Guest Reviews
- Chapman (9/5): - Staff very helpful and friendly
- Catherine (8/5): Rien à reprocher - Hôtel regroupant plusieurs bâtiments anciens bien conservés et très soignés. Petit déjeuner copieux. Chambre très soignée et confortable . Parking
- P (10/5): Excellent - All aspects of stay were very good
- David (3/5): Great staff - Local to town Bed small mattress uncomfortable

- Jane (9/5): Great little hotel - Great small hotel. Very comfortable room. Nice breakfast and good food served in the restaurant. Recommended Nothing
- Keith (7/5): - The location is great. Room ok. The bar is a bit meh, and not conjusive to a quite beer or two (some of the local bars and pubs have much more going for them).
- Katherine (10/5): - Nice quirky ancient but well-renovated building, nice large room and good bathroom, friendly and efficient staff, perfect location for Thames Path. We will return to this hotel.
- Don (9/5): -
- Timothy (8/5): Comfortable and happy stay with a breakfast fit for royalty - Clean, comfortable and great location. The staff were friendly. The breakfast was excellent! Everything felt a little stale and tired, maybe it's time for a freshen up.

- Andrew (3/5): - Location. It needs updating, no fridge in the room.
And noisy.
- hmbw (9/5): - Very welcoming. Pleasant room. Excellent breakfast. In the middle of the town. I would have liked a vegetarian option on the dinner menu (lucky I'm not vegetarian).

- Nick (8/5): Great staff, good food highly recommended - The George is a historic country pub in Kirton and lives up to its reputation as a great place to eat. It’s exactly as it is described. Nothing to dislike.
- Marlene (8/5): - Einmal war es spät abends sehr laut wegen einer Feier im Innenhof des Hotels
- Mark (7/5): A hotel with character; clean room and friendly staff. Good value for money. - A historic hotel in the middle of Wallingford. The room was very comfortable and clean and the staff friendly. I asked for a quiet room and the hotel took note of my request. Overall - good value for money. The service at breakfast was quite slow due to only one person serving (unfortunately I think most of the residents went for breakfast at the same time). My comment isn’t a reflection on the member of staff - she was very pleasant…..Had I come down at a different time my experience would have been different.
- kevin (10/5): -
- stephen (8/5): The staff were exellent, when we arrived booking. Com had cancelled our reservation so after driving 4 hours we didn’t h - Centre of town
- Patricia (8/5): - Room was comfortable and well appointed.
Staff were excellent; efficient and friendly No outlook from room. Lock on room 223 needs a bit of attention but we managed it.
Dinner menu rather limited.
- Michael (7/5): - Lovely staff, great service Room had 1 towel, 1 cup and 1 glass for a 3 person room, couldn't fill the kettle in the sink. No mirror in the room, extra towels and mirror provided after asking.
- Nigel (7/5): Short stay for business. I would stay there again. - Good location and interesting old building. Also good parking and friendly staff. The room was a bit dated and needed modernisation especially the shower.
- Mairead (10/5): All good welcoming and comfortable - Very good N/A
- Anne (9/5): -
- Laureen (10/5): Lovely hotel, great staff, close to all the local amenities - Ground floor room which was great for mobility Chef in bar after his shift vaping & rolling cigarettes at the table beside us
- Wayne (5/5): Bar was good room not worth the money sorry - Good bar The room
- Elaine (6/5): One night ok - Quality of the bed linen and pillows and quiet Breakfast and lack of interaction from staff
- June (9/5): Lovely stay good value for money - N/A
- naomi (8/5): -
- lisacunningham (7/5): Overall a very nice place to stay, just need an upgrade on pillows and a mattress topper - Breakfast was amazing I had eggs Benedict, it was perfect Bed was extremely uncomfortable and the pillows were very poor quality
- Richard (8/5): Make sure you book a table in restaurant as extremely popular - Great place to eat. Fantastic chef using local produce. Excellent breakfast. Rooms 8 9 and 10 up two flights of steep winding stairs.

- David (7/5): Quirky and friendly. - Quaint. Room facilities were good including a very good walk-in shower. We liked the fact that it is not a corporate hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful overall. Having booked breakfast for Sunday and reconfirmed several times, including on arrival, they were not expecting us or several other breakfasters meaning there were not enough staff. The room was a high priced room but was very small (though facilities were good).
- Stephen (7/5): -
- Marlene (8/5): - Das Frühstück und die Lage waren sehr gut
WLAN ist immer wieder abgebrochen … An einem Abend wurde im Innenhof laut gefeiert
- Thomas (7/5): Very relaxing - Location Good atmosphere
- Pieter (10/5): -
- Neil (7/5): Great location. Central to the main amenities. - It had it's own carpark, so no need to worry about where to park upon arrival. Check-In was fast and smooth with times of meals and directions to room clearly explained. The room smelt fresh and new and fully stocked with biscuits, teas, coffees, milk and sugars. The bathroom had a walk-in rainforest shower, which the wife absolutely loved! Again, this was stocked with toiletries if you happened to have forget anything. There was also a heated towel rail. The switch for this is outside the bathroom near the skirting board level. Breakfast was made to order. This is always a bonus if you are a fussy eater like myself. And the hotel is right in the middle of the town, which makes everything in easy walking distance. The only downfall to our stay was the location of the room - directly over the courtyard. Even with the windows closed you could hear everything being said. I believe if we had booked a different room we could have been located towards the rear of the property which looks like a more modern extension to the period listed building we were staying in. This reminds me - as it is a listed building be aware of uneven/slopping floors. Our room was on a slope which meant the head of the bed was higher than foot. To compensate this it was levelled out on a stage - but you could quickly end up near the door if you stepped out of the bed too quickly. This was highly amusing to us.
- Christine (8/5): - It’s very quiet. The rooms although small are very clean and comfortable. The dinning room is lovely Parking can be a problem
- marie (9/5): Will Definitely Return - Staff very pleasant and accommodating
Evening meal menu and food really very good
Nice bar and restaurant area
Room and bathroom good size and adequate for the price we paid we found the bed to be very uncomfortable but only stayed for one evening so no problem
- Yvonne (4/5): stayed because there didn't seem to be anywhere else close by. - The food was very good and the younger staff were great. The mattress was very poor so I didn't sleep. The room was very cold on arrival. The attitude of one member of staff really upset me, towards rude.
- Sandra (8/5): - A nice place to stay I didn't like that the hotel could not provide vegan meals.I came here for a RnR was disappointed that I had to go out for meals.
- john (9/5): very enjoyable - nothing
- Elaine (10/5): -
- Terry (10/5): Highly recommended - The welcome was warm and informative, the food was exceptional and the portion sizes huge but the best feature was the staff. Too often we assume young staff equals poor staff who don’t care but that is so far off the mark here, the staff are superb The room was very satisfactory, comfy bed good bathroom facilities etc , there was condensation on the window but this is such a minor issue.
- Naomi (9/5): Great place to stay - Very cosy. No pretence. Dinner was excellent Breakfast - very little for someone who does not eat a cooked breakfast. No menu. Very brusque service at breakfast.
- Demitri (10/5): -
- Louise Southgate (10/5): - Location Nothing
- Teresa (8/5): Loved location and friendly staff - Didn't have breakfast. Over too early Nothing for us
- Paul (8/5): -
- COOPER (10/5): Enjoyed it immensely, will return if in the area again - Room was large and comfortable with everything we required
Bathroom (shower) was quite small but perfectly clean and adequate
Beds were comfortable and spotless
Tea and coffee available in the room Stairs to the room quite steep
Not really a bar area to just relax and have a drink, all appeared to be restaurant/food related
- József (10/5): -
- Stephen (7/5): -
- Richard (8/5): - Good. None.
- Janet (10/5): - The room was very comfortable and clean. The breakfast was lovely and plenty on the plate. Maybe in the Tavern the menu for food to be on tables, we didn't see any the twice we went in for a drink. We may have stayed for a meal in the evening. But on other hand perhaps we should of asked at bar - but should not have to.
- Karen (8/5): Great location. Nice pub. - Quaint building. Bar was lovely. The staff were very nice and helpful. Rooms were comfortable.
Our safe was broken and I do like to put things in your be safe. There did not seem to be many staff. The lady who did breakfast, seemed to be covering the reception phone at the same time.
- Alan (8/5): -
- James (6/5): Did the job - Good breakfast, efficient and pleasant staff, good hot water and radiator. The George is just not worth its normal rate of £160 per night, B&B. Our room was not large and the decor seemed tired.
- Leo (9/5): Good location , well proportioned single room. - Great location , good proportions for a single room. Bed was great.
- Freya (10/5): -
- Sue (6/5): -
- Nick (10/5): Top notch - Lovely comfortable room, great bed and pillows. Lovely bar area and delicious food
- 830eileend (10/5): Excellent Food And Service - I booked an Afternoon Tea on Groupon and we were not disappointed. The Hotel is lovely and it has parking. We were greeted by a lovely lady called Shannon and she couldn’t have been more helpful. The sandwiches were very fresh with plenty of filling and the Scones were excellent. Lovely cakes and plenty of tea. We also had a glass of Prosecco. We will definitely be returning.
- Ian (8/5): -
- Alison (5/5): Sadly disappointing on this occasion - Been here before, fantastic location, on this occasion Shannon on reception and Sue in the bar saved this visit being totally disappointing. Apart from the loo, our bedroom was gorgeous! Ordered food at the bar. The burger with lettuce, cheese, tomato and mayo was drowned both sides in burger sauce. Tasted ok so didn't complain but poussin had raw thighs, was inedible. Breakfast is rated highly but ours was awful! Poached eggs were solid, bacon was like leather, mushroom burned. Chef never asked how it was, just disappeared halfway through. He was on reception when we checked out, I raised it with him, he said it was my responsibility to tell him if we wanted soft poached eggs and our bacon not 'crispy'!! Loo looked a bit gritty too.
- Arwel (10/5): -
- Mark (9/5): Perfect place for exploring the mid Thames. - Location on the Thames.
- Mark (9/5): -
- Michael (10/5): Cozy & lovely stay - Lovely staff, marvelous breakfast, nice rooms, top pub!
- Helen (9/5): Will definitely stay here again if we go to another gig at the Town Hall - We enjoyed our stay here. Excellent breakfast & dinner. Lovely staff. Good sized room. Everything we needed for a one night stay. Perfect location for seeing a gig at the Town Hall. Vibrant small town. No problem parking on the road outside. The mattress was comfortable but I could feel a couple of springs on my side.
- Rich (9/5): -
- davidhH5894OF (8/5): Very welcoming - Spent a couple of hours in the Tavern bar a couple of weeks ago for a light lunch and a few drinks. Food was fine. 2 or 3 girls working behind the bar were very friendly, polite and good fun. Lovely Courtyard. Well worth a visit.
- Geoff (8/5): ok - Room Bar food was poor
- Christopher (6/5): -
- Eugene (10/5): - Clean Nothing
- Robert (7/5): Enjoyable overall. - Nice comfortable bed with a bathroom which had a bath a real treat. Good location with parking nice open fire in the bar.Room was lovely and spacious parking good. Toilet seat was ill fitting and moved around. The breakfast was ok nothing special didn’t feel freshly cooked. Bar area had a lovely fire place but tables and chairs design felt out of place. Music was too loud and unnecessary.
- Robert (8/5): Good stay, I will certainly use this venue again, food was good and fairly priced. - Staff were very friendly, and service was great. Rooms were clean and very well presented. Car Parking in the village square, struggled to get a spot close to the hotel.
- Martyn (6/5): - Well-located with respect to my meeting This hotel "met my expectations" because I was told what to expect by colleagues in advance. It is well-situated but a bit tired and worn. The heating in my room was not very effective, and there was no heating at all in the bathroom.
- Kate (10/5): - Friendly, cosy and clean.
- Louise Southgate (10/5): - Location parking clean and updated room Nothing was perfect for what we needed
- David (8/5): Good accommodation and friendly atmosphere - Central location All good
- Shannon (10/5): Cute inn in the heart of Wallingford with great food/staff and access to all the places around town. - The staff was what really sold us on our stay here. They were so great both at the front desk and in the pub. The food at breakfast seemed a little pricy for what we got, but it was good. We ate dinner in the pub twice and it was absolutely delicious. In fact, we had the same thing both days because it was so good.
I had also emailed a lot of questions prior to my stay with some requests and all were met and answered. Really enjoyed it, would absolutely return here. Nothing
- Juliet (8/5): -
- David (8/5): have stayed at George before and obviously satisfied. Will hopefully come again - Location pleasant and comfortable. Food served in timely manner and was cooked well and was tasty. Staff pleasant and helpful Would have liked some cranberry juice with starter. Ran out of brown bread for toast.
- NORMAN (8/5): Great place central to the town meeting our needs - Excellent choice fab cooked breakfast it was huge, good choice of cereals etc Can't fault the hotel
- John (7/5): -
- Graeme (10/5): great stay A1 - we had our horse run at Market Rasen races.
Its a great place to stay only 25 min to the course. The staff were great and free parking in the town square. It was a breakfast to die fore . We will be back defo next time we have a runner. nothing all was good
- Clive (10/5): I thourghly enjoyed my night at the George ad I would recommend it to any of my friends. - The George is a very pleasant 16th/17th xentury building setting a very pretty village. The room was clean tidy and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and the omlete I had for breakfast was absolutely amazing.
- Caroline (10/5): Good central place to stay - Excellent breakfast, bar area was good. Staff helpful.
