When I stepped in the room smelt terrible. When I asked they said some people smoke in non smoking rooms. they have to be strict on that. Smoking should only be in designated places

• smokeybear2019 (10/5): Hilton Garden Inn Chengdu - We stayed here for the 2019 World Police and Fire Games. The staff was VERY HELPFUL!! The dinner room staff went above and beyond especially Eddy and Adel. There is onsite laundry so you can wash your clothes. Their gym area could use a couple more pieces of equipment. There is no pool but they do have a SPA. It is located right next door to a local shopping area. We actually bought hot food from the shopping mall and brought it back to the room. We had forgotten our cell phone adapter and they gave us one to use.

• Shelley (10/5): Warm staff and VERY good for the price - Very nice staff, warm! The rooms has AC unit but doesn’t turn on so it was very warm I had to ask the staff to leave the window open. The month is March and just starting to get warm. Don’t turn on the AC even the setting is in Cold Air because only heater will come on!
• Angiesu1 (6/5): OMG, smoking is allowed at a Hilton Property? - As always, the hotel staff is excellent especially the housekeeping crew. Breakfast is exceptional! There were two things we were disappointed with during our stay: 1. Smoking in public places, such as the spa and near the gym. 2. Spa service. We signed up for a 90 min massage and received 70 mins. Although they made it up the next day after I expressed my concerns to the manager, the atmosphere was not the top rated Hilton standard. People were smoking in the waiting area and the entire floor was filled with unpleasant odors. Other than the above, the hotel is near shopping centers and not far to Emei Mountain and it is very inexpensive to stay at the hotel.
• Thunderpiggy (10/5): One of the best HGI in Greater China - I ain't stay at lots of HGI, this is the one which impressed! Receptionists were both professional and smart (Credits belong to the Front desk, always there for me!) F&B was also good:) The room was spacious, high floor, standard HGI. As a Diamond member, complementary services and treatments from the HGI Chengdu were highly appreciated! Keep smart and look forward to the next stay.
• DavidFrw (8/5): Very nice hotel, location not so much - Having stayed in a number of Hilton Garden Inns, this one is by far one of the nicest properties. Lobby is very nice, rooms are spacious and the hotel really does look only two years old. We were there for sight seeing and to be honest this hotel is not ideal for it. There is a Metro stop about 10-15 mins by Taxi which the hotel staff are happy to assist in ordering, however getting back from the subway to the hotel can prove challenging and both nights we travelled here we were forced to walk back to the hotel (about 30 minutes or so) despite flagging down numerous taxis they were uninterested. I know construction is taking place on the subway and if this hotel is lucky to benefit from a stop within a 5 minute walk of the property it will assist greatly in making it a more desirable location for tourists.
• bladdamasta (8/5): A good hotel, but not well located for tourists - I chose this hotel because of a great deal with Hilton Honours points. It is clean and well appointed. The staff are very helpful. I couldn't work out why this hotel has been located where it is. Even the Global Centre is quite a long way away. I found it difficult to get a taxi one night. So, if you want to see the old sights, you are a long way away. I must complement one staff member (whose name I can't remember) for looking out for me. I was sitting in the bar watching the World Cup. A rowdy and friendly bunch of Chinese men asked me to join them for some "Ganbei, ganbei" activity. I am an Australian of Western appearance. The staff member kept on checking in to ensure that I was alright, as the gentlemen kept on drinking heavily and getting more rowdy. I was fine, but I really appreciated the staff member keeping an eye out and checking in.
• marksalzer2018 (6/5): Good for business travelers - My wife and I just stayed for the first time at the Hilton Garden Inn Chengdu Huayang. We travel a lot for business, and this hotel meets the basic needs just fine. I had lots of trouble staying connected to the wifi, almost to the point where I could not take care of important business, so a bit disappointing as compared to other hotels. We are very thankful for a very capable air conditioner, and for the clean room. The buffet breakfast seems to offer less than Holiday Inn Express, but I enjoyed the waffle machine and mango juice. Location isolated, but we were able to walk back from dinner last night at a Sichuan hot pot using GPS on my phone from about 2km away.
• hb777818 (10/5): a good hotel - it provides high quality service and food. the location is a little bit far from downtown, so maybe not a good choice for tourists. but it's OK for a business trip since it's close to the city's new areas including high tech zones.
• V2884PTthomast (10/5): Great, clean hotel which caters to foreigners - This is about my 10th time staying at this property and I’ve always been pleased. Normally I like to,stay at Homewood suites or Hilton, but this Hilton Garden Inn is excellent. The staff is helpful and patient which is very important to me given the language barrier. Finding English speakers is not always easy in Sichuan. The hotel has very nice rooms which are very clean. Also, the morning breakfast is well done.
• xil283 (10/5): Great stay - Stayed here for 2 nights on a business trip. This Hilton Garden Inn actually has a very nice lobby, clean room, comfortable beds, reasonably priced, and good service. Overall good stay and no complaints.
• 468aricb (8/5): NIce Hotel, not so central location - I spend a weekend at the hotel. The hotel is nice but very basic. No swimming pool etc. You will need a taxi ride to get anywhere in the city, 30 minutes away from the center. The hotel personnel trying to please but not always successful. Breakfast was really good, but starts at 6:30am. If you need to catch a 8am flight, there is no way you can enjoy breakfast. On the positive side, it is priced attractively. The hotel spa is very expensive for you can get in the city. When one hour massage costs you triple the nightly rate you paid to stay there, you know something is wrong. Overall, it is a good hotel for low budget travelers that don't mind the location and come only to sleep in the hotel. AB
• GabyHuang (10/5): comfortable stay - I booked this with my Hilton points and it is my best experience so far. The rooms are clean and comfortable and there is a subway station under construction which locates right next to the hotel.The staff are so friendly and helpful and they let us do an early check-in. The most worthwhile stay ever!
• alexhI9724ED (4/5): No air conditioning. No money back. - We stayed at this hotel for twice this year but the air conditioning was shut off by the hotel for both times. We asked a manager why and were told there was "no need for air conditioning in April". The room was actually over 80F and we were barely able to get any good sleep. Asked money back since we didn't get what we paid for but were declined. Except the air conditioning issue, the room was clean and the breakfast was decent.
• V2884PTthomast (10/5): Hilton Garden Inn - Chengdu - This hotel is the best Hilton Garden Inn I've stayed at ever. The staff is helpful and prompt, Their English is pretty good, which is almost impossible to find in Chengdu. Very good points value for the money. Also, one can take a 5 minute ride on a scooter to reach the Metro line one (1) at Haifu Ave.
• ricedion (10/5): Beautiful brand new garden Inn property. Friendly staffs. - Just before writing this review, I saw the previous poster gave poor review and I found absolutely amusing. Yes this property is not near downtown and tourist attractions, which I did use google map to check and understand if this is suitable for me or not. Don't book this hotel without any research and found it surprising afterward. It is closer to the airport. I negotiated with the taxi driver from airport to take me to the hotel for 70RMB since he refused to use the meter, which I later found out I got a good deal. The closest Metro - Huafu Avenue is about 30 min walking distance. The first few days, hotel front desk called a taxi for me to get to the Metro (about 20-23 RMB). When I come back after work rush hour (7pm ish), you will notice that there are tuk tuk outside the station. I printed the hotel name in chinese characters, and they knew exactly where it is, they asked for 10RMB. I'm very adventurous, so I tried to learn how to take the bus, even though I'm not fluent in Mandarin. I figured out that there's a few buses behind the supermarket Anchon, and their last stop is go to that nearest Metro, and only cost you $2 RMB. Therefore, I know exactly where I can take the bus back to the hotel (813 goes to the back of Anchon; but 815 will go to the stop almost in front of the hotel). As a Diamond member, I was able to use 5000 points to book a stay here, and was give complimentary breakfast and upgrade to a room on the highest floor. Room is spacious and beautiful. Bedding is very comfortable. I hope they have more English channels for international guests. Breakfast was good with lots of choices from both western and local, but I found that the local dishes are the same almost every day. I recommend to change the dishes once in awhile to provide different variety. Although front desk staffs spoke minimal English, it's good enough for us to communicate, and they smile and tried to help as much as they could. That's welcoming. Housekeeping is excellent. Our housekeeper noticed that I bought medication for my stomach. He left a note for me to wish me well and provided two extra bottles to ask me to drink more warm water which would be good for the stomach. That's a nice touch, and I appreciate for that. Met with two managers and they were helpful and friendly. One of them mentioned that once the new Metro is built near the property in approx 2019, it will be much more convenient to the hotel guests to take public transportation to do sightseeing. I would come back to this hotel if I come back to Chengdu next time. I believe it's good value for the money you pay.
• Julietzhu (6/5): Out of nowhere and poor housekeeping - This hotel is out of nowhere (outside the municipality) and it takes on an average 1-1.5 hours to get to any tourist attractions either by public transport or by taxi. If you are taking a taxi, please note nobody wants to come here and you have to pay 50% more on top of the metered amount according to the rules of the taxi company. For example, it cost 90 rmb to come to hotel by taxi from airport and when I take taxi from tourist attraction Jinli from city center, it only cost me 40 rmb. If you want to go anywhere, you also cannot get a taxi and the hotel people had no idea of how to direct you around. We stayed for 3 nights and it was absolutely difficult to get to anywhere, even from nearby mrt, nobody want to take you to this hotel and you have to give them lots of money so that they can. The room service is horrible, no replacement of the shampoos and conditioners after it's finished the previous day and I had to call reception in the middle of the showers to get shampoos. When you are out during the day, they turn on air conditioning for you, when you come back after the heavy rain, the room is as cold as the freezer, and I do not understand why.
• sf999 (6/5): Ok but not great - Just finished a 3 night stay at this hotel. I have to say the rooms were very nice and I got a complimentary upgrade to a suit which was great. The service was ok but the biggest issue was the lack of English even with the front desk staff. That can get annoying when you need to book taxis etc. Used the gym. Pretty limited but a few cardio machines and some free weights. Could use more. Weights for those that work out that way. Was hoping for room service as I was really tired one night but out of luck. They do have a pantry in the lobby if you want some snacks for your room. Didn't eat at the restaurants. If the English had been better I would probably give this hotel 4 stars but it was an annoying point. Most China hotels are at a better level.
• Tourist669283 (10/5): A beautiful city and brand new Hilton property - While traveling China, we have been challenged not speaking the language. Alan (the property manager) went out of his way to welcome us and assist any way possible. He actually even used his own phone (and the needed Uber for China app) to order us a larger car for transport downtown and back to the airport. Beautiful suites, lobby and breakfast/eating area on the 5th floor. This property is a distance from downtown, yet points needed for an overnight were minimal and taxi's are cheap yet budget 40 minutes for the trip. Great job Alan and HGI team. You have a beautiful city, hotel and approach to customer service!
• V2884PTthomast (10/5): Hilton Garden Inn Chengdu - This an excellent hotel with very reasonable prices. The staff is very courteous and quick to check people in and out. I particularly like Gailly who speaks English well. The Breakfast buffet has both Western and Chinese dishes and is quite good.

• Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel listing says that they have room service, they do not. The hotel is beautiful and the room is great. However, I asked for them call me a cab to go to the airport. He insisted I pay 80 yuan, but the trip to the hotel from the airport was only 39. I told him to give me a metered ride, he refused. The hotel staff would not back me up, saying I had to pay for him to come to the hotel AND to go to the airport. So, I shared a ride with another group of people going to the airport. I was really upset that they expected me to pay twice the normal rate and that the hotel did NOTHING to support my position.
