The facilities were high standard and the location was central. 4 flights of stairs to our room which I struggled with. I believe you can request a lower floor but at the time of booking, I did not have a mobility problem.

- Emily (9/5): PERFECT location in a beautiful historic heritage hotel! - Perfect location! Historical heritage building so there is no elevator which I preferred about the building. Reminded me of Europe! Rooms are uniquely designed. Easy check-in and check-out process with helpful staff. Parking on site. Nespresso machine in room. I love the automated system of checking in but it would of been nice to have a receptionist at the desk for when you have questions or need items. For example one of the the nespresso pods provided had been used, and if someone was at the desk i would of asked for a replacement but I didnt want to hassle of having to coordinate someone coming to our room while we werent there.

- marinargubler (4/5): Not Recommended - The best thing about this hotel is the location and because of that it is the only reason we give it 2 stars. It is on the same street as the famous hotel, Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. The location is very walkable in good weather, not so much in bad weather. Sidewalks get icy but the roads are treated quickly with salt. Let’s start by trying to check in. The hotel sent us the wrong code to access the building and our room. Between the two outside doors, there is a digital pad and old school lock box. No where in their directions do they mention to use the digital pad to enter the 4 digit code. It would have helped if the code they sent actually worked. Luckily another guest let us in the lobby but we had to call the hotel once we got upstairs to our room since the code they gave us did not work. Not a great first impression. The parking lot which can fit 5 cars is not maintained what so ever in winter. It was dangerously slippery on the ice and needed to be sanded or salted. My husband fell trying to get to the car, so we contacted the hotel and requested they put sand or salt down, they said they would, well after 2 hours they never did. No one is actually on site to ensure guests safety! The parking spots were very tight, so much so where we had to crawl out the trunk since we couldn’t open our side doors. Avoid spot 1 which is next to the trash bins, there is no room during the winter since they don’t shovel and the bins exceed into the parking space. It might be okay during the summer but really a terrible parking scenario in winter. Would not advise anyone spending money on the parking here, you’re better off in a nearby garage. This is not worth $28.74 per day for parking, including fees. As for the room, it was a good size. It had character and held true to the time period inside and out. Although in order to maintain character, there needs to be maintenance. There was joint compound slapped on the wall to cover damage in three places in room 23, none of that was sanded, primed or painted. Water stains were prevalent on the antique wooden furniture, and the trim work needed repair. The owners should have pride in preserving the history of the building, including the rooms and fix things properly when needed. Finally, it is worth to mention that since no one is actually on site to help you or to treat the sidewalks or parking lot in icy conditions but you will receive daily automated texts. What a low effort, impersonal way to check on guests when they should really hire someone to be present. How many reviews does this hotel need in order to change? Many guests do not like that it’s contactless. We gave it a try but never again. Also it’s ridiculous that we got an automated text the day of our check out when we already informed staff we were checking out a day early. Apparently there is a check out procedure we have follow online? This hotel really set a low bar for hospitality. Would never stay at a this hotel or a contactless hotel again and would strongly advise others to look at all the other hotels nearby instead of staying at this one.

- karine (9/5): Magnifique séjour j’ai couché 2 nuits. - J’ai adoré l’établissement vraiment un beau cachet. Les chambres sont superbes. Le lit était très confortable. Le bruit à l’extérieur mais c’est normal se sont de vieux bâtiments . Cela ne m’a pas empêché de passer un beau moment dans ma chambre. Je recommande et c’est certain que je vais y retourner.

- bigblank (7/5): Cozy room, but prefer humans to contactless - Our room was very cute and cozy, and being on the top floor was fairly quiet. The decor was nice. I liked the boot/slipper cubbies in the foyer (it seemed optional, but it was helpful not to deal with slushy boots in our room—bring slippers!). The location was great- a historic block in the middle of everything. The virtual/contactless reception and self-check-in were not my cup of tea. I thought it made the common areas feel weird and not particularly welcoming. We weren’t the only ones who could have used some help settling in. There was an error with our room code, and we met other guests who were confused about how things worked, including a couple who couldn’t figure out which room was theirs, so tried ours until I opened the door. I know the endless slush and snow make it hard, but the foyer area was dingy. The Wi-Fi on the 4th floor was weak, so I wound up using my hotspot.

La première chambre était en cours de rénovation et n’avait pas été nettoyé. Heureusement que nous avons été surclassé sans frais additionnel. Le tapis de la chambre avait plusieurs taches. Nous n’avons jamais circulé sans pantoufles.

The traditional design of the place really stood out and gave it a unique charm. The staff were very helpful, especially with our luggage. They assisted us in bringing everything up to the 4th floor, which we truly appreciated. Moreover, they respond almost immediately when we message them about our concerns and questions. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. The design felt chic and vintage, adding to the overall character of the stay. The location is amazing! It’s within walking distance of nearby restaurants and most attractions. In fact, I’d say it has one of the best hotel locations in the area. That was one of the main reasons we chose to book this place, especially considering the reasonable cost. There was a lack of coffee refills during our stay. One morning, I went to the 3rd floor to get a refill, but it was empty. The staff responded right away when we informed them, which we appreciated. However, it took quite a while for the refills to arrive, and we ended up starting our day later than planned. Another inconvenience was the absence of a kettle in the room. The only option available was the coffee machine, which isn’t ideal if you want to prepare tea, ramen, or oatmeal. We had to use hot water from the coffee machine instead, which wasn’t very convenient. Regarding the amenities, the shampoo (which includes conditioner) didn’t work well for me. It left my hair feeling dry and tangled. Lastly, since there is no elevator, we needed assistance bringing our luggage downstairs. Unfortunately, the staff member who helped us seemed unwilling and did not greet us. Her body language made us feel like we were inconveniencing her. I even helped carry some of the luggage because I felt uncomfortable asking for more help, despite recently recovering from a muscle sprain. Afterward, she walked away without acknowledgment when I tried to thank her. It’s unfortunate because other staff members we encountered especially those who helped us on our first day were very kind and accommodating. I hope the hotel can provide more consistent service across all staff members.

- Annie (5/5): LESS than meets the eye - I was freezing all night. No extra blankets provided in the room. Hydromassage bath was broken... Stunning decor, darkening shades and curtains were a game changer! Very comfortable bed and pillows. Toilet paper is thinner than a silk sheet used for wrapping gifts. We had to go out to buy a bottle opener for our hydromel even though wine glasses are provided… There was a miscommunication and the staff wasn’t aware we were checking in early. Someone walked in on us in our underwear! And she just stayed there and kept justifying herself instead of leaving. I know my man’s hot but get the f out esti.

- 8ihp4xnd8c (10/5): Wonderful Homey Stay - Wonderful Homey place to stay, easy to check in and out on phone, easy to reach out and contact to have questions answered. Room is clean with wonderful bath, building is a short walk to many shops and restaurants, would definitely stay again!

- Kim (8/5): A wonderful stay in the beautiful & magical Old Quebec City that was decked out in it’s finest festive attire 🎄 - I loved the location & the beauty of the heritage building. It’s high ceilings & large tall windows added to the grandeur of the rooms. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas. It was clean & comfortable. The staff were friendly & helpful. I had a late flight so was able to store my luggage on site until leaving for the airport. I did have a couple issues with the code, but a call to the operator & it was quickly resolved. The front entrance door is heavy so be prepared to navigate your luggage in to the building. Fortunately 2 young men were walking by & offered to assist with my luggage ❤️

- Marie-Josée (4/5): Difficile - L’emplacement et la bâtisse ancestrale. La chambre était tellement surchauffée, c’était presque insupportable. Nous avons très mal dormi et je n’ai pas vu aucun contrôle pour le chauffage. Il s’agit d’un vieux système de chauffage à eau. C’est joli mais ça ne s’adapte pas aux véritables besoins de chauffage. Il devait faire 28 degrés dans la chambre! Aussi les oreillers étaient énormes et très durs. Il n’y avait pas d’autres oreillers plus petits dans la chambre. J’étais heureuse de ne rester qu’une nuit.

Helpful staff. The room was drafty, but this is to be expected - it's a very old building. The height of the bed was too high for me - I'm 5'2" and could have used a step stool.

- 5uq6inxned (2/5): Disappointed - If you want a complete self serve hotel this is the place. There is no one onsite to help guests. According to their phone support rooms are only checked/cleaned every two days. During a five day stay y room was never cleaned: bed was never made, waste baskets never emptied unless requested, dirty floor was only barely wiped on request. In general the property was not well maintained. It has a good location and could be a charming place to stay if the management/owners put in the effort.

- Joanna (9/5): We really loved this hotel and would stay here again! - Communication by text was easy, staff were really wonderful, the room was old and very lovely, the location was excellent! I hate sweeping so for me to say this is really something…I don’t think the room has been swept for weeks, particularly under the bed. And it was great that the room is cleaned only every second day—so much better for the environment—but it’d be nice to have the complimentary toiletries replenished on that second day. None of this would keep me from staying here again though, as the hotel itself and the staff we communicated with were wonderful!

- Kim (4/5): Unfortunate - I loved the location. The room was also lovely. Staff communicated frequently. One afternoon I came back to rest. Someone was knocking on my door. A lot. I opened it and a large man was standing there with papers. I said no thank you and closed the door. He would not leave and continued to knock saying “2 minutes” please. He incessantly knocked so I began to yell at him to leave immediately. I contacted the staff on booking.com and they did respond that they were sending someone right over. At this point despite having the chain locked I was about to grab the lamp just in case. I was legitimately scared. Another person comes and actually opens my door. It was someone from the hotel. Turns out the first man worked for the hotel and was giving out review papers with QR codes. Couldn’t this have been left outside my door? Couldn’t I have been told this? Instead of the constant nonstop knocking on my door scaring me. In a hotel without a front desk, and no one monitoring who comes and goes no one but cleaning staff should be anywhere in the building. Had he left right away I wouldn’t have been bothered at all. I truly thought he was from the street and just happened to get in. Possibly this was just an unfortunate situation but the hotel should have better practices to make sure guests feel safe. I would think twice about booking a non-staffed hotel (which I have done many times in the past). The hotel itself is lovely and convenient but this made me feel uncomfortable for the next day and night I stayed there.

- Denise (10/5): The room was beautiful and comfortable with extra seating at a small table. I was glad we chose the downstairs room. It - It was conveniently located with a coffee shop across the street. A short walk down the street and we passed several restaurants, and the beautiful Chateau. Around the park we found the bus for our city and falls tour. Also the funicular (bring cash) led us down to the Petite Champlain. I could not get the espresso machine to work and we could not find any TV channels in English.
