonderful so much better than the impersonal ‘chain accomodation’ operators. We’d highly recommend The Bulls Head and especially the staff to anyone visiting the Derby area. The evening meals offer great eating and value. We were silly enough to choose a double room which was comfortable - but squeeze. The have excellent larger rooms and we should have gone for one of those.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very welcoming - Very welcoming, comfortable rooms, convenient location
- julie (9/5): -
- Duncan (9/5): Simply put... I would stay here again without hesitation. - The staff were all great, both first thing in the morning and at dinner. Dinner selections were good and tasty. Location was chosen for being approx equidistant from Worcester, Sheffield and the far side of Manchester, but was actually superb in its own right. Surrounded by countryside... a short hop from charming market towns and National Trust properties and a 2 minute walk from National Forest plantings.
- Mike Carvell (10/5): Great location and staff. - Very nice, well cooked and quality. Car park a bit tight for larger cars

Perfekt für SWBK Besuche in Donnington Park. Hervorragendes Frühstück und Abendessen. Es gibt sogar eine kleine Terrasse am Haus. Etwas weiche Matratzen, aber das ist ein persönliches Empfinden.
