Verified traveler (8/5): Great place let down by racial profiling incident - This was my second time staying at the Kololi Beach Resort, and the hotel itself is great—great location, nice rooms, and excellent front-of-house staff. However, my stay was ruined by an overzealous security guard who was probably only doing what he had been taught to do - keep Black women out, who they assume all must be "ladies of the night." was stopped by a security guard who did not approach me with any kind of courtesy and demanded to know what I was doing at the hotel and whether I was staying there.

Jenny (6/5): Probably better in main accomodation. - We were fortunate enough to be given an upgrade from standard to superior - how we wish now that we were not. Check-in was an interesting experience and despite on check-out almost being hustled out of our room by the cleaner there was no option around getting into the room early if it was ready. Not a big deal as could go use the pool and towels are provided. The room was big, clean with the bathroom a little dated with a broken handle on the door and a shower head that was a little tempremental. The biggest issue was the noise from the bar accross the road which went on to around 3am on the weekend and about 2am during the week. Not the hotels fault - and becuase we were only there a short time we didn't ask to move rooms as firstly the reason for the upgrade was the shortage of standard room and quite honestly I could not be bothered to pack and unpack again (the weekend extra time being the last 2 nights). If you are given a room in the Stones building my advice would be to ask to move to the other accomodation - unless you plan on drinking into the early hours then it would be perfect. While the Stones building does have it's own pool it is quite some way from the beach (and the main accomodation) and main pool area. Drinks were somehow more expensive in the top bar than the beach bar (for beer). We did not try the food but recommend the milkshakes. I would only stay here again if it is was in the accomodation blocks near the main pool/beach.
Sandra (6/5): - Most of the staff were very welcoming especially reception staff in particular Igbo. The restaurant staff were not as friendly. One of the staff did not give me my change back( 25 dalassi ). Got my orders wrong once or twice. On one occasion i did not get my food that i ordered. When i went to inquire the lady that served me said that she didnt realise that i ordered. But she was very apologetic. The room that i stayed in could have been cleaned better. The soap in the dish was soft and melted. I found this off putting to use so we never used it. We just used our own to wash our hands. The wash sink could have been cleaned daily. There was dirt on the bathroom door inside and outside. The sofa in our room had stains on it. The skirting had dust on it. We had asked for an iron and had to wait about 4 days but we got it in the end. The wifi was terrible. Whenever i went to reception the staff connected wifi but when i went to my room i couldnt get it and also couldnt get it on the beach just outside the restaurant. On the whole for how much we payed I would stay there again if the cleanliness and wifi availability improved. The reception staff and security staff were very polite and welcoming.

Richard (6/5): Don’t stay in the front block (stones) - Beachfront bar and restaurant excellent staff very friendly and attentive but made the mistake to stay in a superior room in the block they call stones very dated the block stairs and landings filthy all our stay and the noise terrible from the bar down the rd until 5am tried to move rooms but wanted over £700 stayed out but checked out a day early to get some kip

Oh, and no soap at all, much less any other bathroom product. Taken to very warm villa and dropped off without any explanation of anything. AC would not come on. Had to access a remote, unsecured wifi network to WhatsApp front desk because hotel’s wifi for this villa never worked for either of us. Once connected to front desk, was informed that AC was a paid upgrade!! Never heard of such a thing and certainly a BAD BUSINESS PRACTICE!! Agreed to pay extra, so maintenance man sent who actually removed and rewired the electrical box, while I held my phone light to help him because the lights also went out. AC finally on. Did I mention NO SOAP ANYWHERE? We’ve travelled extensively and this is one of THE WORST lodging experiences ever!! NOT RECOMMENDED because AC as an option without informing a guest is absurd!! Did I mention no soap anywhere?

Barbara (10/5): - This was an exciting place to stay! The beach is right there. The pool was lovely and the grounds were well kept (and often had monkeys and tons of birds.) The location was perfect. The staff was wonderful and we really loved having our villa to come home to after a day of exploring. You can hire a driver right at the hotel to take you around the city or beyond.

The room was very good, except for construction noise and refurbishment noise every morning that interfered with us sleeping in. Our major complaint is that they informed us on checkout day that they no longer accepted credit cards and it left us scrambling to find local currency at ATMs at the last second instead of enjoying our last day of vacation. Gambian Dalasis are very burdensome to carry around. You would need a suitcase and that’s if you can even find an ATM that dispenses the money. When we checked in, credit cards were accepted. One week later they are not. Management could not be bothered to help. Only gave us the obligatory “sorry, nothing we can do, have a nice day “ This left is feeling sorry for the competent wait staff and excellent chef because we will not be coming back to this resort because of their credit card policy and unhelpful management.

GABRIEL (6/5): A bit disappointed - They had strict rules when it comes to visitors making it seem like a little prison.. poor customer service and the reservation manager was very rude and very un approachable. You even have to pay extra for an air conditioner when Gambia is too hot and the villa’s don’t come with TV, so be prepared to entertain yourself.
Urvi (8/5): - Nice hotel, amazing staff - always smiling and ever so friendly. Time we visited, there was a lot of renovation work going on so didn’t have access to one of the pools. Most villas only have 1 air conditioning unit in the main bedroom so can get extremely hot and stuffy. If booked room only package AC UNIT NOT INCLUDED IN PRICE and you’ll need to pay extra per day that you want the AC - currently £8 per unit per day extra. Also, if you want to pay by card whilst at the hotel, there is a minimum spend requirement of £100, which we were not aware of. Overall, amazing staff who make the hotel great. The kitchens in the villas are also very well equipped and rooms are clean. Hotel is by the beach as well which is great. Lovely place to stay at.

Verified traveler (8/5): Nice, but staff was at times intrusive - The service was great, very charming live duo band would perform in the evenings and all of the staff was friendly and helpful, though some of the staff was a bit too friendly. I wouldn’t recommend traveling here as a young single woman as a few people in the staff tended to be a bit intrusive flirt quite a bit. It actually made me uncomfortable at times. Two of the men in particular, I shall name no names, insisted on having my number and then called relentlessly trying to set up dates despite my polite decline. I expected staff to be more professional. The staff frequently referred to the resort as a 5-star hotel, which I would strongly disagree with. Cockroaches are a plenty, the bed was very uncomfortable, the AC did not work properly and the wi-if is very slow. All in all, I would recommend, but mostly for couples and families because the staff might be less intrusive. Despite sounding harsh in my review it’s good value for the money and they have a nice pool and restaurant and th villas are overall very nice.
sulayman (10/5): 3 days at Kololi Beach Club - I stayed at the Kololi Beach Club for 3 days In march. This is by far the best hotel I have ever stayed in The Gambia. The room was spacious and spotless clean. Hotel is quiet and very relaxing. The staff were professional, helpful and friendly. Food was very good and the restaurant was welcoming. Check-in was quick and painless.

Tony (10/5): Excellent location - We had a great time there, we last went in 2012 and you can see the improvements to the resort. As usual everyone is very friendly and helpful. The weather as usual perfect.
Doreen (6/5): Not the best choice - Good location & beach but hotel is a bit run down. Lack of screens in the rooms is a problem in a mosquito area. Wifi did not work in reception area & we were told to go up to the Club near the road. In the end we went daily to the internet café in town. If you want AC in your room they charge 8Pounds per day. Otherwise, the rooms are unbearably hot. Five days prior to arrival we were quoted 20 Pounds for the airport transfer. But when we arrived they charged us 23 Pounds, saying it had gone up. We advised the front desk that we would need to leave very early & that we would pay out bill that evening. But when we went to reception they first told us our credit card was not accepted. We gave them a different card. Then they said their credit card machine did not work & they requested cash. Fortunately we managed to cobble together every penny we had. Otherwise, we would have had to go to town to the ATM.

Vi var i Gambia i en meget varm periode og stue og kjøkken ble til tider noe varmt, da det kun er en gulv-vifte i stuen. Dårlig internetforbindelse i leiligheten og det manglet faktisk en TV. Ellers et supert sted som absolutt kan anbefales. Vi kommer helt sikkert tilbake.
