Guest Reviews
- Torry (3/5): -
- Jackson (1/5): - Norhing Roaches
- Helen (2/5): - I didn't like that there roaches everywhere. There were dead roaches in the fridge. I woke up in the middle of the night the first night there and there was a roach crawling on my arm. The entire time I stayed there, no one cleaned my room at all. I had to use my own pillow because the ones on the bed were completely flat. I had accidently left my pillow and whet to get it after work and the housekeeper had taken it. Luckily the manager was able to get it back for me.
- Carrier (8/5): Very good -
- Gene (2/5): - Didnot like anything. Take it off your listing.Overhead did not work, drain on sink fell off water ran on florr, yroomsnelled, outside grounds was littered, bathtub drain did not empty when taking shower. Stayed 2 days. No garbage picup , no new towels after soaking up the water, check in was slow. Steps to second floor in poor condition To sum up entire prpoperty in poor condition and should condemed and torn down. Doyou need mor??
- Denise (10/5): - Comfy. Clean. Safe.
- Adam (1/5): Bad - roaches in the bathroom and drug paraphernalia under the mattress.
- Victoria (4/5): - Roach motel
- Glend (5/5): Passable -
- Fred (2/5): - A very shady place. Office locked. Homeless people In front. We would not stay.
- Smith (6/5): Pleasant -
- Herring (2/5): Very poor - This room had dead roaches on the bathroom floor. The towels provided were old and worn. The environment on the outside was unsettling so much that I felt unsafe and didn't even stay the whole night. I was charged to check in early. The TV didn't work.
- Stephanie (6/5): You get what you pay for - Front desk could not find my reservation for quite awhile. The motel is geared towards "long term" guests and the upkeep is not very good. Definitely not well maintained.
- Jason (1/5): Bad -
- Pola (2/5): Horrible place to be! - The budget host hotel village inn needs to be off that Expedia website this hotel is the worst place ever. I was in Chicago for 6 hours and I’m supposed to check in at 3 so the flight took longer so I arrived to Des Moines airport at 9:30pm and then had to drive 2:30hours to the hotel and I explained everything to the hotel guy and he didn’t have sympathy at all for me and he was asking for lots of information and lied to me saying that he’s not the boss and he was when I asked him and I went to my room after 20min waiting and then I got up the steps it was very iced and I almost slipped they don’t care about the property Saftey neither guest Saftey this is my first and last horrible experience in this place! I went to the room the no electricity is like hell so I had to just sleep Becuase I know if I go back and talk it will be another hour waiting and i would be late to my next morning meeting.
- Oberdahlhoff (1/5): Bad - Nothing Bugs dirty bedding was gross and not clean at all
- Joseph (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely great place for the $$
- Doaa (1/5): Bad - I found bedbugs and roaches. Room smelled of tobacco and it got to all my belongings. Hotel guests outside are half naked, smoking during day and drinking alcohol at night. Hotels guests play loud music until late night. House keeping does not clean floor or change linens. Towels are stained. Room smell is nasty.
- Condon (1/5): Bad -
- Verified traveler (2/5): Do not stay here - The place is a dump, I was shocked. A horrible storm moved in right after I arrived or I would have left immediately. No light or electricity bedside, plug did not work. Besides the sheets everything was either dirty or burned (all sufaces) with cigg.s or holes (walls, curtains etc)
It would take multi of their pillows to create 1 normal pillow. I am afraid the place either is or was a place for drugies considering the condition and obvious destruction. The smoke within the room clogs your sinuses immediately. Worst I have ever seen.
- Aekerya (2/5): Budget host - The floor was caving in. There was mold on the shower curtains, roaches crawling around on the dressers.
- Ronnie (7/5): Friendly staff and a clean room - Clean Needs some renovation
- Karryana (10/5): - It was in a busy spot but so chill
- Lisa (2/5): - The area isn't safe. Homeless people hanging out whole weekend with pitbull dogs running loose. Room covered in cockroaches! Showerhead didn't work. Frightening experience.
- Beaty (10/5): Exceptional -
- raymond (10/5): - Wall to Wall carpeting, shampoo. Needs more lighting.
- Coleman (1/5): Bad - Nothing Cigarette burns in bedding. Toilet isn't secured to the floor and moves/ slides. 5 seconds into the room and I could hear someone on the opposir6 side of my wall getting their back blown out.. sketchy place
- Green (10/5): Exceptional - Very nice Nice
- Head (9/5): Superb -
- Edwards (1/5): Bad -
- Crystal (8/5): Very good -
- Landon (10/5): - It was a great place to stay. It’s right next to restaurants that you could just walk to them.
- Carl (8/5): Very good -
- Shannon (1/5): Do not stay in this hotel - I was on the ground floor Where should I start , the office door was locked both on check in and check out .
The bed was broken
The stool didn't work
The tub was nasty
The ceiling looked like it could fall at any time
The climate control system didn't work right
There was men watching the room doors asking kids to go with them .
Someone kept calling the room
Someone kept knocking and running from the room .
I have stayed in some very poor hotels but , never one in the condition this one was in .
If you're looking for a place to stay your better off saving your money and staying in your car
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Samantha (6/5): Pleasant - Friday and Saturday nights are 120.00 each night ! Absolutely crazy !!! During the week you can get a room for 65.00
- Alicia (8/5): - Pricing good.
- Lyle (8/5): Very good -
- Jan (4/5): - No bed bugs.
Bathtub wouldn’t drain. Leaves in the bath tub. .
Towels very small and thin.
Heater grate was broken. Area above the door repaired with duct tale and cardboard. It was too light in the room to sleep due to light coming in through the broken area.
- Jacob (1/5): Bad - Smelled of drugs. The room was extremely dirty. Nothing worked.
- Paul (10/5): Good quiet - Good adequate for work
- David (4/5): Disappointing -
- Dustin (2/5): - This place is a in horrible condition near like a rock just All around horrible
- Charity (3/5): Poor -
- Stacy (2/5): - Architecturally unsound. The steps we’re not safe anywhere going up to the second level. There was beams coming out where you could trip upstairs.. the sheets had spots on them, and the mattress pad. The shower was dirty and walls. Paneling were coming off, would not of stayed if there was any other choice. And paid premium price for an unsafe place.. highly would not recommend. Staff was nice, but place was not.
- Craig (4/5): - We got into town on parent weekend, so the entire town was booked. Hampton Inn messed up my reservation so we had to find a last-minute room. Budget host was probably built in the early 60s and hasn’t been updated since then. While technically clean we did find several bugs in the bed. No bedbugs. The clerk was pleasant and efficient. If it wasn’t a last minute thing, I probably wouldn’t stay here. They had surge pricing because of parents weekend and it was probably double what I would be willing to pay to say in the place this run down.
- Austin (2/5): Very poor -
- Alan (5/5): Passable -
- Vicki (8/5): Good for a quick cheap night. - this was a good clean bed and one of the oldest but hottest and high pressure showers Ive ever stayed in. The property is run down and old, but clean. The desk attendant is very helpful and prompt. Good basic cheap stay. Will use again.
- Porchia (1/5): VERY FILTHY RAN DOWN MOTEL! -
- Kathryn (5/5): Passable -
- Jc (7/5): Good -
- Szymon (5/5): Passable -
- Julie (2/5): - Exposed electric outlets. phone wiring and jack hanging loosely from ceiling towels dirty with hair from previous user dirty clothing left in room from previous user nothing clean dead bolt wouldnt lock slept in my car I HAVE PHOTOS
- Carlos (10/5): Exceptional -
- Charissa (2/5): - Warm
- Myrthe (7/5): Good -
- SUSAN (10/5): - Easy to find, clean and quiet
- Carl (10/5): Exceptional - Had a non-smoking room.
- Patrick (6/5): Pleasant -
- Robert (8/5): met expectations - location, price could hear TV from next room
- Teresa (7/5): The accommodations were clean, comfortable, no frills, yet with fridge & microwave. - Because of medical food restrictions we travel with our own food. The filter on the air conditioning needed cleaning or replacing.
- Julie (2/5): - I needed an over night while traveling on that road. I should have read the reviews first! The room was very dirty and smelled like a smoking room though was suppose to be not. It had not been vacuumed for a long time around the edges of the room. I had holes in my sheets and which were obviously old ones. Turned on the light in the a.m and saw a cockroach go across the sink. Told the front person I think is the owner who did not seem concerned. Would never stay there again.
- Cara (2/5): - The beds were clean but that's about the only positive, the place hasn't been updated since the stone age.
Lots of shady activity and very loud.
Sink was not clean, bathtub appeared rusty, old broken toilet seat that you could get scratched or cut on if not careful.
We left early could not stand it anymore.
- Heith (8/5): I'll stay here anytime I'm in town. - Best location of any hotel in Kirksville, right in the middle of everything, which is exactly what I need. Right next to Conoco, across the street from Taco Bell and McDonald's, down the street from Hy-Vee, and minutes from the university. Perfect. Truthfully, the whole place needs an interior renovation—carpet, curtains, paint, paneling, lighting, etc. You can tell these things haven't been redone or replaced in quite some time. Even at that, though, the value cannot be beaten.
- Dave (2/5): It was a last resort. - It had a room, when others were full. Dirty. Pervasive old smoke/cigarette smell - in the room, the beds, carpet.
- Russell (10/5): Very nice stay in Kirksville - The room itself was found to be both quite spacious and clean. The WiFi worked well and the television setup was quite nice with premium movie channels. The room and area itself was quite quiet, too. The motel is located across the street to various eateries and is a 15 minute walk to the downtown area. The manager is very friendly and didn't mind checking my bag into the office when I arrived early.
- Elizabeth (6/5): I would not recommend this hotel! - I didnt expect the Hilton but i expected the bathroom sink to drain and be clean. I also expected the room to smell clean not musty. Fortunately i woke up at 5 a.m. And drove 4+ hours home to take a shower!
- Chad (7/5): Quick and Easy - We liked the price. Could have been a lot cleaner
- Robb (6/5): Pleasant - Price was below the norm. Staff very helpful and friendly. Only place in Kirksville that was pet friendly. The guests are long term for most part. Not the most desirable. But it was quiet and a place to lay down n sleep. Alot of in and out traffic all night long.
- Carrie (1/5): Horrible!!!! - There was no breakfast . no one was was at the desk and it was very noisy. There were people smoking outside our room and in the way of coming and going. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The smell was unbearable. Everything
- Lisa (8/5): Very good - I liked being on the first floor, that allowed easy access to take pets outside and with my neuropathy it’s hard to climb stairs.
- Jenneth (7/5): Good -
- Willard (6/5): - Older motel not well maintained some repair needs
- Charissa (6/5): - Not alot was unique
- Diane (4/5): - It is a budget motel, so expect that. We tried two rooms.... Found holes and tears in sheets, stains, and paper stuck to wall. We won't be staying again.
- LaVinna (8/5): - It wasn’t to bad. It was clean. The only thing I didn’t like was no coffee maker but over all it was good
- Carla (8/5): Clean and inexpensive - Very clean for the price, but very outdated. Most quiet hotel I have stayed in.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Construction Worker Stay - It’s a motel, so don’t have high standards if you’re planning to stay here. Otherwise, it’s cheap, accommodating, has free parking and WiFi, and it’s located right of the main drag with fast food and restaurants in walking distance.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The price was lowest in market by 30 dollars. But, the place is very dirty, in need of upgrade and in disrepair. I was alone this trip but generally travel with my wife. If she had accompanied me, i would not have stayed here. So, next time I'll spend more money.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel, would stay again - Nice hotel that shows its age but is clean, comfortable and quiet. Nice bed and shower. Stayed two nights. Our room had a microwave and refrigerator. Would stay at this property again.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Parking was close and convenient. Manager was polite. He helped with WiFi password and setting extra bed up in the room.
He had to set an AIR MATTRESS up in the room because, as he explained to us THE SAME DAY WE WERE TO ARRIVE ( NOT ahead of time so different plans could be made) that they OVERBOOKED and DID NOT have the two bed room we had reserved AND PAID FOR.
He DID NOT offer a refund; when I asked him, he offered a very small amount. Very disappointing. HE KNEW WE WERE STUCK and TOOK FULL ADVANTAGE OF IT. TERRIBLE BUSINESS!!
- Chris (4/5): - Supposed to be a non smoking room .... maybe was that week. The room stunk!
- Carol (10/5): - Very clean, staff nice, very quite, convenient to food places, shopping areas, Good parking
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Booked this place because it was cheap and only needed a bed to sleep on. Ended up not staying here due to the conditions. You truly get what you pay for. The front desk person was quite friendly, however, the hotel itself was very poor as far as cleanliness goes. I booked a non-smoking room due to asthma and was shown 2 rooms that clearly had been smoked in before choosing a different room that simply had a musky smell.
- Verified traveler (6/5): You get what you pay for - It's the old saying - you get what you pay for! Very dated - it was like stepping back in time with the yellowed linoleum bathroom floor and dark wood paneled walls. Room smelled old and musty, there were some cigarette burns on the blanket, bathtub was old and chipped, some of the outlets didn't work. We only used it to sleep in and actually used the showers at Thousand Hills campsite where our friends were staying, which happened to be very nice! But this place saved us for a last minute trip when we didn't have time to set up a tent and needed something very cheap!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Clean but felt unsafe - The room was clean but there are long term guests there that tailgate and party drinking outside their rooms. There were cops watching the hotel and it didnt feel safe
- Bethany (6/5): Get what you pay for - This is definitely a get what you pay for deal. But if all you need is a place to sleep it worked just fine.
- Shauna (2/5): Pist off - Im not very happy at all the heat the towels stink the door did not lock. I hsd to leave for a bit came back there were people in my room
- Brenda (8/5): - An older motel. Staff was friendly, check-in was simple, room was clean & the bed was comfortable. ‘Breakfast was limited to Little Debbie type snacks, coffee or tea & instant oatmeal....but, I couldn’t complain at the price of the room!…besides, Mc Donald’s is right across the street!
- JDavid (10/5): - Very retro motel. Rooms were clean and more than adequate. The bathroom was small and not luxurious but the price was ight and a great value. TOWELS WERE AWFUL
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room was nothing special. If you want a comfortable bed and a hot shower this is perfect and priced right. Wi-fi was in and out all night, no coffee maker no hairdryer in room. Coffee was available in the office with some fruit and swiss rolls. Location was convenient to everything. The place could use some updating but for the price it was acceptable.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - It was nasty. Smells old and musty. Needs a total remodel!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We were there over the week-end of the 4th of July. Many of the guests were weekly construction workers and some of them were setting off fire works past midnight. The exterior of the buildings shows its' age but the rooms were clean and neat. The ice machine was always emply or not working.
- Jeremy (10/5): - Nice little motel. Great staff very friendly. No frills but its a nice quiet place even though its on a main road.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good basic room. Small Fridge & microwave. Really like that they allow pets for a small fee.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good place to stay, convenient location, reasonable dog fee. Clean, older plans
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Beds and pillows uncomfortable
Showers had great water pressure
Friendly staff
- Verified traveler (4/5): Unsanitary Budget Thieves - We chose this hotel for a few reasons. It was central to quick fast food, close radius for our destination & they accepted check-ins until 2am. However upon arriving at 1:34am for check in after a long drive from Pagosa Springs & a snowstorm we were double charged on our debit card, room was ice cold, toilet had black hairs on the seat after breaking open "sanitized seal", blankets were smothered in cigarette aroma, the heater fan in bathroom rumbled louder than our diesel, & ceiling had evidence of needing roof repairs. We tried our best to sleep fully clothed & shivering even w/ heat turned full blast. We waited until 7:30am to bother the attendant w/ notice of double charge. When he tried sending us away stating 'he would fix & we need no worry' I demanded he refund he again stated he 'knows little English & it was his 1st day' my husband said that's fine we'll call our bank & stop ALL payment all of the sudden he was able to call his son to translate "how to refund" over the phone. And our FREE INCLUDED on-the-go breakfast consisted of a variety of Lil Debbies dollar store snacks honey buns, swiss rolls, oatmeal pie. Oh & don't hold your breath on free coffee...apparently he doesn't know how to make that either.. Just go over to the gas station there was sugar, straws, & cups available put out on display that wasn't there at 1:34am. Hmmmm... It took 3 days for the refund to show in my account!! So if you're on a budget be very skeptical about paying with a card!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Convenient. Cheap but clean and nice staff. Not luxurious but adequate.
