Located in the lodge, this room is within the grounds of the Mansion House Hotel. It has access to a self-catering kitchen, which is shared with 2 further double rooms. The room has a separate private shower room, adjacent to the bedroom. We have 2 rooms with attached bathroom in the Bungalow and 1 is not, the one which is not has a private bathroom a few steps away from the room. Guest should contact hotel for further details. - Frances (10/5): Idyllic retreat - The grounds and building were stunning. The bedroom was clean and spacious with sitting area, table and a large TV. The sleigh bed was enormous, comfortable and we had a great sleep as heavy drapes blocked out the light. Great choice of breakfast and the breakfast staff couldn't do enough for you. They were fantastic. Ideally situated for sightseeing on the NE250. Train close by- so took a trip into Aberdeen too. Definitely recommend this place. There was nothing to fault
- Isabelle (8/5): - Die Lage ist toll, um Elgin zu erkunden. Und das Gebäude gibt schon was her, einmal in einem Schloss übernachten. Das Bett war enorm und hoch, wie in einem Märchen, gute Matratze. Nettes Personal und tolles Frühstück. Mobiliar im Zimmer etwas in die Jahre gekommen.

Le petit déjeuner varié et bon, et la gentillesse de la serveuse. La décoration de la chambre, un peu chargée. Chambre un peu sombre et pas de vue.
- Katherina (3/5): Nicht die Lodge buchen!!! - Die Lage war super zentral und dennoch in schöner Grünanlage gelegen. Das Frühstücksbuffet war ok, das Personal beim Frühstück sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Wir haben das Zimmer in der Lodge gebucht, was uns bei der Buchung nicht klar war, da es schlecht eruirbar ist. Auf den Fotos waren nur die Zimmer des Haupthauses ersichtlich. Das Zimmer in der Lodge ist ein Graus, riecht abgestanden und ist allgemein in die Jahre gekommen und dreckig. Das Badezimmer ist modern, aber nicht im Zimmer integriert, so dass man den schmuddeligen Gang durchlaufen muss. In der Küche ist das Besteck dreckig, Kühlschrank schimmelig. Zudem sind die Zimmer maximal hellhörig und man hört Alles der Nachbarn. Weder den Preis noch die 4 Sterne wert.

- Lorna (8/5): Would like to stay again. - Lovely helpful staff. On arrival receptionist realised one of our party had mobility issues and offered a ground floor room to avoid a climb upstairs. I think it was the best hotel breakfast I've ever had. Delicious! Beautiful building. PIty no restaurant onsite for dinner at the moment. Nice lawn but flower beds and driveway full of weeds. Not too good first impression coming up driveway. Little bit TLC required on old carpets as a few tripping hazards especially for disabled people.

The breakfast service was exceptional and well done to the chefs and the serving staff. The plug sockets in our room need looking at, we had to wiggle the kettle plug and phone charger to make them Work.
- Christopher (3/5): Disappointing and not worth the money. Premier Inn is better. - Location, grounds and looks of the main hotel. The bed. My room in the Lodge, whilst I knew was a separate building, backed on to a rough housing estate and felt like a forgotten cousin of the real building. The room had marks all over the walls, fittings for three smoke detectors but no actual detector, bare lightbulbs and an auto bathroom light that went out while in the shower and could not be got back on while there. The room was not comfortable like the pictures and lacked some of the facilities. Staff were good though forgot my coffee with breakfast but corrected quickly with apology. It is not worth the money to stay in the Lodge.

- Meriel (7/5): Lovely hotel but in need of significant updates. - Lovely presentation of room - very spacious and door opened onto grassy area. Grounds quiet and pleasant. Short walk to parkland and Ladyhill viewpoint. Porridge nice. Towel radiator nice and hot at all times. Some bathroom floor tiles cracked and displaced. This presented a hazard for stubbing toes and tripping . I informed staff via a note (limited staff around generally). Someone was going to come and fix it next day but didn't (in fact it would have been too big and noisy a job to do while the room was occupied). The place felt very empty and lacking in warmth. The woodwork on the outside of my room was in poor repair. For me, the coffee at breakfast was undrinkable.

- Fi (8/5): Fabulous place for a quiet stay. - Lovely building in a quiet area. Lots of nice areas to sit and relax. Nice outdoor sitting area. Very comfortable. Fabulous staff! Breakfast amazing! It was all lovely but slightly shabby in a chic sort of way, perhaps some upgrading would enhance the place. Garden ground is a lovely space but unkempt. There was a sign pointing to a pool but apparently not available?

- Martin (7/5): A Scottish pile, shabby chic hotel, worth a stay! - I loved the character of the building, it must have been stunning in its day. The property needs some investment. Whilst my room was clean, there were signs of mould. The stairway carpet had shredded on a step, and the corridor to my room felt a bit grim. Breakfast was adequate, but the furniture in the dining room let it down, tired and my chair wobbled. I was down for breakfast when it opened and they had run out of smoked salmon. Overall stay was good, bed comfy and friendly staff!

Garden’s unkempt, plants dead and loads of weeds. Windows needed a clean. Furniture outside needs rubbing down and a fresh coat of wood stain. Furniture ( chairs ) in the dining area were dirty.

Said I would be back by midday and asked for just a little yogurt / or even a slice of toast to be left and they were unable to hold nothing back for me… not even fruit.

- David (10/5): Excellent hotel, I would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone. - We asked for a ground floor room........no trouble whatsoever and the room was brilliant Our room was large warm and very comfortable with a super king size bed, two armchairs and two desks with chairs The shower room was large, spotless instant hot water, shower and a bath. Breakfast was full comprehensive breakfast menu. The food was delicious There was nothing I didn't like. Everything was first class.

- Thomas (9/5): - Das Hotel hat den Charme eines alten Landsitz. Teilweise sind die Stoffe so mürbe, dass man schon angst hat sie anzusehen. Der Boden quietscht unter den Füßen. Dieser alte Charme macht es aber super gemütlich und außergewöhnlich. Man fühlt sich für eine Nacht wie ein Lord. Das Frühstück ist sehr reichhaltig und frisch zubereitet. Aktuell wird vieles liebevoll restauriert. Einige Zimmer sind schon moderner eingerichtet, aber mit Fingerspitzengefühl.

We was in room 23 when we arrived the room wasn’t warm the heating went off and didn’t come on in the morning it was a cold night so was very uncomfortable dressing and showering in the morning.

A great period property, could be great with a bit of maintenance and investment It needed love and attention, paint scuffed everywhere, carpets thread bear and in need of replacements. Bedroom carpets stained, bed headboard stained. Restaurant was out closed due to refurb but this was not mentioned when booking.

The breakfast itself was lovely piping hot I think the chef has mastered how to get everything together at once and on a hot plate to keep the food hot. The hotel needs a little updating we think, sadly the rooms look a little tired, halls and breakfast area need a little TLC. We noticed a gym room but did not look open to guests.

I have visited many of these older buildings which have been made into Hotels and this was one of the nicer Hotels. For us we only really wanted bed and a breakfast and i now realise that is all they currently provide. I guess in the past they have had a fancy restaurant and a spa but these are not in operation when we visited - Jan 26. The breakfast was very nice, freshly cooked and hot. The staff were very helpful and attentive. The room was very well serviced and clean. It was a short walk to many different restaurants in Elgin centre and a short drive to see some of the sites around Elgin. Thanks to all the staff for making it an enjoyable weekend. Beds were comfortable and the room was slightly small but it did not bother us as we were not there much.

I had gone to Elgin to scatter my brother's ashes and Lindsay supported me, as soon as she knew and encouraged me each morning allowing me to get through the day. Beautiful quiet room in the Lodge, just as I had requested. Many thanks for taking my situation into consideration. Well appointed room, huge comfy bed, room temperature was like home. Cleaned each day with fresh towels. Kitchen facilities were excellent, so I could stay as private as I needed to. Perfect. Many thanks.

- Joanna (10/5): I will stay here again when next visiting Elgin - The hotel is very welcoming. The staff extremely attentive and happy to chat with you or help. Clearly all very happy to be working at the hotel. The hotel was spotless and very comfortable. The breakfast is outstanding!

- Naomi (4/5): Reminded us of Miss Haversham - Convenient The hotel is partially shut down. Spa and restaurant shut. Heating is turned off in lounge. Bedroom was freezing. It is very sad.
