- Felicia (4/5): Need to work on the service - Checked in the room had flying mosquitos etc all in the room had to buy bug spray. The kitchenette ate was not cleaned at all. I had to spray for the ant insects. Nightlife and scenery is okay. We arrived no towels, soap was given. Second night no WiFi at all so if you looking for comfort not the place. Service is not that great. For the price they should atleast make sure the room is stocked with things every guest should have if this place is a resort.

- D834DJsharonb (10/5): Get Ready to FULLJOY Yaself! - I’ve stayed at Roots Bamboo 3 years in row and I love it! First of all I feel like I’m staying with GOOD family when I’m there. The owners really make you feel so welcome when you arrive. They’re so helpful and go the extra mile to make you feel comfortable. I arrived the day before Hurricane Beryl and the owners left their homes in another Parish to ride out the storm with their guests. The staff members are fantastic and they remember you by name. Some have worked together for a long time so the camaraderie is genuine and fun. The rooms are clean and lack nothing. You’re less than 30 seconds from the beach no matter which room you stay in. There’s live music playing 3 times a week so everything you want is right at your finger tips. It’s better than staying at an all-inclusive because you get the real Jamaican experience. We stayed at RIU in 2022 but came running down to Roots just to hang out at the beach in the day and great music in the night time. I came back for 25 days in 2023 and the entire month of July in 2024! Roots Bamboo has my heart- not just because it’s the best piece of real estate on 7 Mile but also because the Management team and the staff really give you a great customer experience! They also have a bar and a restaurant with great food if you ever just to treat yourself to a day at the beach! Tell Ms. Denise ‘Sharon says Hi!’ I just love Her and once you check into her resort you’ll know why too!
- Jamaicalov (2/5): prostitute or gigolo - If your a first timer is Jamaica this place might be good for a night or 2, But as a foreigner living in Jamaica this place is HORRIBLE, walk in go to the bar order a drink and get charged $15-$20 USD per drink. If that is not bad enough the drink come in a small plastic cup filled with ice, very low class place trying to overcharge their patrons. While your trying to get an overpriced drink at the bar you will either first be greeted with a Prostitute or Gigolo on either side of you trying to sell sexual favors, if that doesn't work then they will beg you for a cigarette or some change. Next after you get your overpriced drink with an attitude you walk over to the beach to listen to some music that will surely put you to sleep, then a beach bum will come up to you and beg you for some money or anything you might have, so you will try to finish your drink while listening to the same people who play the same songs 3 days a week, This place has the worst customer service and DONT know how to treat tourist and they really don't care either, thats the sad part. the people running the place look at tourist and their hard earned money with contempt. this happens right in front of them everyday and they thinks its normal. Avoid this place and go to boardwalk other establishments on that side of the beach.
- Jennifer (10/5): - I have always loved Roots Bamboo. I really appreciate the upgrades and new amenities to the property.
- Dr Randy S (6/5): - Internet access poor.
- timjQ7707NE (10/5): Great place to relax on the beach - If you want a fancy place this isn't it, but if you want a simple room, clean, steps from the beach, in a great location, run by good people then Roots is for you. It's a good time and the Reggae nights are awesome. Bonus, they have the friendliest hotel cats ever.
- nigel (8/5): - The property is centrally located on the 7mules beach. All staff members were professional and friendly. A good place to stay if you are looking for a hassle free stay in the beach.
- nigel (8/5): - The staff and facilities were excellent.
- nigel (6/5): - Facilities good but the early morning barking dogs are
Annoying and disturbing
- Dan (10/5): Great place to enjoy Negril! - Great music, newly remodeled rooms, helpful friendly staff!!
- Alvin (10/5): - Everything I want and close. Excellent food from the restaurant. Going back next year.
- Peter (10/5): - This is a reasonably priced, comfortable and quiet resort centrally located in Negril and directly on the beach. My room on the upper level was recently renovated and was clean and spacious. The room had a comfortable bed, efficient air conditioning, ample closet space, a safety deposit box and wall mounted TV. In addition, it included a kitchenette with microwave, fridge, stove and kitchen sink. The bathroom had a walk in shower and was spacious. There was plenty of free on site parking for my rent a car. Resort staff was courteous and professional. The restaurant at the resort served delicious meals and the beach area was well maintained. I would definitely stay here again when in Negril.
- Willie (10/5): - Good !
- michele (10/5): Comfortable stay - The place had everything I needed refrigerator sink and two beds. Also had a spacious bathroom.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Great location
- Murray (8/5): - No room available apon arrival but removed someone to accommodate
- veronica (10/5): - My stay is always awesome at Roots. If u like live reggae it doesnt get better then this location. Friendly and caring staff!
- Sharon (10/5): - My sister and I stayed for a week!
Ms Denise and her staff were most excellent in meeting all of our needs. So courteous and helpful, ALWAYS with a smile.
Cottage was very clean, bed was comfy with clean crisp sheets! Kitchenette with a fridge, was a nice addition! We were just a short walk (one minute) from the beach.
A shower area where ww could rinse off after the beach.
The garden areas were always being groomed.
And our room had air conditioning, I believe they all do.
Thank you Denise and your staff for making our stay the best!!
I cannot recommend this gem enough!
- Adrian (10/5): - To All my Extended family at Roots Bamboo.I absolutely love Roots Bamboo. My second home, my healing space and the staff is my extended family forever…Thank you Miya and June for making my birthday so special the room was decorated so beautifully! I love you guys to the moon and back.
Judene thank you for being so sweet and kind to me all the time and Lincoln you are my brother from another until the end. Soon Come!! ❤️❤️
- Elaine (10/5): - Centrally located on SMB with easy access to all. I had a comfy stay and a great experience, especially in the modern upper level apt. I enjoyed the nighttime live music.
Staff was very personable and quite responsive. Special mention to Ravel and Theo. See you soon!
- Kazumi (10/5): - great view great vibes!
- Randy (8/5): - Generally my stay was good especially for the price. I’d go again
- Lorraine (2/5): - We paid in full for a room with a kitchen but got the cheapest room they had which was worth $25 canadian but expedia charged us $158
This place is literally a dump!!
- Capt Robert (4/5): Capt Bob's TAKE - Housekeeping was understaffed but the owner went out of his way for us. Inexpensive oceanfront hotel. Real good value considering its location!!!☺️
- Adrian (10/5): - A safe place to call your second home.
- 420amie (10/5): Roots Bamboo feels like home away from home - Roots Bamboo is the place to be if you enjoy live reggae music and good vibes! The staff is friendly and welcoming and makes you feel like part of the family. As a solo female traveler, they made sure to check on me regularly and wanted to help me with anything I needed. I will definitely be back to stay at Roots Bamboo again soon! One love…
- Marlon (10/5): - I love visiting family in Jamaica, but when i need to get away from them, i always go to Roots Bamboo
- Christopher (4/5): - Room was a shack. No security, anyone can walk right up to your room. Bar and resraurant/hotel are separate neither is anybgood.
- Ann Marie (8/5): - Nothing fancy here however it’s very clean and comfortable and friendly staff. The beach area was not kept there was a lot of seaweed which should have been clean to give the beach area a better appearance instead of looking dirty.
- Dream271958 (2/5): What A Dump - If you want to hang out with the skeeziest people in Negril, go to Roots Bamboo. If you want a prostitute to proposition you while you try to use the men's room, go to Roots Bamboo. If you want to pay $16 for a plastic cup of vodka tonic, go to Roots Bamboo. Of course, another "waiter/bartender" may only charge you $8. Besides the cool entertainment, this place is an absolute dive. We've been there twice and both times ended up with our pi**ed off group of friends leaving early. I can't believe people actually pay to sleep here. Pretty scary.
- William (10/5): - Live music on wednesdays and fridays to good time for all
- William (10/5): - Love roots bamboo.
Ben here many times will always come back
- Nigel (8/5): - My stay was good. My only issue is that I didn't have time to wait for the Jamaican style breakfast, which is made to order.
- zackinap (10/5): The Perfect Stay at Roots Bamboo Negril! - Enjoyed everything about my stay. I felt safe, staff was very friendly...Ms Opia was professional and kind. The breakfast was delicious. Very clean room and the location was everything.Highly Recommend!!!
- keithedson (8/5): Budget accomadation beachfront - The rooms at roots bamboo are as to be expected basic. The shower pressure is good, the fridge is cold. Good size room with a decent covered porch to the front. There are no self catering facilities but bar and resterant on the premises. Staff friendly and wifi great reaching all the way to the waterfront. Firstly do your reserch and ensure Negril beach is the place you want to stay. Yes noise at nights from roots and neighbouring bar but this not unexpected.
- Kellie (8/5): - Walk ways were slippery with moss. Cottage style rooms with slat windows. Because of this, there's not much privacy.
- Kim (10/5): Best customer service in Jamaica, Ravel! - The service by Ravel was the best part. His custom service is unmatched in all of my frequent travels to JAMAICA!!! We had six rooms of friends and family and were well satisfied. We will be back!! The music was great, the sax player Richard was amazing my husband and I enjoyed!
- nigel (8/5): - The front desk staff and dining area staff were very professional.
- Discover38437599747 (2/5): AVOID AT ALL COSTS - I PAID FOR 14 NIGHTS I SUFFERED THRU 1 NIGHT AND MOVED TO ANOTHER HOTEL ROOTS BAMBOO SENT ME AN EMAIL SAYING THEY WILL CHARGE ME FOR 2 NIGHTS AND REFUND 12 NIGHTS ROOTS BAMBOO THEN REFUSED TO REFUND ANYTHING AND CHARGED ME FOR 14 NIGHTS There is extensive construction noise and dust the rooms are dark and dreary the wifi stinks it took me an hour to get online to try to cancel the booking do not book here choose anither hotel
- Dr Randy S (8/5): - The staff was pleasant and friendly. I would definitely stay here again.
- Darrick (8/5): - Cosy environment
- Adrian (10/5): - My second go around and I absolutely will be returning. I love how attentive the staff is. Great party area and the food is off the chain.
- Darren (10/5): - Immersed in culture, Roots Bamboo gives an experience you just can't get anywhere else. The live music, excellent service, and proximity to the beach are truly unequaled.
- Clayton (4/5): - The rooms were lacking even basic maintenance such as changing light bulbs.
- Shari (10/5): - Quaint, clean & friendly staff! Band nights noisy but would not stop us from coming again.
- Micky (8/5): - Small shady beach. Too small of a beach. All chairs taken up by early morning 😳
- Verified traveler (8/5): Intimate chill spot - It was a nice spot to spend a night. Some of the rooms looks like little houses with a veranda. Small paths that lead through the bar/restaurant to the beach. I loved the live entertainment and being right across the street from a club. The only downfall is the mosquitoes in the room.
- Louise (8/5): - People were friendly and polite .. Just a bit pricey when the Wi-Fi wasn’t able to
Connect … so that was very disappointing to be honest
- Gina (10/5): - Check in with Revel was awesome! Super friendly and personable. Staff approved a later check out, and the bed was super comfy.
- Steven Joseph (8/5): - Good
- Jody (6/5): - it was ok
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I like the proximity to the beach.
- Adrian (6/5): - The property need to be renovated. The ants was horrible. Floors was slippery do to leaks from toilet and kitchen sink. I made the best out of it. Over all entertainment, food and staff was on point.
- Dr Randy S (8/5): - I enjoyed the music venue at the property.
- Steven Joseph (8/5): - I frills
- Vinroy (6/5): - Needs modernizing
- Felicia (4/5): - Very dated rooms. There were lots of ants in the room and there were no other rooms were available. We moved to another hotel.
- topwaterjig (10/5): Roots Rock and Reggae - WOW!!! A great place to see Famous Reggae artists. Dance on the beach barefoot. The restaurant is a bit expensive and the wait staff could be more friendly. The restaurant refuses to alter anything on the menu. So if you have food allergies, good luck. Bob and Denise are the bomb!
- Kara (4/5): - The night office staff/ security was very rude.
- Cathy (10/5): - Our home away from home.
- Q2588BKpedrop (2/5): Terrible customer service! - This hotel has terrible customer service, I would not recommend staying here, most of the people working there are extremely rude, with so many options in Negril I do not see any reason to recommend this place.
- Escape495963 (2/5): Very unwelcoming! DO NOT STAY HERE! - The owner of this hotel is extremely unwelcoming, there are many options for accomodations in Negril, this is not a good one; the staff is rude and feels entitled to speak to you in a disrespectful manner.
- Aloma (6/5): - Stayed at Roots in the early 2000's the first time and it was nice. Went back this year and things have changed. The place itself is the same but lots of hustlers walking by rooms daily trying to get you to buy many things , nice and bad. Employees were very nice and helpful. Bartenders at night charge what they want.
- Quest371357 (4/5): Last and First Stay Roots Bamboo - Dates of travel 12/25/21 - 1/5/22 - Services/ Wi-FI was shotty, A/C cut off by staff from the breaker box, A/C leaked, No face towels given. Cleaning staff doesn't like to clean. Daily went to front desk area to make a phone call and use electronic devices. Cats everywhere a cat was called by a front desk rep. The cat came to me and I dropped everything in my hand and my phone broke. Personnel staff did not offer to fix or pay for repairs after all the desk clerk called the cat. And they still wanted full price no offer whatsoever about my phone. Staff friendly for the most part. I will not do another mom and pop resort again in Negril. Unhappy no consistency in price. Everyone is charged a different price. I am a dog lover.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Low key,
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The property as a whole was very quaint and beautiful. We decided to stay one night in Negril during our weeklong stay in Montego Bay. The beach was beautiful and we enjoyed an extremely delicious dinner at the bar/restaurant. HOWEVER, there was no working air conditioning in our room. That would’ve been fine as the ceiling fan kept it cool-ish, except the noise from other guests and the ridiculous noise from cats fighting ALL NIGHT, made it impossible to get any sleep. Would recommend going there for dinner, drinks, and the beach, but sleeping somewhere else.
- Brittany (8/5): - It’s a cute beach side hotel with individual cabins. Check-in was quick, the room was clean, the water in the bathroom was hot, and the mattresses were comfy. Only real complaint was that the WiFi was spotty but if you walked around you could pick up a signal. I’d stay here again.
- Mark (8/5): - The property is in a great location in the middle of 7 mile beach. Several great restaurants and bars are within a short walk. The rooms were very basic which is all we needed. My only complaint is that when we booked the site listed AC and we only had a ceiling fan. This wasn't a problem at night in March, but it would be in the hot humid months.
- FuddLover (4/5): Great location @ the beach! - Location is the huge plus, at the middle of 7 mile beach in Negril. No need to worry about the spot and chair at beach. Close to famous Alfreds Restaurant and my favorite Kamaras Restaurant. Very basic resort. Needs improvement. Lack of basic toiletries. Good choice if you do not care much about toiletries and comfort. Overpriced foods. Though, staffs were very attentive.
- Amy (10/5): Roots Bamoo - Roots Bamboo consists of simple cottages and is great for couples on a budget. The beach is beautiful and the cafe offerings are delicious. A wonderful stay!
- Shawn (10/5): - I liked all of it. Hope to stay there next February
- Verified traveler (6/5): Low budget accommodations - The WiFi did not work in the room. There was no AC. Our room was right by the bar so couldn’t go to sleep until the concert ended at 1am. Toilet didn’t flush well. Window shutters didn’t open/close well. Not so friendly/helpful staff but neighbors and other guests were nice. Live music. The room (while small) was clean. Cheap price so get what you pay for.
- DP (8/5): - Very basic hotel. No amenities at all. Everything overpriced.
- Keri (8/5): Relaxed vibes - We had a fantastic time at Roots Bamboo. Prepare for a lot of action when you stay here! We enjoyed every minute.
- CherylM300 (10/5): Cheryl - Warm and welcoming is Roots Bamboo situated on Seven Mike Beach Negril Jamaica. The cozy little beach resort offers a menu of delicious local foods and bar with yummy delicious drinks. Brand new lounge chairs for relaxing all day long on the sunny beach. Very attentive staff like family. My second stay and l would choose this Roots Bamboo establishment over and over again! 🌴
- Kali (10/5): - We had an amazing stay at this resort. The staff were extremely wonderful, helpful, polite, and attentive! We really felt the love and connection with the people of Jamaica and will be back. Would also recommend to anyone wanting a lovely, authentic Jamaican experience in Negril! ❤️ Respect 👊
- eileendaym (6/5): They need to improve their sound system - Roots Bamboo gets 3 stars for getting good names and having the potential to have great shows. But their sound system hurts the ears and their DJ/MC doesn't sound good through it at all! Hope they can upgrade soon!
- Sarah (8/5): - No face towels in our room
- christinadY1776ZE (10/5): ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL - located on the beach right in the middle of 7 mile beach. the only delima we had was which direction to go each morning. Short walk into town too. Everyone was so freindly. Once they have tried to peddled their wares and you decline, they will remember you and not bother you again. Will definately go back.
