Guest Reviews

Vivamente raccomandato !!!
- Daniel (10/5): Great Sahara stay - The staff was very helpful, and the location on the edge of the desert was perfect.
- Thomas (10/5): Wonderful accomodation on the edge of the Sahara - The host, Mbarek, is such a wonderful soul. Very relaxing to be around.
The sunrise, sunset, and stargazing from the accomodation terrace and outdoor area are incredible. During my stay there was only the sound of the roosters and birds to be heard in the morning 👌 One of the electric plugs in the dorm room needed replacing.
There were also no lockers in the dorm room, but the host kindly supplied the key to the dorm 👌
- Eva (7/5): Good - Beautiful hotel, lovely room and facilities. The owner was not there when we arrived and we had some trouble communicating with the staff on site. Also the owner expected us to take a desert tour with him, which was not clear at booking.
- Wojciech (10/5): The property is situated on the edge of desert - good for walking and good starting point for trips - Vety good sweet based breakfast with perfectly prepared Berber tea
- Filip (9/5): Great place and superb staff. - Great place to start a journey to Sahara. Nothing
- Angelos (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing in all senses. And super nice people.
- Judith (10/5): Book here! Trips to remember for your whole life - A million reasons to stay and definitely book a tour!
1) Fantastic staff. We were sick and they helped us in every way possible, from driving more slowly to offering a special tea to help our upset stomachs to changing meals last minute
2) Easy to contact, they always responded very quickly, cordially, and in detail. We felt we were in safe hands, which is essential when you're basically trusting someone with your life in an unfamiliar, dangerous environment (the desert)
3) Spacious, comfortable, clean, nicely decorated rooms in Mhamid and Erg Chigaga
4) Staff really cares about sharing their culture. They want you to feel at home and are happy to answer even the most banal questions
5) The tour really was the trip of a lifetime. I'm not exaggerating. We learned so much and lived--really lived--so much. From trekking with/on camels to traveling by jeep to climbing dunes to trying desert arugula to watching sand bread being made to relaxing to soaking up silence and learning to cook Moroccan desert-style... I will never forget these experiences and the people who welcomed us with open arms.
6) Fair prices. Our 3-day tour cost 360€ total all included for two people.
If you need a recommendation for a particular tour, we went on the 3-day Majesty of the Sahara tour, which I think struck a wonderful balance between showing us the natural, wild, nomad lifestyle (mobile camp) and seeing a wide variety of desert landscapes via jeep (fixed camp). The first day there was no one else around for miles; on the second, we took in a very impressive view of the dunes My advice: bring pillows and, if in winter, a sleeping bag if you're traveling in a mobile camp
- Patrick (6/5): A little disappointing. - Friendly host and cook Hamza, good location on the edge of the desert. Booked a tour which was enjoyable but not of the standard I had been lead to believe. First night under the stars, wild camping and walking with the camels was great. But the fixed camp at the dunes was shabby and run down, not what I had expected for the high euro rated price tag. Clarify what you are getting to avoid disappointment.
- Abdou (6/5): Pleasant - no comments 😅
- Marben (10/5): Authentic, Peaceful, Hospitable and Off the Beaten Path - An authentic and peaceful experience right on the edge of the Sahara Desert. Host Mbarek is genuinely hospitable. The property itself is spacious, with plenty of open areas to relax in— comfortable tents and large terrace. The vibe is relaxed, natural, and feels authentically Moroccan, without the hustle and bustle of touristy spots.
Located at the edge of M'Hamid Village, you get a stunning panoramic view of the Sahara Desert. The restaurant has traditional interiors with breathtaking views of the desert. The peacefulness of the place is a huge bonus, especially compared to the busier parts of town. It's quiet, away from the market noise and the construction in the center.
You can take a walk or a short hike to the nearby sand dunes, surrounded by palm trees and the old village ruins. It’s a perfect spot for those looking for something more off-the-beaten-path, and less touristy. Highly recommended for anyone seeking an authentic, serene desert experience.
- Sebastian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Krämer (10/5): Best place to be in Maroco! Everything was perfect. The desert Tour with MBarek is unforgettable! - Desert Tour, Breakfast, Location, Vibe, Social - Everything!!
- Flora (8/5): Recommend! - traditionally built kasbah at the end of the town with view towards sahara from the terrace. The included breakfast was filling and good.
warm water shower! shower head was a little demolished as well as the electricity slot
- Emma (10/5): Perfect, peaceful place at the end of the earth. - I spent two days at Dar Sahara, and I wish I could have stayed for two weeks! As a solo female traveler, Mbarek made me feel safe and well taken care of in this remote location. He picked me up from the bus station, prepared a Berber omelette upon my late-night arrival, and organized an excursion that perfectly fit my schedule. The rooms are beautifully furnished, the grounds have comfortable lounge spaces, and the overall atmosphere is magical. Mbarek's calming presence adds to the joy of the experience. Exploring the lodging area reveals beautiful structures and breathtaking sunsets over dinner. If I return to this part of the world, I'll prioritize booking one of Dar Sahara's camping or trek excursions. The attention to detail in every aspect exceeded my expectations!
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional - I booked on the day itself, unsure of what I was going to find. It's the last hostel in town before the desert, so it feels like you're at the edge of civilization, and it's great. The place is quiet, rustic but clean, and nicely done up. You can sit out at night and see the milky way and catch shooting stars.
Mohammed was a really great host, even lending me personal effects which I didn't have, and makes an amazing tagine which I'm still thinking about.
But what really made it was the desert tour. It was a bit strange being the only person in the group (aside from a friendly Moroccan couple who go to the camp every so often and knew the people already) but M'barrack and Hamadi made me feel included, translating all the jokes, stopping to point out special plants, and going to the same lengths and places they would if I was in a larger group.
They might run a hostel, but they are Bedouin, and the desert is a special place to them, full of stories and history. I'm really grateful they shared part of that with me. Not an experience I will ever forget! Nothing. It was all perfect.
- Ella (10/5): Exceptional - Very sweet, clean and comfortable room. The chill area and Terrasse are amazing. Breakfast was different every day and very good! This place very silent and calm in a positive way:)
- Selma (5/5): Passable -
- Irena (10/5): Exceptional -
- Davebarkshire (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, very funky.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful Desert Oasis vibe, with the water fountain! loved it!
- Katharina (10/5): Perfect Sahara adventure - It’s a beautiful place just before the Sahara starts. The house is very cozy and you find everything you need. We booked a Sahara trip for the next day and it is one of our favorite memories from Morroco. We would definitely come back!! nothing
- Claire (10/5): Exceptional - Mbarek & his team were outstandingly warm, welcoming and made everything a lot of fun. Great food, great place, great company I highly recommend.
- Micheline (9/5): Great little gem, very pleasant stay - Rooms were comfortable and beautifully decorated with local materials and arts. Mbarek is the star of this place, kind and helpful and great in the kitchen! We had a trip out to Erg Chegaga which Mbarek organised for us and which was truly amazing. The auberge is located in a quiet spot on the edge of the village.
- Natalie (10/5): Peaceful, genuine and beautiful stay. - I liked the fact it is the last guesthouse before the desert. As soon as you enter you have a feeling of coziness. Was a bit afraid of cold so MBarek offered an extra blanket. It was perfect. Food was yummy. Won’t change a thing.
- Md (2/5): Very poor - No heating in room, no hot water. Not worth the money.
- Natalie (10/5): Truly authentic and memorable experience! - We did love the outdoors atmosphere (terrace, the Berber tent…) but mostly the genuine kindness of the owner and his staff. Nothing to say
- Dubravka (9/5): Superb -
- David (9/5): Very nice desert tour! - Really like de vibe of the hostel and the host. He takes good care of his hostel. The omelette was good. He arranged a very nice desert tour at a decent price. The bed under the outside tent was a bit hard on my back but I liked the experience.
- Alexia (10/5): The most perfect oasis in M’hamid - Located only 5 mn walk to the village centre, which is perfect because you are right there to see the beauty of the desert surrounding you in a quiet atmosphere. The Kasba is beautifully decorated, and the ambience is peaceful and always welcoming. I found this place to be the best value for money compared to other places I tried in M’hamid. The room I had was comfy and clean.
I truly had the best time staying at Kasba Dar which was during the Taragalte Festival end of October, happening 7 km away in the sand dunes. Mbarek, the owner is an amazing host and so is his staff Khalid and Hamza who always made sure I had everything I needed and beyond. I truly found a home away from home, and left a piece of my heart there. Shukran bezaf Mbarek, Khalid and Hamza. Inchallah, I’ll be back.
- Zakaria (7/5): Good -
- Alexia (10/5): Exceptional -
