• Thodoros (6/5): A mixed experience - It's a repurposed jail, which is something unique and fun! Clearly thought has been put into it, to preserve the original character while offering a nice experience. The location is also great, right at the centre of Ottawa, and most of the staff were super pleasant to engage with. Wi-Fi was good. I enjoyed the tour of the place, our guide was excellent! There were some issues during my stay. The washing machine was broken (for quite some time), which is a major inconvenience when traveling light. After a couple of days it should have been taken care of, not just dismissed by saying I can go into the city to do my laundry. Another thing was the lack of toilets, on my floor I only had access to 2 of them, one in the dorm room (that housed 10 people) and another in the common bathroom (available for 3 different dorm rooms). These are clearly not enough for so many people, and large queues were forming. Breakfast is free but it's forgettable. I'm not sure if I'd stay here again, maybe it's better to just have the tour while staying somewhere else.

• Shin (9/5): A very cool place to stay that has an interesting history. - The location of the hostel is fantastic - a few minutes to the Rideau Centre, the Byward Market, the transportation, etc. The staff were friendly and helpful, and great choice at breakfast. Tours of the hostel were given frequently, and overall, a great place to be. :) Bathrooms/showers - the floor I was on lacked a sufficient number of toilets and showers for the number of people on the floor.

• Minnie (7/5): Amazing facilities, but needs some slightly better sound insulation between side-by-side rooms. - Learning about its history was amazing!! But in general, everything was clean and easy to access (showers, washrooms, kitchen). We had a big issue with noise past midnight. For some reason, there’s a small hole connecting side-by-side double rooms, which meant we could literally hear EVERYTHING from an incoming group that did not realize the sound was a problem… it would be awesome if that small hole (possibly for cables?) could be closed up or insulated better to avoid this issue in the future!
• Annabelle (8/5): On y va pour l'expérience - Bon rapport qualité-prix. Très bien situé, tout peut se faire à distance de marche. Suffisamment de choix au petit-déjeuner pour être sustenté. Les salles de bain et douches communes sont grandes et propres. Hébergement intéressant qui sort de l'ordinaire. On y va pour l'expérience et c'est parfait pour un court séjour! Vu l'ancienne utilisation du bâtiment et son architecture, les lieux sont un peu bruyants. Il faut le savoir avant de réserver mais on nous fournit les bouchons d'oreille.

Das kostenlose Frühstück ist nichts besonderes aber man wird auf jeden Fall satt. Leider gibt es wenig Badezimmer und vorallem Waschbecken. Leider sind die duschen zudem schlecht ausgestattet: es fehlen Harken oder Ablage Flächen für alles.

• Michael (9/5): Adequate and convenient. - Perfect location, friendly staff. Wholemeal sliced bread should be provided as part of the breakfast buffet, as well as/instead of bagels. There should be tourist maps of the city available, and also a city map should be on the wall on the ground floor.

• Arnold1111 (10/5): Best Jail Stay We've Ever Had - Great place to stay, quirky, super clean and comfortable. The Jail had so many original features and info boards about hiw the jail functioned. We had a double cell, which had a small corner table and 2 bedside shelves. We thought it might be noisy at night, but it wasn't, just a little street noise from the road outside. Our stay included breakfast which included hot and cold options. Would highly recommend staying,

• Nibia Cardoso (8/5): Excelentes espaços e localização, mas reservas de grupos podem atrapalhar a experiência dos demais - A localização é ótima pra quem vem de ônibus com parada na Universidade de Ottawa e é possível ir as principais atrações a pé. O tour interno é muito legal, já que o espaço era uma prisão. O café também é muito bom, a cozinha bem espaçosa, organizada, com cestinhas para cada um guardar suas coisas na geladeira. Nao utilizei mas achei excelente a estrutura de home office la, inclusive com salas privadas para reunioes. Os boxes para banho eram de inox, bastante limpos. O hostel não tem elevador e me colocaram no 9o andar, prometendo que assim que tivesse vaga em outros andares, me realocariam, mas nunca mais sequer falaram comigo. Fica a seu cargo ficar cobrando. Eles nao explicam que equivale a 5o andar. Mas mesmo assim pode ser cansativo com malas e se você esqueceu algo e precisa subir de novo pra buscar. Meu quarto tinha só uma pia. O banheiro era fora, no mesmo andar. Porém o box pra banho era so no 8o andar. Entao você precisa se deslocar de um andar pro outro. Importante ressaltar que eles recebem grupos de criancas em excursões, o que pode ser incômodo pelo barulho e pela falta de respeito ao espaço coletivo por esses grupos, que atrapalham a passagem, ocupam mesas da cozinha e ficam fazendo comunicações ao grupo dentro da area de refeicoes e escadas, o que atrapalha demais hospedes. Especialmente se você estiver nessa area trabalhando remoto. Também recebem grupos de adultos que infelizmente nao respeitam o horário de silencio e chegam tarde ao quarto acendendo luz e falando alto como se o espaço fosse só deles. A cozinha e area de refeicoes é bem grande. Porem não há excelente exaustão. Só por estar la no horário do cafe da manhã, minhas rouoas ficaram cheirando a gordura. Os armarios/lockers do quarto tinham tamanhos diferentes para cada cama. Voce pode dar a sorte ou o azar de nao caber sua mala. Nos boxes do banheiro poderiam ter lixeiras, pois ignoram que mulheres precisam descartar absorventes e que o banheior com vaso sanitário é distante em outro lugar.

• Cassandre (10/5): Super expérience, excellent séjour - J’ai apprécié faire l’expérience de dormir dans une ancienne prison pendant 2 nuits. J’ai pris un lit dans un dortoir de 10 lits et, agréable surprise, cela s’avère en fait être 2 lits superposés dans une cellule ce qui apporte plus de confort. Les dortoirs et les douches étaient propres, le matelas confortable, les draps propres. Le petit déjeuner est bon et rien ne vient à manquer même approchant la fin du service. Mention spéciale pour le personne vraiment très accueillant et sympa.

• Margarida (7/5): Original place to stay - It’s an original space, it’s was a pity we didn’t have time to do the tour to learn a bit more about it’s history. The breakfast. When we arrive there wasn’t much left to eat and the staff informed they didn’t have food to refill. He said “this is first come first served based”… it’s a pity no one informed us at the check-in. So we paid for a breakfast that wasn’t available almost 1 hour before closure!!!

• Anne (7/5): Sjov oplevelse! Men meget lydt, gæsterne respekterer ikke stilletiden, celledørene lukker med et brag og holder en vågen - Sjov oplevelse! Gode senge. Rene fælles faciliteter. God rundvisning. Gulvene kunne godt trænge til en vask, de er klistrede. Der er meget lydt, og man kan høre alt. Gæsterne er ikke gode til at respektere stilletiden. Celledørene kan ikke lukkes uden et brag, hvilket vækkede mig 7-8 gange i løbet af natten. Så forvent ikke meget søvn.

It is very convenient for visiting Ottawa's main attractions and the University of Ottawa, which is wonderful for anyone attending a conference. The hostel offers daily tours of the jail in both English and French. I attended two sessions, and both were excellent. I was deeply moved by the patience and kindness of the tour guides and all the front desk staff. Even though our interactions were brief, I always left feeling happy because they were so warm and friendly. If I had more time, I would have loved to chat with them more (without interrupting their work, of course). The beds were also very comfortable. Since the building was converted from an old prison, every door is actually open at both the top and the bottom. As a result, there is almost no soundproofing at all. I could clearly hear people snoring or talking in the other rooms. However, I can sleep even when there is noise, so I did not actually mind it that much. Additionally, having to go up and down the stairs to borrow a hair dryer is a bit of a hassle. It would be much more convenient if there were a common area where hair dryers were fixed in place for everyone to use.

• stephen (7/5): I would really really really recommend people to stay at this hostel, but only if they book a single room or a double. G - It’s a great novelty staying in a jail. The single and double rooms are great to stay in. Staff very very friendly really would recommend it to anyone. I had only one problem with this hostel. I first booked into an eight person room. It was too cramped, you couldn’t even open your suitcase or bag in the room.

Te ofrecen un tour gratuito por la antigua prisión, muy recomendable. Se ofrece un desayuno simple pero nutritivo Debido a la arquitectura de la prisión, el sonido se amplifica y se escucha casi todo por la noche. • Charlotte (10/5): Great prison stay - The location is great. Staff were really helpful. I didn't get there till 1am and that was no issue. I wouldn't want to stay long term but for a night or two this place was amazing Nothing.
• Marcus Vinícius (9/5): Excelente escolha! Muito bem localizado, jovem, confortável e prático! Recomendo - Excelente localização e com privacidade pra dormir, pelo fato de ser cabine. Cada cabine tinha um mini ventilador que ajudava na circulação de ar e, por serem cabines de madeira, a temperatura era sempre boa. A equipe oferece um bom tour pelo próprio hostel que era uma prisão. Ou seja, se hospedar nesse lugar em si ja é uma excelente atividade pra conhecer Ottawa. Tudo era novo e bem cuidado. O café da manhã também era muito bom! Recomendo! O armário pra guardar as malas era pequeno, acabei tendo que deixar a mala embaixo da cama. Mas nada que fizesse a experiência ser ruim.
