The building of the hotel is quite old (built in 1872(?)) so some parts are still original and has that old British appeal. The booking.com system did not allow to select a beach view room with two guests.

Gelukkig was alles binnen schoon en hygiënisch Wat uitzicht op ons balkon, wat erg smerig uitzag, maar dat is eigenlijk de hele buitenkant. Het is gewoon een verfbeurt toe.

- Nadia (4/5): I’m not booking it again for sure. - The second room offered was much more spacious and better value for money. For a 4 star hotel I was offered a very tiny room with a stained carpet and very old furniture. On top of that all the bathroom/ toilet was smelling of sewage. For £100/ night you’d expect more from a 4 star hotel. I was offered then another room as the state of this one was inhabitable.

- Davies (8/5): Lovely hotel with a great view - Great hotel, in a great location. Walkable to Newquay and the beach. Great views from the restaurant/bar looking out to the the sea. Bed was very comfortable, i had a great nights sleep. I would recommend. Car park is small but you can book a space, i would advise doing this. If all else fails there is free parking from 6pm - 10am in nearby streets. It is a little tired but the bed was very comfortable and a excellent night sleep was had.

First room sink plug in bathroom let the water out so couldnt use sink to wash. We was put in a room with a wash room so was unable to have a bath after a long journey down and shower head kept falling downwards we was moved. Second room wall lights didnt work only one was mended. Sink plug again let all the water out. The bath panel was not fitted correctly and blew and banged all night and due to this we had no sleep and we had a long journey back home after having no sleep. When we came down to breakfast this morning guests were talking to us and each other complaining of lack of sleep due to issues in their rooms. Sadly i agree with other guests we wont be staying here again and wasnt even offered compensation.

We always look forward to staying away from home Nd relaxing watching tv in the evening howver the bed was tiny! Yes we are not shrinking violets hower in this day & age most hotels use king size beds. We also felt the shower quality wasn’t great either- such a shame as the room refurb was lovely! Worth mentioning that when checking out we were not asked how our stay was which is very unsual as whenever we have checked out anywhere else the reception team always ask & seem to genuinely care.

Our room was very spacious and clean, there were plenty of tea bags, coffee etc...the shower was lovely and hot, the bed was very comfortable. All of the staff were very friendly, the breakfast was fantastic a good range to choose from and because we booked the breakfast with the hotel stay we were also able to choose from the continental breakfast options as well as ordering off the breakfast menu. The breakfast itself was delicious and well cooked. That our stay wasn't longer.

Very well run, with comfortable rooms and a great location. It's still a big old seaside hotel which you notice in the maze of characterless corridors. Bin collection at 5am so go for a sea view room if you van.

- Jones (8/5): Wish I could have stayed longer - Location and price were great, facilities also great with thought put into the finishing touches like local suppliers for tea/coffee and biscuits in the room and local artist painting on the wall, very clean and nicely decorated. I heard the hotel was undergoing refurbishment in stages and was surprised to hear I was in one of the ‘old’ rooms - I thought it was lovely! The hotel also has a pub/restaurant on the ground floor which offers incredible views of the nearby beaches. The floors and the stairs (which my room was next to) were very creaky, but I guess this is to be expected with such a historic building. I hear this is being addressed in the refurb though.

Would prefer wider choice on dinner menu with more vegetables, rice and 'home type' cooking eg fish, chicken in sauce or gravy.

Lage: direkt auf einer Klippe am Strand. Toller Blick aus dem Essenssaal. Frühstück: kleines (kaltes) Buffet, Hauptspeisen aus der Frühstückskarte wurden frisch zubereitet. Abends haben wir auch immer gut im Hotel gegessen. Kleiner, kostenpflichtiger Parkplatz direkt vor dem Hotel. Die Außenfassade und die Flure sind in die Jahre gekommen. Die Zimmer sind aber renoviert.

We had a stunning sea view, with big bay windows and it was glorious to open the curtains and see that view from bed in the morning. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, I would definitely book this hotel again. The location is also superb as its very central so easy to access the bars, restaurants and shops in Newquay. Thanks foe a fab stay. There isnt a lot of parking on site so early booking is essential.

- GlobeTrotting785292 (4/5): Very tired and poorly run - Best western newquay Cornwall extremely tired outdated mattress was disgustingly dirty plastic tumbler in bathroom dirty basically not very clean at all all floorboards creak and some were spongy in bedroom thought we would go through them no phone in room to contact front desk but no worries there as hardly manned anyway Staff in front desk unhappy we weren’t sure if they were staff as no uniform to book parking you have to ring them beforehand it only took 3 days to get an answer Restaurant was tired cobwebs on ceiling ripped curtains waiting staff behind bar were excellent apart from one young waitress dressed all in black who appeared very unhappy not once did she smile the others appeared to wear black and white striped tops and reminded of a prison uniform but were friendly and happy a lot of the orders were taken to the wrong tables so something not right there breakfast was I would class as medium toasters useless not a lot of options fried breakfast was ok but not great There photos online are highly filtered as the whole place needs a good clean and refurbished is really needed and soon even the entrance and outside is dirty and tired

Great shout out to Stacey our waitress who took the time to chat to us and the kids, kind approachable and made us feel welcome. Plus our little pup milo loved the little treats available. - scully2602 (8/5): Last minute stay. - Booked this hotel as a last minute booking due to our NYC holiday being cancelled! Friends recommended it as a lovely hotel to stay the also recommended us to pay for parking. (Fantastic tip!) We stayed for 3 nights to celebrate my birthday, and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. We paid for breakfast which was a bonus as we could eat then start our day exploring Cornwall on a fully belly. Breakfast was lovely, if you pre-book you have access to a continental breakfast as well as a cooked breakfast. Please note it’s a set breakfast menu and you can change items on the breakfast you just can’t build your own. ( we witnessed a customer who was Shockley rude to both member of staff as she wanted to build her own, they politely explained it was a set menu. But she wanted fresh fruit! Staff handled it very well I have to say) We asked for a room with a sea view and we weren’t disappointed. The rooms are dated but the hotel is also being renovated so I am sure once it’s completed it will be stunning. The room was clean and tidy. The shower was the most power-full shower I have ever used it was like a jet wash, it was fantastic! The housed keepers came in everyday and made the bed and topped up the tea and coffee items as well as the biscuits. The hotel room at night was lovely and warm a little too warm the 1st night and the bed was so soft it took some getting use to. All the staff we came across in the hotel or the bar were very friendly and chatty. I would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again.
