Guest Reviews
- Caroline (10/5): - This is a comfortable place to stay closed to the city centre yet in a quiet and tranquil location. It is due to close and will be a great loss. We have stayed many times and will miss it enormously. Many thanks to the staff for their care and attention over the years.
- Louise (8/5): - Friendly hotel and conference centre that clearly was a stunner in it's heyday, but now is clearly being run down for closure. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Breakfast was a continental with good pastries and coffee, just a shame that there was no cooked option and the hours served (despite being a weekend) were short at 0730-0900. Beds were comfortable, room was a good temperature, shower was excellent. Kettle, tea, coffee, biscuits provided. Despite room notice stating that there would be a housekeeping service for stays of more than one night, that didn't happen. No evening catering. The local pub recommended on the hotel website didn't seem to take bookings after 1730 and was extremely busy. Other places to eat within walking distance seemed to be in very short supply, so we gave up and drove to Fosse Park to eat on both evenings.
- Graham (6/5): Adequate room but shortfalls in staying here - The room was adequate, though the bed was quite small, and not the comfiest. Breakfast just seems too early to end at 9am on a Sunday too, and there is no hot breakfast sadly. My son in the adjoining room decided to skip breakfast but was woken by housekeeping at 9.10am for some reason. Tee staff re however, very helpful and friendly
- Raphael (10/5): - Quiet setting in smart area. Well appointed rooms with quality furniture, fittings and comfortable beds. Helpful reception staff. Mostly very good in all respects. A telephone contact number that is answered would help. I tried several times in vain during the course of a day. Breakfast included should have pointed out cold buffet with no cooked foods. But nothing here to prevent me booking again, the pluses outweighing the negatives.
- Anne (10/5): Weekend stay - Wonderful , the peace , the room and right near the lovely arboretum . Just what I needed and more !
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great convenient place to stay. The room service is a bit random
- Constance (10/5): - Everyone was so friendly and it was so very clean , breakfast was delicious and plenty of variety. Room was spacious and clean bathroom was big and shower was great 😊
- Alastair (10/5): - Loved the showers, breakfasts, room could’ve had mor furniture (drawers) and coathangers
- Pratik (10/5): - The staff were kind, polite, professional, and accommodating. The lady who checked me in the evening was especially professional. The room was immaculate, and I appreciated that they clean it every day, unlike many other hotels these days. Breakfast was good as well. The only minor issue I encountered was that the flush wasn't working properly, but I believe that was just an isolated case.
- Bernie931 (8/5): Pleasantly surprised - I stayed in this hotel recently as I was on a few night shifts and live quite a distance from work and often find a hotel to stay in if i'm on nights or if I am on training days.
I was pleasantly surprised! I was placed in the furthest building which wasn't too far of a walk from the car park, the room was clean, spacious and had everything you need! The hotel was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. They service your room every day and I had left a note asking them not to come in to service as I was on nights and sleeping, the housekeepers fully respected that and left me to sleep.
The only things to mention is I feel breakfast times do not take into account people that may have to leave early for work as it is only served from 7.30-9. It would be better from 6.30 maybe? When I am on 8-4 for training days, this would be an issue if I was to stay here.
The bed was quite hard and the toilet does not flush well at all even after following the directions on the sign...but I will definitely stay here again!
- Ijeoma (10/5): - Particular about clean and quite environment and that’s what i saw in the facilities in the room assigned to me.
It was cosy and comfortable to be in. A home away from home, breakfast excellent.
Would recommend College court hotel anyday to others that are in leicester and looking for a good hotel there.
- Alan (10/5): - It was in a good area.
- J216RLdavida (10/5): Hidden Gem - A very reasonably priced bed and breakfast accommodation for our overnight stay in Leicester. Quiet location, friendly service with a sumptuous breakfast buffet spread.
The room was comfortable, very clean and well appointed. Great value.
- Meandmygirllll (2/5): Ideal for Men - Designed by men for men l. this hotel is cheap at the weekend and close to the Leicester Uni accommodation.
It used to be uni halls itself and has been reworked as a budget option. With a range of separate buildings a distance from reception
However
As a solo female traveller with a single booking and a female name I was put in the furthest building from reception and the car parking facilities 2 flights up at the end of a corridor.
This lacks thought. I was honestly concerned for my safety.
The room is also not designed with female travellers in mind having no mirror above the desk/dressing table and no chair near the mirror to dry your hair or do make up
Shampoo is available no conditioner
It’s 2025 they should be doing a lot better
- Suleman (10/5): - Stayed here many times. Brilliant place to stay, rooms are spacious and very clean, warm and cosy rooms
- veronica (10/5): Lovely room - Good, clean and comfy bed
- Carlo (10/5): - Clean , comfortable, good value
- liz (10/5): - Excellent spot quiet, comfortable and clean with excellent food. Breakfast particularly good!!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay - Great place to stay. Nice sized room, comfy bed. Awesome shower. Lovely buffet style breakfast. Would definitely stay again.
- Donal (10/5): - Super clean - good breakfast (but breakfast service ends at 9 am so don’t sleep in!)
- Peter (8/5): - We stay often and it suits us well.
Comments;
Room was very warm…too warm.
Showers a bit aggressive and couldn’t direct head.
Furniture and carpets now a bit jaded.
We will continue to use College Court.
- Andrew (8/5): - Very dorm like. No elevators. Great staff! Very helpful. Good value.
- Liz (8/5): - Convenient place to stay, lovely lady on check-in. Rooms were clean though bed wasn't as comfy as had hoped, but was fine
- Spyridon (10/5): Cozy and clean, warn and spacious room. - Cozy and clean, warn and spacious room. Great choice.
- Clyde (10/5): - Very good
- David (6/5): - No one at reception when we arrived waited quite a few minutes
We where staying to go to a family party and already late
We were on third floor no lifts and I’ve got bad knees
Other than this very clean, good breakfast
- espressoHE (10/5): excellent quality and value - I was very impressed with College Court and the quality of the (executive) room far exceeded my expectations. Arrival and check was very quick and straightforward - ample parking on site - and the converted former university hall of residence into a conference centre and hotel is located in a peaceful area of leicester about 10 minutes drive/ 30 minutes walk to the town centre.
My room consisted of a small double bed, a separate study area and good sized shower room - with a nice powerful shower. Everything was modern, clean and tidy and well thought out. Lots of plugs in the right places. Breakfast was a good range of cold and hot buffet style foods. And it was excellent value. I'll stay here again if visiting leicester for business. Much better than many city centre chain hotels and much better value.
- davidpA7133JN (8/5): Functional, welcoming and good value. - Needing to spend a night in Leicester to visit the Public Records Office on Friday, I discovered this pleasant hotel. I attended Leicester Uni in the late 1960's for my degree so realised this was walking distance to university. My route through Victoria Park past the university from the station brought back endless memories. All the more poignant as I walked past my old digs in St Leonards Road to find College Court at the end of Queens Road in Knighton. It is owned by the university and presumably hosts many conferences and academic visitors. The front desk folk were very helpful, the room was perfectly comfortable, better than many hotels I've stayed in and breakfast included had an excellent variety of fruit/cereal/bread and cooked items. Bizarrely, I couldn't see any napkins which would have been handy on the bare table tops. A very minor quibble. Great value and conveniently half way to my destination, another two miles walk through Knighton Park the next day. Although I was happy to walk, I soon realised the bus service in Leicester is reliable and frequent and it seems the 44/44A would have taken me from outside the hotel to South Wigston. Indeed, I took the 47 back to the city centre straight down Welford Road. The hotel wasn't serving other meals but had a spacious bar and lounge for refreshments. On the recommendation of the staff, I walked 2 minutes left out of the hotel, round the corner to the Cradock Arms-a large and busy pub serving meals and a convenience store next door for snacks or newspapers.
- Mr Gary (8/5): - Excellent value for money
- Emily (10/5): - Easy, comfortable, quiet and the breakfast was excellent. Staff at check in, breakfast and checkout all friendly and happy to help. Basic room but does the job, clean and quiet.
- John (10/5): - Very enjoyable stay
- Chris (10/5): Breakfast was the winner - Very acceptable. Additionally , the breakfast was really impressive. Sadly, as there for the half marathon , unable to feast away busily.
- mariangela (10/5): - Great location and good value for money
- Adrian (10/5): - Nice location, staff very friendly and reminded me of my old university
- Karen (10/5): Rugby stop over - Very present for a trip to Welford Road
Everything was surprisingly good including breakfast.
Will certainly stay again
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Really nice compact room, everything was close to hand clean and comfortable I would stay at college court again oh and a great breakfast best vegan sausages I’ve ever had
- Mandy (8/5): - Clean, comfortable bed
- D (10/5): Really rather good indeed. - I really can't fault this place. The staff were super helpful, polite and friendly. Room and bathroom were very clean, heating worked, good shower, very comfy bed, quiet. Buffet breakfast was as good as anywhere else I've stayed. For a 3* hotel at this price point there was absolutely nothing to complaint about I'd rate it 3.9* Also, there is an equally excellent pub about 2 minutes down the road which serves food until 9pm and is reasonably priced.
- Prabhat (8/5): Overall very good - Overall very nice experience, rooms were clean and comfortable, staff was helpful during check in and accomodate my last minute request to change the room. Although it should be 24 hours front desk support but no one was available at front desk after 11pm.
- Mr A (10/5): Would use again - VG value, very helpful staff. Esp. suitable for anyone with mobility problems.
- Samantha (10/5): Great place to stay - Love staying at this place! Really easy to check in, comfortable rooms, friendly staff and good breakfasts!
- Daniel (2/5): - Staff are dishonest I left my aftershave behind and when I called they told me after two chase up calls that cleaner found nothing. Expensive present lost won’t be using this hotel ever again.
- Caroline (10/5): - The hotel was quiet, had ample parking and the room had everything I needed. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location meant I could walk in the arboretum after my arrival.
A comfortable welcoming hotel in a great setting !
- Patrick (8/5): - This venue is clean, modern and well appointed. The rooms are not huge but perfectly adequate. The bathroom had plenty of hot water but it me a while (a day!) to work out how to make the shower run hot - stand well back. There is plenty of parking space. I travelled by train and taxi from the station is about £7.
The breakfast was plentiful and with a wide choice. One downside is there is no evening meal so it's really bed and breakfast. The nearest eating place is the Craddock Arms a five minute walk which is very good if a bit pricey. It also gets very busy. The next alternative is a series of restaurants along Queens Road but about a 20-30 minute depending how fit you are.
- Deborah (10/5): - Lovely planting in between the buildings. Excellent food and service, and a friendly, relaxed, peaceful atmosphere.
- RICHARD (8/5): - The bar closed ridiculously early on Saturday night. The breakfasts were superb
- Rajbeer (6/5): - Student halls of residence being used as a hotel.
Weekend breakfast 7.39-9am.
Basic settings basic decor & furniture
- Michael (10/5): - Modern and clean accommodation in nice area.
Great staff
Fantastic breakfast
Will stay again
- Chris (8/5): - College Court is conveniently located in Leicester. The staff are excellent and the rooms acceptable for a 3 star hotel. There is limited socialising space at the weekend as the bar area is closed and there is no Saturday evening dining available. There is the Cradock across the road but, on the Saturday we stayed half of the pub was closed off for a private function and it was extremely busy.
The only other issue I had was that when booking via Expedia, on their website, one of the highlights of the booking was that the 3 rooms I booked all had balconies. This was not the case so I would advise contacting the hotel to confirm whether or not this is the case.
Overall, I would recommend College Court and would certainly stay there again.
- john (10/5): - Excellent
- Yay (10/5): - The place is very nice
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was great!
- A (6/5): - The breakfast starts a little late at 7:30, another half an hour would be ideal for those leaving early. The breakfast itself and the facilities are great
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Poor assistance with portering of luggage for obviously struggling guests on arrival. Much better at check out. No bathroom amenities and leaking shower on arrival - though quick trip to reception sorted. Limited breakfast and bar hours however very quiet time of year so probably reasonable. Friendly and helpful bar staff.
- Tyri (8/5): - It has nice scenery and nature around it
- James (10/5): - Located in a nice residential area, good parking, very quiet, nice bathrooms, comfortable beds all in all a great place to stay
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The stay was quite a bit more expensive than we usually would pay when we travel to Leicester to see family. The hotel was convenient, and it had good parking. Our room was smaller than anticipated, and the bed even smaller than that though. Didn’t get a good nights sleep due to this and the room being quite humid.
Clean enough. The staff were nice enough with the little interaction I had with them. Overall the stay was fine, it just felt like we were staying in student halls which felt a bit weird.
The breakfast was good. One of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had in ages. Overall, convenient. I wouldn’t rule out coming back, but if there are other options at a similar price point - I’d probably try somewhere else.
- SELVA (8/5): - The photos of the bed showed a 7 or 8 foot bed, but it was only a standard double bed, not even a king size bed.
I felt deceived.
You need to keep two towels if two persons have booked, not say to get the towels from reception.
Receptionist needs more skills to make it pleasant for the guest.
- Paul (10/5): - Great place and staff are really friendly and helpful.
- Katherine (10/5): - Clean comfortable and quiet. Excellent shower. Great breakfast.
Good parking.
- Mary (10/5): - Lovely calming place to stay, with nice landscaped courtyard to sit in and next to the arboretum. Staff are all friendly and super helpful. A special shout-out to Alzar(?) on reception, who helped me out when my taxi didn’t turn up.
It would be nice if they still did evening meals. Though there are loads of nice places to eat in easy walking distance, especially the Cradock, Halcyon and Martin Bros Micropizzeria.
- chris (10/5): - All fine, pretty standard stuff but I particularly enjoyed the views of the trees from my window
- Neil (10/5): Very impressed - Really clean and very nice room. Very impressed.
- Anna (8/5): Great place to stay - We really like this hotel and stayed few times. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The breakfast is very nice and plenty to choose from.
- Andrew (8/5): - Very nice convenient hotel. Nice atmosphere.
- Caroline (8/5): - I felt very safe here.
It was also quiet
Clean comfortable room
Good surrounding area
- R (10/5): - Stay ever month all service levels are great. Will continue to stay their.
- Lynda (8/5): - Hotel and service were good, would have been even better if option to have evening meal provided.
- John (6/5): - Thougjt the room was cramped and clostrophobic. Breakfast was really good exceptthe sausages(they tasted very cheap &frizen)
- Heather (10/5): - So sad I've finally found somewhere decent and reasonably affordable near Evington just as the friends who organised the choir weekends I was attending there are moving elsewhere! Very good stay at College Court, decent breakfast. Well laid out bathroom with plenty of surfaces to put toiletries bags etc. Comfortable bed. Good night's sleep.
- Benjamin (8/5): - Nice, tidy and clean rooms and facilities. Great venue for conference. Surrounding area not so nice.
- Samantha (2/5): Awful stay with terrible customer service - On returning to the hotel, the room door would not open and they did not have a method on site of opening it, had to be relocated to a different room, leaving my belonging in a separate room. The room I was moved to, have a vape next the the bed. I was told I would be provided with a refund but nobody from College Court has called me, replied to my complaint on hotels.com or replying to my emails. Also the water cut out in the morning, mid shower.
- Sally (6/5): - Upon arrival had to wait 10 mins for receptionist to return to desk after taking someone to room but she came back leisurely eating an apple and by which time the reception was full of guests. We had booked two rooms but was told only one booking. Showed receipt on Expedia which she acknowledged and provided another room. We were leaving at 8am next day for graduation and asked if could have breakfast in room. That was not an option so had to rush to get ready to be in breakfast for 7.45 with taxi booked at 8am.
Very stressful time so not really helped by room not being given initially. Room was ok but awake all night with what sounded like water dripping on pipe work outside. We had downstairs room and guests were passing immediately in front of room talking and smoking loudly. All in all not impressed
- Mr Brian (10/5): - Quiet and great vibe
- Giuseppina (8/5): - The venue was our Uni halls of residence so we loved reminiscing. The place had hardly changed. The rooms were clean and a nice bathroom but the beds were like a camp bed - not comfy at all. The breakfast is excellent.
- Philippa (8/5): - I stayed there mainly for nostalgia, it was my old halls of residence. It still looks like a halls of residence and the outside needs painting and smartening up, but the staff are lovely, it’s clean and breakfast is good.
- Robert (10/5): - Friendly efficient service. Quiet functional location and buildings.
- Lisa (10/5): - Friendly and welcoming staff.
- Edward (8/5): Nice place poor mattress - They nice room and place we were there for a kasabian gig at Victoria Park so was super convenient but the bed was very hard and uncomfortable
- Fozia (8/5): - Clean&tidy rooms well equipped with everything you need, excellent breakfast. I use for business travel, it’s very convenient for parking and there are good restaurants /coffee shops and supermarkets just 10min walk from hotel. Rooms use to be university halls but all well maintained with refurbished bathrooms. Reasonable prices too. Would recommend for anyone wanting a night or two.
- James (10/5): - Really enjoyable place to stay. For us it is super convenient as it is just round the corner from family. Staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Though the bedrooms aren't massive (there's only one desk chair for example) there's a large lounge in the Dannat building where you can get a free coffee in the afternoons. Breakfasts are fulsome!
- Kevin (8/5): - Good service and excellent breakfast
- Peter (10/5): - Quiet location, exactly what was needed.
- Alina (10/5): Perfect stay. - The room was spotless and easy to get to/ access. very comfortable and everything we needed was in the room. Huge bathroom (good for families!). Beautifully kept surroundings and friendly staff. The breakfast was an excellent spread! If we ever return to Leicester I'll definitely return to College Court. Thank you!
- Angela (8/5): - Stayed for two nights in July with my husband. The room was basic for a four star hotel but had everything we needed.
Pros: Lovely, helpful staff. Free parking. Close to transport links. Good breakfast.
Cons: Breakfast was only until 9am, even at the weekend. The blackout curtains are too small for the windows, so lots of light gets in. We lost water twice on the morning we checked out. The bed is a standard double and quite hard.
The area is fairly quiet and well kept. We'd stay again if they sorted out the small snags.
There was also a general issue of being able to hear other guests in the corridor. Thats not the fault of the hotel though. Don't be the person who can't keep their mouth shut in the early morning or late at night, the rest of us like to sleep!
- christopher (10/5): Lovely hotel in nice area - Great value for money hotel perfect for short city break.
- Lisa (10/5): Great place to stay with a good breakfast - Great location for event at Victoria park. Good facilities and a great breakfast
- REBECCA (10/5): - Brilliant location, fabulous accommodation as we had a suite, cost is very reasonable, the staff were all lovely and friendly and the breakfast presentation and choices were fantastic!! Great place and will definitely stay again when next in Leicester. Thank you so much.
- Claire (10/5): Birthday concert - Just perfect.
- Luke (10/5): - Perfect location for attending an event at Victoria Park
- Steven (10/5): - A pleasant stay for one night. It was clean and staff were helpful.
- Aveen (8/5): - Nice place to stay.
- John (6/5): - Very cursery reception who failed to mention anything about the hotel facilities and in particular the breakfast arrangements. We thought we'd missed breakfast as the card we were given said it finished at 9am, but apparently if found out on checking out it was extended to 10am.
The bed was very small and only one pillow available.
Disappointing given what we paid for the room.
- Paul (8/5): - Great location. 25 min walk to victoria park to watch Kasabian
- Cheryl (10/5): - Clean rooms, breakfast very good fresh fruit lovely staff very good.
- Martin (10/5): - Excellent
- Gillian (10/5): Great Place for a Short Break - Stayed here for two nights with my daughter. Handy for Victoria Park Concert with plenty of parking. Clean room. Friendly helpful staff. Definately stsy again.
- Teresa (10/5): - Grear value and good place to stay. David Attenborough' arboretum is worth a tranquil visit, and just behind the hotel
- Jawahir (10/5): - Good comfortable room
Breakfast fine
- Ian (8/5): - Decent price, room a bit cramped but adequate. Food was good
