Guest Reviews
- Geir Ståle (10/5): Et eventyr av en plass - For et eventyr! Her bor du i et hotell som ble startet i 2002 etter at nonnene solgte klosteret. Derav navnet Sainte Chatherine. Veldig kjekt familie driver nå stedet. Sjarm i massevis. En herlig hage i atriumet som er en liten Oase. Oppholdet var verd hver krone. Fikk litt hipster stemning, eller kanskje var det litt eksentrisk. Uansett, her finner du roen og den gode stemningen
- Verified traveler (10/5): Highly recommended - Beautiful surroundings, perfectly kept snd very helpful staff, would love to return.
- Leeanda (10/5): - This was our favorite stay of our 10 day vacation. I felt like I was transported to Narnia, in this tucked away gem. The proprietor walked out to our car to show us where to park, upgraded our room, and was so thoughtful. Our room was so charming, the furnishings cozy and inviting. The bed was so comfy, the showers so hot. Breakfast was in the cutest nook, with amazing croissants, bread, jams, and juices. We lvex this place in the daytime when checking in but returning from walking to dinner and seeing the lights around the place was just magical.
- Bridget (10/5): - It’s the most beautiful and charming place I’ve ever stayed. It was like out of a fairytale.
- Anne (10/5): - Very charming room and location. Delicious breakfast. Architecture was beautifully restored 17th century.
- Jan (10/5): - Delightful and charming accommodation. Wonderful breakfast, well appointed and superbly clean room, fantastic staff. Marie is just amazing and works so hard to make your stay truly memorable. An unforgettable holiday. The garden and terrace area is excellent.
- Debi (10/5): Honfleur - Marie was so welcoming. Wonderful that the private parking was so close. Loved the grounds of the hotel and the breakfast was superb. Thank you for a wonderful stay!!
- Kerstin (10/5): - Wunderschöner Innenhof. Sehr individuell und geschmackvoll eingerichtete Räume. Charmante Gastgeber. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Jederzeit gerne wieder.
- Jessica (10/5): - Beautiful property. Quiet and serene. Easy to walk to harbor, shopping, restaurants. Delicious breakfast.
- Stephen (10/5): - Very enjoy stay. Breakfast was excellent and the staff were very pleasant.
- MIN KEE (8/5): - People are nice, and the room is kind of fairytail's room.
very cozy, but, stair is very stiff.
- gerald (8/5): A conseiller - Résidence pleine de charme. Chambre sous les toits très agréable. Pensez juste à gérer le chauffage dans la chambre. Salle de petit dej très très agréable et service souriant.
- Gillian (10/5): - Beautiful property - so much attention given to detail. Lovely garden to sit in and breakfast served in a beautifully arranged room. In a quiet area but quick walk to the port and restaurants.
- BERNARD (10/5): - Très bonne situation, calme.
Jardin très convivial, reposant. Très belle salle de petit déjeuner, décorée avec goût. Chambre spacieuse.
- Steven (10/5): - Stayed here for one night with my wife on our honeymoon. Great bed and breakfast with a beautiful garden. The room was spacious. The stay included a delicious breakfast, which you can eat at several tables in the gardens or inside in the breakfast room. The owner was really nice and made sure I had parking for our car even though we had not made reservations for the parking before hand. It is about a five minute walk from the B&B to the harbor and plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. Wish we would have stayed more than one night.
- Audrey (10/5): Week-end detente à 2 - Un endroit charmant, reposant, ideal pour visiter Honfleur. Petit-déjeuner au top. Accueil tres agréable.
- Patrick (10/5): - Trés calme, confortable et agréable.
Excellent accueil
- Elisabeth (10/5): - Accueil très sympathique.
- Anne (10/5): - The garden gave it a tranquil feel, the room an electric, creative fibe, and the breakfast was truly first class yummy. The bathroom could have used some soap, shampoo and conditioner.
- Jillian (10/5): - This place is just beautiful. So very old and characterful, tastefully equipped and comfortable. The owner was very helpful, friendly and welcoming. Location just out of the hustle and bustle of the town also excellent.
- Xavier (10/5): Honfleur escape :) - Normandy escape from East to West. During this stay in Honfleur, this is my second time in La Cour Sainte Catherine.
The Maison du Pêcheur contains all you can expect for a family stay. 2 big rooms and an extra leval for friends or kids.
Located in a very quiet area of the city, a few feets from the old wood church and canal, if you want to relax and feel good, stay there ;)
- Terry (10/5): Charming-zen-welcoming - Fabulous place. A zen garden absolutely perfect service, food, comfort, charm and fellow guests. I will come back!!!
- Lisa (6/5): A little disappointed - While the location, inner garden/courtyard and breakfast area were lovely, our overall impression was that this B&B was understaffed and service suffered for it. We stayed 2 nights and did not receive any housekeeping service at all. It was also difficult to find someone to settle our account at checkout as the only staffer on site was engaged with breakfast duties.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property’s location is superb, the staff is thoughtful and helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is an old apple processing complex. Our room on the second floor under the eaves was absolutely delightful and unique.
- RANDALL (10/5): Great option in Honfleur - Extraordinary place! wonderful garden, Stefan is awesome. some wifi issues but thats it. away from touristy part of town but walkable to everything.
- Michele (10/5): - This was the most enchanting place to stay. Loved the atmosphere. We wished we were staying longer than one night. The breakfast was amazing the best Crescents came to us straight from the oven. Only bummer was Hotels.com says they have laundry and we were planning to do laundry.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The whole property is charming. Our room was large and beautifully decorated. We loved the pretty garden courtyard and breakfast area. Altogether delightful. Our bathroom could have been cleaner...
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Such a unique beautiful property. Would loved to have stayed longer. Will recommend to friends and family!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Charming and rustic, located about 500 meters from the town square.
Lovely patio and helpful service. We were lucky to find a parking place right in front of the entry. We were there for one night only and got relegated to the 3rd floor which does not provide a garden vew. Also, no elevator so it was a relief the manager was able to manhandle our luggage up and down the stairs. The breakfast was not as nice as the other gites, hotels we stayed at in Normandy.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful property, well decorated, and lovely breakfast.
- Bob (10/5): - It is located in a quiet area in an old structure that is acceptability updated. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The courtyard is a pleasant place for morning breakfast and afternoon tea
iPhone users may wish to know that the WiFi password appears to be too long for your device. A windows machine had no such issue.
- Rodney (10/5): The real French experience - A first class accommodation in a beautiful place. Nothing more to be said.
- Jack (4/5): would not recoomend the place - Booked a garden view room, but was put into a room outside of the courtyard down the street with garbage disposal right in front of the front door. The room is dark, small and dated.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lotsa character but careful with your footing! - Charming converted 15th-16th century convent with loads of character and a very helpful staff. But not advised for anyone who has trouble with uneven steps, narrow circular stairs, and uneven floors. One room had low sloping ceilings that would not suit anyone over 5'2"! No A/C but fabulous water pressure in the shower. Tip: if you are tall, say so and specify that you need a large room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Splendid place to stay in Honfleur. Very convenient, beautiful surroundings and an excellent breakfast. I thoroughly recommend La CourSainteCatherine.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location. Great staff. Room large. Comfortable. Would recommend to anyone
- D (10/5): Wonderful room - Room was almost like a small apartment in great location.
- Greg (10/5): Wonderful Medieval Inn - Located in a medieval convent srrounding a planted garden, La Cour Ste Catherine lets you immerse yourself in the history of Honfleur La Cour is within walking distance of the sights to see in the town.
- Rebecca (10/5): A mix of ancient and quirky in Honfleur, France. - We spent our first night in France at La Cour Sainte Catherine. After visiting the lovely gardens of Giverny we headed to Honfleur, a bit jet lagged but completely mesmerized by the postcard beauty of Honfleur. We stepped through this wooden door that felt like we were stepping back in time to discover the 'secret' gate were La Cour Sainte Catherine stood just beyond a beautiful courtyard. The B&B is a converted convent and the most surprising thing is that as you walk through the ancient building, up the circular black steps (our room with just over the breakfast room) you enter into a very large, eclectic and quirky room. We loved it! Huge colorful room, modern bath, comfortable bed- wish we could have stayed more than just 1 night.
- Erin (10/5): Loved It! - Our stay in Honflour was amazing! When we arrived the staff was so helpful. They explained the best way to get to the parking garage and got us settled in our room. I was so grateful to have a place to park because the area has very limited parking. The room had so much character and was comfortable and pleasant. Breakfast the next morning was fantastic! The breakfast room is beautifully old and charming and the food was really good. The morning we were there they served an apple tart of some kind that was divine. We couldn't get over the charm of the neighborhood and the La Cour Saint Catherine!
- Denise (10/5): La Cour Sainte Catherine - Would definitely stay here again. Very nice people and the rooms were excellent. No elevator so you would need to be able to do stairs. But someone took my suitcase up to my room for me. It was much appreciated!!
- Michael (10/5): Cannot go wrong - Very large room with separate sitting area. Beautiful courtyard. Very elegant B&B. Safe part of town. The map makes the place appear a ways from the harbor but it feels like you're right there; maybe a three minute walk provided you don't get distracted at all the shops and cute houses along the way.
We would definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): An Oasis - A lovely garden ,, with availability of the kitchen for chilling wine and sitting and relaxing
Lovely room and welcoming staff.
It was a highlight of our travels.
- Peter (2/5): Beware, this is not a hotel! - When booking this place, in Expedia it was described as a hotel and I reserved a Suite for one night. When we turned up it turned out to be a small B&B and the Suite turned out to be a flat with a couple of bedrooms, a very small bathroom and a kitchen / living room. It would have been fine as cheap holiday flat / venue but was not what I had wanted to book. This place was completely miss-sold and incorrectly described.
If I had been on a business trip this place would have been totally inappropriate but as I was on holiday it was just very disappointing.
As we turned up at 7pm, under the cancellation terms we were committed to pay for this "room" and the owners were entitled to take the money from my credit card. We were not going to stay in this place and we left having paid in full and went to find another hotel (a proper one this time). As I speak fluent French and had a car I was able to do this easily but without these things it would have been much more difficult.
I have used Expedia many times in the past without ever having any problems but this is the first time that it has gone totally wrong. My advice to other Expedia users is double check what you are booking to make sure its actually what you are going to get.
- todd (8/5): 1 block from harbor - Great location, breakfast and lovely
Host. Stay here for the quintessential
Bnb experience
- Stephen (10/5): Wonderful Gem right in Honfleur - The room was very spacious, beautifully appointed and very comfortable. Despite being in the town centre, it is very secluded and quiet. Breakfast was tasty. Staff friendly
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely atmosphere, close to historic city center. - Honfleur is a charming little village where La Cour St. Catherine is located. The B&B is a former covent, retaining a rustic simplicity. Walking into the garden is like walking back into another time. Staff is friendly and welcoming, and goes all out to present a tasty breakfast for guests each morning. Local cider and cheeses, pastries and breads offer visitors a great start to the day.
- Charles (8/5): Perfect location, nice people, excellent breakfast - Very nice and charming B&B very well located for visiting Honfleur
- Verified traveler (10/5): Hospitality at its best - The owner, Liliane was very welcoming and her staff was wonderful as well. Delicious breakfast, great recommendations for restaurants.
- Mark (10/5): High value, wonderful stay. - Room was over 800 square feet. Bath had tub and rain shower. Double window opened out to nice garden area with seating. Breakfast room very comfortable, inviting with fire burning in fire place. Staff very helpful with excellent English. Highly recimmend Honfleur and this B&B.
- LR (4/5): - Nice courtyard and friendly staff. The steps to reach our attic was dangerous, let alone carrying a suitcase. Cleanliness left to be desired. Found it overpriced for what we got. Definitely not for everyone.
- Mike (8/5): Charming B&B on quaint street - This was a beautiful little hidden away place. This is the kind of place people should stay when they travel to a town like this - rather than a familiar chain hotel. The age and charm of this place really put us in the mood to enjoy the essence of Honfleur. Wish we could have stayed longer!
- Marguerite (10/5): Honfleur does not disappoint! - The owners were simply amazing. We were very, very late because of a flight delay, lost baggage, etc., and they waited up for us, made us feel welcome, etc., etc. As it was so late the first night, we grabbed a drink at The Vintage Cafe, just down the street (the only place open at 12:00 am!), and it was great too. I would definitely stay at La Cour again...my father's family was from Honfleur, so it meant a lot to me, but I would recommend it to anyone wanting to experience the charm of Normandy! Great Saturday market!
- Frederick (10/5): Vivela La France. - The welcome at the Hotel was excellent very helpful with parking arrangements. There is a very nice court yard where we relaxed and enjoyed a glass or two of cider. The breakfast room was enchanting typical French. Thank you so much for a delight full stay.
- happy traveller (10/5): Remarkably beautiful. An oasis in a lovely town. - The rooms are spacious and handsomely decorated. Every attempt is made to provide information on where to eat and visit etc. The garden which sits in the middle of the hotel is a sweet place to have a bottle of wine and sit surrounded by flowers and ancient, varied architecture. I was so pleasantly surprised by every aspect of the way the hotel is run that I'm almost afraid to recommend for fear it will be more difficult to reserve again.
- Ian (8/5): Beautiful & Charming B&B - A 3 night stay following a holiday in the Dordogne. Really enjoyed the charm of the B&B. And it's courtyard was beautiful and quiet so close to the centre of Honfleur.
Only downside was that we had booked a car parking space but were unable to use it as there was no room so had to park in the street which was not ideal.
- Ian (10/5): Excellent convenient Hotel - Warm welcome by friendly thoughtful staff, for whom nothing was too much trouble.
- Jeff (10/5): Charming hotel that is walking distance. - The staff was very friendly. The historic building was beautiful. The room was large. Breakfast was delicious. No complaints--except the roof beam was a little low if you are tall--never bonked my head though!
- Verified traveler (8/5): A change from a busy hotel - Arrived in pouring rain for overnight stay. We knew the area so were favourably disposed. Parking was (luckily) easy in free public space on the street next to main door.
- Stephen (8/5): Flowers, flowers, flowers - Few blocks from harbor, great breakfast, wonderful garden. Helpful staff.
- Faz (8/5): picturesque - I would definitely recommend this hotel, it has pretty rooms off a picturesque courtyard. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Convenient location for sightseeing in Honfleur.
- Daili (10/5): Very close to center. Great staff and breakfast. - Love the staff. Love Lilian who is warm, friendly and very helpful. There breakfast is fantastic. The location is ideal. The room is clean and comfortable. Love the place.
- Robin (10/5): It was great! - Kind and helpful staff. Beautiful setting. Comfortable accommodations. A real treat!
- Jay (8/5): - Great location near the center of town. Pretty, private courtyard. Delicious breakfast. Friendly and attentive staff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great room - large and comfortable. Beautiful place and an easy walk to downtown.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location, beautiful courtyard, lovely room, fine breakfast, all made for a marvelous stay in Honfleur.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful tranquil and home from home - The setting a few mins walk from the harbour is perfect and the quiet courtyard is so beautiful you could sit there for hours. Our room was very large and had a little kitchen and a lovely 'rainfall' shower. The bed was very comfy ( not too soft) and everything was very clean. The hotel owners were so friendly and helped us park our motorbike in a safe corner with much laughing over how big it was with all the luggage! They made us feel very welcome and let us check out late and stored our bike gear all day. The breakfast was yummy and the homemade cakes and jam are really good - so good we took 2 pots back with us!! I don't often leave reviews but this place is so special - you will not be disappointed.
- Robert (10/5): Fabulous base to explore Honfleur - A wonderful place to stay in pretty Honfleur. Just a few minutes walk from the hustle and crowds of the shops and the marina, this is an oasis of serenity and peace. Our room was large and lovely, looking out over the beautiful courtyard garden.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Interesting buildings, pretty gardens - We booked the room having read a lot of good reviews, lavishly praising the tranquil gardens and rooms. We booked a room. When we arrived we were shown to a two bedroom apartment on the outside of the building over a cafe, no explanation was given as to why we did not have a room, but we had also booked parking which was not available, but was on our bill, but removed when we checked out, so can only assume someone else had our room and parking. We did not get the benefit of sitting in the lovely garden and there was quite a bit of noise when the cafe was in use below us. The breakfast was good with fresh pastries but generally very disappointed as we did not get what we wanted and had two very steep crooked flights of stairs to cope with.
- Ann (10/5): Charming, quaint, delightful - You'd never know there is a lovely little hotel behind the wall and wooden door. But once you find it, you find a beautiful garden courtyard with a maze of charming houses that are the La Cour Sainte Catherine hotel. Our room was in the attic - a large, spacious, airy, light filled room. Windows looked over the garden in front and hillside homes in back.
The hotel is a short walk down to the main square and St. Catherine Church. It is also a nice hike away from Cote du Grace which offers stunning views of Honfleur, the bridge and La Havre.
Breakfast is served in most charming, farmhouse kind of room. Breakfast includes a pitcher of good, strong coffee, apple juice, French bread and cheese, croissants, and apple tarts.
Wifi wasn't working well, but it did work on and off. Parking is included, but we found a place on the street just a few steps away. They have limited check in hours.
We were delighted with our stay here. We felt like we were vacationing even when we were in the room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great little family hotel - This was a perfect place for our family we had two rooms for five of us. The rooms are bright and spacious. The beds are very comfortable and the shower was superb. We loved breakfast with the local apple specialties and warm croissants. We would definitely go back again.
